Definitely a cozy spot with friendly service. The food is heavy and laden with butter and sugar. A 3 egg omelette comes with a side of 3 pancakes. It is enough food to feed two adults and a small child, but would it be weird to order a single dish for your whole family? Honestly, I don't understand the portions. Just cut the serving size in half and charge 3 or 4 dollars less. The meal left me not feeling great but I generally eat a pretty clean diet and am probably more sensitive than most. The food was amazing and had some nice, additional options for breakfast. The portions are enough to feed a person for at least two breakfasts, which is great when a traveler wants leftovers the next day. However, this order was placed for delivery online. Second time we have attempted thus with this place. The delivery once again was an hour later than first anticipated or promised. The delivery driver was working with a different agency and was angry when they arrived, due to the treatment they said they received in the restaurant while waiting to collect the order to deliver. They stated that this particular restaurant is notorious for treating the drivers this way. The tables are crowded and close together so it's not really conducive to great conversations, especially if you have kiddos in your group. What a great experience here while visiting from California! I ordered the French toast breakfast and Omg they were so good and moist that I didn't even add syrup to the French toast! My husband ordered pancakes and they were delicious as well. My toddler was fascinated with the gift shop at the front of the restaurant so we had to bribe her with food before she was able to pick a toy out. The customer service was so amazing. What an amazing breakfast and service. I was surprised that even though there was a long line we were sat within 10 minutes. I got scrambled eggs and bacon and my lord the eggs were fluffy and cooked to perfection as was the tasty bacon. I also got the apple pancake which was the highlight of the meal. The ambiance was a classic Saturday at a diner. The food though? Not the best. The coffees were fun and fine. Sugary but special. Biscuits and gravy was really extremely awful. The ratio of gravy to biscuits was sickening. The gravy was flavorless but way too fluffy and airy-- nobody wants that in a gravy. The biscuits were just okay. The Frontier Skillet was really nothing to write home about. It was just really greasy potatoes and bell peppers with some eggs. The prices are not reasonable. This is a local and tourist spot, expect a long line. I ordered the house special apple pancake. I think the size was good enough to share for four, a bit too sweet for my liking, lots of brown sugar topping, I like the taste of the fresh apple though, the pancake has a good texture. My wife and I split a ham and cheese omelet with breakfast potatoes. It was beautifully done, and was more than enough for the two of us. The only down side was that a few seats at our long table were exposed to the summer sun, which made it less than comfortable, but it was relatively early, and we all survived. As a huge fan of brunch, I couldn't resist Maple Counter Cafe with it's massive breakfast menu and great location in downtown Walla Walla. We arrived around 10ish on a weekday, and were immediately greeted and seated with an option for outside or inside. There's been an epic heat wave coursing through the PNW, so we opted to sit inside and enjoy the fun, funny and sentimental pictures, paintings and sayings hung across any and ALL of the walls. Our server came first for drink orders and we couldn't pass up a brunch cocktail - one mimosa and one whiskey lemonade, please! After that we had to take a few minutes to read each and every menu item - this breakfast menu is HUGE and sprinkled with fun references to people and places that form the Maple Counter Cafe culture. I couldn't pass up the buttermilk pancakes, which thankfully come as a side to nearly every option, and paired those with a country scramble omelette packed full of sausage and topped with gravy. First, let's talk pancakes - fluffy, buttery, melt in your mouth - these were everything you expect in a decadent, pillowy pancake. Do not miss these. My scramble was savory, with a hint of sweetness in the gravy, the perfect brunch mix and HUGE. In fact, be forewarned, the portions here are enormous so bring your appetite or plan to share a plate. If you go for breakfast, make sure to expect a little wait because it can be full often. I've been here 2x so far, and my favorite dishes are the Eggs Casey breakfast for savory, and the Blintzes for not overly sweet alternative to pancakes or French toast. Service pretty good and fairly quick and friendly. No problems here. Parking is pretty easy in the area. It's typical small town downtown parking, a few blocks away from the college if you want to go for a nice stroll. Prices are roughly $13-18 range. But good size portions, so it'll be plenty for most people. Would come again for brunch when I come thru Walla Walla again. read more

The wait ended up being really long and we were really hungry so we ended up just putting in an order in online since the staff was quite jammed on a holiday weekend to take a to-go order at the counter. For two people, we split the mushroom omelet, the 3 pancakes, and a side of bacon. The pancakes came with syrup and whipped cream. The omelet was full of mushrooms and also had a ton of cheese on it.
