Great friendly staff, owned by a lovely family for 18 years! We got the chipotle chicken dinner with sweet potato fries and a garden salad and a pizza with various toppings. Portions were great and everything was fresh and homemade. Sweet potato fries are a must! They also served warm fresh rolls. read more

Made it back here for an early dinner this evening. Everything we ate was yummy and the service was great! The nachos were okay, but I would not order them again here. Have had much better at other places. Husband had the sausage Riggies and was very good! I had the Asian stir fry and it was also very good! Lots of nice fresh veggies to go with the chicken. Desserts this time around was the peanut butter pie and the carrot cake! Both homemade and very tasty. Only complaint was the portion was small for the $5 price per piece. I had seen a local review about this restaurant and knew that my husband and I had our anniversary dinner coming up and decided to give it a try! The food was great and can't wait to come back! Here is the food we tried: Soup of the day-beef cheddar, nice and thick with a great flavor and was perfect for the snowy evening . Salads- ice house salad that comes with entrees. Tried the house special dressing and it was delicious but sweet so just be prepared. It was good to dip the fresh bread in! Entrees- I had the Asian Osso Bucco and it did not disappoint! Fall off the bone tender and amazing asian inspired sauce. I chose the risotto and chefs veggies which were cooked just right. My husband got the steak medallions and had the mashed potatoes and chefs veggies and he loved his meal. We got two desserts to go, the five layer Oreo cheesecake and the peanut butter pie. Would get the Oreo cheesecake again in a heartbeat, so yummy! Can't wait to go back and try more of their food. read more

WOW!! Highlight of our ADK trip!! I would recommend the ride here as we did from Old Forge, it is well worth it!! My husband has been here with his buddies on many a "boys snowmobile" trips. He promised to take me here, and today was the day! I highly recommend making reservations to let them know you are coming, they appreciate it. The wait staff was just as amazing as the food. We stopped for the 1st time in a couple years. This is some of the best food in Lewis County. I had the Crab encrusted grouper and finished every bite. The service was efficient and friendly. The prices are no higher than other establishments in the county however the freshness and quality are much higher. If you haven't been there in a while you should make it a priority. This place has great Italian food and it's a crime that not many people have tried it. I recommend the gnocchi or the lasagna, both are fantastic. I also had gator tail as an appetizer and it was great. I haven't tried the Asian food they make yet but everything I have tried was great. read more

Ok heard lots of good things about this restaurant but we were disappointed with the service and one of our meals. We arrived and our table was ready (reservations) ordered drinks and dinner. Waitress brought out Soup and salad very quickley then we didn't see her for 1 hour and 10 minutes when she brought out dinner. One grouper dish was excellent but the Steak was Mediocre. After dinner we waited 15 minutes for our check. I had to get up and waive my credit card at the waitress. I will return but not order steak. Now I know how to handle the wait staff. My husband & I bought a cabin in the area. My husband's father was visiting the cabin & we wanted to go out for dinner. My husband & I split the escargot as an appetizer. It was okay but I will not order again. I have eaten escargot before but I did not enjoy this version. The roll was soft. I prefer a crusty bread. As entrees we ordered the lasagna, seafood pasta and osso buco. The osso buco had a great sauce. The lasagna was well done. The seafood pasta was ok. The service was good. The owner/ operator clearly loves what he is doing and makes a real effort to provide an interesting dining experience. We will return. read more

We are visiting the area and found this place by accident our first night here which was our 30th wedding anniversary... it's so amazing!! We came back the next two nights just to try more off of the menu... so good, everything made fresh... he's a real chef! We have had the grilled salmon, asain osso buco, smothered streak, beef tenderloin medallions... the veggies are amazing as well as the homemade salad dressing with blue cheese crumbles!Wow! And they succeed at making well prepared, well presented flavorful dishes. River Valley Inn is a small family owned business, and the owner has worked I believe in some kind of fancy restaurant. The menu is not that large, and making a decision for your meal won't take you long. As many times as I have eaten here, not one bad thing to say. I have walked in with 9 guests and no reservations, and we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. Food was excellent and served as a 5 star restaurant. The place is small and with snowmobilers stopping to warm up and have a few drinks the noise can get a bit loud! Stopped here for a rootbeer and to use restroom during a snowmobiling break. after talking to the owners and looking at the menu we were really impressed. We had a veal dinner with a strawberry vinaigrette dressing and a sample of a alligator appetizer. Everything was fantastic. The food was 5 star and I really enjoyed talking to the owners.
