Mei Fun with Chicken
Susan S.

My mom and I stopped here for a late lunch. This is QQ on Glendale Avenue; not sure if it is related to QQ Kitchen on Secor Road, but that was my assumption. Upon entering, it's clear that this is really a takeout place rather than an eat-in restaurant, but there are a few tables and chairs. Personally, I would have walked out due to lack of a pleasant ambiance but we decided to stay since we were there and I saw many positive reviews here. The person who took our order was very pleasant and patient in answering our questions about the menu options. My mom ordered the Mei Fun with chicken and shrimp in a spicy sauce. I had the Mei Fun with chicken in a light sauce. Since this is primarily a takeout place, our meals arrived in plastic containers with plastic forks. I liked the thin rice noodles, but it was difficult to twirl them with a flimsy plastic fork. The vegetables included shredded carrots, broccoli, snow peas, and green onion. I would have preferred more vegetables; it seemed that the vegetables were placed primarily on top, which made the dish look appetizing, but there were few vegetables beneath the noodles. Also, the snow peas were not the usual peapods I've had in other Chinese dishes; these were cut into small pieces and weren't very plentiful. The chicken portion also was rather skimpy. Rice noodles were definitely the dominant ingredient. Flavor was rather bland. My mom said her sauce was somewhat spicy but not too spicy. She also mentioned that there weren't many vegetables, but she had a decent portion of shrimp and chicken. We didn't stay long (because the chairs weren't comfortable and the plastic forks made it difficult to eat). As we put the lids on our meals to take home, our server was kind enough to offer a plastic bag for the containers. No issues with the service. Not long after we left, my stomach became extremely queasy. My mom didn't feel well either, though she didn't feel as ill as I did. We decided to throw away the leftovers and will not return to the restaurant. Based on our experience, I can't recommend the food here.

We ordered pretty much the whole "appetizer" section. I'd avoid the spare ribs. Potstickers and chicken sticks were pretty good!

I have ordered from here probably 5 times and its been adequate. I like the teriyaki chicken sticks. Tonight I was munching on the very last stick (I ate the rest) and didn't think the texture was right. I spit it out and sure enough it was completely raw. I have had salmonella poisoning before and let me tell you I am praying right now for myself because God knows if the other 4 sticks were cook properly. My guess would be no. The meat is dyed red so its hard to see in the picture but this chicken is staying in my fridge until I'm sure I'm in the clear. There is no excuse for this if your in a kitchen this is a huge rooky mistake that can kill someone. I'm so disgusted right now........If your thinking calm down you won't die from Salmonella. I have an autoimmune disease and take medication that suppresses my immune system. Update. I went there this morning to show them the chicken. I took my receipt to prove when I bought it. I also took the actual chicken in a bag and the pictures. The woman told me it was fine. I told her if it was fine she wouldn't mind if I took the chicken to the health dept. At that point she got someone else who didn't speak English and said he didn't understand the word dangerous and sick. I just wanted to make them aware and was polite until they told me it wasn't raw...not just undercooked but gelatinous RAW in the center.

Really yummy vegetable lo mein! I will be ordering takeout from QQ more often. There are a few tables inside of the restaurant.

Where's the chicken is what I kept thinking? I ordered hot n spicy chicken and crab rangoons. I didnt realize I had to specify I wanted the lunch special. The guy behind the desk was nice when I asked about the price difference so OK. He said the portion is bigger. Now I ordered this for dinner later so I didn't really look at it til 3 hours later. Nice size dish except 4/5 is onions and peppers. I mean literally filled with onions n peppers. I pulled out a handful of chicken after digging thru all those onions. and little itty bitty pieces of chicken. Nothing like the other pictures here. Chicken tasted OK. Not spicy at all though. White rice was pretty good. So now all I have left is a bunch of onions n peppers and rice. I'm going to make a pb & j sandwich. I'm still hungry.

Fried wontons

So maybe the reviews on here sweet me up for high expectations, but I was a built underwhelmed by their food. It definitely tasted good, but not great. The fried wontons were ok, kind of bland. The general Taos chicken was good, added some hot sauce to help kick up the flavor another notch. The rice was good, but I've had better rice from other Chinese places around town. All in all, not bad, but not great.

So a new Chinese food place dropped off a flyer, and we thought "Why not?" Dude. It was excellent. I've never tried Moo Shu before, and if this place is any indicator I'll be trying it more often. I went with the beef. The "pancakes" were pretty neat. Thin, almost like rice paper, but tasty and not at all brittle. You might be saying "You just loved it because beef moo shu is awesome." WRONG. The crab Rangoon was awesome as well. The egg roll was pretty awesome as well. We also ordered Crispy Beef for my wife, who prefered it to the place we usually order from, and my sons really liked the Chicken Lo Mein. I'm not sure if they deliver, as it wasn't an option on the website, but I thought I saw a driver come in when I was picking up my order. I'll probably call in next time to see. It was really clean inside and the lady at the register was very friendly. There isn't a large sitting/dining area, but I bet they do a lot of takeout. tl;dr new Chinese restaurant is great!

It is close and often good. The soups are cheap and ready quick though the curry dishes are a bit lacking in the flavor.

While the restaurant is delightfully intimate, it is wonderfully cool and serene the perfect, quiet escape for a sophisticated lunch. Even though the staff seemed quite busy when I arrived, the service was remarkably attentive. I was beyond impressed when my order arrived in under ten minutes talk about impeccable timing! I made sure to let the staff know how much I appreciated the efficiency. The Pad Thai itself was divine; it wasn't oily at all, which is a rare and welcome find. They even let me know how easy it is to take an extra order to go, which is just so practical for a busy schedule. I am officially charmed and will most certainly be a regular here whenever I'm in the area!

Tonight was our lucky night as we were seated within minutes of our arrival. QQ Kitchen is very unassuming upon entry. Small sitting area that was filled with people waiting for their take-out orders. The dining area is small and decor is simple. There is one TV monitor and tonight, "Triple D" (Diners, Drive-Ins, Dives) was on. How appropriate, huh? Menu has a lot to offer making it challenging to arrive at a snap decision. Many great choices. We started off with Spring Rolls. Very refreshing taste and the peanut dipping sauce was quite tasty. Our dinner selections: Drunken Noodles; and Pad Thai w Shrimp. Both these dishes were excellent and very fairly priced for the food quality and portion size. A great deal of foot traffic for take-out orders during the entire time we were in the restaurant. Good sign. We had a fantastic meal and we will definitely be back yo visit QQ Kitchen. Well done!

As a self-acclaimed special order person, I recognize that I may be annoying to a busy carryout business... but I've finally cracked the code here! The last two orders, I've kept it simple. Today for dinner, ordered for two people. By the way, they only take phone orders and no longer online. I ordered a large Won Ton Soup; a Vegetable Egg Foo Young with sauce on the side- and was told they always put it on the side (yay!). For myself, I ordered the steamed Chicken and Broccoli with a side of garlic sauce. Nothing too complicated. I was told the total cost would be $27.99 (from memory) - which is a great value these days and considering the generous portions of delicious food! (Sorry, getting ahead of myself!) The ambiance is very basic, as you would expect from a strictly carryout business. However, everything looked clean. Most importantly, their inspection score was 100/100 and that perfect score reassured me that everything in the kitchen was health compliant. The customer service is always consistently friendly. The order was ready on time and everything was nicely packaged in containers that ensured minimal leakage, if any. The orders both came with lots of rice and generous containers of sauces- more than we needed. My mom highly approved of her Vegetable Egg Foo Young and the sauce. She said it wasn't greasy, although fried. It came with 3 huge patties! The Won Ton Soup is always a winner in her book, although it went in the fridge for tomorrow. My Steamed Chicken with Broccoli was perfect. Chicken was burried underneath lots of fresh, green broccoli and the Garlic Sauce was the perfect balance of spicy and garlic; again, far more sauce than I needed. I would estimate that this meal portion will provide three or more meals. Check out the photos below. Highly recommend this spot for high quality and delicious Chinese carryout!

Of course, I couldn't find it anywhere online. Was she talking about QQ? Or the place that opened up where Darla's Thai Pan used to be? Well, both of these places are closed on Sunday, so we kept driving, and wow, yes, there really is a restaurant, just called "Asian Cuisine" in this strip mall. It's actually quite large; apparently it used to be the location of China Crown Buffet at some point. Anyhow, the ambiance is kind of flat. Lots of green vinyl booths. You can tell it used to be a buffet restaurant. But that is pretty much the only negative. When we came, there were several families and large parties, most of whom were Chinese. A good sign for a Chinese restaurant. The menu is pretty big, with lots of Thai and Chinese favorites. We ordered a steamed tofu dish, a seafood entrée, and a whole roast duck. Where can you get a whole roast duck these days without ordering a day ahead? Here apparently! And it is delicious, as was all of our food. Prices were quite reasonable (something like $22-24 for the duck, $9 for the steamed tofu with your choice of sauce, and about the same for the seafood stir fry dish). The hot-and-sour soup was immensely flavorful, smoky in a way, and only $1.99 for a small. Service was the friendliest I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. Friendly waitress, prompt drink refills. If this were SF or NYC, I'd say 4-stars, but for Toledo, this place is an absolute gem. This will be my go-to source for Chinese from now on. I can't wait to try the Thai, as if it is as good as the Chinese, it will save me the drive to Maumee (for Bangkok Kitchen).

I'm very surprised that this restaurant is not packed ever night, but I can only assume that word of mouth has not gotten out yet. So don't be alarmed if there are only a few tables of guests eating.
