Another gem hiding in plain site!! We see it every time we drive down I-95 towards Chester. Maggie…read moreMay's, she's worth the effort to get off 95 and weave thru the neighborhood. Jeff is the (one of the) owner, bartender, cook and not rude (in contrast to comments on google maps). As you can see in pics, the CS is small. But so is the price and it does taste good. The roll was big and bread which is what you want after a long day of drinking. Very good overall experience!!

As the Christmas holiday approached, they had mini pine trees on every table. Nobody watered them and the pine trees died. They stayed on the tables. Little dead sticks in Christmas wrapping paper. It was amazing. You can see it from the interstate, but it's tough to get through the warren of Chester streets to get to it. Your best bet is to just walk down 17th street towards Philadelphia. When you think there's no way that a BAR could possibly be back HERE, you're almost there. The road ends in Maggie May's, basically. Cheap drinks, cozy space, friendly bartender. Show up 3 times and be polite and you'll be a regular whose drink orders are remembered. I love this place.

Interesting stop while in Philadelphia. I was interested in trying some of the fruity beers or…read moresours but they were out of everything. The bar tender kept saying that they just tapped those kegs but what he meant is that the kegs 'kicked' as they were no longer available. Our flights were ok but not the best craft beer I've tried. I liked the set up and the outdoor beer garden. If I were back in the area I'd try it again to see if their fruity beer or sours were on tap.

For the tiny location that is tucked away off of Old State in Media, there is so much more space in here than one would expect when looking from the outside. We were actually seated at first, but already had dinner plans for a bit later in the evening so moved to the bar area, which we had a little bit of trouble finding at first, but was OBVIOUS once we realized where it was located within the building. Everyone was wonderful and the place was pretty busy for as early in the evening that we arrived, and each person we encountered was great, including Ryan behind the bar where we eventually settled. He was quick with our beer order; me settling with an Oktoberfest, another of us with a nitro porter, and yet another with an Orange crush, as well as a nice heaping plate of sweet potato fries that were perfectly crisp, salted impeccably, and served piping hot...possibly some of the best I've had in the area The beer was outstanding, with the nitro porter easily being the star of the drink order. However, neither of the others were any slouch, and everything came quickly, with the staff very keen on our requests due to our reservations elsewhere later on. Having been in the area for several years now and frequenting Media, I likely should have come here far earlier and many more times by now, although it simply hadn't happened yet. This will definitely be a place that I will be returning to for a full meal, a few flights and some other drinks so that I can fully experience their offerings beyond what I can find in stores close to me. If you are in Media and want some barbecue and tasty, fresh, local brews, do not pass up the Stirling Pig.

We travelled from Columbia, MD to this area to see a show at the Lansdown Theater (great show…read morebtw!). We left home early to catch an early dinner near the venue. I found this one by zooming in on googlemaps and asking for restaurants in the area and this one looked like a winner! And it was! The staff said that is from the bar drains that are in that corner. Try to stay away from that end. The bar area also has a stage area where there is live entertainment some evenings, ranging from open mic, live bands, quizzo, DJ/dance floor, and karaoke. They also have a large screen they use to broadcast major sporting events. The restaurant tables are typical casual dining style with a mixture of free standing tables and chairs. There are separate areas for larger groups and private parties. The staff is friendly and attentive. As they get to know you, they remember your name and your usual food and drink orders. Kudos to the bartenders for knowing what "up" means! I always get my goto drink, Grey Goose up with a twist, prepared properly and generously here. Can't say that about some bars in Delco I have been to--either incorrect or overpriced. The food is overall typical for a casual dining/bar. There are some must-try items on the menu. If you like crabmeat, the Norwood tots are a different twist with how to have crabmeat. Creative! The pizzas are pretty good as well. I am very much a "purist" when it comes to what a pizza should be made of, but the cauliflower-crust is my exception. I haven't had good pizza in Delco until I had the cauliflower-crust pizza. A thin, crispy crust! Not the thick, doughy crust that I have encountered with most Delco pizza places. For those that don't like cauliflower, have no fear. The cauliflower-crust pizza does not taste like cauliflower. You would not know it contains cauliflower. There are also some great specials I have enjoyed. One special I really loved was the halibut with risotto. I could eat that EVERY day! I come here pretty often. I have come here for lunch, dinner, drinks, and held my 50th birthday party here. Always a good experience.

It's been over 10 years since I was here, and it's still got the same spirit and a continental menu…read morethat features popular foods. The space is pretty large. The bar has a good mix of sports being broadcast on TVs. I could watch live hockey, basketball and baseball easily. It's a solid place to grab some comfort food and drinks. The fish & chips plate is respectable; has 3 good-sized fillets with a nice rémoulade sauce. I found the caesar salad to be decent and when requested that dressing and cheese come on the side, it was no problem. The famous kennett square mushroom soup is too intense. Strong portobello mushrooms dominate and concentrated truffle oil only increases this, doesn't offer any counterbalance. Staffers are friendly.

The only thing that really WOWED me was the butter that came with the croissant. I can eat that whole thing by itself. Very creamy with a hint of zest. Yum! As far as the croissants was concerned, some tasted like it was stale. The pork schnitzel (4/5) entrée was pretty good. I didn't care for the sausage and gravy topping though. Would've been better without it. Anyway, the mashed potatoes were creamy, buttery, and airy. The greens were garlicky and kind of salty. Grilled chicken Caesar (2.5/5) salad was okay. The dressing lacked in a lot of ways. More citrusy and less saltiness from anchovies. The mushroom bisque was a little grainy. Would I care for coming back? Maybe. Not anytime soon though.
