Stopped into Doc Watson's for a casual lunch. The inside was large with plenty of seating to accommodate a busy night. Today they were offering a Bloody Mary Bar where one picks their preferred vodka and can go up to add whatever mix and topping you want. Their menu has a variety of sandwiches, burgers, salads, hotdogs, and pizza. They have monthly beer specials so my friends ordered a Pacifico for $3.75 and Miller High Life for $1.75. I got a John Daly cocktail which was just under $5. Steal! For food, I got the Brent's Best Burger in the junior size. The regular fries were not my favorite but I loved the burger flavor. Our group also got the DeCarlo Sandwich and a Patty Melt. Both were thoroughly enjoyed! Our server, Danielle, was very kind and gave us some good suggestions on what to eat. She was very patient with me while exploring the menu. Overall, this was a great experience where items were loved or just ok. Great beer (35 unique, but not recondite, drafts). Great atmosphere (you'd never guess this place was in a strip mall). Great service (you don't have to be a regular to get props). Doc's has been my wife's go-to for their Eggplant parm, and I usually get their Cuban or Philly. It was our first takeout meal after Covid, and we've been ordering from there once a month or so since. Always yummy, and they do not skimp on portion size! Awesome!! read more

I can't rave about this place enough! This is a classic dive gem in South Toledo that serves amazing food and drinks! The service is always great and friendly! Really bummed at my take out order from last night. Food was not what I remembered it being when I have eaten here before. Ordered 2 of the Blue Ribbon burgers and my fav appetizer - the hot cold dip. Dip was not consistent with past recipes. Did not have the same heat or seasoning, and tasted BLAH on top of feeling like it was more runny? too much cottage cheese? Burgers were also not seasoned well, & we could not taste ANY blue cheese...just cream cheese. On top of that, I thought they used nice big brioche buns, but these were perched atop stale, small buns that were 1/2 the size of the burger. I had to cut my burger in half to be able to eat it with the bun. No onion, tomato, lettuce...just the pickle spear I was specifically asked about when I gave the order. I am not usually one to complain (especially about local places), as I get it that it is hard to find and keep help in the restaurant business, and this affects consistency. As much as I love the wide variety of the menu at Doc's, I wonder if they would be better off downsizing to reduce stress on the kitchen, and help promote greater consistency? read more

My neighborhood spot when Im home. Been thru many changes since i started going in grad school. The staffing the situation has finally settled. 90% of the staff is on point. Theres always a few that are not too good but for the most part good service. So I finally figured out something to eat here which is a grilled cheese sandwich. A different take on it by adding cream cheese to it. I'm lactose intolerant so I can't eat it very often but when I do I always enjoy it and I will say is the best in the Toledo area. A good 50 drafts which are about $2-3 more than other spots but good craft beer. Mixed drink prices are on average or below which makes me wonder about the beer Prices. Ordered breakfast carryout. Glad I didn't eat there. The shopping cart full of trash in front of the door should have been my sign. There were homeless people sleeping at the bar. The rest of the customers were directly from The Classic. This is now a bar you would find at Junction and Detroit. At the time of my visit, Doc's was not a safe establishment. Best burgers we have had in a long time! I had the Blue Ribbon-a burger stuffed with Bleu & Cream cheese. Steve had the Pig with bacon and he loved it. Frys were medium thick and delicious. This review is based on my Saturday morning visits, not the crowded weekend nights. Granted, I've been there a couple times at nights with coworkers, but I don't remember much of those nights to call for a solid review. By now, DOC's is the go-to spot for my 7:30am EPL fix. Is it because they're one of the only places around town that's even open that early to see a game? Maybe. But since the first time I set my foot in the place and had their surprisingly great breakfast, I've been a fan. The place gets decently busy early in the morning, too. Now, a coworker of mine who grew up in town and has had many visits to DOC's tells me it could be a poop-show at nights here, but maybe I'll save that review for a future night-out. Apparently there are other outlets in town to gather among fans and watch games. In fact, I'm waiting for the summer tot get the rest of my family out to L.A. so I can make a weekend out at Full-90. But until then, $3.99 breakfast special with unlimited coffee at DOC's is perfect for my every-so-often Saturday morning games. Go Spurs & Gunners! read more

Great local sports bar/restaurant. There really isn't anything on the menu you wouldn't want. It's a HUGE menu. Get ready to do some reading and being confused as what you would want to order. The food is delicious and would love to go back and try other items in the menu. Which we probably will. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great and on top of her game. This place is a solid choice for weekend brunch in Toledo. I'm not normally a day drinker, but I really enjoyed my aggressively seasoned bloody mary, and my wife claimed her mimosa was real good. Taco meat on a sausage burger? Why not throw some chorizo and pulled pork on as well? Well you can at Doc Watson's! They offer the option to basically add anything to anything and I love the concept. I tried "the morgan" omelette because the combo of ingredients sounded great. Green olives, cream cheese and bacon? Count me in! It was good. My lady tried the nachos with beans instead of meat and they were quite nice. Also nice? The biscuits and gravy we sampled and shared. Very peppery with some delightfully buttery and toasted biscuits. Gourmet this is not. But for bar food, it's pretty fantastic. Decided to give Doc's another crack and they came good. I've had a change of mind about this place - for now. This time 'round I had their king cut prime rib, and it was cooked to perfection - absolutely delicious. It came with a serving of fresh green beans - at least they had the texture and taste of fresh ones. They were served in a garlic/wine sauce. A nice baked potato and a spinach salad were included with the entree, all for a bit less than $20. For pub food, this is a hard act to follow. One thing I can say for certain about Doc's is they lack consistency - I've been here a few times and I've been really disappointed. This time I really felt like I got what I paid for. read more

Stopped in here on July 4th. Was so happy they were open for one, we were not in a hurry as with eating out anymore. Sat at the bar and met Nicole our bartender. She was extremely busy and short staffed but super nice and friendly. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak and a 911 hot dog. Food exceeded our expectations! The bread was so salty fr and fresh on the Philly and the hot dog was deep fried deliciousness! We appreciated the food and service today. Thank you Nicole and the rest of the staff!
