This is an EPIC FIND. It's pretty unassuming to walk into, but you're so warmly greeted, it's hard not to smile from the moment you sit down. The food? Crazy authentic Mexican food, easily the best tacos I've ever ordered. NO LIE. High praise for the Quesaburria, you'll want two of those. And the Elote is absolute perfection!

I am a terrible person. It's taken me WAY too long to visit Lowrider, and I blame no one but myself. Everyone is unbelievably friendly, and as a first-timer, I immediately felt at ease. And the food? It is outrageously perfect. The menu covers a lot of ground, and the variety of options for something as simple as a taco begs you to come back again and again. Of course, the delicious flavors and fresh ingredients don't hurt. While parking isn't super apparent, there is almost always a spot or two right in front, and there is also easy street parking and parking lots within a block. That is to say, don't let its slightly odd and easy-to-miss location scare you off. Add it to your to-do list for lunch options if you work downtown, and if aren't often in the area, I 100% suggest going out of your way to check Lowrider out. And if you ever go to the Downtown Library, you HAVE to add a stop to LC. Simple, authentic, delicious, and super friendly. Lowrider is a perfect downtown cafe for anyone who likes good food and wants to keep their money local.

Awemazing!!! (Awesome service and amazing food!) LOL! The ambience definitely gives West Coast vibes. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to have consistent hours of operation. There was a few times I visited during what I thought was the restaurant's hours but, discovered they were closed.

Just tried to go for the first time. Parallel parked on the busy street, paid the meter, walked over, and alas...closed. It's 4:30 on a Friday and Apple Maps clearly indicates them as open until 8 pm. Extremely frustrating when companies do not abide by their listed hours. I probably won't even give it another chance because that just burns my biscuits. What a shame, they're probably as amazing as the reviews claimed...I guess call before you try to visit. ‍

First time eating here. Breakfast tacos were great! Cute place. Had some street parking directly in front of restaurant.

First, the vegan menu is extensive. So much to choose from. I had the loaded vegan taco with corn tortillas and the chorizo vegan burrito. I started with the taco, and it was, by far, the best vegan taco I have ever had. Then I started on the vegan chorizo burrito and I found out what heaven tastes like. Amazing! The staff is incredible, the owner, Jacob, personally greeted me, and my server Veronica was so nice! A must visit and eat in downtown Toledo!Vegan Chorizo Burrito

First time to this cafe. Being a Toledo native, it reminded me of the cafes out in East LA, really dope ambiance and vibe, great service and makes you feel like home! Always great to see La Raza doing good, bringing the culture to Toledo! Definitely recommend here, great food also will come back Órale!

Cannot give it enough Stars for genuine customer service, one of the coolest experiences we have had yet dining out. Great location by the downtown library (check it out, worth it). Walked in and was greeted right away, and told it may be a minute due to crowd (end of lunch), no problem. Plenty of comfortable sofas to chill while u wait. Once seated, service was spot on and friendly, our waitress was awesome & made my 1/2 cut sweet tea perfect. We ordered the street taco sampler, and you get four tacos, each one was so loaded u could have 4 more out of the meats, plenty of it. The tacos were awesome, very tasty & fresh. My wife and Cousin did the Chimichangas which I tried and they were also very good. Prices were right & everything was delicious. The best part of our dining experience was that it was my Cousin's Birthday and she was treated to a Birthday Serenade that was unexpected, but beautifully delivered. Very well done (Thank You). Definitely will be back when in Toledo !!!

Breakfast tacos with chorizo. Even better than they look.

Hands-down the best Mexican food in downtown Toledo. The owners and workers are some of the friendliest people in the business and you cannot go wrong ordering anything at all here. Check them out if you're in the area and, if you're not, make a special trip. It'll be worth it, I promise.

    Best tacos in Toledo!!

Just as good as always. This is THE best spot for tacos in Toledo. The owners are some good a$$ folks. They employ some of the people most business owners wouldn't look twice at. And those people are so genuinely HAPPY to be present and working. I can't say enough about the food or the atmosphere. It's a whole vibe. I wish they had a a liquor license. If the coffee and smoothies are that good I can only imagine what they could do with some tequila and fresh lime juice.

Interior couches. Regular tables and counter as well.

3.5-ish For starters, the name of this restaurant (according…read moreto its own sign) is Taqueria Carnales, not Carnales Taqueria (as listed on Yelp). Anyway, this is a place for people who enjoy highly flavored and spicy food. Seriously, ask them to go easy on the jalapenos if you aren't up for spicy. I ordered everything as is for my first visit for takeout and enjoyed it but it was on the edge of too spicy for me, (chicken grande burrito) without actually crossing the line.Very much crossed the line with the shrimp tacos, imo. I ordered the following: Menudo Soup (made from cow's stomach); Shrimp Tacos and a Chicken Burrito Grande. The estimated prep time was 15 minutes and the food was ready on time. It's a cute, small restaurant that is very clean. While you could choose to dine in, I didn't see anyone eating there and it appears that most of their business is carryout. Upon arriving home, I found that the Menudo Soup had spilled inside the plastic bag. Not too big a deal. The other entrees were packed in styrofoam containers. The burrito was wrapped in paper and foil. My mom had the Menudo Soup and said it was good. She had one of the three shrimp tacos and said it was okay but that she wouldn't crave them. The avocado slices looked very fresh. My mom loves spicy food but she commented that the soup and tacos were very spicy. As for my chicken burrito, it was unexpectedly spicy in a mostly good way. The burrito was stuffed with everything inside - guacamole, rice, chicken, refried beans (very little), cheese and jalapeno peppers. It was a delicious combo but I would have preferred the individual ingredients to be separate. The biggest problem, however, was that the foil wrap made it difficult to cut into the burrito without also cutting into the foil. I think it's more of a "me" issue that might not bother anyone else. Overall, I would order from this restaurant again. The quality is definitely way above Taco Bell, but it's not quite fast food even though it's next to a Subway. Also, I asked if their refried beans were made with lard and I was assured they were vegetarian. If I hadn't seen so many positive reviews on Yelp, I wouldn't have known to check out this spot, but would encourage you to try it too for high quality, authentic Mexican cuisine! EDIT/UPDATE: I tried one of the shrimp tacos that my mom left in the fridge. OMG, it was super spicy to the point of giving me hiccups. Plus, the spiciness seemed to come from a creamy cheese sauce added to the shrimp tacos after they were cooked. I can understand why my mom wouldn't crave them and I would never order them myself. Based on your personal preference for spiciness, let this give you an idea of the level of spiciness that could be added to your food unless you request your dish to be less spicy. Recommend with caveat re spiciness.

It was a really generous and large Junior Burrito and it was absolutely delicious. The lettuce was super crisp and fresh. Meats were tender juicy and flavorful. Having one a mile from my home is wonderful. I get tacos like at least once a week on average now. They're usually open 11ish to 9ish, closed Sundays. But there can be some variation from day to day. Check their facebook, they post their hours each day there. Everything is good, but the barbacoa is especially good. It has a very rich flavor to it. They have three different sauces. If you order three tacos you usually get all three sauces. If you order fewer, you get fewer sauces (though you could probably ask for extra sauces, I haven't tried). They'll bring the food out to your car after you order, so you don't have to wait outside in bad weather. You can also call ahead to order so that the food will be ready when you arrive, although you may need to wait when you arrive anyway if they're busy. If you just show up and order, it's still pretty quick.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was a bit disappointed because it somehow didn't have a warm welcoming ambiance to me. I could see where it could have a cool vibe in warmer weather as there is an outdoor patio and garage doors that can open up the front of the restaurant. As it was December, it was just a basic restaurant without a lot of frills. The outside actually looked more inviting than the inside. I found my party and we had several tables pushed together to accommodate the seven of us. So far, everything is okay as we perused the menu, which offered a variety of selections- including build your own salads and tacos. There were also a number of tacos and bowls. Each entree also provides the number of calories. I ordered a fire southwest chicken bowl which came with rice, black beans, corn, lettuce, white meat chicken, pico de gallo, cheese and a southwest flavored creamy dressing. (See the picture of the bowl below.) I also ordered a side of guacamole which came in a small plastic container that seemed as if it had been setting for a while- didn't seem freshly scooped. The bowl wasn't anything horrible but definitely nothing I'll crave. I couldn't find the chicken at first because it was buried under other layers of ingredients. I didn't eat the rice because it didn't seem to be flavored. The portion was pretty generous. However, it came in a cardboard bowl with plastic silverware- which struck me as odd because it's not a fast food restaurant. We ordered from a server who waited on our table and entrees were brought out to us. Just seemed that washable bowls and silverware would have been more appropriate. Also, don't think about ordering coffee or herbal tea as it's not available. At least water was served in a glass. I think it matters what one orders as to how this restaurant is rated. One person at our table ordered a plate of nachos and the portion was both huge and looked delicious. A couple of people ordered tacos that they found too spicy. One person mentioned it to our server and it was promptly replaced. The person who had been there before ordered two make your own tacos and enjoyed them. I think it's best to order any sauces on the side to determine how spicy and whether or not it's something you like. I had ordered my bowl exactly as it came and was stuck with the seasoned sauce that wasn't too spicy but wasn't really a match for my taste preferences. I think if I ever found myself back at Condado that I would build my own entree and order sauce on the side- and that's my recommendation for anyone else new to this restaurant. I would try it again but wouldn't make a point of running back. I did note that the restaurant passed its health inspection with a score of 100%, which is commendable, so my rating is simply based on my personal experience.
