Gyro with taztziki. Might not look like much, but it tastes like heaven!

I just found out that J&G Pizza Palace makes its own gyro meat in house! (By the way, I do realize that the phrase "making meat" sounds a little repugnant.) However, given its one of a kind flavor, I wasn't overly surprised to find this out. "My source" still wouldn't elaborate on which spices are used, however. The lamb/beef/whatever-the-hell-ever-spice combo tastes incredibly delicious, and is, quite honestly, the best I've ever eaten. (I'm not saying that the finished gyro "sandwich" is the best ever, just the meat). I like it in the Greek salad or by itself over rice (gyro platter). If you are a fan of gyros, you really ought to give J&G a try.

My parents first went to J and G's 47 years ago and we grew up eating here (always a family favorite). I moved away and went back to Toledo this weekend for the first time in 10 years. It's amazing that J & Gs has not changed one iota. Same menus. Same wallpaper. Same everything... including the fantastic food. We had the pizza (cut into squares) that has a super thin crust. The gyros here is literally the best I've had in the country. And the spaghetti is also great. Can't say enough about this place but you gotta love a joint that shows this much consistency for 5 decades. It's the opposite of fancy but if you want a taste of Toledo, hit J & Gs for sure!!

Cheese pizza, gyro dinner, Greek salad, Pinot Gris! Yum!

I have been all throughout the United States trying to find pizza and gyros that match the top-notch and consistent quality and flavor that J&G's provides. I've been to many 4 and 5-star restaurants but this tops anything I've ever experienced. I lived in Portland for the last 3 years working in the hospitality and restaurant industry there where food culture and food tourism are central to what the city stands for. Still, I could find nothing better than this small local eatery. Growing up in south Toledo, I would come to this restaurant to celebrate all my birthdays. My mother would tell me of her and friends coming here after a long shifts at work or going there after the bar with her husband. So! You must try the Gyro dinner with their delicious rice. It's so hard hard to find a place that does gyros the traditional way, slicing pieces off on the rotating spindle. Also required is the simple cheese pizza, a lovely, thin crust, not crispy, Greek style. The Greek salad is excellent - an awesome house vinaigrette and huge slice of feta cheese over top.

Pretty good. Gyros, not the best I've ever had. .. but not far off, very good, and made fresh. Pizza... it's fresh and tasty. I wouldn't go as far as others, or call it the best in the area, but it is pretty good.

    Better than Sex Pizza!! Lol

This is a Pizza I won't forget!! I had it delivered across the state line They utilize " Order On The Way " a delivery service phone # 419-883-2889 they were prompt & courteous, expect to pay a bit more. ( + or - $10 ) Back to the ZAA! Thin crust, good amount of tasty cheese, homemade sausage on top, pepperoni under cheese, someone said its a Greek style crust, all I know is that I wanted to lick the cardboard box when it was gone. Just like good sex it leaves you satisfied!!

Very good pizza. Great ambiance. If you have the hankering for some pie, definitely stop in and have a beer to wash it down too.

Wonderful brews from affiliated with a tasty pizza and gyro establishment. The "10 Mike Creek" red ale is my preferred beverage!

Miss the J&G name but other than that this place is a childhood classic. Greek salad with gyro meat and pizza is a treat!

J&G 's is a beloved Sylvania institution and it only adds to the appeal that they are offering excellent craft beer brewed in house.

Ask the Community - Upside Brewing

If you ask them to traditional cut (triangles) your pizza, will they do so for you?

I know I've seen them cut that way, not very often though. I have never personally asked, but I have seen them do it.

We thought it was busy for a Tuesday night in the middle of the Summer, but what do we know as we usually don't go out on Tuesday's... Thanks to continuing to make progress on the 15 cuyd of mulch we had delivered, neither one of us felt much like making dinner as we were a hot, sweaty, drenched mess. As mentioned previously, we scored a couple seats at the bar and Chelsea took care of us. She has a very upbeat, friendly personality and does her best to stop and talk even when the bar is busy (like tonight). We ordered: cobb salad with grilled chicken topped with cumin honey lime vinaigrette; and my surprise meal was the club sandwich. We were both very satisfied as well as satiated after our meals. The only downside I will ever have with Inside The Five - they really cut back on stouts & porters this time of year. I understand the business decision, but I am not in to lighter, foo-foo styles of craft beer. Bring on Student Body Right and Big Fat Boss Baby on a year-round basis and I would be a very happy camper...

I felt the server was sub-par. I wasn't impressed. She was nice but I felt like she had something else going on or something. It wasn't busy so I was kind of surprised she wasn't a little friendlier. Overall though I liked the place and the ambiance. I will say what could make the place even better is having screens for the windows during those sunny hours of the day as our table was in the full sun the whole time which can take away from the experience. Although I like the natural light I don't like being blinded or overheating. Also, the tater tots were delicious but extremely crunchy. Just a heads up to anyone who might be thinking about getting them.

New local favorite unlocked!…read more My husband and I had a quick date night at the newly opened Voodoo Brewing Company in Canton, and we're already planning to go back this week! Tonight we shared the BLT with avocado and their skin-on fries (so good!). I had the Tropical Cherry Mule --absolutely delicious--and David tried the Hazy Vibes IPA. Yesterday he and his buddy sampled the Lacto Kooler Sour, loved it so much they bought a six-pack and a shirt before leaving! A huge shoutout to our bartenders, Sarah and Shana, who made us feel right at home. We also had the pleasure of meeting owner Carla, who is incredibly friendly and a fellow dog lover--always a bonus in my book! The artwork throughout the brewery is stunning, hand-painted by two tattoo artists from Old World Tattoo in Imlay City. The detail is incredible and really gives the place its own unique personality. And that logo? So cool! If you're looking for a great new spot with amazing drinks, tasty food, awesome people, and a fun vibe, definitely check them out. Canton, you've got a winner! We recently hosted a retirement party for my boss here, and from start to finish the experience was outstanding. Wayne and Amy were incredible to work with while planning everything--they helped coordinate the setup, worked with us on catering appetizers, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. They even accommodated us bringing in our own cake, which was a huge plus. They gave us a large dedicated section for our group, and everything ran seamlessly all night. The food and drinks were fantastic across the board--everyone in our party was raving. The pretzel bites with beer cheese were a big hit, and the pulled pork nacho bar for appetizers was next level. People kept going back for more and talking about it all night. But the real standout of the evening was our waitress, Karissa. She was an absolute rockstar. We had a large group with individual tabs for everyone, and she kept everything perfectly organized without missing a beat. Drinks were always full, food came out quickly, and no one was left waiting or confused. Whatever system she was running behind the scenes--it worked flawlessly. It's not easy to keep a big group happy, and she made it look effortless. Whether you're going for a casual dinner or planning a large event, this is a place that knows how to take care of people. Highly recommend.
