We love The Melting Pot so we were pumped to get to go while we were in town for Christmas. My mom made the reservation and marked that it was for a birthday (hers). Let's get the good out of the way - the food was what we expected. No complaints there. If you've been to The Melting Pot, you'll know what to expect and I didn't notice any difference in quality there. The restaurant looks just like the others inside. We were seated relatively quickly after arriving. Now, the really not good. Our waitress was the worst server we have ever experienced and I'm not exaggerating. In our probably hour or more there, I think we saw her for a total of 5 minutes? Including while she was at the table preparing the food. She disappeared constantly and would be gone for 10 or more minutes without checking in. I asked her for a water refill, waited so long for her to return that I decided to flag down a different waiter, got a refill from him, and then DRANK THAT WHOLE GLASS before she ever came back. Still wiithout a refill for me. When our salads came, she had no dressing for mine. She left to go get it and didn't come back until the others had fully finished their salads. I ordered a strawberry lemonade when we first sat down. It never came and so we asked about it at dessert to make sure it wouldn't be on the check, and before we could finish asking, she said 'OH!' and left, and then came back 5 min later with it. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to drink with my chocolate. She never asked if we were celebrating anything even though there were two birthday tables next to us whose wait staff made HUGE deals about their birthdays, AND it was on the reservation notes. Here's the thing. She never apologized for any of the wait times, or disappearing, or forgetting things. Even after all of the mishaps, my review would have been a 4 star if she'd ever once acknowledged how comically bad it was all going. This experience was so bad that I had to share it. Price performance isn't great so my recommendation is to save this place for special occasions and celebrations. Cozy and warm, but the tables are a bit small for their suggested party size. IE their table for 4 with 4 Adults would be pretty cramped. The food itself, it's alright. Nothing magical about it and pretty much average at best. Now, what you are paying for is the experience - it's kinda fun and it's unique. Went there with a family of 4 - 2 kids and 2 adults and we shared 2 adults and a kids plate, shared an adult beverage and it was $250 after tip. Did I feel it was worth that much - absolutely not. We knew right away from all the full booths that we were in for a special meal. We were cordially greeted at the entrance and seated immediately by the hostess. Our waitress immediately brought water and took drink orders. She was able to explain the somewhat complicated dinner menu and answered any questions. This was our first ever visit to "The Melting Pot" for their acclaimed fondue experience on Tuesday evening the day before Valentine's Day and it was a great experience overall with a few areas lacking with the concept that would have made it a five star night at this type of restaurant concept. We arrived for our reservation at 6:45 p.m. after having spoken with Nikole earlier in the day to push our time back to accommodate a work schedule conflict. Nikole turned out to be the GM rather than a member of the Host Staff I thought I was working with. I say this because Nikole was amazing in the customer service she provided on the phone and in her presence out front and how she checked tables. Undoubtedly, as GM, she has been incredibly successful in training and development of the restaurant staff, which makes a huge difference at any restaurant and often is lacking but very evident at The Melting Pot. The areas that I indicated were lacking in my first paragraph was that the restaurant interior appears that it could use a refresh being it's current decor style and location in a strip center, but it's well maintained and clean and especially the booth seating upholstery which often is the first area to reflect on the quality of the staff and management and again active and engaged management is evident. The other area was the only thing that was underwhelming and that was I expected more variety and elegance in the fresh vegetables presented for dipping in the cheese fondue along with the bread in the first course. The vegetables were fresh and good, but I would like to have seen a bit grander variety and presentation. We had a wonderful experience and will return again as I think that there is a small learning curve if you are unfamiliar with the concept and experience, but not having any prior knowledge beforehand, Alexis our server was excellent and instrumental in guiding us and enabling such a wonderful and interesting meal of different tastes and textures. We visited the melting pot to celebrate our anniversary. We had a reservation, but arrived early, so we waited at the bar. They were quite busy on this Saturday night, so we had to wait a bit longer to be seated. Once seated we were treated promptly by our server. The staff had signed a card and left some chocolate dipped cookies and strawberries on our table. We had a quaint booth with red lighting. If only the kids sitting in the adjoining booth weren't moving around so much and shaking my seat. We shared the Big Night Out fondue 4 course meal. For cheese, we selected the Quattro Formaggio. This was a perfect choice. It was followed by the strawberry salads. Our entree we chose the mojo broth. It included chicken, shrimp, salmon, filets, and mushroom stuffed ravioli. I give this 4.5 stars for the experience and fun time and really good service. I would rate the actual food more of a 3 max if you go just for the food. Also, make sure you have plenty of time for a longer dinner experience, you will be cooking your own food, but assisted. We got the Big night out was a smaller version added since there was 3 of us. Honestly we should have stuck with just the dinner for 2 but shared 3 ways. We took a lot of cooked meat home and left a lot of dessert and cheese uneaten. It's plenty of food. The salads to start were really good. The cheese we chose i want a fan, it did have alcohol in it when cooking and I'm not a fan of alcohol in my food. I do wish they had a few other options for dipping in the cheese. The meat, although a fun experience, was my least favorite. The seasoning we chose for the water was not good. I should have asked to change it when it got to the table. The smell we already didn't like. It was the Caribbean flavor. I do not like boiled meat so that's why i didn't like it. The dipping sauces they give are all very tasty tho. So utilize those with your meat. Dessert, you can't go wrong. We got cookies and cream. We were already full, but still have it a try. Some of the items with the chocolate was a sweet overload, but it was all pretty good. You do get fruit as well as brownies, rice crispies, and several other options for dessert. Alpine cheese fondue is SO GOOD. Honestly, you can never go wrong with cheese. Melting pot house salad is also great. Love the sweet dressing and I finished it all. I do like the cheese fondue and chocolate fondue, but was surprised that we had to cook the meats in oil (the first pot didn't heat up and when it did, it overcooked and burnt the meats). We did get a second pot, so that was good but the amount of effort to dip the meats in batter, breadcrumbs, and wait for it to cook in the oil is not worth it. read more

The food was all pretty good. I mean, with the cheese and dessert course - how could dunking stuff in cheese and chocolate sauce not be amazing? We got the alpine cheese. Delicious, but next time I might try the bacon & jalapeno (but ask for the jalapenos on the side). Salads are really underrated here. First, the portion is surprisingly large but also, the mix of ingredients in each salad is wonderful. I can't remember the name of mine but it had caramelized pecans and a raspberry vinaigrette and YUUUUUUUM. Entree: I almost wish we got spoons so I could drink more of the broth (but also not because it would have filled me up too much before dessert). Next time I might opt for the cast iron skillet to sear the proteins (was missing that Maillard reaction flavor). But also, love love love love all their sauces! Celebrated a birthday and expected maybe a slice of birthday cake or even a candle especially since we paid $300, but nothing. Our reservation even said birthday, and we even told our server. Be aware servers weren't completely aware of what was vegan (they brought out all the sauces even though most are not vegan-but they were very kind and checked when I asked). The lights are awfully dim, but contribute to the intimate vibe. There are mostly booths and some tables, not very accessible or comfortable for those with larger bodies but can work in the romantic sense as you'll be close to your date, literally. They have a great three course meal starting with your choice of salad, followed by type of cheese sauce accompanied by vegetables and bread, your choice of meats, pasta, veggies and flavor of broth for entree, and lastly your choice of chocolate/dessert sauce with accompanying fruit and pastries. The food is so delicious, every course surprised me and made me full! Any place that has seasoning available at the table is a place for me! They also have specialty drinks along with a full bar! The staff is very helpful and attentive, explaining the menu, how to cook our items and replenishing our pot when needed! Also when you check in they have a coupon on Yelp! I've been to the Melting Pot before and I've always had a memorable experience. I wanted to give my man crush an amazing birthday dinner so I made reservations (highly recommended) here. We were seated in a cozy corner booth and started with drinks. My martini (Love Martini) was good, his margarita (Freshly PIcked Margarita) was the bomb! I would order that drink again! We did the four-course dinner for two and chose the Quattro Formaggio as our cheese fondue. It was delicious. We are not huge pesto fans and when I saw our server add a big clump of it towards the end of cooking it, I thought it was ruined but it was very good. Assorted breads and veggies were served and we were offered refills of anything we liked. We then ordered salads. I chose the Melting Pot House and my man crush ordered the Strawberry Pecan. Both were very good. I recommend the honey mustard dressing. The third course was the BOMB...we ordered the Bigger Night Out which is Lobster Tail, Center-Cut Filet, Teriyaki-Marinated Steak, Herb Crusted Chicken Breast, Shrimp, Atlantic Salmon, and Wild Mushroom Ravioli. The server recommended the Mojo cooking broth and it was all so amazing. Every bite was so tasty! We ended the dinner with the Flaming Turtle fondue. Yelp tip: do a check-in and you will receive the Sweet Additions with your dessert. I won't explain what that includes...just do it! You can thank me later. Was in tonight for the last time. I've had some experiences here with servers adding so much garlic and nutmeg to cheese fondue that it's been inedible. We didn't go back for months due to this (and the couldn't-care-less attitudes of the maitre-d and manager), Well, lo and behold: tonight we arrived 5-10 minutes late due to traffic. On check-in (with appointment), we were mumbled a reason for why we would be left there while the front-desk guy went on a nice walk around. Meanwhile, others walked in stating that they had an appointment and were waved through by other staff. When the pointless wait was over, we sat down and when our server finally appeared, she asked what we would like. I went to order in the usual manner: cheese course, meats, and desserts. I got as far as, "We'd like to start with the X cheese fondue please, and--" I was interrupted by our server, who said, "Okay, I'll just get that started" and quickly turned away to leave. I interjected, "I'm sorry, I'd like to make the full order." She explained that she'd put the order in and take the rest later, as it can take a long time to make it... End result: she didn't return after placing the order to get essential details of what else was needed. She reappeared 15 minutes later with the cheese fondue kit in hand. It was then that I had to order the accoutrements for the fondue. We assumed this subtle obstructionism was payback for our non-purposeful lateness. In general, I'm not willing to spend money in a place that specializes in frustrating customers more than it does in attending to requests for which they are generally well paid. A reply to the business owner: thank you for the offer, but I am done wasting time and money at your deliberately frustrating business. I can add that the attitudes of the staff I mention reflect badly on senior management. I suggest a culture-change is a good idea there. I'll say this, in any place I've worked, I've never felt my job would be secure if I passively aggressively wrong-footed customers. Why do your staff feel safe to engage in these behaviors? Went there as a "fun" suggestion of my gf on my birthday; basically you go and they put melted cheese in front of you; there are worse things in life but you shouldn't have to pay $200 for it. They sent me an email claiming maybe I had a rare bad experience; no. In Texas we have melted cheese which is flavored with peppers and called "queso". There is no need to give you cauliflower and carrots and CHERRY TOMATOES with said cheese. Then comes the "GRANDE ENTREE" which is just a lightly lame seasoned pot of boiling water (which you are then supposed to put your "entree' meat in to cook); so, let's say you go with one of their "suggestions" - peppered steak. Ok, sounds great. Except that you're putting said peppered steak into a boiling pot of barely flavored water, which thus removes the pepper and any taste of said steak. This place is NY bs, there is a reason it doesn't exist downtown anymore and it shouldn't up north either. read more

I went to this restaurant to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I made reservations for a large party. The printed menu did not have all of the options included from my contract agreement. The service was lacking - having to request additional dressings for salads and refills on drinks took more time than necessary. Our waitress continually skipped over my mother who was seated right next to me. She didn't bring her what she requested on more than one occasion. We didn't get to enjoy dessert at all due to what management referred to as a break down in communication with servicing both tables. In addition to all of this, I had to request an itemized listing of my bill instead of receiving it with the request to pay. My conversation with management was less than satisfactory with trigger words and intentional gaslighting being hurled throughout the interaction. I am walking away from this with the knowledge that I will never patronize this restaurant again. They ruined a perfectly planned birthday party. I caution you: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! Looks like the menu has undergone some alteration from the last time we were here. The large bound menus have been replaced with a laminated sheet - simplifying the menu. It looks like the "4-course" menus have been consolidated down to three, but there's more customizability to do a 3 or a 4 course with your own choice of proteins (woohoo - really like this change). Sadly for me - the new Classic Alpine is a different formulation than the old (kirschwasser we will miss you). We had great service and a good meal! read more

Celebrated my birthday at the melting pot this year. The layout of the restaurant seating is primarily private booths (with romantic low lighting) conducive to adhering to social distancing protocols. We got the 4 course "Bigger Night Out" for 2. We got to pick from the cheese fondues & we went with the Wisconsin Cheddar which included Sam Adams beer as part of the cheese fondue base. I almost forgot to take a picture before the cheese was completely gone - I loved the sour apple & cheddar contrast - the other items for dipping were delish - the small pretzel bites my favorite of the small bread bits. Carrots & broccoli were good fillers :) I had the strawberry pecan salad which had feta & candied pecans & a tangy dressing. I could have eaten more of the salad. My husband got the Caesar salad which he liked but was surprised to find candied pecans (maybe an accident?) For the main entree we selected the coq au vin cooking base - which is a signature cooking base & the Bigger dinner for 2: shrimp, salmon, lobster, 2 kinds of steak, chicken & mushroom tortellini. There are 6 dips that accompany the entree: cocktail sauce (delish but a little thick), Gorgonzola dip, plum sauce, mustardy/curry sauce, sour cream & dill, & a sweeter chili sauce. In the future, I think we'll get an entree without chicken - the chicken takes a while to cook. I would have loved more of the mushroom tortellini - when you look at it, you may think "I'll never get full... we were stuffed! Dessert was the flaming turtle - chocolate, caramel, candied pecans...ohhh yum! My favorite dipper was the pound cake (brownies were a little too much with the chocolate dip - good by themselves.
