Got referred here by a buddy. Had to pay for chips and salsa which was weird for a Mexican restaurant. But I got the blue dream taco, shrimp taco and the heater taco. I was here for a book club luncheon discussion. It was my first time here although I was really looking forward to it based on the recommendation of someone in our group who had previously dined here. Upon entering the restaurant, I was a bit disappointed because it somehow didn't have a warm welcoming ambiance to me. I could see where it could have a cool vibe in warmer weather as there is an outdoor patio and garage doors that can open up the front of the restaurant. As it was December, it was just a basic restaurant without a lot of frills. The outside actually looked more inviting than the inside. I found my party and we had several tables pushed together to accommodate the seven of us. So far, everything is okay as we perused the menu, which offered a variety of selections- including build your own salads and tacos. There were also a number of tacos and bowls. Each entree also provides the number of calories. I ordered a fire southwest chicken bowl which came with rice, black beans, corn, lettuce, white meat chicken, pico de gallo, cheese and a southwest flavored creamy dressing. (See the picture of the bowl below.) I also ordered a side of guacamole which came in a small plastic container that seemed as if it had been setting for a while- didn't seem freshly scooped. The bowl wasn't anything horrible but definitely nothing I'll crave. I couldn't find the chicken at first because it was buried under other layers of ingredients. I didn't eat the rice because it didn't seem to be flavored. The portion was pretty generous. However, it came in a cardboard bowl with plastic silverware- which struck me as odd because it's not a fast food restaurant. We ordered from a server who waited on our table and entrees were brought out to us. Just seemed that washable bowls and silverware would have been more appropriate. Also, don't think about ordering coffee or herbal tea as it's not available. At least water was served in a glass. I think it matters what one orders as to how this restaurant is rated. One person at our table ordered a plate of nachos and the portion was both huge and looked delicious. A couple of people ordered tacos that they found too spicy. One person mentioned it to our server and it was promptly replaced. The person who had been there before ordered two make your own tacos and enjoyed them. I think it's best to order any sauces on the side to determine how spicy and whether or not it's something you like. I had ordered my bowl exactly as it came and was stuck with the seasoned sauce that wasn't too spicy but wasn't really a match for my taste preferences. I think if I ever found myself back at Condado that I would build my own entree and order sauce on the side- and that's my recommendation for anyone else new to this restaurant. I would try it again but wouldn't make a point of running back. I did note that the restaurant passed its health inspection with a score of 100%, which is commendable, so my rating is simply based on my personal experience. read more

While in town visiting my Mom, I met up with a friend for dinner at Condado Tacos. She mentioned it was a chain but had recently come to the Toledo area. I love all of the fun, funky local art and graffiti that decorated the entire interior. The service was fast and friendly. Since it was happy hour, we started with an order their three dips - queso, guacamole, and street corn. For my meal, I opted for two of their pre-designed tacos: one with beef and one with pork (can't remember their names now but both were "recommended" and marked as favorites on the menu). The tacos are large and stuffed full of delicious fillings and toppings. I really loved the build-your-own taco option and would definitely do that the next time I came. This is definitely a cool concept and a tasty taco spot in the good ole' TOL. read more

I really do not understand the negative reviews. We come here often and have always had great service and food. I'm so over everyone saying "it's not authentic"... who cares!?!? I guess you could call Condado a Mexican restaurant if you want to, but it's more like a really large hipster taco truck with inside seating and no wheels. Did I hear someone say "Hipster vibe?" Yes, Condado has a hipster vibe. From the music to the decor to the waitstaff, this place, like an incessantly shrieking harpy, screams 'hipster!' Take that as you will; personally, I'm a'ight wit it. Candado is open, bright, colorful, noisy, and, when the garage doors are up, airy. It's a pretty fun place. The food is good. It's expensive, and I have some mixed feelings about it, but overall, it works out well. One reviewer felt that it's as though Condado "grabbed every left over from the fridge and threw it on a tortilla." Actually, yeah. Kinda, maybe. Some of the flavor combos did seem pretty random, and not particularly well thought out, IMHO. I'll admit right now: I wasn't adventurous with my ordering; I got the "pepperoni and cheese," so to speak. That is, I tried a traditional chorizo taco (3 bucks), and both types of steak tacos (5 bucks each). The chorizo was solid, but certainly nothing special. It was average sized, and it needed some zest. The steak tacos were both served double-decker style with a flour soft shell, and a hard corn shell...I liked this...I appreciated the increased structural integrity! Both steak tacos were good, and a little larger than expected. What would be nice (and maybe they have this already) if Condado offered some sauce (red, verde, mango habenero, whatever) to add on top...just in case you're the kind of person who like things extra picante. Next time (and there WILL indeed be a next time), I plan to be more ballsy in my choice of tacos. The beer selection is pretty average. I didn't try any of the margs, or mixed drinks, but their descriptions sounded pretty damned legit. Any place that uses Mezcal in a marg is my kind of place. I'll come back sometime when I'm not on the clock. The service was friendly, and the speed of service was great, but I know this place gets crowded and things slow down in the evening. I'm a big taco fan, but this place isn't for me. Give me an "authentic" So. Cal. taco or a gourmet taco and I'll probably love it. This is neither. Tacos have flavored hard corn shells wrapped in soft, flour tortillas with some sort of salad dressing between them. If your looking for the traditional taco this is not your stop (however their traditional taco was good). You have to step out and try one of their many taco combinations you won't be disappointed. Everyone enjoyed their food. The tacos were full and very flavorful. The service was great even during the busy time we were there. They offer some flavorful margaritas to go with your meal as well. Totally recommend this place! I came on a Saturday night with some friends. The wait was about 1.5hrs. We took a trip to Target next door and just chatted for a bit. It was expected with the weekend nights. No biggie! Tacos were HUGE! I tried 4 different ones and they were all so delicious! We also ordered flights of margaritas! Drinks weren't strong, but I didn't mind it :) The restaurant was so upbeat and fun! I love the loud music and artwork on the walls. Reminds me of restaurants back in California. Save yourself the trouble - do not go here if you want good service or hot food. We are from Florida - here for dinner w family after being at hospital all day w dying uncle to come deal w shifty service here. We didn't get all our food and when some came out tacos were very cold. Waiter did not come back and ask us if we wanted refills on drinks. Tab was wrong we had to have them correct it - when we addressed cold tacos manager was pissed that we returned food. Manager Slammed the food on tray as she walked away from us. Very unprofessional we obviously didn't ask for any more food we told them to cancel our order - and we left only having a vodka and some food for my other family member. Someone from food administration should come spot check this place out. They should have comped the little we did get for the manioc inconvenience and service we received. I've been to the Columbus Candado location at least ten times, and let me tell you, this new Toledo spot blows that one OUT OF THE WATER. First, the location and building is amazing. It's huge, and comfortable, and it was heaven to sit out in the gorgeous weather and eat tacos. LITERAL HEAVEN. Second, I mean, the food. There are very few things better than Candado tacos. To start, grab their 3 buds appetizer, it gives you chips and your choice of three dips, but get the bigger 8oz size because you will devour it. Trust. We love the smoked Cheddar Queso, Corn Salsa with Aioli, and Guacamole. For my meal, I got the Heater (spicy steak taco) and Braised and Confused (beef brisket) and they were stupid delicious. The right spice and sweetness, and the combo shells were awesome! Also highly recommend getting a side of pickled red onions and corn salsa. If you have a picky/small kid! Listen, parent to parent, you have a gem here. Not only can you just DIY your own taco/bowl/nachos/whatever, their Small Bud taco is great, and their side of rice is NOT spicy! My daughter (12) gets two chicken small bud tacos and a side of rice. None of its pics and she eats the whole thing. read more

I love this emerging trend of creativity and deliciousness being seen in the Mexican food scene and I think Condado tacos does it better than anyone else. With an industrial hipster laid back atmosphere it's just a fun place to hang out and eat good food. The servers are friendly and helpful. Don't be intimated if culinary creativity isn't your thing, they offer lots of options for tacos that are unique and amazing on their menu but the beauty is that you can also create your own. Their dip choices are great (think guacamole, queso and salsas) and you can also create your own nachos and salads or bowls. Everyone enjoyed their meals and I personally went with one of their delicious taco creations and then I made one of my own. They also have several locations in the Detroit area. Food was nasty all the way around for each person at my table. I had the Cali green and the blue dream . To be specific I ate one which had a acquired taste . But the 2nd tasted like the top of the seasoning bottle fail off and all of the seasoning was in my taco and they tried to spoon it off! I couldn't finish the one and only bite I took on that taco my fiance had nachos she ate 3 bites and girl can eat just like myself . We asked for a lemonade for my son ... My girl tasted it and said hell no. Love the variety of options this place has especially for vegetarians! Came here with some friends for margs and tacos and wasn't disappointed. Their drinks were strong and delicious. Their tacos even better! I ordered the BYO tacos with black beans, Thai chili tofu, and roasted portobellos. I mixed and matched the toppings and sauces, all were super delicious! The tacos were huge and i wasn't able to finish all 3, 2 was more than enough. Personally wasn't the biggest fan of the chili tofu mostly because it was fried tofu. But otherwise really loved it! Meh isn't a strong enough word for this place. If you have allergies, be very careful. Things that are spicy aren't listed as spicy in the taco but the ingredient in another spot is. Some things are in the shell description not the main taco description. Very Americanized flavors. Bland but spicy. Update: Contacted Gretchen from Condado Tacos; a week later no response. Disappointing to say the least. It's hard to make a second first impression When we were seated we told our server it was our first time visiting. Yes I have her name but I will not post who she was. She suggested a happy hour margarita then proceeded to tell us there was only one flavor available although all of the advertisements on the table clearly stated four choices. She offered no suggestions as we ordered, did not make eye contact and had us repeat both our orders and our names several times, obviously serving customers wasn't pressing to her. After we ordered I again pointed out the clearly stated Happy hour advertising she then refused to wait on us. The manager allowed her to refuse us service and finished our order but no one asked if we wanted another beverage although we would have ordered more. It was embarrassing the way she shunned our table. Not one person asked how our food was or if we wanted anything else. The manager just served us the bill. The manager said she told him there was a problem with our table so he took over without even asking us what the problem was. For compensation he offered us 3 free tacos. Although he assured me he would talk to her I doubt we will be back. read more

This is a 3.5-4 star place. They basically have tacos, nachos and bowls. I had 2 bad habit tacos and 2 ooey-gooey tacos and a side of the bacon refried beans. Everything was delicious. They are slightly high priced but worth it. My girlfriend had 2 build your own tacos. We also split a half order of queso and chips. The tacos are filled with a lot of stuff. I ordered 4 tacos and couldn't eat the last one. They also have a descent beer selection and have margarita flights. This review is about take out, we have never dined at Condado Tacos (yet). We had a very positive experience with take out last night. We were craving some tacos and Condado has been on the list of the places we want to try in Toledo. The online ordering system was very easy to use. The wait time for pick-up was very reasonable (~20 min). It was ready on time and they brought it out to the car, the whole process was fast and easy. The packaging was a stand out to me. I know that most people probably don't care how the food is packaged, but I happened to really appreciate the thought that goes into this element of take out. The tacos were all sitting upright in a nice cardboard box, I wish I took a picture (I was too hungry), because I have never had tacos look this polished. Also, they used a lot of paper packaging (which can be recycled after). Okay now on to the most important part: the food!!! These tacos are amazing. These are not Mexican street tacos (which I enjoy immensely as well). These are more on the cutting edge of tacos. Here's a breakdown of our yummy order: Traditional guacamole with chips -- this was sooo good! Usually guac from most taco places in Toledo (including well known chains) 'does not impress me much'. This guac is probably my new favorite in Toledo. It was fresh, flavorful and had the right amount of lime. The pickled red onions were a nice touch. The chips were the perfect accompaniment to the guac, they were fresh, thick and properly seasoned. I enjoy a chip that can stand up to the guac. The Jackpot taco -- WOW! I think this one was our favorite. This is my first time having a vegetarian taco with jackfruit and it did not disappoint. This taco fired on all cylinders: it was super flavorful and had a nice texture (which is usually lacking in most tacos) because of their Sweet Lucy shell (basically a hard corn taco shell inside a soft flour tortilla). The taco is a great value, because it is filled to the brim with the fresh ingredients, and who knew kale on a taco could be so good?! My partner who usually orders tacos with meat really enjoy this taco, which says a lot in itself. Braised+Confused taco -- My partner order this taco. I did not try it, because I do not eat beef, however, I could tell that he really enjoyed it. Plain Jane -- Overall this taco was good. I am usually not a fan of hard shell tacos (find them super messy), but their Kewl Ranch shell packs a lot of flavor and it did not break all over the place which was a bonus. If I had one critique, I felt that it was a little dry. Either they needed to add more of the salsa verde or the chicken should have been more juicy. Korean BBQ taco -- This one came in very close second to the Jackpot taco. I really enjoyed the fusion of Mexican and Asian flavors in this taco. This taco has a little spicy kick from the pickled jalapeños. I do agree with another reviewer who mentioned that their menu could do a better job of indicating that some items are spicy. However, if you read a description and it says jalapeños, I think you should not expect it to be mild. This taco had a nice texture due to the hard shell/soft flour tortilla combo, the pineapple salsa and gochujang (Korean fermented chili paste) bbq sauce were amazing! Overall, very happy with our experience and we will be getting a lot more take out from Condado! read more

The prickly pear margarita is the go to for a drink, with the braised and confused taco (I add chimichurri to mine) for the meal! My only qualms with this restaurant are that the chips always have a texture like they're stale, I don't know if that's the chips they use, how they're frying them or what, but they aren't like regular tortilla chips.
