It is on the pricier side, however you don't need to prep or clean up afterwards and we leave stuffed. You can also order more veggies and fruit for no extra charge. It was busy this evening but our server did a decent job checking in on us and refilling our pops and waters. Food was great. I like how you can have a variety of choices for cheese, chocolate and broth. We went with the coq au vin broth and the mojo broth. We enjoyed the 4 cheeses (which is their best one in my opinion) and the truffle. For dessert we tried the bananas foster and the cookies and cream chocolate dream. Everything was excellent. To me, the quality of the experience is dependant on the service, and it was good. At least 3 different people provided service to our table for various purposes. We dined here for a celebration on a Tuesday evening with a reservation in the Lover's Lane at 6pm. Despite it being a weekday, the parking lot was packed and we had difficulty finding parking near the restaurant; luckily, someone left as we were arriving, but I noted others arriving shortly after us needed to park further away. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation, but we ended up waiting in the lobby for 20 minutes before being seated. Things like this usually don't brother us, but as we were being walked to our seat, there was no acknowledgement of the longer wait past our reservation time, which I felt could have been addressed more courteously considering this is a fine dining establishment. There's definitely value for the amount and quality of food; at first glance, the portions seem small but there was definitely more than plenty of food for two people, especially since each course comes with a selection of complementary dippers so you can request as many refills as you'd like. I did feel though, that the entrees didn't really offer anything exciting or unique, just an experience of cooking your own food to your liking in front of you. If I were to return, I'd likely skip out on the salad/soup and entrée next time and just go for the cheese and chocolate fondues. We also ordered two drinks: the Sunshine Sangria, and a pineapple-based non-alcoholic beverage that I cannot recall the name of; both were great and paired well with our meal. However, for a fine dining restaurant with three dollar signs, I definitely expected better service, which is my reason for a 3/5 rating. Two of the servers bringing food to us were very unenthusiastic and responded very coldly to our questions which dampened our experience. Our main server was friendly, but did not come back to check up on us during any of our meals; she would pass by us when helping other tables but did not stop by our table, so we felt neglected. We also did not receive any refills on our waters until the end of our entrée. The server kindly explained the recommended cooking times for each entrée item, but with all the different food items, it was difficult to remember the specific time recommended for each thing. I also dislike using my phone while enjoying a night out with company, even if it's just to use the timer on it. For these reasons, I do wish the booths had a little page with a list of the recommended cooking times and a clock/timer. Overall, definitely an experience that I'd recommend trying at least once. The atmosphere in the Lover's Lane is very intimate, which makes for a great date night. Food: 4/5 It was so hard to make a grade on the food alone as there were basically three meals in this one, cheese fondue, then entrees which we got the fry style one, and then a chocolate fondue. Each were great on their own but gosh was it a ton of food in which is usually not my problem as I have a very large appetite but for two people it was way too much as we barely got any extra's. The food was extremely well done and all the items brought out looks extremely appetizing and as I said good portions for two. Experience: 3/5 So I make this analysis based on the price they charge as I feel it's only fair to compare against that and yes the mood was good but my significant other and myself didn't have a great seat as two other couples got to make awkward eye contact with me the entire time. Then I understand they want to create a relaxing atmosphere and not disturb you but we also went without anyone asking us if we needed anything for quite a while. Lastly we found some of the servers who were bringing us food were not super excited which fair enough I don't expect you to love serving me my bowl of cheese but it does make my experience that much better when your excited to tell me about what ur bringing me. I have been going to melting pot for years since it opened. Everytime i have come there has been disappointments with service. The first time a waiter spilled sauces all over my brother when clearing the table OMIGOD. the second time they screwed up our order. the third, fourth, fifth times the service was mediocre. (for the high prices you expect decent service). but finally after three n half years...finally the service is up to par with the food. The food is fantastic. Exotic and unique. I love the spinach artichoke cheese fondue. The coquevin cooking style really brings the seafood n meats to a new level. Dont skimp out on this. For dessert, all of them are great but the yin n yang is simple and not overly sweet. so initially i would rate this 2 stars. but my experience today has upped it to a three! If they keep the service up to par for the prices in future visits. this place deserves five stars! love the food here. I cant believe its the only one in Canada!!! We came in to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and decided to treat ourselves to a special dinner date. The restaurant is beautiful and I was surprised at how big it is! We had a wonderful server who took his time to explain the menu and how the different courses of fondue worked. My personal favourite was the cheese fondue for our appetizer (I'm a sucker for melted cheese). All of our courses were unique and so delicious, I could barely move by the time we were finished! The staff even brought us a beautifully decorated plate with some extra dessert and champagne when they heard we were celebrating our anniversary. The melting Pot has always been a great experience for us. It was made exceptional this past visit to celebrate two birthdays. Dave F. was our server. I had to make a point of mentioning him because it was his outstanding customer service that took our experience to the next level. He was charismatic, knowledgeable and entertaining. The food selection was great. we had the big dinner for two including our salad choice, Cheese fondue with veggie, fruit and breads, main fondue with assorted meats, seafood and vegetable. We opted for the classic oil fondue. It came with a variety of house made sauces. The blue cheese was a surprisingly delicious sauce considering I'm NOT a blue cheese fan. It paired wonderfully with the steak. Finally , our yin and yang fondue with an assortment of fruit and cakes was the perfect way to end our meal. Tried the unlimited 4 course meal and what a disappointment. I would recommend going elsewhere if our experience was any indication of how things are run. We had a reservation booked but didn't get to our table for 45 minutes after (other people in the waiting area said that this happens often - if so, why take reservations at all? Or, if you do take them, why don't you fix your system??) Once seated, it took another 15 minutes before our server came to the table. For $45 or $49, depending on your entree choice, you were supposed to get unlimited everything (cheese, entree, dessert). Our server said we got 1 cheese, unlimited dippers (bread, raw veg), 1 soup or salad per person, 1 method of cooking and unlimited of your entree choice, and 1 chocolate. Far cry from the "unlimited feast" the advertisements were touting. Course 1 - 2 choices of cheese were listed plus a feature cheese for St Patrick's Day. They were out of everything except Wisconsin cheddar...so it wasn't really a choice. It was prepared at the table and it was good (or maybe by then I was so hungry that you could have given me a pot of Cheez Whiz and I would have eaten it) The bread was soft and the few vegetables were fine. Our server was in a rush though, because she took our pot away before we were finished with it so she could get the entree pot going. :( Course 2 - Caesar salad was soggy and limp. The soup was cold. Not unlimited. Course 3 - We paid an extra $7.50 to upgrade to the Mojo flavour broth and it was just the one pot. We chose 1 of each for the options and that gave us a variety of meats and a pasta. We were told they were out of the feature St Patrick's day options (honestly. Why mention it then if you're out of everything??) We got a refill of the meats and felt a little judged as though we were putting her out for asking for more. I found the meats bland even though they were flavoured/seasoned - the 6 types of sauces definitely helped. Course 4 - We chose the Ying Yang chocolate and it was good. Fresh fruit, marshmallows and brownies came as dippers. My favourite part of the night. Overall, we paid over $125 for a dinner for two and were there for over 3 hours. Subpar service and average food at best. If you want interactive, you can go to kbbq or hotpot for way less money. That said, they seem wildly inconsistent - we spoke to another group that was there on the same night in a different part of the restaurant and they had a completely different experience and a true unlimited feast+. A quick browse of comments left on their social media shows they don't respond to complaints, though I did try to bring up my concerns both on the night of and afterwards through the feedback link on their website - no one cares/no one followed up. Ok so I was kinda shocked about this place and how it went down tonight, I've been told by many of my reviewer friends to come check this place out because is amazing and whatnot, finally got the time to come in to take our mind off a very sad week after our baby cat passed away so we wanted to take our mind off it and eat here, I'll start with the food. The food was very good we started with the cheese which had pesto and garlic in it which are my favorite, I will say the portions that they give you are fairly small and not much to go to, is all basic in a way I was hoping for a bigger selection but quite frankly it was very good. Then we had the dark chocolate which was very good and the fruit selection again could of been better but I really enjoy it and the salt was a great touch. Now for the reason why the review was so low, I find it that if the service is bad then the food isn't good. Our service was BEYOND garbage, the server we had was beyond unprofessional and extremely unattentive, he barely asked us if we wanted anything and when all of our drinks were done, he never once asked us if we wanted another drink or refill on our waters or pop, he then started going on a rant about how much money he makes and how he cares so much about tips and started to talk about how he likes his woman and swearing left right and centre, it really put a extremely bad taste in my mouth. I'm not sure what happened but my last 4 or so visits here have not lived up to my previous love affair with the melting pot. From burned out burners to tables that supposedly fit 6 yet have the server reaching across your face with their arm pit in your face to reach the 2nd burner, it's just not making me want to come back. Don't get me wrong, I think for "Lover's Lane" this place still has it going on and the Ladies' night out and Kids' events are still pretty neat but for a group of 5 or 6 it's rather difficult to celebrate say a birthday day. Last week, we had reservations for 5 but the group table had a burned out burner in the bar so we were sat at one of the booths. It was difficult for us to reach across the table with out getting in the way of one another. Also, service has been lacking on my last couple of visits. Both last week (with new Melting Pot visitors) and a few months back the server didn't take the time to explain things like - the cheese/chocolate will get REALLY hot at the bottom of the pot and don't eat off the fondue fork because it gets really HOT. I remembered this stuff from previous visits but a few in our group did not. Melting Pot, I used to be your #1 fan but as of late, I don't find myself wanting to go back :-( read more

Attended this restaurant for my birthday and got seated right away in the bar area. I wish we got asked if we had preference to where we would be seated as we didn't feel a full atmospheric dining experience staring at the bar. Despite the our server performing double duties as bartender and service we felt she gave us great service. My only feedback is we felt almost isolated and in a corner. Positive thing was that it was big table so we had space to spread out nicely. I had a birthday email which entitled me to six free chocolate covered strawberries, a wonderful present from the restaurant. Be prepared for a long relaxed dining experience as it is a four course dinner. We went at 5pm and didn't leave till 8pm. The cheese fondue was very tasty and we were offered refills of things we could use to dip the cheese in and the salad and mushroom soup was a great starter. I highly recommend their mushroom soup. The entree seemed to have less meat than the previous times we attended the restaurant but it was more than enough as we still had our favourite course, the chocolate fondue dessert!! The flaming turtle is always our favourite and our guests got the s'mores chocolate fondue. This restaurant is a perfect date night restaurant with plenty of parking and a nice dimly lit atmosphere. As a nice end to the evening they also brought out a piece of sponge cake with a candle and chocolate sauce on a plate saying Happy Birthday. If I could, I would give like 3.75 stars I can't so I'm rounding up! First time at this restaurant for both my boyfriend and I. We decided to do the big night out 4 course meal, and chose the second most expensive option that came with shrimp and 1 lobster tail. This place is definitely pricey - our bill came to $145 before tip including 1 fancy non-alcoholic drink and 1 Caesar. The cheese fondue itself was awesome (we got the 4 cheese option) and I would totally just sit there and be content eating the fondue from a spoon. I found that the bread they gave us to dip in the cheese was boring. It tasted like the French loaf you get from superstore for $1 The meat options we got were all good, but I just found it kind of weird boiling my beef and chicken pieces in broth (is it just me?). The chocolate fondue was awesome. Maybe I'm a bit biased though because we both just LOVE chocolate. The s'mores was sooooo good. We left full and with very sore backs and asses; probably because we sat there for 3 whole hours to complete the meal. Came here for one last anniversary dinner. We'd already gone out three times this week but who's counting. Ultimately we decided the Melting pot is a perfect place to celebrate such an event. We were fortunately seated in a private booth. With soft dim lighting. And the sharing style dining is the ultimate in romanticism. During March the Melting Pot was running the all you can eat fondue and since we love to stuff our faces that is exactly what we ordered. First coarse was a cheddar cheese fondue served with bread, green apple slices, and fresh cut veg. Second coarse was a choice of two different meat samples. We went with the more expensive choice of shrimp, filet mignon, flank steak and sausages. We choose to stick to cooking our meat in a broth since we didn't want to pay any extra for the other choices. The shrimp and steak were seasoned similarly with a slightly spicy mix. The filet mignon was exactly what you'd expect. Super flavourful and tender. Oh so good. We opted to for go the sausage. Third coarse was a chocolate s'more fondue with a dark chocolate mixed with marshmallows and pieces of graham crackers mixed in. Great date place even taking into account how far south it's located. Both of us left full (probably too full) and we enjoyed the variety of flavors/bites we sampled. The 4 course meal option is convenient but definitely not necessary. It includes a cheese appetizer fondue, a salad, the basic broth, and your choice of entree. It ranges from $45 all the way up to $59 per person. *IMPORTANT* You can buy just one 4 course meal per couple and order extra side. Also the bread, veggies, and fruit that come with the cheese fondue are complimentary so you can order as much as you want. You may run out of the cheese though. The salad was quite lackluster. Probably my least favorite part of the meal. We got the Caesar salad and it was a small portion, soggy, and over dressed. But the value of the 4 course is still good enough and just forget the salad or order a different one. The entree course comes with a broth stock that you cook your meats/veggies/pasta in. The basic version is included in the price but you can upgrade them for a fee. They have 3 other flavors that have more seasoning and wine. So the actual entrees are just the meats that you cook in the broth with some complimentary veggies and dipping sauces. Each meat comes in about 3oz portions cut up into inconsistently sized cubes. That can make for inconsistent cooking times so I took a moment to resize them into roughly similar chunks. The meats were accurate to their menu descriptions (Tenderloin & Top Sirloin). We also got a coldwater lobster tail for an added $14. This was my favorite protein and decent value compared to everything else. If the initial 3 proteins that come on the 4 course meal isn't enough you can always order more a la carte. The dessert fondue ranges from $12-$14 and by this time we were so full we just got one order. But once again the dipping items are complimentary so we got enough of those for 2 people and there was more then enough melted chocolate for all the dippers. The meal came to $85 for a party of two and that included a glass of wine and coke. I can see how this place could get expensive but if you ask a few questions and order selectively you can have an enjoyable night and leave satisfied without breaking the bank. read more

Awesome place to spend time with friends and family. We went on one of their KDO - 'Kids day out' Sundays which they usually have on the last Sunday of the month. For the KDO, they have a table set apart for kids activities like coloring and crafts. The kids made a really neat Banjo as well as a hand shaped butterfly. A big shout out to Dustin for helping the kids out with these activities. This is a great place if you are not in a rush. They had ample seating, however I guess it's better to get a reservation since they could get full during evenings. We chose the 3 course option along with a drink. This was the cheese fondue followed by a salad and then the grande finale of a chocolate fondue. The dipping for the cheese mainly veggies and bread were quite sufficient. In fact we finished the cheese quicker than the dippings. The best part of course was the chocolate fondue. It came with an assortment of fruit, cake and chocolate coated marshmallows for dipping. Sad news is during my meal, some oil shot into my eye while I was at the table. I told the manager and he said he noticed out pot was getting a "bit hot" but no one came to turn it down. we ended up getting comped 10% on the WINE, which came out to $3.50. I guess that is what my hurt is worth to them, I would have rather gotten nothing. Thankfully my injury isn't too serious so I won't waste the time talking to legal course, but do know there is boiling items on the table and if you are hurt there is no care or compensation. My Mom booked dinner for my birthday, and I suggested there as being a member of their club fondue they emailed me s coupon for 6 free chocolate covered strawberries. My Favorite fondue to start is the classic cheddar. For an entree I always skip the salad, so then there's more room for your entree & of course chocolate fondue :) As a vegetarian I am not the best a recommending an entree for you, but you have many choices from land & sea! For your dessert chocolate, there are about 7 to choice from. 1 always changes for the feature of the month. Cool thing about the feature is that $1 from everyone sold, goes to the charity of the month Melting Pot has chosen. Personally I recommend the smore's fondue, but add peanut butter. I have been here at least 4 times and it seems to get better each time. This place is perfect for a special occasion or a date night. If you're there on a date they have a "romantic" section in the restaurant which is tucked off to the side. The place is decorated with rose petals and the booths are cozy to add to the effect. They have a regular menu but I think most people go for the fondue (and rightfully so!). The four course is pricey and will come in at $50 plus tip however if you think about it for 4 dishes you'd be paying around the same if you went out for dinner and ordered an appy, dessert, and alcoholic drink. The first course is cheese fondue with a variety of dippers. What is nice is that now they give you unlimited dippers whereas before I remember you had to deal with whatever was handed out once. Dippers include; crackers, chips, broccoli, apples, and carrots. Next course is salads which there are 3 to pick from. Then you get your main. It is a tray with raw meats and veggies that you have to cook on your own. You also get a variety of sauces to go with the meat and you get a choice of cooking style. Last but not least it's dessert time! Dippers include; fruit, brownies, cheesecake, sponge cake and little cookies. You get to pick your chocolate which they mix in front of you. Plan for at least 2-3 hours. It seems like a long time but it goes by fast when you're there. We had 13 cups on the table throughout the meal he did not care to pick them up. One of our cups had a weird crusty thing in it when I showed them they just said "oh" and got a new cup, did not remove the old one. Overall my experience at this restaurant was a positive one. The food was delicious, and the layout and atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful. What was the coolest thing I've seen in a long time was you got your own little fondue burners built right into the table, which was pretty darn awesome! The fondue stove wasn't built into the table in a tacky or in an awkward way at all. They really went above and beyond to make it look and work perfectly. This spot has to be the best in Edmonton to go to for a first date, anniversary or to celebrate an (adult) birthday. I don't know how I feel about taking kids to a place like this. Just hot oil and grabby kids may end in a few burns. The one thing I didn't like how expensive a simple meal cost. For a friend and I just ordering the basics (No cocktails, etc) the bill was over $100! I went back to "The Melting Pot" few days ago on a Friday for a date. I'm a Vegetarian and my date was an Omnivore. So they brought out my meal almost immediately, and then we waited for his dish to come so we could cook them in the fondue together. I didn't want to be rude and start cooking my food at the table, while he hasn't even received his yet. We waited 20 minutes till it arrived (We were both just STARVING!) Overall a great place to go for a unique dining experience. I just wish it was a little more affordable, and not nearly as impossible as it currently is to get in without a reservation. If you show up without one, expect a wait easily up to an hour or longer. read more

Went out for a lovely date with my hunni. We had the girls night out deal for $29.99.It included tomato bisque to start which was cold. I threw it in my fondue pot to heat it up lol no salt or pepper on the table was a bit weird. The salad was Mandarine orange with almonds I didn't care for it. Then a plate of tomatoes broccoli carrots and bread served with an awesome garlic cheese it was very tasty they even had gluten free bread. The dessert was the best we choose the dark chocolate with caramel Baileys served with pineapple, cakes, strawberries and deli shout marshmallows. I would return for just desert and wine. All in all a lovely girls night menu minus there's no meat whut ya girls don't like a little meat :) read more

Visited the melting pot the other day and had the 4 course meal. Staff were very friendly and efficient - our particular waitress did a really good job of explaining the menu without overwhelming us. The 4 course menu includes a cheese fondue, soup/salad, cooking oil for entree, and chocolate fondue. I had high hopes for the cheese fondue however the first few bites were VERY wine-y and it got better over time but the cheese we had chosen wasn't anything to write home about. The soup I had was really good however, it was a cream based tomatillos soup that I really loved. I had the surf and turf as an entree and like the cheese fondue it was pretty good but nothing spectacular - my subpar cooking skills could be the blame in this case. The chocolate fondue is the amazing. We had the bananas foster fondue and when I tell you it was spectacular - I'd be underselling it. I've also had chocolate fondue maybe once before so maybe I don't have high standards but I'll be back just for dessert in the future! read more

Whether u come with lots of friends, or someone you'd like to get to know better, it's sure to please! Deffinitely deserves a try. Their 3 course meal is top notch! Appatizer fondu...main and dessert fondus! So decadent! If time is if the essence, going with just one course is a must. The nature if fondu is such that the eating process is dragged out. So I had super high hopes for this place. For years I wanted to go and finally my fiancée and I finally said that we were going. Made the reservation and then we wait...finally it's the day of our reservation and I'm giddy with excitement! It just so happens that our this is the day of one of the coldest weekends of the year. We get seated at a table at the exterior wall. The roof dropped water on me the whole time and the wall was cold. Sadly my feet were freezing. I'm staying positive because I love fondue and heard that this is an amazing experience. Our server greets us, his name is Dave and he was the highlight of our night. He was super entertaining and made the start of this evening fun. We order our cheese fondue, proteins and dessert fondue. Then it's time for drinks so we order a couple beers for my sweetie and myself. $9.00 for Innis & Gunn which is pricey but I'm thinking if we get a decent size bottle it's worth it. Hells no! 355ml bottles for $9.00 each! Highway robbery. Then the food starts to arrive, the cheese fondue was decent but nothing to write home about, I'm still staying positive though. Then the proteins show up at the table. The chicken was disappointing there is no way to put it, it was bland and leaving me sore for my decision. The teriyaki beef was not bad and the bbq pork was good, this leaves me excited for the remainder of the beef. Terrible cut of beef with zero flavour. Now this substandard food for the absurd cost has me pretty angry. Now table of women has been seated in a booth behind us. It didn't take them long to get loaded and rowdy. They were screaming across the restaurant to the bartender and the evening is pretty much ruined. The food was way too expensive, the drinks are ridiculously priced and the cold table that my feet are freezing at had me wondering why we decided to make this mistake. The dessert has a chance to save the night though, news flash...it didn't #sadpanda I just want to go home by this point. Now the moment of truth the bill...$200 for three of us! We left a decent tip because Dave was a spectacular server but the food made this not worth it. I leave 2 stars because of the outstanding entertainment that Dave provided but I had to eat when I got home. I really enjoy visiting The Melting Pot. In fact this restaurant was one of my favourite American chains and I was super excited for when it came to Edmonton! I've been here twice now and have enjoyed both visits. Once was with a larger group that included a baby and I was surprised and pleased that they had bassinet holders available for the table. The other time was as a date night to celebrate my birthday and I truly enjoyed it. It is well worth signing up for their email list if only because around your birthday you'll be able to come in with a voucher for free chocolate covered strawberries to come home with from your dinner outing! Both times I've been here have been to celebrate my birthday and it has been nice to be able to savour these strawberries on the days following the dinner out. My favourite fondue course is pretty reliably the cheese course. Apples and cheese, bread with cheese, veggies with cheese, each of these go together rather well. The salad options here are rather good and don't have too much salad dressing. The beverage options are limited for fancy non-alcoholic options but I do love having berries floating in my beverage so that is always fun! The meat course is awesome in part because of the adventure of cooking the different kinds of meat. It would be nice if a timer were available at the table to keep track of how long one is cooking the various meats (chicken especially) but smart phones work well. Finally the chocolate courses are yummy but often I am too full to want to eat more! For each of the courses one can get more items to dip in the sauce (or cook in the sauce) which is a nice touch if one runs out of veggies or bread or fruit etc. Our server was great at my most recent visit here. She interacted well with us at our table. I was really quite happy with my visit. read more
