Others sat down and ate right away. Odd. Chips and salsa were oily and rather tasteless. No refills on chips and salsa. Who does that?! Cheap owners. Food took 35 minutes and was frankly disgusting visually. Drenched in excessive oil. Cooked at too low of a temp. Clearly! Disgusting. The puff taco for $7.50 was a joke. Slightly puffy. No different than a taco half that price. No crunch, WAY too much oil again. No flavor. Tacos and enchiladas were also FAR too oily to enjoy. Again. Basically zero follow up service. I had to ask for a bill after waiting 15 minutes and was looked at like I was an idiot for doing so. This place was at best a dim flickering light of what it used to be. Not an enjoyable dinner or food.

I was out there the other day and made a mental note to remember it and alas, went for lunch today. I had the Betty's salad with a fried bologna sandwich combo. With a small fountain drink, it was $12 bucks and change. GREAT DEAL! The salad had fresh spinach, bacon, egg, lots of bean sprouts, onion, all the good things Betty's salad should have. The Betty's dressing was great too. The fried bologna... OK, not exactly gourmet, but definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. If this sandwich is on the menu, I have to try it! Their version of this is really great. Your choice of bread (sour dough, white, rye, wheat, etc). It comes with lots of bologna and cheese with your choice of toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, etc). Not as great as G & R Tavern in Waldo (seriously, fried bologna or sandwich spread lovers - you need to go), but a very generous, well-made sandwich. This will probably be my go-to every time I go back. The place is clean, the portions are generous, and the food is really good. Looking forward to return visits!

While passing through town, we stopped off for a bite at Season's Eatings and it is probably the best decision I've made all year. It was hard to choose what to eat, so we each got two sandwiches. I had the broccoli and quinoa burger topped with Robin's special sauce (she described it "like Thousand Island, but better" and I agree) and the Reuben. My friend had the egg salad and also got a grilled cheese. The cheese was locally made and you could tell the difference. I'm glad I got two sandwiches because there is no way I could have picked a favorite. Robin also shared that she sources eggs, honey, maple syrup, and whatever else she can locally. It definitely makes a difference. The hummus and veggies were the perfect appetizer to munch on while Robin made our sandwiches. I gotta say, the dill pickle hummus will probably reappear one night in my dreams. So good and so memorable. A couple of other quick hits: the peanut butter cookie (with PB frosting!) and a cup of Dandy Blend to wash it down. I also love that she serves filtered water and offers a variety of alternative drinks like kombucha and tumeric drinks. I might not be passing through Napoleon anytime soon, but I might make a special trip just to eat here again!

3.5-ish For starters, the name of this restaurant (according…read moreto its own sign) is Taqueria Carnales, not Carnales Taqueria (as listed on Yelp). Anyway, this is a place for people who enjoy highly flavored and spicy food. Seriously, ask them to go easy on the jalapenos if you aren't up for spicy. I ordered everything as is for my first visit for takeout and enjoyed it but it was on the edge of too spicy for me, (chicken grande burrito) without actually crossing the line.Very much crossed the line with the shrimp tacos, imo. I ordered the following: Menudo Soup (made from cow's stomach); Shrimp Tacos and a Chicken Burrito Grande. The estimated prep time was 15 minutes and the food was ready on time. It's a cute, small restaurant that is very clean. While you could choose to dine in, I didn't see anyone eating there and it appears that most of their business is carryout. Upon arriving home, I found that the Menudo Soup had spilled inside the plastic bag. Not too big a deal. The other entrees were packed in styrofoam containers. The burrito was wrapped in paper and foil. My mom had the Menudo Soup and said it was good. She had one of the three shrimp tacos and said it was okay but that she wouldn't crave them. The avocado slices looked very fresh. My mom loves spicy food but she commented that the soup and tacos were very spicy. As for my chicken burrito, it was unexpectedly spicy in a mostly good way. The burrito was stuffed with everything inside - guacamole, rice, chicken, refried beans (very little), cheese and jalapeno peppers. It was a delicious combo but I would have preferred the individual ingredients to be separate. The biggest problem, however, was that the foil wrap made it difficult to cut into the burrito without also cutting into the foil. I think it's more of a "me" issue that might not bother anyone else. Overall, I would order from this restaurant again. The quality is definitely way above Taco Bell, but it's not quite fast food even though it's next to a Subway. Also, I asked if their refried beans were made with lard and I was assured they were vegetarian. If I hadn't seen so many positive reviews on Yelp, I wouldn't have known to check out this spot, but would encourage you to try it too for high quality, authentic Mexican cuisine! EDIT/UPDATE: I tried one of the shrimp tacos that my mom left in the fridge. OMG, it was super spicy to the point of giving me hiccups. Plus, the spiciness seemed to come from a creamy cheese sauce added to the shrimp tacos after they were cooked. I can understand why my mom wouldn't crave them and I would never order them myself. Based on your personal preference for spiciness, let this give you an idea of the level of spiciness that could be added to your food unless you request your dish to be less spicy. Recommend with caveat re spiciness.

YES!!!!! Finally,…read moreafter nearly 10 years living back in Toledo, this place has opened! Real NYC-style chicken and rice. If you ever lived in NYC you know what I'm talking about. This is the real deal. The guy who runs it used to run a deli in Brooklyn. Toledo has plenty of good Lebanese shawarma platters, but this is a different category. Nothing else scratches the itch. They upped their price to about $15, but when they did that they increased the portion size and included a drink and a bag of chips for free, so I think it's still a pretty good deal. Often they'll mix in some fries with the platter, too. As well as lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions and peppers. And they have Vernors, which you can't usually get at NYC halal trucks. So it's almost like NYC-Detroit fusion, the best of both worlds LOL! I haven't tried the rest of their menu much. I tried a lemon chicken sandwich once, and it was not on par with the ones that I've from the better delis in Harlem and The Bronx. It was kind of soggy and salty. I might try more of the subs at some point, but I really think of this as a one dish place for now, in spite of their long menu. I think it's hard to express just how happy I am to have this place a short drive from me. The cost to obtain one of my favorite foods from my home in Toledo went down from about $500 and several hours of travel (the price of a round-trip flight to LaGuardia plus one night in a hotel in Queens) down to about $15 and a 10 minute drive.
