We've been here twice now. None of the dishes disappointed. We order off the authentic menu. They even have a "special" authentic menu that is seen only when you enter the restaurant. I think they are Cantonese. They don't skimp on portion sizes. Dishes are flavorful. Authentic menu is indeed AUTHENTIC. We asked 1 - low salt, 2 - low oil, 3 - no MSG and these preferences were honored. They even called back saying one of the dishes was a bit heavy in oil so that we could potentially order something else. They called us when the takeout order was ready. The Midwest needs more restaurants like these. If I lived closer I would come way more often. Best of all you get this for a very fair price point. It is not the inflationary/expensive price for low-quantity sub-par asian food you see now-adays. Come here if you are near the area. Ambiance is average and unassuming, like most great Chinese restaurants!

The chicken egg roll as you can see in the picture was a little burned so it was really tough and I maybe took two bites out of it and called it a day on that one. The orange chicken sauce had a very particular taste to it. It didn't taste like any orange chicken I ever had before. The chicken itself was pretty good but the sauce was just off to me. The white rice that came with the meal was fresh and not overcooked. I think we'll be going back to Golden Lily.

They do not serve alcohol, in case that matters. They do serve complimentary tea though. In ordering entrees, there is a soup included with no additional charge. We ordered two chicken rice soups and a chicken noodle soup. One person wanted the vegetable soup but it wasn't available. My chicken rice soup was predominantly rice with maybe three bits of chicken and little soup. The two others in our party seemed to enjoy their soup. For entrees, one ordered Mu Shu Chicken, another the Sweet & Sour Chicken and I originally ordered Chicken with Asparagus but was later told they didn't have asparagus so I opted for Chicken with Peapods. I have included photos of our entrees below. For two of us, the entrees were barely warm but the Mu Shu Chicken entree was reportedly hot. For some reason, the service was rather slow even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. Our young server tried hard and seemed to be hurrying to each of the few tables. Overall, it seemed that the restaurant had a lot of carryout orders and the customers dining in did not appear to receive priority treatment. The food once served was decent quality- though two entrees weren't hot enough- not that we would send them back. I'm sure leftovers will taste better once fully heated. I would give this restaurant another chance. It seemed to perhaps be an off night. The quality of food was fresh.
