Monday $5 Coney dog special with house made chips.
    Bob L.

In 1984 I took a job at an ad agency and was given the Toledo Edison Davis Besse account. The best way from downtown was on Williston Road to Route 2. Over the next 35 years I drove by Blackberry Corner's and was curious. I seemed to be always too busy to stop. I had heard stories about the hospitality, the great breakfast, the pizza and the Coney dogs. After meeting a customer in Catawba Island this morning, I decide to take the time to eat at Blackberry Corner's. I met Brenda, the owner and she recommended to Coney's. They were two for five dollars and were excellent. Brenda said that she starts every morning at 3:30 making the pie. And the pie looked fantastic, although I'm trying to avoid sugar. This friendly tavern is worth your stop if you're heading towards Port Clinton or the Islands. #Bobtravelstoeat

What a fun and surprising, unique take in local pizza. I've heard about this joint for years and was pleased to finally make it in. From the outside Blackberry Corners appears to be a divey joint in an old farmhouse. While it is pretty much just that the interior leaves much to be desired. It's weirdly bright and sparsely decorated with a mish mash of odds and ends that rival between sports bar and homemade cracker barrel ... or something. Some lightning (or less) and a discernible theme would do the place well. But the pizza is pretty solid. We opted for their version of a small supreme and what came out was a treat. The crust is average, thinish and chewy with a nice crisp, but the toppings - while not extravagant - were piled impossibly high and baked on top of the cheese. This allowed everything, sausage and veggies, to retain their integrity and flavor without just getting drowned in cheese grease. It was fresh and refreshing and i highly recommend it! The place also boasts a bevy of homemade pies which are the perfect comfort food follow up to any meal there. We sampled a few and they were all rich and tasty. For what it's worth, drinks are fairly cheap and they have the often coveted but rarely found jalapeño poppers with molten liquid cheddar cheese not just cream cheese. Cheddar wins for sure.

This place is a gem. The staff is friendly and courteous. It has a very small town feel. Big Ohio State fans. Doesn't try to be what it isn't. The homemade pies are truly phenomenal. I highly recommend the Sunday morning buffet. All you can eat, all the goodies. When they are busy, it can take some patience, so sit back and enjoy it. Very family friendly. They also have a few arcade games. Blackberry Corner Tavern is located within a few miles of Magee Marsh State Wildlife Area, Black Swamp Bird Observatory, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge and Metzger Marsh. It is the perfect place to top off a day of biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, or even birdwatching.

Parking the boat was easy but make sure you pull past the pole with the red sticker so you don't block the gas pump for Anchor Pointe. The kitchen closes at 6p and we got there just in time. The place was spotless, which I really appreciated. It was busy and they're short-staffed, so there was a bit of a wait, but the food was absolutely worth it. We ordered the perch basket with fries and a cheeseburger. They were out of onion rings, so we swapped for fries with the burger and I'm glad we did. The fries were fresh cut, crispy, and piping hot. The burger was excellent. I saw another review about the burger saying it had a dense texture and unique seasoning, I think it's because it's an angus beef blend. Whatever it was, it worked because it was delicious. The toasted bun and fresh, crisp toppings pulled it all together. The perch was also fantastic. You can tell it wasn't frozen because the texture was perfect. The breading was light and crispy, and there were even little golden crunchy bits at the bottom. They have indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful lake views and a grassy area out back that is perfect for your 4 legged family member . Animals are allowed on the outdoor seating areas. It's tucked away but if you're anywhere near the marinas, it's worth the stop. Friendly staff, ice cold drinks, and great food. We'll definitely be back!

Overall a good *very casual* place, with a few items to bear in mind:…read more Absolutely the best aspect is simple: location. Hard to find a better place to have a meal on the Lake Erie waterfront in the warmer months... the sunset view is outstanding (and very nice during the day also). Seating is OK: indoor is a little crowded, tables/chairs are pretty basic (not made for great comfort), interior is not "dirty" per se but isn't the cleanest either (lots of flies and other insects buzzing about - and lying dead in the windows)... to be expected when the doors are always open. Nice outdoor area along the water/docks... just watch out for the goose droppings. Service: nice & friendly, but they always seem to be understaffed... even when the place isn't busy. Definitely not "fast" food; you might need to flag down the servers from time to time for drink refills. Music: live music on some nights, otherwise music is played over speakers (way too loud - hard to have a conversation inside... sit outside if you want to talk). Music seems mostly a mix of country & classic rock, which is what one would expect (place gives off a Jimmy Buffet vibe), but... took in-laws there one evening and most of the time they blasted heavy metal over the speakers (Tool), which kind of killed the ambiance (we quickly paid and went outside to catch the sunset). Food: limited menu which is hit or miss. Pizza is great - highly recommend. Have had some of the seafood options - mostly good, but nothing particularly special. Chicken wings were very small portioned for price. Salads were large. **Be careful ordering the "Hamburger" - it isn't like a regular hamburger except in appearance. The patties were not made from traditional ground beef (where one can see the individual ground chunks/pieces), but was instead something like a cross between SPAM and steak in terms of texture... very dense meat patty. It didn't *taste* like hamburger either - it had some kind of seasoning to it (hard to describe... maybe a cross between Greek gyro meat and Corned beef?) and was *incredibly* salty. My wife ordered one and could only eat a few bites; she asked to the rest of us at the table to sample it and the consensus was this: this is *not* a "hamburger". This isn't to say it was bad - just not normal (also upset most of our stomachs that night). We asked the waitress about what was in it - she came back and said it is a special recipe of the cook and he wouldn't divulge. Not sure we would have that again, so be careful.** Parking: not a lot of immediate parking (difficult to maneuver when lot is full), but most of the customers are coming in from the marina or campground (walking). Watch out for golf carts everywhere and kids. Place is far from the cities and hard to find - we stumbled on it by accident, but clearly is popular with locals. Price is ok - paying more for the location than the quality. Worth the visit if not in a hurry.
