Lovely evening out. We made reservations early before catching a show at Vinegar Hill and it was the perfect start for the evening. Andy was our server and he was knowledgeable about the menu and had a charming personality. The food was in abundance and savory. Looking forward to the next trip back!

I could not recommend Lost Fire more! It is amazing. The ambiance is 10/10, service also 10/10 and most importantly the food is top notch. I got the 10 oz filet and garlic mash. I've never had such a perfectly cooked filet in my life. The garlic mash was good but I really wish I opted for the smoked, roasted baby potatoes because those are the real star. It was my bday dinner and the server handed me a postcard upon arrival. It's the small things that set them apart. If you find yourself in Kennebunkport, go, eat & enjoy.

Wow! What an amazing steak spot. Make sure to make a reservation because it's hard to get into, even for the bar. The bar is really pretty with TVs and a fun vibe. The dining room is a little fancier with lots of tables. The service was fantastic and everything we got for food was amazing. We got the tomahawk special and it was cooked perfectly. The salad, sides, drinks, dessert. Everything was well done. I will have to come back!

When in Southern Maine, make this dining experience a stop. Pro tip, when planning that stop, make reservations, do not try to do a walk-in (we went on a Sunday night and they were packed - so grateful for reservations. For a started, I would suggest the grilled provolone. My wife had the shrimp with a butternut squash side and I got the NY Strip with creamed spinach. We finished with Blueberry Gelato. Great place that we go to anytime we come to Maine.

The absolute best restaurant around. From the drinks to the food everything is top flight. I love the June Bug and the porterhouse. The bartenders give expert service. The bar is great for socializing and meeting people.

In my Top 100 restaurants. A Fantastic meal. It's worth the hype and high demand to get in. Wow! Where do I even start on this review? First off, I have been to some of the best barbecue/steakhouses in the USA, and this one maybe is / if not the best I have been too. Definitely in my top 10. Unlike most high end steakhouse restaurants, this one has a more casual relaxed romantic feel inside and out. The setting is romantic and it is located off the map slightly north of kennebunkport Maine. Think in the woods feel and setting. The restaurant decor is unlike any place I have ever been. I made my online reservation 1 month in advance so you know. The parking lot was completely filled when we drove up. The service to start was something I have never experienced before. We were celebrating a special occasion and they put us in a private table location. Jennifer was our waitress and I have to say in this review that she was probably one of the best / fun waitresses I have ever had at a restaurant. Thank u so much for the laughs and experience. Your amazing! The food was literally perfect! /yes I said that, everything served was amazing. Please. Can I be lucky enough to go there again? Mail order. lol. Not possible....... Maybe another trip across the country someday.... lol. Would've been nice to meet the chef. Ok, now for the amazing food review. The tableside bread with the 2 dips was unlike anything I have ever had. So much bright flavor that we bought the cooks (book) just to take the recipe home with us. Just fantastic! My picture shows it half eaten already, opps.... The Atlantic salmon was amazing....Period The grilled provolone cheese dish was amazing.... The heart of Palm salad was great, a little small tho, more please lol. The bread pudding desert was to die for, come on. Just ridiculously good. Most importantly- The bone in ribeye steak I ordered was a perfect 10 for me. Cooked to perfection and not overly seasoned or flared up. Just traditional wood fire tastes that makes this place so unique. It's like a mixture of Argentina & Italian cooking.. oh my - that was simply perfection. Simplicity sometimes is always the best cooking technique. Wowzers...... In conclusion, I wish someday I get the experience to taste this restaurant again. It was simply perfection in every way. Walking out I even bought the $35 book of the recipes. Unfortunately I don't own a type of barbecue that I can cook 24hr with. Guess I'll start with the dips and seasonings. I would absolutely highly recommend this restaurant to you especially for romantic couples and groups. Please let me know how your experience goes ? Thank you Lost Fire. Your amazing.....

The Lost Fire was truly an unforgettable dining experience! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful inside--warm, inviting, and full of character. Our waiter was incredible and made the night even more special. We're from Omaha, NE (so we know our steaks!), and since we arrived a bit early, he actually took the time to show us the cuts before we ordered. Such amazing service and such a kind, genuine person! The food was outstanding--perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can really tell the care and craftsmanship that goes into every dish. Between the atmosphere, the service, and the food, everything exceeded our expectations. I would recommend The Lost Fire over and over again to anyone visiting Kennebunkport--it's an absolute must-try!

We reserved a table at The Lost Fire upon the recommendation of my brother and his wife. They ate here last year. We settled on having our anniversary dinner here on July 3rd. Our anniversary is the 4th, but many things are closed and we wanted to dine here. The interior is SO well done with a couple of private dining rooms available. Just a super vibe here. Andy, our waiter, was magnificent!! I would highly recommend that you request him. He timed everything perfectly and we were never rushed nor wanting for anything. Andy suggested the Elote appetizer which was a special that night. Our favorite restaurant in the country is Elote in Sedona, so we took that as a sign and ordered it. It was delicious! He also offered us the beef special of the evening, which was a A5 Australian Wagyu (my favorite type of beef) Tomahawk Ribeye. We ordered it medium so the fat was able to render. We usually order our steaks medium rare, but a nice ribeye is best enjoyed at medium. Andy agreed. It was really delicious!! We also ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and they were fine. They gave us two dipping sauces for the steak, which were both fantastic!! I also enjoyed the creamed spinach. For a couple of decades that dish at Stubbs in Austin was my favorite, but The Lost Fire's creamed spinach (served in a crock) tops the list now. WOW!! Chef uses his grandmother's recipe for bread pudding so we tried that and loved it! It's made with croissants. Just amazing. This place is a true gem. Mainers are lucky to have it. We hope to return soon. Wow!

What a perfect dining experience. Everything we ate was exceptional. The empanadas are homemade, baked with different flavors daily. The steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. They also give you two types of chimichurri for your dishes. The creamed spinach tasted like fresh spinach, and not too creamy. It did have some cheese brûléed on top was was nice. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and personal. And the vibes here are immaculate. Such a well decorated restaurant. Everything was perfect

Meh for the $200 bill. Started with "their" focaccia - two tiny squares. Was forced to get played out fries with my steak, instead of a baked potato, which was disappointing. Steak was tasty but not the greatest and seriously have gotten steaks as good at yes, Longhorn! Portions were smallish. Thinking the place is overrated. Maybe alcohol helps.

The waitress had a wonderful personality, quickwitted, attentive, and smiling. All the characters I look for in a good wait staff.. ambiance was loud but comfortable. The food was amazing the steak literally the best I've ever had highly recommend. Would love to go back when in the area!

The service was quite nice, it truly was a unique experience. I give it 4 stars simply because for the price, I'd expect everything to be perfect and there was on item in the tasting the neither myself nor my partner enjoyed as it tasted a little undercooked - it involved Lima beans. Other than that, I highly recommend this spot. Not a great place for kids. Dress nice and know that parking is easy. Settle in and enjoy a unique experience in a very pleasant ambiance.

We made…read morea reservation at The White Barn Inn Restaurant about a month in advance to celebrate my birthday, noting both the occasion and a simple seating request due to my husband's height. Upon arrival, we were initially seated in what felt more like a brightly lit, casual tavern or breakfast room, completely at odds with the refined dining experience we expected. Surrounded by families and very casual attire, it was confusing and frankly off-putting. After asking the host stand, we were eventually moved to the actual dining room, which was beautiful - dim, elegant, and exactly the ambiance we had hoped for. Service throughout the evening was polished and professional, and every dish was plated beautifully. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. While we understand that tasting menus consist of smaller portions, each course, just two or three bites, was entirely forgettable. The flavors lacked balance and subtlety, which is surprising at this price point. The beef tartare in a cigar like wrapper was very mid. One of my early courses was a scallop dish, and the scallops were cooked so poorly they were the rubberiest I've ever had (an immediate red flag in a restaurant of this caliber). My main course, a tenderloin, arrived as an overcooked end piece. After sending it back and requesting rare, it returned slightly less well done, still an end cut, and completely overwhelmed by a salty, heavy red wine demi-glace that tasted more like something from a packet than a refined sauce. It was one of the least appetizing beef dishes I have perhaps ever had. The cheese plate featured Great Hill Blue which some might love but is available at my local Stop & Shop so didn't really knock my socks off, a boring cheddar and a third cheese I can't even recall. At a restaurant of this caliber, I was expecting a much more curated collection of exciting, super, stinky cheeses that one could not find at a chain grocery store. At nearly $700 for two people (with a few drinks and a multi-course menu), the experience simply did not come close to justifying the cost. The following night, we had a $200 dinner at Chez Rosa, the Little French bisto in downtown Kennebunkport. The meal there FAR surpassed this meal in both flavor and execution. Based on our experience--and what seems to be echoed in more recent reviews--the quality of the food here no longer matches its reputation or price point. This was meant to be a special occasion destination, but instead left us feeling frustrated and genuinely let down.

We started the evening with cocktails which were very much to our liking, followed by a delicious appetizer of lobster risotto that we shared. We both ordered the short ribs which were mouthwatering and cooked to perfection that the meat fell off the bone. The servings were enough where we took the bones and whatever meat was left to make a delicious beef soup. Neither one of us were up for dessert but decided to get two to go, which we downed once we got home. And they were both delicious. In closing, I'd be remiss without saying a good word about our server Keila. She was warm, friendly, funny, and very attentive to our table. She made our night to enjoyable! Thanks you Keila ! Here's what doesn't seem to have changed: it's an attractive, slightly out-of-the-way dining spot that has a very nice bar, comfy seating on a patio and inside, good servers (thank you Heather!), and a menu with a lot of tasty choices. We continue to recommend it, although hesitantly. There have been some changes, in our opinion, that left us just a little disappointed, hence four stars not five. Blackened salmon: pretty good but not much blackened and just a little bit dry. Seafood poblano with clams and scallops: excellent, well seasoned. Calamari: Crunchy but much too chewy. Yummy spinach, a crab cake that tasted bland. Sourdough bread wasn't warm and left us wanting. Fine bar choices with local beers. The romaine salad was, well, unusual, with a blueberry vinaigrette that was awfully sweet for our taste and, frankly, kind of hard to cut. Final verdict? Not quite up to what we hoped for after our experience a dozen years ago. Maybe that's us; memory can be tricky. But we came away not quite as happy as the last time for sure and a little more cautious in recommending the restaurant. If you're curious, entree prices generally in the $30s, appetizers $12-20, cocktails around 12-15. We're giving the Tavern four stars, but 3.5 would be closer to our preference.
