Stopped in here for a quick drink while we were in the area. The atmosphere is really neat here. We were served quickly since we pretty much had the place to ourselves for a bit. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable! Had a flight of their beers. To be fair, I wasn't impressed with the IPA's or the Bohemian Pilsner, but the Rosé was pretty good! Trying flights is always a gamble because one beer might influence the flavor of the next. Needless to say, I like this place enough to give it another shot next time we are through. Oh, and this place is dog friendly, so bring your pooch!

Draft beer taps and labels.

Nice and cozy craft brewery with a simple menu for those who like bar food. Friendly and fast service. We chose beer flights to enjoy the live music on a Friday evening sitting inside instead of the patio. Good for groups up to 6, possibly 8 patrons. Safe downtown neighborhood street parking.

Stopped by on my way home to Detroit from Toledo and got a flight. The owner was super nice and does all the artwork for their labels/promo materials! Absolutely stop by and support the taproom, it's a nice space and the beer is great. Seems like they have events and I just happened in on a slow night.

I had a reuben sandwich which was by far the best I have ever had. Large pieces of meat, plenty of Kraut and more than filled me up. My wife had the chili which was also very good. I had a flight of beers that Tyler recommended and they were all fantastic. If you are anywhere near the area, you should stop in. I don't think you will be disappointed.

The inside had display after display of breweriana. If you like old beer collections especially vintage stuff you'll enjoy strolling around the building. The staff was nice, the seating downstairs was pretty cool. I was getting some castle vibes in the room (wood beams, big windows, stonework). Menu wise we ordered a light dinner after a long day on the road. My son had PB&J and said it was just ok. The house made Root Beer smelled great, but was flat. The wood-fired Hot Honey Pepperoni pizza I shared was just ok. It was sloppy (cheese sliding off) and needed to have crispy pepperoni to execute that style. I had two brews that weren't anything special. The Glass Hopper IPA had an earthy and herbal aroma and taste as advertised, but it was too soft on the hops and had more of a malt flavor throughout. It was a one and done. The Italian Pilsner had more of a grassy/floral flavor, but lacked a crackery pilsner malt and a citrus/orchard fruit that I'm used to in a good solid Italian pils. More of less glorified homebrew. Everyone working there seemed nice and friendly, but were not personable. It was all business, which is ok, but we felt like unexpected guests. It took them forever just to decide what area they were going to seat us in and then it was like here first boring table in the entire place. The rest of our party pretty much felt the same. If it wasn't for the ambiance and history of the building I would have suggested something in the downtown area. NOTE: The steakhouse located in the same building on the other side looked pretty cool. If you're in the downtown just look for a different location and save the 10-15 minute walk.

Like I've said in other reviews, Northwest Ohio's local microbrew scene is booming, and Patron…read moreSaints Brewery is an excellent example of why. BEER: The beer is always very good, and frequently, it's great. There's usually about 12 to 14 beers on tap at any given time, and many styles are represented. I honestly can't think of a single brew that I didn't like...well, that's not true...PSB attempted some gluten free concoction that didn't hit the mark, but hey, nobody's perfect. Personal fav? St. Elizabeth pale wheat. It's a light, refreshing (better in the summer) American wheat beer that is ultra refreshing. 5.5 % EtOH means you can drink all day, and still do the do all night. There's usually more than one IPA on tap...and there's stouts...and there's nitro stouts...and there's farmhouse ales...and there's apple ales...and there's etc, etc, etc, etc. There's plenty of season variety, too. LOCATION: For me, the location is fantastic; it's located just west of Ottawa Hills, on Bancroft. It's right across the street from Middle Eastern Mart. ATMOSPHERE: Nice and laid back. The tap room is small...there's maybe 20 places to sit, and it does get crowded. It's clean and the staff is friendly. THEME: Think local...whether you're religious or not, if you're from Toledo you know that Catholicism and Toledo are tightly intertwined. The names of the beers pay tribute to some of Toledo's schools (St. Francis, St. John, St. Ursula), churches (St.Hedwig), hospitals (St. Luke's, St. Anne's), and holidays (St. Nick). FOOD: If there isn't a food truck in the parking lot, PizzaCat will be in da house! HOLLA! There is one problem, however...unlike the Stubborn Brother down the street, Patron Saints Brewery doesn't have Gennessee (sic) Cream Ale on draft, nor do they have regular Coors, nor do they even have box wine. If you're into this stuff, PSB place might not your, um, how does that go...spirit animal for adult beverages? Patron Saints Brewery is a fantastic addition Toledo's craft beer scene, and I hope they stay around for a long time. If you love Toledo, or if you support small business, stop in and drink some great local beer. Five stars!

Interesting theme based brewery relating to patron saints as the name suggests. I ordered the St…read more Jude which is a sweet potato stout with cinnamon and vanilla. Not sure I would like it but surprisingly the taste grew on me. This brewery has a good selection of seltzers, IPA's and stouts among others to choose from. No food here but they do have popcorn which is free and popped in a movie style popper. There are food trucks here on a regular basis it appears so you can pop out for a burger or whatever, a Lebanese truck was here during our visit. Quiet atmosphere so I would recommend if you like an atmosphere conducive to talking. Interesting place that may appeal to your inner spirit in many ways.

For pure variety, EBW is tops in town. There's at least 18 beers available at any given time (assuming that nothing has sold out yet). Probably, their flagship brew is the "Crunchy Hippie Granola Brown Ale." Not my fav, but it is popular around The Glass City. There's usually 4 or 5 IPAs on tap at any given time. How are they? I'm an IPA rookie...you'd have to ask Summer D, next time she's home. Depending upon the temperature, you can find me drinking (almost any friggin' beer, but I really like) wheat beers and stouts/porters. Right now, EBW is offering Scotch Barrel Aged Orion the Hunter Black Imperial Wheat...awesome at 11.2 v/v EtOH! Talk about the best of both worlds! Food? How about popcorn? BUT, food trucks and Pizza Cat are often available. Then again, you didn't come here to eat, did you? Now back to our previous review... I love everything about the HEAVY Beer Company...except the beer. The location:  It's in the basement of Toledo Spirits...walk in the front door, immediately turn left, and go down a short flight of stairs).  There's plenty of parking in the private lot.  Is Heavy Beer Company a completely different business from Bellwether/TS?  I'm pretty sure the same guys own everything in this building.  Can you get food or cocktails from upstairs while you're in the basement drinking beer?  I don't know, and I don't really give a shit.  Can you get Heavy beer while youre upstairs at the Bellwether?  Maybe, maybe not.  Just think of it as a different place. The atmosphere is fantastic.  Very comfortable.  It's upscale and clean, but not sterile.   Food:  The only thing on the menu is the Toledo Hot Beef Sandwich.  What is a Toledo Hot Beef Sandwich?  Don't think Red Wells, think Chicago Italian Hot Beef.  I really liked it.  10 bucks might seem a little expensive, but I felt very satisfied after eating it, knocking off a bag of chips, and draining a pint Volcana (tart melon gose).   The optional au jus adds a nice salty flavor to the meat and roll.  Speaking of meat and bread, the ratio of meat to bun is excellent.  Too much bread spoils an otherwise good sandwich; that's not the case with Heavy's THBS.   Add the pickled veggies to the sandwich to get a little more kick.  It could be, in my opinion, a little spicier. BEER:  I've tried everything they have, and so far, the beer has been very average, even a little disappointing, especially when compared to some of T-Town's other local breweries.  I will say that batch 24 and batch 26 of Heavy's IPA tasted MUCH better than the first few batches that I tried.  Hopefully, the BEER (at Heavy BEER company) will continue to improve; I suspect that it will. We're going with 4 stars for now, but if Toledo Spirits and the Bellwether are any indication as to what these guys can do, we'll probably be adding a 5th star soon enough.

The weather was quite nice Sunday afternoon, so we decided to go and check things out. We ordered a flight of crafted brews: Blimey; Big Fat Boss Baby Mocha; and two Student Body Right and our food choices (limited menu for the soft opening). Because it was so nice out, we decided to occupy one of the tables in the "courtyard" area near the IT5 Food Truck. It did take long and I received a text message indicating our food was ready. We had a Mushroom Swiss Smash Burger w Fries and Chicken Tenders w Cole Slaw. Both food items were very good. The chicken tenders were tender and juicy. The smash burger was done to our liking. Fries were made while we waited. We had been to the Fieldhouse a couple times, but we did not know there was a fire ring set up "in the back 40". Nice touch. Maybe IT5 will utilize some of the additional space out back for more than one food truck? Time will tell...
