Great food in a small restaurant on the main thoroughfare. The GOOD: Food was delicious. The hot salsa was truly hot and tongue-numbling. Chips were fresh. Entree was great. Had two beef tacos and a cheese enchilada. The freshly friend and slightly soft shells made the meal. Very good quality. The BAD: Service was really slow. We had to hunt her down to get more chips, checks, etc. Chips were also 1.50 a basket and you really needed a second basket to get through the queso. Overall impression: Good! If you've got a little bit of extra time to accompany the slow service, this will be a great meal in a really neat restaurant in downtown Grand Rapids. read more

8 1/2 hours after breakfast, we finally got away from Cleveland Clinic, and with Yelp's help, found this nice little place for a late lunch, just 17 minutes before our hotel in Napoleon. Excellent service, delicious food, short wait time, and very reasonable prices! We will definitely come here again, next time we pass through this area! This is not your typical Americanized version, but authentic Mexican food. I ordered the chimichanga - which was more like what I am used to calling a burrito - and it was DELICIOUS! I also had a tamale first, because whenever we try any new place that does real homemade Mexican food, I MUST try a tamale, and it was too notch! First time visit. Gave it two stars because the margaritas aren't terrible. To be really honest, Taco Bell food is better. Service was good, probably because I was only one there. First thing server told me was they were closing in 30 minutes, 7:30 now, so don't order anything deep fried or cooked on grill. Had a burrito, it was dinky, cold and covered with skimpy layer of some kind of red sauce and unmelted cheese. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon, at least for food. read more

This is really good food. Even if it's not "fast" food that's what ok. It is the best in NWO. So you have got to try it.

I often feel sorry for this little restaurant because it seems like no one is ever in there. (I'm assuming competition from mama t's doesn't help) The first time I ate there I went out of pity, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food is really good, very authentic tasting. The prices are even better. The location used to belong to an old fashioned ice cream shop, and I believe Fernando's is still keeping that tradition alive, so you can even get ice cream for dessert. If anyone who has or even thought of attending Frenandos restaurant in Grandrapids I beg you to choose again. We went in with my family. My dad, myself my sister and our kids. Waited over 30mins for drinks, then almost 2hours for our food which then showed up and was cold. We let our server know and then were told that if we didn't like the cold beans on our food that we wouldn't be served at all. I asked to speak to Fernando himself who then stuck his finger in my face and told me to get the F@&# out of his restaurant claims I never tip when there. However this was my first time here and will most defiantly be the last!! Please do not do business with a man who would speak to anyone this way especially with children present!!! read more

The Taco with two soft corn tortias , they used roast beef that was so greasy ,and the shells were so full of grease . I could squeeze this taco in my hand and all the grease came on my hand . I was looking for authentic corn tortias with carnasada meat , cilantro , onion , and lime . Was the worst taco I have ever had ! Being from California that one thing, I'm so wanting all the time . I was beyond disappointed . The waitress very nice , clean place . It does serve food that are fries and hamburgers . But , the authentic corn tortia taco gets a F . But , other than that , order fries and hamburger you may be happy . read more

The managers of this place are the rudest people I have ever dealt with. I went in there with some friends a few weeks ago and spent a little over $10 on some ice cream cones for each of us. We then proceeded to take them outside to sit on a bench and enjoy them. I became thirsty and went in to get a glass (cup) or whatever of water and the owner said it would be $0.25 cents for the cup (as I said I just spent $10 in their establishment). I declined and she game me a large plastic cup of ice water that I had to stand there and drink and then she had to wash the cup (hopefully). I went back outside. A little while later I went back in......still thirsty and asked what they had cold to drink that I could BUY. She told me and I said I'll take a large diet whatever. She reached for the paper cup and I said never mind that I would just buy the cup (the cup she was going to put the soft drink in) and get ice water again. She put that cup back and was giving me a very tiny cup.......I asked why I couldn't buy the larger cup for $0.50 or even $0.75 and she said "we just don't do that". Mind you again I just spent $10. When I told her I didn't understand; that I'm willing to pay for the cup (I know they cost lots and lots and lots of money) she then told me to leave and take my business down the street to the Marathon station. Is that how small businesses are supposed to treat their customers? I will never step foot in that place again and this review is also going on facebook. read more
