This is a classy, quiet, well appointed hotel bar, in a hotel that I'd never heard of. It's great for conversation, but not so good for being cozy, as the chairs are big and comfy, and there didn't seem to be much in the way of couples' seating. Our drinks were well done, from a menu that suggest this place is serious about its cocktails. This lounge is located inside the almost 100 year old Warwick hotel. With a lot of Southern charm and a mid century aesthetic, it's definitely a place to grab a drink and check out if you are in the area. There's no food discounts on happy hour and the food prices are pretty typical for a hotel restaurant/bar, but the crab cakes were full of meat and good, as well as the lobster mac and cheese. We stopped by The Library last night (Tuesday) for Happy Hour with a few friends. Immediately, I felt comfortable and relaxed. The atmosphere feels like an old school lounge, fully furtnished with leather wingback chairs, and old books organized in the book shelf. At 7pm, when Happy Hour is finished, they have live music. It is an eclectic crowd. When we arrived at 5:30, it felt as if we were the youngest people there. Then, other starting filling the space closer to 7pm. It is a 50/50 split of hotel guests and outside folk wandering in for the legit Happy Hour. Happy Hour is Sunday thru Thursday from 4pm until 7pm. Everything on the bar menu is 50% off and you better be careful, because it adds up so quick. I ordered quite a few Old Fashioned's, normally priced at $16. They were potent and tasty. Our group munched on a variety of appetizers and entrees. I ordered the Cesar salad and the margherita flatbread. The portion sizes blew me away. My Cesar salad filled me up so much that I was only able to eat two slices of my flatbread. At the end of the evening, after six drinks, two appetizers, and two entrees (split between Hubby and I), the bill came to a whopping $80. Not bad when you add everything up. But the original bill would have been $160. We had a great time with good friends in a new and eclectic spot. I am already planning my next night out ;) read more

When we stayed at the Melrose this place had just re-opened. SARSCOV2 comeback kinda re-opening. It's absolutely beautiful. It has so much character and charm. There's seating at the bar and tables throughout with nice comfy chairs. There's also a piano. Unfortunately there was no live music, but they were playing some awesome jazz on the speakers! Been a long time since I've been in a jazz bar. This was a great experience. The bartender, Kelly, was a jewel and made great drinks. Jameson on the rocks with a splash of water is gonna cost you $11. Unfortunately there was no happy hour pricing. If you want supper here is your option in the hotel. You can also call for room service. We were starving so we pigged out and I drank like I had just ran a marathon through the Sahara Desert. We started off with Maryland style crab cakes. These were meaty and tasty, but a bit on the dry side. A good option though. Next we got the truffle lobster and crab mac-n-cheese. This dish was big on taste, but lacking on protein. It could've used more lobster and crab and a little spice would really set it off. Lastly we got the shrimp tacos. These again were very tasty and may favorite for the evening. My only complaint was with the tortillas. They were a bit tough. A beautiful and eloquent room with lots of charm and positive energy. Definitely worth a visit. I would eat and drink here again. Please note that it is not a jazz bar. Bartender says music changes pretty much daily. Personally, I think the jazz is the way to go here. read more

This was honestly the WORST service i have EVER received at a bar, a hotel bar especially. First, it was so overcrowded and over capacity there is no choice but to stand. Servers will yell at you and tell you to get out of their way. Once you move, another server will yell at you again for getting in their way. Drinks were also disgusting for the price paid. Wait staff clearly has poor training. Would never return to this location and would not recommend. There was also definitely a lot of seedy/sketchy activity going on and so i would not consider it a safe atmosphere. Save your time and money. read more

I've lived in Dallas since 2009, and I've had consistently amazing service here. The staff are always accommodating and friendly, the drinks are some of the best you'll have on "the strip," and the food is spectacular. (I'm assuming the adjacent "Landmark Restaurant" kitchen is responsible for the food-- which is strange, considering I've never seen a single soul dining there.) The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that the place can get a little difficult to find good service on nights when there is an entertainer singing, and on usually busy Friday and Saturday nights. This, unfortunately, is the double-edged sword of success. Either way... you must visit this establishment if you live in the Dallas area. You must. read more

Seeming transplanted straight from Manhattan's best, The Library is definitely the coolest bar i've ever been to in Dallas. I wouldn't even really call it a bar...more of a not-so-well-hidden speakeasy that can pack a serious crowd on the right night. With piano driven live music and beyond comfortable seats, The Library's relaxing (book filled, yes this likely used to be a literal library) and soft lit atmosphere is a nice way to relax after a face-stuffing tex-mex dinner that immediately followed my flight into DFW. Drink menu? Yup. Pages upon pages of interesting drinks handcrafted by guys in suits with red ties, never short of a recommendation or some friendly conversation. I had the espresso martini, and for $15...I would say it was well worth it. Other beverages included the apple pie martini and a pair of the BEST irish coffees i've ever tasted. Given it was just shy of 1am, I was not feeling dessert but the menu did include some seriously delicious sounding options. I am quite sure I've found my favorite after work, before dinner or even better, a destination spot for wine tasting and cocktails sipping. What I love about this place is the dark lighting, comfortable leather seating and of course, the majestic bar with its large alcohol bottles and soothing backlighting. The atmospherics felt cozy, warm and may I add, a very sexy vibe. A place where you can really lounge for hours sipping on your favorite elixirs as one decompress after a rough day or as an introduction before a night out in the big city. Service here was quick, drink orders were executed swiftly and the same can be said about getting refills. Our bartender was knowledgeable when asked about wine varietals and was equally complimentary. This is a great spot to stop for a drink during HH. After walking through the Warwick's gorgeous hotel lobby, you can enter into The Library and see the classy decor and old world feel. Our waitress was nice, but it took her a very long time to bring out our drinks. Speaking of drinks, their wine offerings are splendid. The vanilla tasting Chardonnay that I had went a long way and I was so pleased that I ordered a second glass to continue on my chat with my friend that I met there. I love a good piano bar - no, not a dueling piano bar - but a classic piano bar with good cocktails, candlelight, throwback decor ... and really cool bartenders. Library Bar is located inside the Warwick Hotel. Seating in limited, so leave your name with the host, grab a drink at the bar, and hope that you'll get a table soon. The crowd consists of mostly couples in their 50s and 60s - the majority with their faces pulled tightly back, lips plumped ... good people watching. You might find some folks slow dancing or others celebrating some sort of occasion. I really *loved* the performance by the talented and GORGEOUS singer Aubree-Anna and her husband who plays the piano. Drinking here had me feeling like I was part of the yacht club and missing my annual trip to Antigua. Unfortunately I forgot my cable knit sweater to wrap around my waist but I did remember to wear my Sperry's. I walked into this sophisticated joint with a friend and we ordered a few traditional cocktails to start. I tried the wedding cake cocktail which smelled fantastic, faintly sweet and it tasted just as good. Surprisingly it DID actually taste like white wedding cake with an adult twist. Between me and my companion, we tried 5-6 drinks and every one of them was unique, well mixed and delicious with a healthy dose of each respective poison. Our waitress was sweet, attentive, knowledgeable and overall fantastic which brought our experience from a 3 star worthy visit to 4 stellar stars. In addition to great cocktails, we also had the pleasure of listening to the pianist play a myriad of songs, some hit, some miss. People who come here dress well for the most part so don't stroll in looking like you just woke up and threw on your lucky holey jeans and frat t-shirt. The couple of downsides are this place is not cheap and the crowd is almost exclusively older. Come with a little bit of money to burn though and dress the part with your manners intact and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself and be loose as a goose before you know it. read more

I'm writing this review live since I'm here by myself, on a Friday night, at the end of a tiring business stay. So far it's 5 stars- nice vibe, very classy. I don't feel awkward sitting at the bar by myself at all. There's an Aretha Franklin-esque piano diva singing in the background. The scene at 8:40 pm on a Friday night is chill, lots of groups in their mid 30s to 40s. There's a table of ladies celebrating a birthday. There's a couple in their 60s sitting on smoking chairs. There are two Texan gentlemen in the their late 30s chatting at the bar. My dirty martini, with tanqueray gin, is sufficiently dirty. The cocktail list is long but unexciting- lots of sweet sounding dessert drinks, some classic suggestions (eg Manhattan, Bloody Mary, a Tom Collins), as well as some "refreshing cocktails" that sound way to tiki to entice me. Food options are pretty good- cheese boards, Fried somethings, tuna poke, flat breads, hummus, and my pick- the scallops with bacon ($14). It arrives in 10 minutes, the waiter apologizes for the wait. It's pretty small- two scallops on a bed of grits, but cooked perfectly, and the caramelized bacon on top is a great sweet addition to round out the dish. I'd recommend it, unless you are hungry and want something larger, in which case Id order the Burger, which is the same price. The scallops were perfect for me however, since I just wanted something light. As I eat I notice a younger party of 3 sits down. There's a great background lull of conversation supplementing the slow piano jazz. It's a good night. This place held on to its 5 stars, I'd come here again. read more

Of course, we decided to go out on one of the busiest weekends Dallas has seen so far and fortunately we picked the best spot for sitting back without the crazy crowd. Set up so beautifully, I felt my jeans were being upstaged by the amazing decor let alone the people. BUT the best part was no one cared. The unique mix of people set the mood just right. Our waitress was amazing and looked a little like Julianne Moore and Drew Barrymore, so it felt like our own personal celebrity sighting. It seemed like she handled the whole room on her own, but never once forgot our drinks. The only thing off was the kitchen. We order the Global Cheese plate and was little impressed when it finally arrived to our table. We also lucked out that they had a live performance that night. The sounds was a bit loud for the size of the room and acoustics of the wood paneled walls, but she rocked it. A cross between bluesy soul and sweet soft beats had everyone up dancing. The crowd seems much older than most places on that block, but they couldn't have been more fun. Parking is available on the street or you can valet in the back. This is such a cute bar for a midweek or weekend date night. Inside the historic Warwick hotel, it's intimate, dark, has great wine and drink options and lovely live music. It gears more towards the over 40 crowd. But I'm an old soul and enjoy an older crowd so it was perfect to me:-) Also, couples intimately dancing is highly encouraged. Happy hour is 4-7pm. Drinks and happy hour food are half off. Our bartender charged us full price, though we were there during happy hour. However, once he realized it, he immediately corrected it with no issue. I'm sure they have regular self parking, however I valet everywhere in Dallas because its much more convenient or I use a car service or walk given I live in a great proximity to many places including this place. However, I chose to drive given that I was coming from a meeting and my heels were pretty high:-) Be sure to pull into the parking lot from the Cedar Springs side vs the Dickerson side. Valet was $6. Just make sure to get your valet card signed by the bartender before leaving or you'll be paying $26. This is definitely a go to for a really cute date night or after work happy hour with friends.
