Appetizer trio with mushrooms, pickles, and hot cheese. The batter is *really* soft, fluffy and delicious.

The Mayfly Tavern is a classic neighborhood bar & grill. The staff is completely welcoming to first-timers, and the regulars, of which there are a lot, may give you a bit of a side-eye when you first enter but will be smiling and telling you jokes before long. One might assume there would be a heavy focus on seafood, given the location on the water, but instead, it's more traditional bar food, deep-fried, delicious, homemade, and all made to order. Yes, there is some fish and shrimp, but the regulars seem more focused on chicken and appetizers. I loved everything I tried, except for the reason my friend took me out in the first place: the wings. I ordered mine "fucked up" style, which has the kitchen cooking the wings a second time after they are sauced. The word on the street is they are amazing, and the intent, I believe, is to crisp and fry up the sauce to add to the texture and depth of flavor, but what I received was just slightly burnt and too heavily sauced for my liking. They were still pretty good, but felt like an odd miss for the upcharge. Long story short, the Mayfly should be on your Point Place radar, and I look forward to visiting many times in the future. No question I'll order the fried mushrooms and cheesy jalapeno pretzels again, but I'll likely skip the wings.

Nice local bar and restaurant. I stopped in for early dinner around 4pm after seeing the high ratings and perch on the menu. Everyone was friendly and the place was clean. It looks like there is a nice enclosed patio in the back. The food was good and all very fresh. I had never had perch before and it was really good. The batter was well done and not too thick or greasy. It's definitely a good place to check out in the area.

It's a local bar with really good food. Perfect place for lunch or a early dinner. I would recommend getting there before 7pm to avoid the local bar rush. There isn't enough parking or seating and service is really slow when busy. Both the bar area and bathrooms were clean. There isn't table service so to place your food and beer order you must go to the bar which can be difficult if the place is really busy. Thursday's is $2 Taco night and they're really good. Highly recommended. We've eaten here 3 times the past 2 months and highly recommend it. Only negatives are no table service and the parking lot is terrible.

Mayfly tavern. Let me tell you something, wings are incredible. They have this sauce style called fuck boy. Crazy ass name but it's delicious, double dipped BBQ daddys are insane. I could have had 40 but I made a choice not to, having pot roast this week and I can't sit here and fill up on wings. Perfect spot for a football Sunday. My buddy boost recommended this spot and it's the only thing he's ever been right about. They even gave me a free beer holder, can't remember what you call them. Cootchie holder. No issues with the restroom situation. Easy 10/10 stars.

My dog's groomer is right across the street or else I would have missed out. I walked in and ordered at the register. The menu is written on a chalkboard. I was hoping for a spinach omelette but they were out of spinach (same as last time I was there). Instead I opted for a veggie omelette with cheese. I also ordered a coffee. The way their system works is that you place your order and pay; then you're seated and your beverage/food is brought to your table. I sat in a booth and my coffee was very promptly brought out to me. The ambiance is absolutely adorable with red and white tablecloths and balloons. There is also an ice cream counter. It was a very pleasant setting in which to enjoy my coffee. Within a reasonable amount of time, my omelette was served with a side of toast. The omelette was huge and filled with lots of tasty tomatoes, onions and green peppers, all finely chopped and perfectly seasoned. Hash browns were also tucked inside the omelette. Although the cheese had been forgotten, I didn't miss it too much because the omelette itself was so delicious. The toast was served with delicious homemade strawberry jam. I could only eat half of the omelette and was given a box to take it home. My server was a very sweet young girl who kept checking to see if I needed anymore coffee and if everything tasted good. At a nearby table, a woman spilled her glass of water and people from the kitchen immediately came out to clean it up. They were extremely good spirited and reassured the embarrassed woman that it happened all the time and was no problem. The atmosphere felt very warm and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend Grace's Kitchen in Point Place as a charming spot for breakfast or lunch. It's on Summit Street across from Aunt Linda's Pet Grooming and H&R Block. Check out the picture of my omelette and the inside of Graces Kitchen. (For some reason they appear below my prior review.) While other reviews note that this is a cash-only establishment, I used a credit card both times I was there, though I left a cash tip on the table this time.

Nice selection of beers, I had the cream sickle orange wheat ale that was really tasty. I had the Walleye with mashed potatoes which was very good, nice big piece of Walleye on the plate. Nice atmosphere, friendly service just took a bit to get the food but not a major issue. If you are looking for a nice place for good food and a relaxing atmosphere this is your place!

The drinks were good, but again, a hitch. Service too... So, two of us ordered the French dip sandwich. They were just OK at best. Really no flavor, the roll was kind of wrong and the jus was tasteless. I asked (several times) for some horseradish, and I would guess it's still on its way to the table... 2 folks ordered the fried walleye, and one said it was REALLY good and the other said it was really over cooked. 1 person ordered the burger and said it was great. The last person ordered the salmon and did like it. The standout sides were the brussels sprouts and the fries. Both are very, very good. No comments about the other sides. The person across the way ordered the bruleed sweet potatoes and they looked amazing. The ambiance. What a cool place inside. A cool mix of furnishings with some kitsch factor. Not in a bad way from aesthetics, but in practicality, a big miss. When we were taken to our table, we were presented with a 1950's style dinette and chairs. Again, really kitschy, but not at all fun to sit in. The place has a cool mix of all kinds of stuff, but the noise was deafening. We tried to talk to one another, but it was really hard. Just too much background noise from all the people in a concrete, brick and steel room. Too bad. The drinks... So, I took a chance and ordered my martini. I explained how I wanted it mixed, etc. and the bartender did a superb job! Hats off to him for making a great martini! The big issue was one of our guests wanted a Bloody Mary. The waitress explained that they have great Bloody Mary's as they make their own mix. After the drinks were ordered, the waitress came back to the table to let us know they were out of Bloody Mary mix. Mind you, this is 6:00 on a Saturday. That shouldn't happen. The service... All of the drinks were ordered at the same time, and they came out in a staggered fashion over a period of 15 minutes. Same thing with our dinners. Interestingly, the hold up with the entrees was the 2nd French Dip. I would guess if the guy making the sandwiches saw 2 of the same thing on the same ticket, he'd make them both at the same time. That second sandwich took at least 15 minutes to get to the table. We're all being polite and waiting for his meal to deliver so we can all eat at the same time. Cold fish, anyone? And I'd still like to know where my horseradish went. Oh, parking in the lot to the left of the building is stupid expensive. Park in the garage across the street and save $20 bucks. All in all, our check came to about $100.00 for 3 of us. That's without the tip. My meal was a solid 2 to 3-star event but factoring in the others' opinions and negating the Bloody Mary incident and service, I'll give it 4 stars. Pretty sure I'll go back, but probably not too soon.

After picking up lunch today, I realized I've never reviewed Adams Street Cafe, and honestly that's a huge miss on my part. I've probably eaten here once a week on average for years. It's so consistently delicious that I think I've underestimated just how important it is to the Toledo restaurant scene. The food is always excellent and clearly made from scratch. Nothing tastes premade or mass-produced. And the house-smoked meats? Absolute game changer. Even something as simple as a smoked turkey sandwich is completely next-level. Pro tip: order the Smoked Turkey Bacon Gouda -- it's unreal. The Bacon and Brie burger is another standout, and the daily specials are always worth checking out as they keep the menu fun and inventive. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you haven't been yet, you owe it to yourself to go try it.

Today, I tried something else that I unfortunately didn't love, so I'm rating it 4 stars. Today, I didn't place my to-go order ahead of time and instead walked in and sat at the counter and sipped on a diet pepsi while I waited. I would describe the decor as cozy, rustic farmhouse chic, with lots of pictures of pigs. I had time to take pics while I waited for my order. I stopped in a bit later than the usual lunch rush, so there was literally no one dining in. A couple of people came in to pick up their carryout orders. The server was very friendly and down to earth. I ordered the pepper smoked turkey sandwich based on some reviews that raved about it. Rather than chips or fries, I opted to upgrade to a slaw for $2 more. I couldn't wait to get back to the office and try the food. Before digging in, I took photos because everything looked delicious. The meal was top notch quality. The turkey was thickly sliced with artisan lettuce and a garlic aioli sauce, plus cheddar cheese. The bread was a tasty sour dough. I ordered it without onions because I didn't want onion breath. Despite the high quality ingredients, it somehow wasn't amazing. It was very good but I didn't taste the pepper flavor on the turkey. The slaw was a nice mixture of kale, cabbage and carrots. For my taste, the cream sauce was on the sweet side, whereas my preference is less sweet and more tangy. Nevertheless, the ingredients were very fresh. As I reached the bottom of the bowl, however, there was a lot of runny cream sauce. Again, my personal preference is for less cream; someone else might love it. I know it seems like I am being overly picky, but I should mention that the total cost of my lunch (before tip) was $18.75 (sandwich, slaw and diet pepsi that was a fountain drink with mostly ice). Yes, everything is expensive these days, but I couldn't help being disappointed. I would absolutely return and order the Turkey Reuben in a heartbeat but wouldn't order the pepper turkey sandwich, slaw or soda. I'd also recommend dining in the adorable restaurant rather than eating at an office desk with plastic utensils!
