We recently moved here from Southern California where Thai restaurants are everywhere.. We drove an hour to get here and the food and service were worth it. Best pad Thai and gang curry we've ever had. The shrimp spring roll and sauce were delicious also. They are busy! Ordered takeout last night as we were working late. Food was ready to go upon arrival, so 2 thumbs up for Service. The aroma was driving me crazy so I felt like pulling over and stuffing my face, but I held off for the 15-minute drive. This is not our first visit to Bangkok Kitchen. My gf works very close to Bangkok, and she loves it when they order food from staff luncheons as most of her co-workers also love the food. We ordered the Seafood Combo with mild heat, a side of sticky rice, and the other meal was the Drunken Noodles. The squid in the Seafood Combo was a bit chewy, but other than that, the dish was wonderful. My gf had the Drunken Noodles (with chicken), and she must have really enjoyed it as she finished in one sitting. Well, she had a little help from me. I had the leftovers of the Seafood Combo and sticky rice today for lunch. Very tasty! As someone else had alluded to in their review, surprisingly good foe a Thai food joint located in a strip mall. The food here is very good but inconsistent. I always order the heat level at mild/medium per their online ordering. Sometimes it's mild sometimes its so hot I can't eat it. I'm not afraid of heat. Indian and Thai are my favorite foods but I like to be able to feel my face. Also, their refusal to open back up for more than carry out is annoying. They package the food well, so well you don't really want to open It before you get home which leaves you super disappointed when you drive the 20 minutes back home to realize the spring rolls you have been dreaming about and paid for are missing. Lots and lots of liquid with little vegetables, eggplant, basil and chicken. Only saving grace was the the amount of rice to soak up the curry to feel like I got anything to eat. The food was great! We felt a little rushed to get our order placed as we arrived at about a half hour from closing time, but ya can't blame them for that! We were pleasantly surprised to find a Thai restaurant located right across the street from the hotel we booked in Maumee as we traveled to New York for Christmas. Due to COVID Bangkok Kitchen was still take away service only when we were there -- but that was OK with us. It took less than five minutes for me to walk across the street to pick up the food (it probably would have taken longer to drive there and back due to the divided roadway and traffic lights). It took a bit longer than promised for the order to be completed -- but eight or nine minutes was close enough for me. We ordered two servings of Pad Thai (each with a different protein) and a papaya salad. The potion sizes were generous enough for us to eat our fill and have some leftovers for lunch on the road the next day. The flavor was pretty good -- though I would have preferred a bit more heat in mine -- so be sure to specify how hot you like it and/or ask for some sriracha on the side to kick it up a notch if necessary. My only disappointment was that when we stayed in the same hotel on our return trip a day or so after Christmas -- the kitchen was closed for their holiday break. Too bad for me -- but good for the hardworking restaurant owners and employees who deserve a few days off for the holidays too. read more

Food was delicious! We've been in the area previously but never found this place before. The dining area is pleasant. You place your order at the front counter, and your meal is brought to you when it's ready. Portions are quite large. Since we were only in town for one night, the two of us split an entree so we wouldn't have leftovers. I wish they had reusable plates and silverware. Wow, are you passing through from Detroit, Ann Arbor? Or maybe driving by from Cincinnati, Cleveland or Skokie?? And while driving by you have a strong craving for Thai food but are unsure because you're in Maumee (pronounced Mommy), Ohio. Well surprisingly, Bangkok Kitchen has great Authentic Thai taste, and we enjoyed our lunch break and everything they cooked for us!! We were skeptical at first because we rolled up at 10:50 am, waiting for them to open at 11:00 a.m. - the lights were off and I tried to call but there was no answer. We were literally driving away to go to Plan B but as I glanced to my right, the light came on so I drove back and the entire staff was there, punctual and ready to wok and woll. We ate in the car and while doing so, there was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up their food - it seemed like 30 people at the very least. As for our food, we loved the chicken wings - so tender and juicy - that exceeded our expectations. The pad woon sen could have used a few more pea pods but it was also very tasty. We'll make sure to stop by here if we're ever heading out East or while coming back home. read more

This is a carry out only restaurant. You can call or come in to order, or order online. All of these options make it easy to request vegan, and the restaurant is knowledgeable about which items are already vegan and how to veganize other items. My favorite is the basil fried rice with tofu and extra veggies. I love the cucumber salad too - takes the edge off the delightful spiciness of the rice! oh gosh, no words are needed to say that this is the HANDS DOWN THE BEST thai food in Toledo. I ordered yellow chicken curry, pad thai, and hawaiian fried rice. None were salty or had any extreme flavor, and their spicy level was accurate to the description. Mild is more on the sweet side, so if you want to taste something spicy, I would recommend ordering medium or higher. The flavor was something I remembered from my favorite thai restaurant in Houston and maybe better. The curry was very creamy, and it reminded me how curry tastes so good with coconut milk. Hawaiian fried rice and pad thai had decent amount of nuts (cashews and peanuts), so if you are allergic to nuts, you might want to avoid these dishes. The amount of food was more than enough. My partner and I finished the food over three separate meals, and none of us thought the flavor was boring. It has become my to-go place now! The order was ready on time for pick up, and the staff were very nice. The only downside is that the place is for to-go only. I would order ahead to pick it up as soon as it comes out or have it delivered so that it doesnt get cold by the time it gets to your dining table. My wife and I, along with our friends over the years have always loved this place. Before the pandemic, we often all went out to spend the evening and eat in. We were thrilled to learn that at long last, they opened their dining-room for eat in. As always, the food was terrific. However, we will not be returning. Bangkok Kitchen is not an eat in restaurant anymore. Food is ordered at the front counter and is served in Styrofoam containers with flimsy plastic utensils. You also must go up and get it yourself. Also, since most people are getting take out, the dining area was dirty and the tables were sticky. For the cost, it is not worth it. We were very disappointed. Consider the massive amount of container waste from Styrofoam and plastic. If you want to spend your money for take out, I guess it is good. But for over $50.00 don't expect the "dine in" experience to be anything more than eating in a dirty fast food dining room. It is sad, as we have so many good memories of taking folks visiting from out of town to a good Thai place. Now, it is simply a take out window. So not worth it. read more

Great Pad Thai here! Ate for lunch with a couple of my co-workers. The inside seating is tight, but it's nice and cozy. You order at the register and grab an open table. Our order took 15 minutes or so. We could have called ahead. I got the mild spice. But I'd go with medium next time for some more heat. Pad Thai was on the heavy side, but very good. My gauge of a legit Thai restaurant is their Tom Yum soup. Tom Yum is essentially like a hot & sour soup but with a clear broth. I ordered the Large and it was a solid bowl of soup, the size of pho! I also added wide flat noodles to make it a full meal. Everything in the tom yum soup tasted really fresh - from the mushrooms to the tomatoes. But, most importantly, the flavors were on point! We also ordered the chicken satay appetizer. No complaints! The restaurant was slammmmeeedd & the service wasn't great. So much flavor! It is a pleasant surprise to find a good Thai restaurant in Toledo. It's my third time going & my go to's are: red curry, pad see ew, and basil chicken/beef. The dishes are packed with flavor and perfect for family style sharing. The sauces are a bit more liquid than what I'm used to, but it doesn't change the flavor. Their spices go from mild, mild medium, medium, hot (& think it goes hotter). I tend to stay closer to mild medium, because they don't hold back with their spice. The food was mostly tasty and spicy and filling, and the service was nice, but I honestly can't recommend it. It's breathtakingly expensive for what you get. Detailed comparison: I will compare it to my favorite hole-in-the-wall chinese place, China Chef Maumee. For lunch, both places offer the entree, rice, and a side of hot&sour soup. The entrees were comparable, both are good. Rice: China Chef gives you fried rice with a small amount of diced veg mixed in, while Bangkok is plain white rice. The side of hot&sour soup Bangkok offers is of visibly lower quality of ingredients and literally half the size of the China Chef tub of soup. The kicker is, Bangkok charges more than twice as much for this pickup order out the door! China Chef: $6.75(no sales tax). Bangkok: $14, including sales tax (?) and a $1.50 convenience fee (!). If the cost were the same, China Chef would still have the edge. But at more than double the cost...can't recommend it. A convenience fee for a pickup order? Nah. Just nah. read more
