Hello. We had Valentine's Afternoon Tea yesterday with our 2 kids. The food was not good. The pavlova had a skin that had formed on the curd. The preserved cherries on the "black forest" cake were inedible. The service was lackluster. My husband removed the lid of his tea pot as instructed to get more hot water and it took 20 minutes for someone to notice. The croissants used for the flavorless sandwiches were floppy and not crisp. The breads/crusts on the other items were old or mushy. The "kids" items were boring and flavorless. The experience was NOT worth $250 at all. Most of the items were only tasted or left untouched. The best part was the complimentary non-alcoholic drink that was NOT made in-house. The food looked pretty BUT not good nor worth the outrageous price. read more

I loved the old Lynhall, but I've had some not so good experiences at this location. Food is good, but service isn't always great and prices are a little high. Speaking from my most recent experience, upon arrival we were told that my friend and I could not be seated because they were only taking reservations for the rest of the day, we left disappointed, but upon looking online we found several open reservations so we just made reservations and went back and then we were seated. I feel the hostess should have at least told us that was an option. Once seated, service was terrible. From long wait times between ordering, to forgotten items and even our drinks came at exactly the same time as our food which was about 20 minutes after we were seated. Our waitress seemed to have forgotten our table and someone else had to come assist. Food was very good, however the waitress did forget to place some of the order so we didn't have everything. I ended up having to take some of the food to-go. I feel like the prices weren't worth the experience The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that I know place are short staffed so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt but I can't say I'll be going back anytime soon. read more

Stopped in for brunch when my cousin was in town for a wedding. The decor and atmosphere is beautiful and perfect for brunch. They were extremely short staffed with what I could see was only two waiters and one hostess for the whole restaurant. As you can imagine it took awhile to get food and drinks was understanding and say service was 5/5. Where I docked it down a point was the sausage was dry for the side we added to the potato skillet. The beef and gruyere in the burger blended well. Next time would also just to have one party instead of two as it was very messy would not recommend for a first date. read more

This is the perfect spot for a wholesome brunch date with your girl friends and the location is perfect for some after brunch shopping. The food was great! The classic eggs Benny came with a ton of shaved meat and was served over these almost sweet biscuits - so good. I'm not a coffee drinker but it felt illegal not getting a coffee and cake here so I had to. We did feel quite rushed by our server. She came by several times less than a minute apart asking for our food order and also made a comment assuming we would get cocktails. read more

I love the uniqueness of the Lynhall. The tea room ambiance is friendly and warm. The food is always outstanding. The last two visits the service has not been a 10 more like a 7. We had to call over the waitress for refills could be they a short staffed. Who knows. read more

Had a lovely afternoon at the Lynhall Edina location for afternoon tea to celebrate a newly engaged friend! It was the perfect place for an afternoon of conversation and lovely little snacks and treats. I found the set tea menu to be very unique with lots of variety. My favorite treat was the double chocolate scone- it was so delicious with a little clotted cream on the side! Of course the tiramisu was a close second- super creamy and sweet. Service was fabulous and they were always refilling my tea pot with hot water, so much tea!! They had a cute little tea cart they rolled around to each table for each person to make a tea selection. I chose the Earl Grey tea with hints of bergamot and lavender. It was delicious and made the wintry day outside feel warm again. We also bought a bottle of champagne for the table to celebrate our recently engaged pal. Make sure you come hungry and you will still likely leave with a little to go box to take the treats home! First the good: Love the vibe, the light, the food (both breakfast AND lunch choices at 12:30! yay!), the different seating areas and options (upholstered chairs, nooks, a great coffee bar that could potentially make a great wine bar, awesome fireplace, plus tables of various sizes). I would go there much more often -- if I didn't have to mention these things: Upon entering at lunch time, you're told you need to prepare to vamoose (they have a hard close at 2 pm (!); sometimes they even lock their doors around 1:30, as my aunt came to meet my mom and me for coffee/dessert while we were finishing lunch, and we had to find someone to unlock the door!). If you come in on a Friday for lunch, you're immediately told the kitchen shuts down around 1 (What?! -- you're open 'til 2...) It looks like a welcoming space, and many of the workers seem really great -- but they sheepishly look at you, almost grimacing, as they tell you that basically, you're welcome to scarf some food down, but don't get too comfortable. It's a shame that such a lovely, potentially welcoming space doesn't translate that to their customer service (and btw, the prices kind of suggest that customer service should be excellent). The Lynhall was a lovely stop for a birthday brunch, with beautiful woodsy decor and plenty of natural light. Caramel latte was delicious and pairs well with the daily assortment of pastries. I had ordered polenta bowl as the main course, and the lamb sausage it comes with had a very unique flavor. Prime rib had a very generous portion, and the steelhead trout omelette had a subtly smoky flavor. Overall, a lovely spot for special occasions! read more

I'd like to preface this review is based on The tea party experience. It's rare that I leave a place completely unsatisfied- it's also rare that I leave a poor review but I'm just disappointed with everything across the board, food service etc. My friend made the online reservation but had difficulty booking online and made sure to note that it was 1 child and three adults but we were charged for 4 adults when we mentioned to our waitress she said "you should've specified on your reservation" then left and sent someone else over to repeat her statement as if then we would say "oh no worries I'll pay $55 for a 10 year old" didn't even offer an adjustment, I have clients and would still try to accommodate my client even if it was a miscommunication, so that definitely irritated me. Back to my review about service and food - I expected cucumber sandwiches or something along those lines for a tea party not just solely day old stale pastries. For the cost per person I don't see how that's justified for the mediocre experience they provide. Our reservation was at 3p, Unfortunately I arrived late because I drove to the wrong location and it took awhile for someone to even acknowledge that I had no tea yet shortly after someone came by and asked if we wanted boxes at 4pm then 20min later gave us the bill saying "no rush" but they were cleaning and closing down everything it was a very odd experience. They didn't acknowledge us when leaving no "thanks for dining with us have a good day" I wasn't impressed. read more

I visited the Lynhall in Edina for Christmas tea. This was my first time at this location. The parking was a bit of a challenge! I was excited for the tea service as I had been to others and they were lovely. For food, there was a tiered plate with sweet and savory bites. All served cold/room temp. My favorite of the savory was a little puff pastry with prime rib and horseradish. It was a perfect little bite. My least favorite was a small frittata square. I probably would have enjoyed it better warm. There were many cookie and cakes to sample. All were delicious, especially the coconut macaroon. For tea, they only allowed you to choose one flavor, which was a little disappointing. I had the cranberry spice and it was ok. It was a lighter tea and didn't have a lot of flavor. The friends I was dining with had the Earl Grey, Orange Cream and Albert Square. The Orange Cream was by far the best. Overall, the service was decent and we had a fun time. I'm not sure I would do this again as the price was high for what you received. After tip it was just under $100 per person. But definitely happy we tried it. read more

I went for brunch and ordered coffee while I waited for a friend to arrive staff was prompt and delivered the hot coffee but then when I asked for cream, she must've forgotten about it and by the time she brought the cream, the coffee was lukewarm,. I ordered pear-maple waffle, which came out quickly but was disappointingly soggy and thin,like they had heated it in a microwave.. I will say that the lamb sausage was excellent. As I walked through the doors for the first time my impression was tastefully elegant. Furniture, decor, color patterns were just so tasteful. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. She took us through the menu and announced guest favorites and her favorites. I love asking servers those questions. We ordered the Shakshouka and Classic Eggs Benedict. Woke up this morning to a request from a friend to visit Lynhall for 'scrummies' and coffee. At first I wasn't in the mood, however, after laying in bed for 20 more minutes, decided I needed to get my day going, and some sort of morning pastry would be a good start. BOY am I glad I did! Only thing I'm sorry for, I didn't get any photos. Just as you walk in, you're slapped with a display of their pastries behind a glass divider. It wasn't overly busy, however a few patrons were inside enjoying their pastries and coffee, and I quickly saw many more HUGE pastries and croissants just sitting there, waiting to be eaten. My friend, who had been here before, suggested the Almond Morning Bun. (oh wait, I forgot to order my coffee...oh well, that's ok...THIS TIME). I finally took a bite; OMG! I couldn't eat it fast enough. From the first bite, to the last, I was licking my fingers after every nibble to enjoy the Almond bun. It was crunchy, gooey, sweet(y), buttery all wrapped up in one. This is something I would definitely come back for. (and some coffee) I may have to come back for their Friday afternoon High Tea which looks delightful. Having had High Tea in London many times, I'll have to check their Friday High Tea and see if it even comes close....for some reason, I feel it just might! read more

First off Chef Steph brought us our breakfast which was so special and exciting. Second the food was phenomenal. My wife and I were very impressed both with the atmosphere as well as the staff. I will let the photos of the food speak for itself but it's a MUST TRY breakfast/brunch. I also tried their honey and cream coffee which was a nice personalized twist to accentuate the fresh ground coffee. Again big shout out to the Chef. Had reservations for Saturday brunch at the Lynhall. Waited a few minutes to get seated but had a lovely table by the fireplace. Atmosphere & aesthetic were great, a bit loud but nothing too crazy. I got a cortado & it was lovely, also ordered the Rosti bowl which was delicous. I recommend parking across the street from the Lynhall in the parking ramp. I like to try croissant venues in the Twin Cities And in all the cities and states and nations I visit. My friend told me about this place last week. So like every weekend to try new bakery and a new croissant. This weekend I tried the lavender cherry croissant. It was huge and crunchy on the outside of the cream inside was not too sweet and not too heavy, very fluffy and very filling of the croissant. I was able to taste the lavender. Have paper towel ready to clean up the mess on your face. It's easy to walk across the street it's covered parking which is nice for Minnesota. The space inside is good for maybe 100 people or so. Social dancing was observed but not really when you have like six people sitting at the table. And you can order from outside. They have chairs all around outside and heater. It's kind of protected from the wind because it's within and outside zip mall. People here seemed classy at snobbish, Which sometimes I tend to be myself. Don't get me going on The Lynhall. I wouldn't know where to stop. I go there for lunch whenever I'm in Minneapolis. The food is really good. I used to go in just for lunch, but would end up carting out of there a few days worth of pastries. Thanks to Covid, the pastry selection is limited. I hope they can get that going again soon. But, yeah, go there. Tell them Farquar sent you. That's not me, but if I was Farquar I'd still tell you to go there. read more

It's a cute place to come for tea with friends. The service is good, the food and tea are average, the price is high for what you get. It cost $50 per person and it does not even include the price of tea which does not make any sense because I'm paying for an afternoon and tea and food. All the teas on the menu were $5 so you might as well build that into the price. It would make more sense if they had different prices for tea but they did not. The sweets were too sweet. I was disappointed in the staple tea treats which were the cucumber sandwich and scones. The cucumber sandwich was a ribbon of cucumber shoved into a roll which was more bread than cucumber. Instantly, upon walking in on a bustling Sunday, I was captivated by the energy of the staff doing their brunch dance like a well-choreographed performance. It was magical and frankly, quite obvious that this workplace culture is one to covet. Our waitress, Bella, allowed my friend and I to revel in the excitement and joined us like it was her first table of the day. She didn't rush us and had such a comforting personality that we felt at home. The Lynhall restaurant is doing it right in all facets of business and consumer relations in my opinion. Afternoon Tea or Hight tea? There is a huge difference. What we had was something that wanted to be an Afternoon Tea but was not as close as I expected. In U.K where the tradition started the Afternoon Tea is served between 3 and 5 PM meanwhile the High Tea is served between 5 and 8 PM and it is more a dinner or supper because they serve meat, poultry and fish. Also, de Afternoon Tea is also call Low Tea because is served in low tables near a nice fireplace, served in Tea Rooms. The High Tea is served most of the time in high tables and chairs in regular restaurants. Anyway, this place does not look like a tea room. No table cloths. They rush you from the entry to when you leave. Very rude bringing the tab without you asking for it. There was no one asking you if you liked another tea. Or at least a hot water to keep the old tea leaves to go one more time. They did not offer even water. Now, the menu...in a real Tea Room, they serve Sandwiches, Scones and Pastries and of course tea. They serve 6 different Sandwiches, Fresh Baked Plain and Fruit Scones and Tea Pastries and Cakes. Clotted Cream and Marmalade. Sandwiches are served at least 3 or 4 per person. Well, the above menu was not even close, here. We got a few things, tasty bite -size accompaniments, yes, about 12 in total each person. For the money paid I thing the menu lacks of servings. A cold Quiche which I thing is not right, Quiches are served always warm. Marmalade, only one and in a jar. I think you got the picture.... read more

Went for afternoon tea as a special treat for my daughter and I. The food was set at the table before we arrived, and clearly was not freshly prepared. The bread and sandwich items were all stale, aside from the pastries. We had to wait a long time for the tea cart to arrive. You can only have one selection of tea. Service was nonexistent after that. I had to track someone down to pay the bill, then track them down again to take my card and then again to get it back! For the price of the tea service, plus the additional charges (wellness, credit card fee, gratuity...) I expected a lot more. This place has a very basic atmosphere. I felt chilled and the workers there were everything but pleasant. They took my food without even asking if I was finished. We were rushed to be out of there within an hour because they had a reservation coming in - there were more than enough open tables. Overall terrible experience and do not recommend. I randomly Googled "breakfast in Edina" and the Lynhall was the first spot that popped up in my maps. Eager to try something new, my boyfriend and I came in on a Monday morning (not too busy). The inside of the Lynhall is BEAUTIFUL. The paint inside is composed of many neutral colors and there are lots of beautiful light fixtures with cute plants around the cafe too. We were seated almost immediately and our server was very nice and friendly. Service was quick too, we got our food maybe 10 mins after ordering. The food was delicious and reasonably priced as well. I definitely recommend coming here during a weekday morning. I will be coming again in the future to try their afternoon tea! read more
