I don't like shrimp but their alfredo fettuccine is good. The club salad looks delicious and is piled high! The kraut balls are A LOT smaller than I remember but tasted the same- I love them. The place needs updating and I've never noticed the smell of "grease" until today. But I also remember there was a time when people smoked IN the restaurant and I never thought anything of that LOL! Even though some of their dishes are fancy, you don't really have to dress up. The server was prompt and very professional. We never had to wait for refills or for dirty plates to be taken away. We had 7 in our group and they had plenty of room to sit us next to the volleyball team. The menu had a large variety to choose from. We started off with appetizers. We had bacon and brussel sprouts and those were really good. The Pretzel with the cheese, crab cakes everything was delicious .- I totally forgot to take pictures before everyone dug in, So-only have three pictures from the middle of our meal. One person at our table, ordered the Cobb salad and there was plenty of blue cheese on it. It looked fresh and it was a huge portion. My husband got the walleye piccata, which looked really good. He finished it so it must've been tasty. I got the chicken marsala. The chicken was the right thickness, so there was enough of the marsala sauce for every bite. I had to take some home because we had appetizers before hand. We had crème Brulé, carrot, cake, and the peanut butter mousse cake, and everyone shared. The carrot cake was the best in my opinion. It was moist and I don't think they put raisins in theirs, becauseI didn't find any. I forgot to ask everybody else how the rest of the meal was but nobody complained.

Sam B's holds a special place in my heart. As someone who grew up in Bowling Green, it feels like…read moreit's been around forever, and while I know the ownership has changed over the years, the spirit is alive and well. The food is surprisingly dialed in, with high-quality ingredients and deep know-how in the kitchen. Surprising only because the atmosphere and service are a little rough around the edges. Things like chipped plates take a lot away from the otherwise expertly prepared food, and the urgent nature of the service detracts from a proper date night. That said, BG is a college town, and Main Street is the epicenter of drunkenness, so I imagine it would be difficult not to have things set up the way they are -- a place built for the pace of a college town, focused on high-quality but quick meals. And maybe I just need to come back in the summer, when the college kids are gone and the townies take over. But seriously, Sam B's is almost perfect. And somehow that actually does make it perfect, for what it is.

Today they were offering a Bloody Mary Bar where one picks their preferred vodka and can go up to add whatever mix and topping you want. I got a John Daly cocktail which was just under $5. Steal! For food, I got the Brent's Best Burger in the junior size. The regular fries were not my favorite but I loved the burger flavor. Our group also got the DeCarlo Sandwich and a Patty Melt. Both were thoroughly enjoyed! Our server, Danielle, was very kind and gave us some good suggestions on what to eat. So, off I went. My hotel stay also added a 10% discount, so that helped. I was greeted and seated fairly quickly after walking in the door. The server, Sophia, was absolutely a gem! Throughout my meal, I was checked on at perfect intervals. I love the ambiance of this place. Lots of wood, exposed brick, high exposed ceilings. It's a rustic-industrial warehouse feel...yet also with a warm neighborhood feel. Gotta love it. Tonight I opted for the jalapeño popper burger. The burger was smaller than I expected, and they charged me $3 for bacon. Come on. The jalapeño popper cream cheese was a little too heavy, which made the burger a complete mess. It was good, don't get me wrong, it was just a mess. The fries, although happy with the serving size...were not as crispy as I'd like. They also had a less than fresh / possibly reheated taste and feel to them. I also opted for the s'mores cheesecake, which I would not recommend. The toppings made it hard to cut without the cheesecake busting out the sides...and the crust was too thick and hard. I ended up taking off the top layer and eating just the cheesecake off the crust. Overall: unsure the size of that burger justifies that price point, but the place itself has a great vibe.

They had a special for a smash burger and fries for $10 bucks that looked good but what caught my eye was the beef sandwiches. I ended up ordering the Blue Cheese Beef which consisted of shredded beef topped with melted blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes. One of my friends ordered the smash burger deal and my wife ordered the Cheesy Spinach flatbreads. We were also there early enough for the happy hour drink specials and ordered some draft beer. Our first drinks came pretty quickly and the food wasn't too far behind. My beef sandwich came with an au jus sauce and a side of tater tots. This sandwich was amazing and I will probably order it again the next time we are there. The beef was tender and flavorful and the blue cheese with bacon stepped up the flavors. My wife really enjoyed her flatbread as it had the perfect amount of cheese and crispy crust. My friend liked her smash burger as well which looked like a generous size for the special. The only thing that could have been improved is for our waitress to check on us more frequently. Our drinks had run dry and we were almost done eating before she came back. Besides that, the food was great and I recommend you to stop in here for one of their daily specials or get yourself a beef sandwich.
