It's been quite a while since I wrote a review for here. It's still a divey local place in downtown Maumee. The bathrooms are down in the basement so just an FYI for those that might have mobility issues. You order drinks at the bar and then there's a separate counter where you order the pizza. Pizza only. They may have some breadsticks or something every now and again but that's the extent of the food here. The pizza is a thin crust version with toppings big as mountains. If you're not a big topping person then I would suggest just getting a pepperoni pizza which is what I order most of the time. Some of the staff is friendly and others are snarkey which makes them lose a star for me because as you see I come here a lot. Most of the staff know me. They do require you to open a tab or pay as you go which makes sense. Folks either love the pizza or hate it. I'm kind of the in-between person I like the basic pepperoni pizza fine but I don't particularly care for whole mushrooms and sausage that's as big as my hand. The drink prices are reasonable and they do have a rotating craft beer selection of probably six to eight taps which brings me back. Live music daily so its always lively. StilI charge a fee to come during weekends. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

We've been here countless times and the reason is the pizza. This place has been here for a while and they offer live music everyday. They have an old bar that swings cold and strong drinks, but you have to go up to the bar to order. Same with the pizza. Seats are first come, first served and this place gets packed! It's a must try spot.

I saw a post about this place and since I was up that way or so I thought, I really wanted to give it a try. Turns out it was 40 min further away than I thought, but oh well. The neighborhood was really cool, wish I had time to explore. I picked up at 11:45am and when I went in, the place was already jammin'! Crazy since it was so early in the day! Clearly a neighborhood fav! They do thin crust, but definitely do not skimp on the toppings! Ordered the bbq chicken and a build your own with spinach, mushrooms, 1/2 pepperoni & 1/2 sausage. I didn't care for the cheese on the bbq chick (very strong taste & smell), I'd switch that next time & the sausage is spicy if you like spicy! ;) Glad I tried it, didn't love it and not a location I'll be back to anytime soon to give it another try.

After hearing the rave about Village Idiot, I had to find out for myself if they truly lived up to the rave... Curiosity definitely killed the cat. I was neutral about the taste experience but, definitely noticed it's a vibrant and bustling venue that's perfect for socializing with friends and even meeting new people. Service was great but, a bit confusing due to the pizzeria and bar being two separate entities. Overall, I've had better pizza elsewhere but, definitely enjoyed the ambiance.

We were visiting the area recently and this came up as a great lunch option. It's a lively pub atmosphere with fun decorations. I am pretty sure the menu is all pizza which is what we were there for anyway! Service is at the bar/counter but they were helpful and friendly. We opted for the chef's veggie pizza which is basically whatever veggies they have on hand! He did ask if there was anything we "didn't" want but we were all in. We got a pizza stacked with veggies including whole mushrooms. Even with all that, the crust was crispy and delicious. It was just the right size for two very hungry adults to share, so no to-go box. But, we'll go back when we're in the area again. I wasn't a fan of the plastic, paper plate and pizza pan but that's really my only quibble.

Once a year I'm in the area and always stop at The Village Idiot. The pizzas are fantastic and the vibe of the place is great. The bar tenders are friendly and are quick to get your drinks. The wait time can be a little long, but the pizzas are worth it!

Village Idiot is a fun, low-key dive in downtown Maumee, OH. The inside has eclectic decor all around, quite a bit of seating, large bar, and pizza ordering window. Village Idiot only serves tavern style pizzas (byo and specialties). Our group got (2) pizza to share between three of us which was perfect. One may need to wait 20-30 min for a pizza on a busy day but everything comes out piping hot and fresh. One also has to go up to the bar to order drinks but they offered a wide variety at killer prices (capt and diet: $4, busch light: $2, Two Hearted: $5). Be sure to come early for a night they have live music to grab a table and enjoy!

Mad Anthony's: A Dive Bar That Feels Like Home…read more Walking into Mad Anthony's feels like slipping into your favorite flannel shirt--warm, familiar, and a little rough around the edges, but in the best way. It's a dive bar that knows exactly what it is, and it leans into it unapologetically. The beer is cheap, cold, and endless, just the way nature intended. The regulars are the kind of people who will call you "buddy" before they even know your name, and by the end of the night, you might just have a nickname you didn't ask for but secretly love. The building itself is historic, though no one's quite sure how old it actually is--just old enough to have stories, and maybe a few ghosts, if you believe the guy on the corner stool. The crooked pool table in the back adds a layer of excitement (or frustration) to your game, and the food situation? Let's just say they've perfected the fine art of the toaster oven. A hotdog or frozen pizza has never tasted better, especially when served with the kind of charm only a dive bar can muster. And then there's the bathroom. This is where Mad Anthony's truly shines. They've cracked the code to dive-bar bathroom management by making sure the urinals are always packed with ice. It's a quirky, borderline genius trick that keeps the place from smelling like regret, and honestly, it's a level of thoughtfulness you wouldn't expect but deeply appreciate. The lighting is dark, but not "what-did-I-just-sit-on" dark--just enough to make everyone look a little cooler and keep the vibe cozy. Mad Anthony's doesn't try to impress, and that's exactly why it does. It's imperfect in all the right ways, and if you're looking for a bar that feels like an old friend, this is the place.

I've only been to the Downtown Perrysburg location but have been impressed every time. They have a good variety of beers on tap that they make including some rotating seasonal selections. Not a beer drinker? They also have a full bar with specialty cocktails, wine, and NA options. I've stopped in a couple of times for a casual drink at the bar or to enjoy on their amazing summer patio area. They often have events like live music to enjoy so keep an eye out! This visit, I stopped in for brunch with friends. Their menu is smaller but has good variety and is priced well. I got the Biscuits & Gravy which had a handful of biscuits sauced in their house made gravy and topped with fluffy eggs. Delicious! My friend got the Chicken Salad Sliders which came with 3 pretzel bun sliders filled with yummy egg salad and a side option. He chose their chips which were tasty. My husband got the Chicken & Waffles. This was the most expensive but smallest portion. The sandwich itself was good and comes with a side but side options aren't listed on the menu. The entree was served on a large plate and simply looked small in size. Flavors were good but it left room for more food. Overall, this is a great, easy food and drink spot in Perrysburg. They offer their beers on tap but also some are canned for purchase in the to-go fridge. It's in a shopping Center Plaza kind of off of the main road. I have been before but just for a beer. We sat at the bar area and the bartender was really nice. Sorry I didn't get her name. You can tell there's a lot of regulars that come here but we were treated just the same. They have about 10 taps and had a few ipas on there for me. What I really like is the prices. An IPA for $5? Can't hardly find that anymore. So we had two rounds of beer each and got two appetizers. I spinach dip and some pepperoni egg rolls. Both were actually really good. Spinach dip could use some more seasoning but that just seems to be the case almost everywhere anymore. Food came out fast and was delivered hot. Beer was Ice cold. It's kind of a small spot so you're either going to sit at the bar or at one of the few tables that are around the bar area. Lots of TVs around the bar. $31 for both of us. I do recommend.
