Sunday morning visit
Erin E.

I am so happy we came out this morning. We've avoided indoor scenarios due to covid. The last time we were in the tap room was tiny, so I think we were even more concerned about our ability to safely drink and distance. I will say we've picked up growlers a few times and have NEVER been disappointed. I guess when I popped in I failed to see all the additional space!!! They opened up a wall and now there is triple the space.

Stopped in to try their beers. Met a nice couple that had a Rottweiler and had a great time hanging out chatting. The staff was friendly and they are pet friendly. No food here but they have food trucks often. The three different beers I tried were very good. I recommend this place for a good beer and to hang out.

What a great spot!! I love that Toledo has so many awesome breweries! Toledo is about two hours from us but close enough for a quick day trip. And there are so many great places to choose from. If you love brewery hopping then you need to come and spend the night in Toledo. Most of these breweries participate in Tagabrew which is also a brilliant way to get customers in! We would not have known this place had it not been on the tagabrew trail. We ended up also getting special tags to support the owner's wife who has cancer. We didn't eat while we were here but the beer was delicious and the food looked great! I got my ring tacker too which made me happy. :) Definitely come and check out Patrol Saints and all of the other great breweries in the area!

St john. Best they have

Wonderful. I'm here to support breweries at all times. So why the 3 stars? I don't care much for their beer. I've tasted 10 in all and the St John and the double IPA that is not on all the time are the only ones I will drink again. And the the St John is the only one I gave 4 stars on untapped. Now let me tell you. Especially in these times of social distancing they are doing their best. Service is awesome. Weird for those of us who are used to going up to the bar to have to be seated to get a beer. Great job explaining but this location is so small that the couple 6 ft away then I sat on the other bar stool and then the 2 tables 6 feet away. All that's left is outdoor seating which is small area. Made me feel rushed to finish my beer as I had really came for food truck food but wanted to show them some appreciation too? I felt awkward in this small setting and finished my 1 beer and left to give folks a place to sit. Not saying I wouldn't go back but... It would probably depend on what food truck is outside.

It's easy to miss.

Like I've said in other reviews, Northwest Ohio's local microbrew scene is booming, and Patron Saints Brewery is an excellent example of why. BEER: The beer is always very good, and frequently, it's great. There's usually about 12 to 14 beers on tap at any given time, and many styles are represented. I honestly can't think of a single brew that I didn't like...well, that's not true...PSB attempted some gluten free concoction that didn't hit the mark, but hey, nobody's perfect. Personal fav? St. Elizabeth pale wheat. It's a light, refreshing (better in the summer) American wheat beer that is ultra refreshing. 5.5 % EtOH means you can drink all day, and still do the do all night. There's usually more than one IPA on tap...and there's stouts...and there's nitro stouts...and there's farmhouse ales...and there's apple ales...and there's etc, etc, etc, etc. There's plenty of season variety, too. LOCATION: For me, the location is fantastic; it's located just west of Ottawa Hills, on Bancroft. It's right across the street from Middle Eastern Mart. ATMOSPHERE: Nice and laid back. The tap room is small...there's maybe 20 places to sit, and it does get crowded. It's clean and the staff is friendly. THEME: Think local...whether you're religious or not, if you're from Toledo you know that Catholicism and Toledo are tightly intertwined. The names of the beers pay tribute to some of Toledo's schools (St. Francis, St. John, St. Ursula), churches (St.Hedwig), hospitals (St. Luke's, St. Anne's), and holidays (St. Nick). FOOD: If there isn't a food truck in the parking lot, PizzaCat will be in da house! HOLLA! There is one problem, however...unlike the Stubborn Brother down the street, Patron Saints Brewery doesn't have Gennessee (sic) Cream Ale on draft, nor do they have regular Coors, nor do they even have box wine. If you're into this stuff, PSB place might not your, um, how does that go...spirit animal for adult beverages? Patron Saints Brewery is a fantastic addition Toledo's craft beer scene, and I hope they stay around for a long time. If you love Toledo, or if you support small business, stop in and drink some great local beer. Five stars!

The new space looks great!!

They had a small but very tasty sounding menu so we will have to come back and try the food. I wish there were more TVs to be able to watch the game.

Now back to our previous review... I love everything about the HEAVY Beer Company...except the beer. The location:  It's in the basement of Toledo Spirits...walk in the front door, immediately turn left, and go down a short flight of stairs).  There's plenty of parking in the private lot.  Is Heavy Beer Company a completely different business from Bellwether/TS?  I'm pretty sure the same guys own everything in this building.  Can you get food or cocktails from upstairs while you're in the basement drinking beer?  I don't know, and I don't really give a shit.  Can you get Heavy beer while youre upstairs at the Bellwether?  Maybe, maybe not.  Just think of it as a different place. The atmosphere is fantastic.  Very comfortable.  It's upscale and clean, but not sterile.   Food:  The only thing on the menu is the Toledo Hot Beef Sandwich.  What is a Toledo Hot Beef Sandwich?  Don't think Red Wells, think Chicago Italian Hot Beef.  I really liked it.  10 bucks might seem a little expensive, but I felt very satisfied after eating it, knocking off a bag of chips, and draining a pint Volcana (tart melon gose).   The optional au jus adds a nice salty flavor to the meat and roll.  Speaking of meat and bread, the ratio of meat to bun is excellent.  Too much bread spoils an otherwise good sandwich; that's not the case with Heavy's THBS.   Add the pickled veggies to the sandwich to get a little more kick.  It could be, in my opinion, a little spicier. BEER:  I've tried everything they have, and so far, the beer has been very average, even a little disappointing, especially when compared to some of T-Town's other local breweries.  I will say that batch 24 and batch 26 of Heavy's IPA tasted MUCH better than the first few batches that I tried.  Hopefully, the BEER (at Heavy BEER company) will continue to improve; I suspect that it will. We're going with 4 stars for now, but if Toledo Spirits and the Bellwether are any indication as to what these guys can do, we'll probably be adding a 5th star soon enough.

HEAVY Beer Company - Arcade1up's new Atari pub machine. Plays 8 games, not just pong.

The weather was quite nice Sunday afternoon, so we decided to go and check things out. We ordered a flight of crafted brews: Blimey; Big Fat Boss Baby Mocha; and two Student Body Right and our food choices (limited menu for the soft opening). Because it was so nice out, we decided to occupy one of the tables in the "courtyard" area near the IT5 Food Truck. It did take long and I received a text message indicating our food was ready. We had a Mushroom Swiss Smash Burger w Fries and Chicken Tenders w Cole Slaw. Both food items were very good. The chicken tenders were tender and juicy. The smash burger was done to our liking. Fries were made while we waited. We had been to the Fieldhouse a couple times, but we did not know there was a fire ring set up "in the back 40". Nice touch. Maybe IT5 will utilize some of the additional space out back for more than one food truck? Time will tell...

If it had been there when I was in college we would have been here. Great space inside with an upstairs that seems to get rented out for private parties but no worries because they have an awesome outside patio with cornhole etc outside. Food trucks good selection of beers galore. Along with quick friendly service. I get a wave from most of the bartenders because I been here a time or two. ;). Did I mention they do a lil farmers market thing from 11-3 on Sundays on the patio? I love new places. Eat your heart Earnest Brewery. There's a new sheriff on the south side.
