This is a local and tourist spot, expect a long line. I ordered the house special apple pancake. I think the size was good enough to share for four, a bit too sweet for my liking, lots of brown sugar topping, I like the taste of the fresh apple though, the pancake has a good texture. As a huge fan of brunch, I couldn't resist Maple Counter Cafe with it's massive breakfast menu and great location in downtown Walla Walla. We arrived around 10ish on a weekday, and were immediately greeted and seated with an option for outside or inside. There's been an epic heat wave coursing through the PNW, so we opted to sit inside and enjoy the fun, funny and sentimental pictures, paintings and sayings hung across any and ALL of the walls. Our server came first for drink orders and we couldn't pass up a brunch cocktail - one mimosa and one whiskey lemonade, please! After that we had to take a few minutes to read each and every menu item - this breakfast menu is HUGE and sprinkled with fun references to people and places that form the Maple Counter Cafe culture. I couldn't pass up the buttermilk pancakes, which thankfully come as a side to nearly every option, and paired those with a country scramble omelette packed full of sausage and topped with gravy. First, let's talk pancakes - fluffy, buttery, melt in your mouth - these were everything you expect in a decadent, pillowy pancake. Do not miss these. My scramble was savory, with a hint of sweetness in the gravy, the perfect brunch mix and HUGE. In fact, be forewarned, the portions here are enormous so bring your appetite or plan to share a plate. We arrived with a group of a dozen on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. We requested outside seating to minimize covid risks, and were promptly seated. Our server was very good, and made sure everyone had the basics. And then came the ordering. Luckily, we had read a review stressing the portion sizes. My wife and I split a ham and cheese omelet with breakfast potatoes. It was beautifully done, and was more than enough for the two of us. The only down side was that a few seats at our long table were exposed to the summer sun, which made it less than comfortable, but it was relatively early, and we all survived. When we were leaving, there was a considerable line waiting for seats. Anyway, food--excellent. Service, also excellent. Prices--Fair. Portion sizes--Huge. read more

If you go for breakfast, make sure to expect a little wait because it can be full often. I've been here 2x so far, and my favorite dishes are the Eggs Casey breakfast for savory, and the Blintzes for not overly sweet alternative to pancakes or French toast. Service pretty good and fairly quick and friendly. No problems here. Parking is pretty easy in the area. It's typical small town downtown parking, a few blocks away from the college if you want to go for a nice stroll. Prices are roughly $13-18 range. But good size portions, so it'll be plenty for most people. Would come again for brunch when I come thru Walla Walla again. read more

The food was quite good, generous but not obscene portions. 3-stats though, because when you order a $9 mimosa for Sunday brunch from a 4-star restaurant you would expect something very good. It was VERY BAD. Didn't drink half of it. My server tried to fix it because it only tasted like watered-down OJ. She said they'd recently changed brand of sparkling wine, and added a bit more to get the flavor balance right. Still tasted bad, flat, totally unappealing. A very nice stop for breakfast even on a very busy Saturday morning. The line went quick and because I was solo, there was a seat available right away. They do have outdoor seating as well. The wait ended up being really long and we were really hungry so we ended up just putting in an order in online since the staff was quite jammed on a holiday weekend to take a to-go order at the counter. For two people, we split the mushroom omelet, the 3 pancakes, and a side of bacon. The pancakes came with syrup and whipped cream. The omelet was full of mushrooms and also had a ton of cheese on it. Don't come here unless you are really hungry as every hot dish will fill you up and last you until dinner (with a doggie bag to go). Seriously, the flavor of their meats is exceptional. They are definitely doing something right, since there are crowds and long waits.
