I have ordered carryout from this restaurant for several years, as well as from other Chinese Restaurants, and have to say they have earned a solid 5 stars for best Chinese carryout imo! As a self-acclaimed special order person, I recognize that I may be annoying to a busy carryout business... but I've finally cracked the code here! The last two orders, I've kept it simple. Today for dinner, ordered for two people. By the way, they only take phone orders and no longer online. I ordered a large Won Ton Soup; a Vegetable Egg Foo Young with sauce on the side- and was told they always put it on the side (yay!). For myself, I ordered the steamed Chicken and Broccoli with a side of garlic sauce. Nothing too complicated. I was told the total cost would be $27.99 (from memory) - which is a great value these days and considering the generous portions of delicious food! (Sorry, getting ahead of myself!) The ambiance is very basic, as you would expect from a strictly carryout business. However, everything looked clean. Most importantly, their inspection score was 100/100 and that perfect score reassured me that everything in the kitchen was health compliant.The customer service is always consistently friendly. The order was ready on time and everything was nicely packaged in containers that ensured minimal leakage, if any. The orders both came with lots of rice and generous containers of sauces- more than we needed. My mom highly approved of her Vegetable Egg Foo Young and the sauce. She said it wasn't greasy, although fried. It came with 3 huge patties! The Won Ton Soup is always a winner in her book, although it went in the fridge for tomorrow. My Steamed Chicken with Broccoli was perfect. Chicken was burried underneath lots of fresh, green broccoli and the Garlic Sauce was the perfect balance of spicy and garlic; again, far more sauce than I needed. At first when I called, I was on a rather lengthy hold but I considered the fact that it was the lunch rush. I ordered a large order of Chicken Lo Mein, two egg rolls, Crab Rangoon, and an order of Shrimp Egg Foo Young. The food was amazing! It stayed hot on the 7 minute drive back to my job. Everything was really good, but the Egg Foo Young had to be the BEST I've ever had! The patties were light and fluffy with large shrimp in them and not overpowered by bean sprouts! Craving Chinese and I was in the area. This location was on Laskey Rd. Nestled in the strip mall across from Kroger. sadly my review isn't good. I had chicken fried rice and pepper steak. the white rice for the pepper steak was sticky and the fried rice was, well... orange and undercooked. It didn't taste like fried rice at all, I can't even imagine what kind it was just very different. The chicken seemed boiled and untasteful. I've tried this place several times now in recent months, all carryout. (I've never seen anyone eat in, so I'm not even sure if you can.) The woman who takes orders/money is hit or miss. She can be a very good and friendly person, or she can be an outright bear. Food wise, most of it is average to above average. I've had various soups, noodle dishes and fried rice between me and family. The Egg Drop Soup, which for me is a staple of good Chinese Food is above average, and very affordable. Noodle dishes and fried rice meals were average at best. Definitely worth checking out, but nothing to go out of your way to get. read more

This is a great go to for carry out. The food is always piping hot and delicious. I normally stick with favorites and get the same thing at various establishments, but not here. Every combination meal, every a la cartel item, appetizers and house specials have always been great. I always tip and never have any issues with the staff even though I've read less than kind comments about them. I've seen many customers be very rude to the woman at the counter. She may not have fluent English, but she makes sure your order is accurate each and every time. A kind smile, hello and kindness goes a long way with her. Be nice and they will all be nice in return. I am in love. I discovered this little gem while on a shopping trip. I was hungry and I just happened to want Chinese food. The food is to die for. I have a test. Mongolian Beef. If it can be made to my liking then they get added to the list of places that I will patronize. They passed with flying colors. If not, then I forget they even exist. The egg rolls are big and only cost 1.10 and that includes the shrimp rolls which have actual big shrimp in them. Some places have shrimp rolls and the shrimp are well, shrimpy, as in maybe 2 or 3. These babies are teeming with shrimpy goodness. My mouth is watering now just thinking abiout them. The service can be a tad surly, but over the years has warmed up. But the food, is heavenly. I have had other things and everything is served hot, and promptly. The people that run the place are right from China so they don't speak a lot of English, but no matter, the food is what you are there for. They have a good buffet, but I usually order the Mongolian beef, not too spicy and 3 or 4 of those killer egg rolls. Calling ahead is a plus and is usually ready by the time you arrive. I used to do this from my cab if I was going to empty out anywhere near Laskey Road. I would do this on Friday or Sat because I knew that I would be busy and wouldn't have time to actually pull over to eat a proper meal. We usually go to Panda, but it was closed, so we tried Chinatown. the food was mediocre and the service is terrible. The woman that served us was busy answering the telephone, saw us waiting, but just still kept answering the telephone. 10 minutes later, she's still answering the phone and helping with orders. So the food is good if you like takeout Chinese, and really who doesn't like takeout chinese, am I right? But truly, in this area it's some of the best. They don't deliver. The food is amazing. Though they messed up my order tonight (only minor, I asked for no vegetables and got vegetables), the food is still, great. My review would have 5 stars if the Chinese Nazi running the place would show any amount of politeness. When you order she says "Chinatown". You place your order and she says, "OK BYE" and hangs up. You have no idea what your total is, you have no idea when it's going to be ready and she doesn't take a name. When we arrived to pick up our food I told her my order to pick up and she spat out "$16.87" so fast I have no idea what she said. I just gave her my card. She swiped my card then threw in on the counter, ripped off the receipt for me to sign and slammed that on the counter. We used to go to Chinatown all the time, but I admit it had been at least a year since we had been for various reasons. However we decided to try it again on Christmas Eve. We knew it would be busy and being in the Christmas Spirit we were prepared for the wait! We were shocked to find that when we called we were told it would be only 15-30 minutes- HA! Big fallacy! We arrived to get our food and were surprised it still wasn't ready. No biggie- it's Christmas! It did frustrate me though that every phone call that came in (and there were many) the person answering the phone said 15-30 minutes, not one person there waiting received their food in that time. After 1 hour I asked how much longer it would be and the woman said, it was almost done and they were getting it ready. Lie! 1 hour and 40 minutes later our food was done, had I not already waited so long and it was Christmas Eve and our food choices were limited I waited it out... never ever again. The consolation offer was a .50 can of soda and a free order of crab Rangoon! When we got our order home, we realized Chinatown was not the same as we remembered it. Food was not even hot- and everyone knows that it's always hotter than the surface of the sun when you first get it! It was lukewarm and lacked taste. We ordered Chicken and pork fried rice- they were so bad even my kids who love fried rice refused to eat it. My husband said his spare ribs were decent and my sons Spicy pork dish were just ok. My beef and broccoli was not good and the meat tasted slightly rancid. The crab Rangoon was decent but cold! I drive halfway across town to get food here, and I hate driving. People complain about the cranky lady but that's just part of her charm .smile and say hello to her sometimes you'll get a smile back, but the kids are usually upfront running the show anymore, and they're both very nice and polite. I can't say that I have ever gotten anything from here that was not awesome, especially the general Tso's chicken. So even if you don't live close to it is definitely worth the drive. read more

As far as Chinese takeout in west toledo goes, Chinatown is a good place. While I haven't dined in, I do get takeout when I am closeby. There is one woman who seems to always be there, she is very short on the phone and seems grumpy in person, but I think her English is limited. Takeout orders are always ready very quickly and are very hot. My favorite is the vegetable lo mein, there is lots of fresh broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. The food is good and it is served hot and pretty quickly. The rice was dry and mediocre, but the sauce on the chicken and steak was pretty good. I would recommend utilizing the takeout service primarily. It says you can eat in, but the dining room is a ghost town and mostly used for storage. We literally felt like we were intruding on someone's home, uninvited. The owners/employees were sitting and eating and one was just staring at us over her shoulder the whole time. She was also fairly rude from beginning to end. I couldn't understand what she was telling me after I ordered, I kept saying "I'm sorry" so she just yelled the same phrase over and over in my face until my boyfriend figured out that she was trying to make us pay separately for our food. When we sat she tossed a few napkins and sauce packs on the table and we had to ask for silverware. She just pointed to where we could go pick them up with an "are you stupid" look on her face. This is easily the best Chinese food in Toledo! I've been going there for years now and the food has not changed one bit. Its the same group of people working there and I always leave satisfied. I am absolutely in love with their Almond Boneless Chicken. There is absolutely nowhere like this on this end of town. The service is always great. This is my favorite Chinese place. The woman who runs the place is absolutely hilarious in the fact it seems like everyday is the worst day of her life. You'll know that just by placing a takeout order over the phone. Doesn't matter. The food is terrific and the portions are falling out of the box they stuff it completely. This place is terrible. The lady that takes orders is very rude, which I could tolerate if the food were good, but it's not. I ordered General Tso's Chicken, and my friend ordered Sesame Chicken. We got the exact same dish except hers had sesame seeds sprinkled on it. General Tso's should be spicy, but mine had absolutely zero spice and was thick, sickly sweet. Like eating candy sweet. First off, I called ahead and asked about delivery. She yelled back at me No dewivewy NO NO Do not Dewiver. I said I will call back with a pickup order. I thought to myself well kinda rude. Well I thought lets give it a try. So I called back and placed an order of large egg drop soup, large house lo mein and large sweet & sour chicken. Basically hung up before I had a chance to give my name or number. When I pulled up there was nobody there. just a lady behind the counter. I told her what I ordered, she slapped down the bag of food, I handed her my CC and she slapped the card and receipt on the counter. The whole time she had this smile on her face. Kinda a warm inviting smile but her actions were anything but warm. Anyway the food was very plentiful, very warm and fresh. Good soup, loved the lo mein and the GF liked the SS chicken.
