I had not been in fifteen years but was visiting town and wanted to revisit my childhood. This was on a relatively cool day in April so no crowd. The soft serve is fairly average but the experience is elevated by the pricing - I got a sundae, cone, and two bottles of water for $9. This is unfathomable to me in 2026, particularly with the size of a small cone for $2.60. It just feels like a throwback. Friendly teenagers working collecting tips for college, cash only (I'm sure bad for many but nostalgic for me), the hand drawn signs. I just really enjoyed it. As I did back when I was in high school 25 years ago. read more

Mr Freeze - Small soft serve cone. $2.60 - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

My first time stopping at Mr Freeze this year which is my Achilles heel for soft serve ice cream. A very popular location in the area for soft serve. Portions and size wise are very fare for the money.service is usually fast once you get to the window. Servers are always young lady's going to college and are very friendly. There's not a bad item on the menu which at one time or the other I have tried. My opinion the best place to have soft serve ice cream and many just hang out in the parking lot. read more

This place has 10000 great sundae options with great combination and a huge variety to choose from. The soft serve is very good. The portions are large. The staff are always very friendly. I have two main issues. Firstly, they are cash only. In this day and age, how are you cash only? They do have ian on site ATM, how convenient... For them. I'm sure they get a nice cut of the service fee. My second and largest issue, is the amount of topping- or rather the lack of. The ice cream to topping ratio is way off! If they don't want to put on a lot of toppings, maybe they should just adjust the size of the ice cream sundaes themselves. There are a lot of great ice cream shops in the greater Toledo area. I just don't think they can compete with my top favorite. I need generous topping, electronic payment option, and slightly faster service time. read more

A Toledo classic! I've been going since I was a kid. The ice cream is very good but not exceptional. Maybe 4 stars for ice cream of this style (soft serve), and it doesn't really compare to ice cream like Jeni's or Handel's, it's a different category. The lines can be long, and they're cash only. But once you get to the front of the line, the service is always friendly. But the art is amazing. All the hand-drawn pictures to go with the sundaes and the creative sundae names and toppings/mix-ins. Some of the sundaes are the same ones they served 30 years ago, others are new. The portions are huge. If I recall correctly, for a large cone they take it all the way down to the bottom of the machine (although I've never ordered one myself!) The cake sundaes are quart size. I usually go with a small or junior sundae and it's plenty. It's my go-to stop on the way home from Centennial Quarry in the summer, and one of the places that I take friends from out of town to give them a taste of Toledo culture. I hope they keep going for many more decades! read more

Love this place. Good prices, huge servings. Only thing missing is more seating, only has the 1 picnic table.

Love that they offer diary free, VEGAN soft serve!!! It's almond base vanilla - absolutely amazing!!

Great soft serve ice cream at very reasonable prices. It's usually crowded for a very good reason

The almond soft serve is delicious! The ice cream is addictive. 20 min drive from my house and so worth it. read more

Mr Freeze - Vegan ice cream blast, almond milk ice cream - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

Same delicious frozen treats as the other one without the long lines. They actually have an on site ATM which can be very convenient. Friendly fast service they never seem bothered by special orders; be sure to tip their college funds. read more

Mr. Freeze is SUPER POPULAR. I haven't been since I was a kid so I came back recently. CASH ONLY, fyi. No lines really when I went so service was very fast - yay. Got a buckeye sundae for $4.25 and it was...ok? I didn't eat much of it, honestly. Vanilla ice cream with whipped cream on top and buckeye candies with just a small amount of peanut butter (and I didn't care for the flavor that much) and barely any hot fudge. Blah. I prefer The Honey Bear in Swanton for their Buckeye Sundae because they don't skimp with their toppings and flavors are better. I also didn't really care for the flavor of the ice cream. I was very underwhelmed. read more

Large portions, great pricing! Friendly service ! Delicious Newberry yogurt flavors (doesn't taste like frozen yogurt)

This has the best fat/sugarfree icecream. Best tasting. Peanut butter and german choclate cake are the best. Also the best crew working there. We go 4 to 6 times a month. read more

LACTOSE INTOLERANT PPL UNITE!! I forgot my lactaid pill. That was my biggest mistake. I was a little hesitant to try Mr.Freeze because of it. I asked a very nice lady at the counter to see if there is any lactose-free option available. She immediately pointed to almond milk vanilla ice cream, and I was still hesitant because American Vanilla ice cream usually has a very strong flavor for me. I thought I should still give it a try because I went literally two days before this place closed for the season. And it was DELICIOUS. Enough vanilla flavor was coming through while minimal almond milk was present. The perrrfect balance!! I was very impressed by the taste and I was sad that i didnt bring my lactaid pill to try other flavors. The price was the cheapest I've seen in a ice cream place in a while. I am definitely looking forward to the spring next year for its reopening. I gave 4 stars to reserve for next season to officially make up my mind. But so far, it is the best ice cream in town. read more

BEST ICE CREAM PLACE EVER! Their selections are unique and crazy, but so delicious that I could've sworn the flavors and toppings descended from Heaven. Yet, it you opt for a simpler ice cream selection, Mr.Freeze has that, too. One of my favorite simple ice cream orders here is the orange twist. I attached a photo below. Additionally, they have fun seasonal selections for adventurous people. I once bought a Leprechaun ice cream "assortment" and was not disappointed. I call it an "assortment" because of their abundance of toppings, syrups, and options galore. Anything you'd need for your ice cream they have. I love this place and would suggest it to anyone. read more

A special thank you to the person who turn in my wallet and the honest staff at Mister Freeze who held onto it until we arrived to recover it. Love this place! We come here all the time in the summer. It can't be beat! We love the Buckeye Sundae. It includes both peanut butter and chocolate sauces with buckeye candies (almost like peanut butter cups) and it is topped off with whipped cream. So yummy! They definitely know how to make sundaes well too since they are full of toppings from the bottom to the top of the sundae. There is also the option of making your own sundaes or flurry style creations as well. Also love White Mountain, Topsy Turvy, Banana Cream Blast, and Nutter Butter. There are so many options and I still haven't tried all the different flavors. There are also some seasonal specialties too (like pumpkin pie)! And don't forget, you can always get a sundae for your pet as well! You definitely have to check this place out when you are in Toledo! Pros: - cheap sundaes that are great for the family - huge portion sizes (always great to bring home), but they do have smaller sizes now (baby and kiddie sizes) ! - tons of toppings! Cons: - line can be HUGE in the summer (hour long waits) - everything is in styrofoam cups (not the best for the environment) - Closed for the winter (Closes October 1, 2017) Why I gave it a 5... Best ice cream sundaes in Toledo! Great distribution of ice cream toppings throughout the sundae (it's not just on the top). If you like peanut butter and chocolate, you definitely have to try the Buckeye Sundae! The sundaes are all great! Gotta Try Them All!!! read more

Mr Freeze - White Mtn. Sunday! Delicious. Worth taking a detour off of I75. - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

Mr. Freeze is a northwest Ohio staple and an absolute MUST stop if you're in town (or a local). Openly seasonally, Mr. Freeze serves the BEST sundaes and ice cream. Nothing in this world compares to a Mr. Freeze Turtle Sundae. Rich, creamy vanilla soft serve with warm, gooey caramel and fudge, topped with salty, crunchy pecans and whipped cream. It truly is my favorite ice cream sundae in the whole world. There's always a line, but be patient - your patience will be rewarded! Service is friendly and as fast as can be given the crowds and precision in making the perfect product. Mr. Freeze, I hope you are around for years and years to come - because I honestly couldn't picture a world without your sweet goodness. read more

Every time I am back in town I stop by for some wow Cow. Wow cow is only 10-12 cals per ounce and can be subbed into any sundae. Portions are huge and the price is very good. My favorite sundae by far is the buckeye sundae. Be prepared for long lines almost all the time. read more

This place is truly amazing, and worth every star it's got! I first discovered Mr. Freeze last summer, when I moved to Toledo. It is awful for my waistline, but that didn't stop me from going at least once or twice a week. As others have already commented, the portions are enormous and the regular size of some of the sundaes are served in quart containers!! Seriously, the quantity is ridiculous. The only thing more surprising than the quantity of ice cream and topping they give you are the unusually low prices. You really have to go there to believe the reviews, but it's as good as everyone says. When you do go (and you're crazy if you don't), do expect lines. But, there's a reason people are waiting in the lines. Before choosing a line, take a minute to see which ones are moving and which are not...all ice cream lines are definitely not created equal. When you get to the front of the line, be sure you've got cash ready, because they don't take credit. Really, the lack of a credit card machine (which I personally find to be unacceptable these days), is my only gripe about the place. Please start taking credit, guys!! Get yourself a free Square dongle and use that! I'll even give you mine... read more

Mr Freeze - The new puppy chow sundae! Yes, please!! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

My husband and I were there about a month ago. We have been there many times before!! Never called the place top notch, but ok. I ordered a small size strawberry milkshake and ask them to put real strawberries in it which they did. My husband ordered a medium size blizzard or whatever they call it!!! The strawberries were sour and the ice cream was not good!!! My husband ask them why his cup was the same size as mine as we ordered different sizes!!!! They said because it was a different menu item!!!! WHAT???We were NOT happy!! We will NOT GO BACK!!! read more

Best ice cream shop ever! You can't find a place with better ice cream for its value (SO CHEAP!). They have tons of sundae options with cute names and pictures (my favorite is the Buckeye), but actually I always come here for the delicious soft serve ice cream. They have flavors such as chocolate, vanilla, orange, blackberry, and I think a rotating seasonal one. The soft serve servings are HUGE - the "baby" size is probably a large at most places (see the "small" pictured below - $1.45). Service is always great as well! FYI: It IS cash only, and the lines start to get pretty long around 9-10pm, but it's definitely worth the wait! read more

Visiting Toledo my first time and this would be the only thing I say a "must try" in Toledo! Their ice cream is so good, and super cheap. Huge portion! So if you can't eat much like me, just stick with the "baby cone" (which is double the size of the Mc Donald's cone. It's only $1!!!! My boyfriend and I shared a baby cone and it was perfect for us. My friends order pint and quart size. Their brownie is so good!!!! My favorite flavor: sea salt caramel and raspberry. The raspberry is pretty refreshing and has a touch of sourness so it balance out the sweet and fattening taste. read more

Mr Freeze is one of my favorite summer ice cream places - they are always busy and have a great selection of ice cream and sundaes - the buckeye sundae is my favorite- but I wish they took credit cards instead of only cash - it would be more convenient read more

If you're not a local, remember that it's cash only! The employees are usually quick and very friendly. It's a lot of high school and college students. It's the perfect treat on a hot day, and the serving sizes are huge...like seriously ginormous. I always go when I'm visiting home! The sundae sizes are way too big for me, so I ask for what's essentially a mini version of the mud sundae - a baby/junior vanilla or twist in a cup with fudge and crushed oreos - yum!! All the soft serve is really good, but they have tons of options, so everyone will find something they like! read more

I save five stars for. . .well, for Mr. Freeze! The softserve is perfect: creamy and just the right texture. The portions. . .well, to say that they are "generous" is an understatement. The "baby" size is a medium most places. I hardly ever get anything but a "medium vanilla cone". . .it's 10 inches tall (counting the cone)! My companions often get a sundae. They have a wide variety, they're all good. They're all big. There's a low (or no?) fat "wow cow" that's almost as good as the regular softserve. The lines are sometimes long. . .but more than worth it. There is a reason so many people are willing to wait. This is one of the few places I would give six stars. I know, it's just a softserve joint--but a Toledo institution. read more

This place is amazing!! They have at least 15+ creative sundaes on the menu at all times and at all times they are so well priced (read - cheap!!) very likely because it is cash only. The servings are huge and the prices are low! They have tons of options/different combinations of ice cream and toppings. The ice cream is very creamy. I've loved everything I've tried so far! I love ice cream and there's nothing better than a soft serve ice cream stand when it opens for the summer months! I love the Buckeye sundaes and that is what I usually get although everything I have tried is delicious. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that I've now had 3 orders done incorrectly...with the most recent being this past Sunday (4.1.18). This time the young lady forgot to add the Buckeyes in the middle (which was no big deal) but she had added crushed peanuts instead and the biggest problem was she didn't tell me about the peanuts. She did give me a container of Buckeye candies. I do not eat nuts/peanuts in food...in fact, I rarely like anything added to my ice cream. The exceptions are cookies, the Buckeyes...things that are large. Crushed nuts are just annoying. Needless to say, after a couple of spoonfuls, it went in the trash. The next night while out walking my dog I looked over and saw it was not busy and thought, "what the hecks"...I really was looking forward to that ice cream and this was our first visit of the season. The young lady at the window (Riley) was very friendly and apologetic. She got her manager(?) named Laura(sp). She offered to make me another which I gladly accepted. The service is always top notch, the area is always clean (both inside and outside) and above all the ice cream is a "looked forward to weekly treat". Thank you for being so close...it's literally a 2 minute walk across the grass. read more

Such a cute, old school ice cream shack tucked in a pretty random, residential area. I was excited the second we pulled into the parking lot on a drizzly summer evening to see the swarm of people still lined up here. Super friendly, primarily high school/college-aged staff. Gargantuan portions. Super great prices. Ridiculous selection. The finished product itself, we got a fruity sundae called the topsy turvy(?), was amazeballs. Will be back over and over and over until they close for the season. read more

It's ok. Lines are extremely long, and ice cream is nothing special. Even their shakes and freezes are ok. All store bough, not homemade.
