Let's start off with the starters.... Hands down some of the best crab rangoon and dumplings in the city. They have a great mix of more traditional, Chinese dishes, and American Chinese dishes. The menu is huge, and the portions match. The service is spot on! If you miss the Chinese food in food town as much as the rest of us head on over. It's the same owners, the same great flavors, and speaking of the same... The decor has not been updated since the 80s and I'm here for it!! it's like a step back in time between the wood paneling and the vinyl booths. It's no frills chinese food done well at a great price! Where else can you get a pile of rice, two egg rolls, 2 soups, 2 entrees, an appetizer and two drinks for $35. We have enough food leftover for an entire meal tomorrow. Adam, was our server and he's a whole vibe! Even gave us recommendations of where to eat when we aren't in town! Who takes the time to write down dim sum and hand pulled noodle spots in Michigan? ADAM! If you want those recommendations and I am sure you do you'll have to go into Golden Dragon and ask him yourself. While you're there make sure to get the chow fun! You won't be disappointed. The food here is old time Chinese. Nothing different from what everyone ate waaaaaay back when. They do a fine job with egg foo young, fried rice, sweet and sour, subgum, etc. I did try the dried beef and it was almost like a cross between Hunan beef and Mongolian beef (but without the onions). Really tasty. The egg rolls are on the pretty good side of things, but maybe a bit too much five spice??? The hot and sour soup is pretty good too. The dining room... OK, this place was probably remodeled when LBJ was president. It's really tired. When looking around, I'd say the finishes are just worn out. I'd say that, but when you park in the back parking lot and walk by the fenced in "outside janitor closet" and cart storage, I don't know what to think. I kind of expect Freddy Krueger to come popping out. The mop bucket and mop is filthy. Managment, do you really want your customers to see that stuff? For typical Cantonese stuff, the food is fine. We love Golden Dragon. The food is excellent and the staff is super friendly. I crave their wonton soup and fried wontons. The Salt Baked spicy shrimp and tofu is my favorite. The pork lomein is great too. My hubby loves the BBQ rib appetizer, fried dumplings and egg drop soup. He likes the shrimp with lobster sauce for an entree. read more

When you first enter here you walk back into the 70's with the in at the time paneling. With stacks of here and there, paper, boxes, vacuums, mops, coat racks with years of coat lost and found, Buddha statue, imitation cherry blossom tree, 2 kids bicycles, in a couple places, the greeter had personality as of dry wall, the food was terrible. Excellent Almond chicken. The Golden dragon Chicken (general Taos) and the sesame chicken were very good as well. I like the spring rolls, I do wish the eggrolls were made with bean sprouts, but that is getting hard to find anywhere. We were not sure of the ham fried rice, but was pleasantly surprised with how much we liked it the crab Rangoon's really are just cream cheese, but still very good and the dumplings were tasty as well. Since the business was sold to another family, the quality of the food has really gone downhill. The General Tso chicken dish is basically Sweet and Sour chickee with pineapple and green pepper in the sauce. No spice, and no broccoli. The Hunan Chicken medium spicy was tasteless, and the Chicken Lo Mein falls flat. This was my go-to Chinese place, and now I have to find another one. read more

Yes, it's old-time Chinese cooking, but the ingredients are fresh and hot when you receive your food. The wait staff is attentive and welcoming. I was happy to find that there's a new owner who has cleaned up the restaurant and knows how to cook the food. Food was bland and tasteless. I had beef chop suey and it was very watery with liquid overflowing throughout the styrofoam serving container. The egg roll was actually sitting in an inch of watery liquid. They couldn't spare an extra 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch to properly thicken their entree? And again, it was tasteless. You couldn't discern any spices or seasoning... just the texture of the undercooked bean sprouts and vegetables. Hard to see, because their outside sign is missing half of the logo. Coming from the north, you see fluorescent lights and "Dragon". Coming from the south, you see fluorescent lights and "Golden". I guess if you stood in the center you'd see "Golden Dragon". LOL! I ordered Hot and Sour Soup and Princess Chicken. Both were great. I couldn't believe how quickly my order came out. The restaurant needs to pay attention to how it looks to the public. Lots of trash outside in the back of the building where you park and walk to the front entrance. The outside sign is tacky. This is a nice little gem of a restaurant. You can tell that the owners work hard to provide a tasty meal. They are reasonably priced, and use quality materials in their food. I have visited this restaurant on three separate occasions and always found that the meals are very satisfactory. There is nothing fancy about this restaurant, but the food is not fabricated or gimmicky. It is wholesome food in the Chinese style. It's not the best Chinese that I've ever had, but after working a full day, I find their food to be simple, and very acceptable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a savory Chinese meal that won't break your budget. read more

So this place has zero health code violations huh? okay well it was kind of old, it looked kind of dingy, but the food was good..... good but not great. The place down the road is better , and the Chinese place in Dundee, Michigan is superior. I think where this place excels is the amount of food you get for the money. They are able to do this with the money they've saved on not remodeling in decades. The food was good ...the service was good, it was a good value , but nothing here was outstanding. My wife says it used to be better years ago, until new players came and upped the ante. If you are seeking Chinese bang for your buck you'll do okay here. Underrated Chinese restaurant in Toledo. The almond boneless chicken is excellent and the sweet and sour sauce is homemade and very unique. The signature dish, the golden dragon is delicious as well. Similar to a General Tso chicken except the breading is extra crunchy and has a tangy and spicy kick to it. If you want something a little different, try the Chinese pork chop, the seasoning and flavored are excellent. read more

Have been to Golden Dragon once but plan on returning! The restaurant is easy to miss as it is located in a mostly vacant strip mall. It seems a lot of people complain of the decor, yes it is older but more importantly it is clean! The restaurant appears very dark inside due to the lack of light bouncing off the dark wooden panels. My eyes adjusted soon enough. The bathrooms get 4.5 stars as well. Cleaner and more updated than I expected! As for the food, I can only speak for the authentic dishes which were delicious! Service is fast and polite. I have only dined in so not sure about carry out. I happened to be there when the restaurant was getting their health department report and overheard that they did very well which was comforting. Overall a good experience and my top choice for Chinese food in the Toledo area. Half a star off for the restaurants limited natural light. I'll be back! read more

This is the place for Taiwanese food if you're in Toledo. It was a nice change. They only seemed to have one person in the kitchen when I ordered so my order took a while. I had some hot and sour soup while waited. It was good. Anyways, they have all the Taiwanese specials you'll want like 3 Cup Chicken and Spicy organ meats with pig's blood. We live down the street from Golden Dragon and get take-out regularly. I love the almond boneless chicken from here - best in the area. When you do eat in, the staff is very friendly. My only complaint is when you order takeout, you are charged extra for the soup which is included in the meal if you eat in. Other than that, love the place! read more

Not surprising, the decor is STILL outdated and the entrance was filthy. I was pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered the same thing I have always gotten and it wasn't good. I have been getting carry out from this place for years. I always order my fried rice without the vegetables. When I called to order today I was told that in order to get my rice with no vegetables it would cost me an extra dollar! They explained this by saying that the rice is already made with vegetables in it and in order to make it without they'd have to make my order fresh. The money is not the issue here, it's the fact that I'm bring made to pay extra if I request my food be made fresh and the way I like it. I'm treated better than that at a drive thru! I usually only write reviews when something is really good or really bad. Unfortunately in this case it was something really, really bad! I ordered take out from this restaurant and it was the absolute worst Chinese food I have ever had. There is a reason why they do not have a menu online. That being the case, I ordered standard items that have ordered from other Chinese restaurants in the past, but this time the food was unrecognizable. One example was Beef Lo mein. When I opened the container I noticed that there was almost no beef and a lot of very small noodles. As I began to eat, I almost had to spit it out because there were huge clumps of uncooked dough all through it. The hot sour soup had very little taste, the egg rolls were like pulling apart wax paper with your teeth. I will never order from this place again! read more

Amazed that there is this quality of Chinese food in the Toledo area! I've eaten in most of the Chinese restaurants in the Boston area, it's definitely compares with the best! Don't let the outside fool you, it looks abandoned, but inside is clean and service is great. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken is to die for, better than Jojo Taipei, and other places in Boston. They have this combo salt and pepper fried seafood dish that's amazing too, definitely try it out. For those of you interested in more authentic foods, start your meal out with the pickled Chinese cabbage pig tripe soup, this place does a lot with pig tripe in general, I tried out the sizzling plate pig intestine and it was fantastic. read more

The breading on the chicken dishes we ordered was so thick and mushy it was just plain gross!! The eggrolls had an odd taste to them and the fried rice had no flavor at all!
