Chili hotpot has been one of the decent hotpot places in Edmonton over the years. I'd give them 7.5/10 for the quality and variety of their food, for lunch and dinner. They stand out in having more and better drinks than other hotpot places.

It was a very nice place. The staff were very friendly and help ful. We loved the cat robot server, that was a selling point for us to come in. The food was amazing. Such a fun and yummy experience

Place is good for a hot pot. I really liked the large selection of meat, veggies, and other hot items you can order. I ended up ordering too much, but the owners were really kind and didn't charge me extra. The place itself looked like the general run down older Chinese fare place. However, don't be fooled, great food. A little pricey for 30 bucks for an evening meal, and I don't really eat enough meat to feel like "I got my moneys worth" but really great fresh produce and good cuts of meat. I also really enjoyed their fried rice and their fried wontons. Loved the people who owned it and also served us, really friendly. There was a great selection of broths to choose. I chose the Tan Tan because I like spice. All in all a fun interactive experience!

5/5 - 10 if I could rate it that high. We visited Edmonton just for fun. I've always been a big fan of Hot Pots as we do it at home on special occasions. So I looked for one on Yelp in the Edmonton area and this place had the best reviews. I didn't really know what we were walking into. From the outside, it may seem like a sketchy place. But the moment we walked in, we were greeted and sat down at a table. This was around 5pm on a weekday so it wasn't too busy. But from the start the ladies there were helpful, personable, and very funny. There was a wide selection of choices. Great Dim Sum. And even ended with some desserts. The ladies came by from time to time asking how everything was - they were always on the ball. I'm extremely impressed. It was a little pricey, but I would've paid the same amount at some other restaurant that gave poor service for mediocre food. So this was worth every penny. My friend and I were saying how this was probably one of the greatest dining experiences we've ever had. I'm definitely bringing family & friends back here - and probably make a point to drive up to Edmonton just to eat here.

All you need to know about Chili Hot Pot is: a) It's good b) 20% off if you go after 9 pm! Sweet deal. Regular $25, so only $20 after 9pm! Plus $2 for your choice of broth. Lots of cool ones to choose from. I went with a half and half option ($2.50): - Lamb in a spicy broth - Pork with apple slices Both were good but the lamb's spiciness took over and I couldn't taste much of the pork broth afterwards. If I were to do it again, I would just get one main broth and stick with it for the night. We ordered a ton of good food - selection is pretty decent and they even have a couple good random things you can get (I'm talking about salmon sashimi, lamb dumplings, fried rice with egg and green onion was tasty). Place was surprisingly not that busy for a Friday night (didn't even need to make reservations although we did). Service is on and off - they were pretty slow to bring out the good stuff...don't know if that was on purpose or not. Pretty good place and I like the deal after 9pm! Plus you get dessert at the end too (we had mango). OH - make sure you get a lemon ice tea ($2.50) - comes in awesome jar and definitely quenches your thirst.

It drives me crazy that this place doesn't do a late night special but I GET IT .... it's so good they don't have to! The quality of meat here is beyond any late night special that's running in this city. On top of that, their milk tea and in-house made iced tea is delicious. Then we have the service ... it's amazing. Absolutely perfect. The people working here are consistently welcoming and enjoyable to be served by. Sauces? Great. I don't know what they're doing to their bean curd but it is so good. Also, the included dessert of a strawberry pudding and mango pudding is a perfect way to end the meal. This is one AYCE that I enjoy on a regular basis. The value and quality is actually worth what you're paying here.

During the few days of extreme cold in Edmonton, it was only appropriate to seek warmth at a hot pot restaurant. After hearing about this place from my parents, I think I have found my new favorite hot pot restaurant. It is always a great feeling to enjoy a warm satisfying lunch on such a cold day! Atmosphere: 3/5 On the outside, this restaurant appears quite unassuming, but it does have an open, comfortable, and clean environment inside. My only complaint is that the tables tend to be a bit too close together so there is not always enough room to place all of the food! There are carts next to the table though. Thankfully, the restaurant was not too busy so it was ok to use the carts. Several TVs and overall a quiet environment during the lunch hour. Parking can be difficult behind the restaurant so most tend to parallel park along the main road. Food: 4.5/5 I love the entensive selection of items which distinguishes Chili Hot Pot from other hot pot restaurants with lunch specials. The vegetable basket is a little smaller than other restaurants but the main entree sizes make up for it! The food was fresh, and I love the variety of sauces. Many soup bases to choose from and the soups themselves have a lot of ingredients as well in comparison to other restaurants. I usually end up getting the same few items in other restaurants but find that I can try many more things including hot dishes here! Service: 4/5 Attentive and friendly; efficient Price: 4/5 Very reasonable for the amount and quality of food Overall: 4/5 I really enjoyed this hot pot restaurant. Given the extensive selection for their lunch special, I would love to come back as I can mix and match many different items including soup bases.

I think the service here is top notch and I would come back here for that alone. The food was quite good and fresh...it was my first hot pot experience. I have no complaints except my own fault for order a too spicy soup. Careful with the Currys....when they say they are spicy they mean it. The lunch special is a great deal at 13.95 and I left super full. Friendly atmosphere and very clean restaurant.

Broth menu... pork stomach and white pepper and lamb are bomb

This was my first time visiting chili hot pot and I was not disappointed! The selection of broths and sauces was so much more extensive than other places in the city. Also, the selection of meats and veggies was great and everything was fresh. The oysters were the size of my hand . The service was friendly and timely. A nice added touch was the water with lemon, lime, and cucumber. I would highly recommend the lamb broth... it was very tasty and had great depth of flavour. You can select one flavour broth or two for a few dollars extra. Well worth it for the variety. If you go after 9pm like we did there is also a late night special price.

I come here often because the hubs loves hot pot. We have been here a couple of times for dinner with friends. After 9:00 pm it's 20 percent off which is a great deal, however I don't eat enough to justify hot pot ayce. I love coming here for lunch which is an amazing deal and oh so delicious. For 15.95 you get to pick 5 items including hot foods and it also comes with a free veggie basket. For $2 you can pick an extra soup or any additional items ($2 each). Their milk tea and lemon tea are sooo yummy! My favorite soups are the borscht and spicy lamb. I never finish my items but my hubby is always on top of it!

The server brings over wonton soup to start before you head to the buffet. It was great. Overall the buffet was fine. Very fresh and hot but also pretty normal. Nothing stood out as spectacular. The shrimp was very well cooked. The green onion cakes as well were great. The spring rolls were very empty of filling. The chicken dumplings were great. Fried rice and noodles were fine. Lots of breaded meats or well sauced meats. You get a very fresh donut at the end - which was very tasty. Overall a good Chinese food buffet.

There are legendary restaurants in Edmonton and then there's The Lingnan. Open since 1947 (that's…read more78 years!!!) you would be hard pressed to find an Edmontonian that doesn't have some sort of relationship with this famed Chinese restaurant, its food, or the family who runs it. Speaking of the Quons, they have become celebrities in their own right especially after their family was featured in a season of the TV series The Family Restaurant in 2009 followed by The Quon Dynasty in 2011. The matriarch of the family, Amy Quon, is well known for her warm and friendly demeanor and the way that she takes time to visit with guests. The Lingnan was the first Chinese restaurant in Edmonton and most people would likely tell you that it remains the best. VUE Weekly named The Lingnan the #1 Best Chinese 2018. The Edmonton Journal has voted them Best/Favourite Chinese Restaurant 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. And EDify Magazine awarded them the Best Chinese Restaurant 2023 title. The list of accolades is long and with good reason. I have personally eaten at The Lingnan many times over the years and I have always appreciated their quality and consistency. I decided to pay them a visit on a recent Sunday evening to revisit this Chinese institution. Located in Central McDougall right behind Rogers Place, the restaurant's tall vertical signage and red and yellow paint cannot be mistaken. They've also got a really cool mural painted on the side of the building. The interior is impressive, expansive, and ornate. Entering the restaurant you'll first be greeted by a life-size bronze statue of a Chinese warrior. Next you'll marvel at their large (and very clean!) aquarium stocked with giant goldfish. The space will take your breath away and there is certainly no where else like it in the city. Every inch is beautifully decorated and the colours of red and gold create the palette. Intricate Chinese lanterns hang from the ceiling. The tiling, the art, and the gilded accents stretch as far as the eye can see. There are at least three different dining rooms and many of these areas can be sectioned off to create even more spaces. Each table is covered with a white table cloth and servers in traditional Chinese clothing hurry about the room. A reservation is highly recommended because even on a Sunday night every single table was occupied and there was a lineup of people waiting to be seated. The Lingnan's patrons are loyal, many of them having spent their entire lives eating meals at the restaurant. A feast for the eyes, simply dining at The Lingnan is an experience in itself. Once seated and settled it was difficult to ignore the flurry of activity all around. Happy customers enjoying their meals, the aroma of delicious plates of food passing by, and the gorgeous jade-coloured ceiling with a dragon in the center of it. Looking for a beverage to match the atmosphere, a warm cup of Chinese Jasmine Tea would've been a wonderful choice. However, I ventured to the cocktail menu for something a bit more special. The China Moon (Soho Lychee, Hipnotiq, Blue Curacao, pineapple - $10.00) caught my attention. A beautiful green-hued beverage to match the ceiling overhead! I appreciated the list of custom cocktails, created to suit the restaurant. Seemingly a modern addition, these drinks elevate the dining experience by complimenting the food and overall ambiance. I loved this sweet, easy-drinking beverage and the flavours of lychee and pineapple were a delight. It's very chic to be sitting with a China Moon in hand. Like any good Chinese restaurant, take-out is a major component of the business. However, another more recent update has been the addition of a buffet. For the exceedingly reasonable price of $31 (every day of the week) you can feast upon some of The Lingnan's most popular dishes. I have enjoyed the buffet on several occasions in the past but on this particular visit I was interested in sampling some of the restaurants more upscale and unique dishes. But first let's take a moment for the Dry Spicy Chicken. An entire blog could be written about this dish alone. In fact, this chicken used to have its own restaurant. A true staple Edmontonian dish and affectionately nicknamed "crack chicken," we all mourn the loss of Chicken for Lunch. Operating out of the Rice Howard Place food court (lunchtime on weekdays only) and run by Amy Quon herself, this place used to attract immense lineups. Why? I mean, they did sell a variety of items but everyone was there for the addictive Hot and Dry chicken. Amy always treated everyone like they were someone special and she still does. With Chicken for Lunch gone, all is not lost because this famous chicken is still on the menu at The Lingnan! Available in both appetizer and entree sizes, I could not imagine visiting the restaurant without ordering it. On this visit I went for the Appetizer Dry Spicy Chicken ("Amy's Chicken." Breast meat strips lightly battered and stir fried with our home made chili oil

As Asians, we generally wash all of our bowls and utensils prior using as our practice with hot water or tea (depending on what you ask for). Food - 4/5. The chicken casserole was flavourful, just a lot of bones. The beef was very soft and tender. The sweet and sour pork chops had a thick tangy sauce but good that it had a light batter around the meat, which kept the meat moist. The chicken is the typical dish you can get at most Chinese restaurants. It was interesting that it actually sat in a soy sauce base. The ginger sauce is missing the typical green onions. However, it was seasoned quite well. I didn't take a picture of dessert though. It was red bean with glutinous rice sweet soup. I actually quite enjoyed it. Overall: 3.5/5.
