Good food, good service. Good prices. This is a hidden gem. Looks like a gas station with one of those gas station restaurants. Looks are deceiving, this is an actual to go restaurant that serves good food. So don't be put of by it's appearance.

Best pizza I could've asked for. The atmosphere's nothing to write home about but the food was a highlight of the trip.

Simple gas station just wish the pumps didn't close before 11 at night. That's the only gas station close to curtice I know of.

Went there Saturday with family and friends. What a great night!…read more Two of us had the lasagna and it was incredible. This isn't the usual lasagna. It's similar to what you know, but different! I bet it had 10 layers. The sauce was definitely made in-house. Not too sweet, not too bitter/sour. The one thing that's different with Calvino's is I couldn't detect or find any ricotta cheese, and I didn't miss it. It was a very generous portion, and it was perfectly cooked. No dry pasta or burned edges. I opted to add some Italian sausage which was the perfect addition. The other person who ordered this added sausage and ground beef and said that his was perfect. Either way, you can't go wrong! Another person at our table ordered the butternut squash ravioli. She was kind enough to let me try a piece and it was absolutely amazing! She ordered it with the olive oil and garlic sauce, which was the perfect pairing. This was as good or better than the butternut squash ravioli at Martini's in Columbus. The pasta had great texture (definitely fresh pasta) and the filling wasn't gluey in any way (this filling can have a tendency for textural issues). I'm definitely ordering it on my next visit! Someone ordered the chicken and pesto sandwich and raved about it. The last person at the table ordered the linguine with olive oil, garlic and mushrooms and again, it was perfection. All entrees were served with bread (ahhhh, those great little nuggets of fresh baked bread, drizzled in butter and sprinkled with cheese...) and a really nice, fresh salad. I would bet that the dressings are all homemade too! From past experience I can attest to the stromboli being outstanding (get the Godfather!)! The pizzas going by the table looked pretty amazing too, but I've not had their pizza. Appearances can be deceiving, but from the looks of the pies and quantity of people ordering them, they have to be pretty great too. Calvino's does not have a full bar, but they do have an extensive wine selection and some nice beers to choose from. If everyone at the table is ordering wine, go for the bottle as it will save you money. They have some really nice, inexpensive wines that pair very well with pasta - you won't break the bank on wine (but you could...)! All in all, it was a great night! The bill for the two of us came to $55.00 (that's including the tip)! The service was great, the food was outstanding - the best Italian meal I've had in Toledo, hands down.

Excellent food, excellent service, some unique dishes. Love the clams and linguine. Great location.read more

The toppings are just... Somehow not right. I got sausage, onions, and peppers, and they were all very strange. The sausage is made in house, but the flavors aren't right for pizza sausage. The onions were too sweet, maybe? The green peppers were probably fine but somehow clashed with the onion and sausage. This may have been a cheese problem, because honestly whatever cheese they are using isn't very good. I feel bad leaving a negative review for a local small business, but with all the rave reviews I had high hopes, and this place was almost a total bust.

Today was my first visit despite living just across the river, and a city-wide pizza passport I received as a Christmas gift from my sister finally sparked the trip. I'm so glad it did. I ordered a personal pan pepperoni pizza (more like a perfectly sized thin crust) and a glass of wine--exactly what I needed to decompress after a stressful week in healthcare. Rickie, the bartender, was attentive, kind, and thoughtful throughout the evening. The pizza makers were apologetic about the delay in getting orders out, but I didn't mind at all--I was perfectly content decompressing with my glass of wine while enjoying the delicious complimentary bread and savory butter. It made for the perfect setting to study for yet another exam. Toward the end of my visit, the manager, Mark, stopped by to chat briefly about some of the cool things happening in our city. Although they're open for dinner only, it's a fantastic spot with great happy hour selections. I'll definitely be back for the meatballs... and more pizza.

I can't remember the last time I didn't eat more than a few bites at a restaurant. The waiter suggested I add chicken and it somehow made it worse. It was watery and not tasty at all. I thought it was just me, but another person in our party ordered the shrimp Alfredo and also didn't finish it. I ended up buying the chicken Milanese salad on my own tab (I was with a party) to go and it was much better. But I shouldn't have to order a different dish to make up for one I didn't eat. Maybe it was just a bad night for the Alfredo pasta dishes but something basic like that should not be poor quality. This was really disappointing because we live 2 hours away and my family would talk up this restaurant for years.

They no longer offer table service so you go to the bar to place your order. I asked for my wings to be VERY well done. I don't know why places struggle with this all you need to do is leave them in the fryer. No rocket science but they still came out soggy. The flavor was good but limp chicken skin is revolting. The burger was advertised as having fresh-cut fries. I see a trend of restaurants saying this and then serving a frozen product that resembles a fresh-cut fry. This is essentially false advertising. My husband said the burger was a frozen patty which is surprising because we have heard ppl rave about this burger. We have had the nachos before and loved the homemade unsalted chips. They were good but severely lacked cheese. Without cheese, all the meat etc just fell right off. My husband had 2 beers, PBR, and with tip our bill was $62! Which brings me to, why am I tipping you? I have to walk up to the bar to get and order my food and to pay my bill. WHY am I tipping you? I did more work to get my food and drink than you did?! To top everything off the owner's child maybe 3 or 4 was running all over and screaming the whole time we were there. Meh, not impressed this time.

Also, if you want a side salad, it's an extra ($6).
