a classic 21st celebration with Jeff

oh where do I even begin with good ole maggie mays .. this little dive bar holds the hearts of widener's finest undergrads, grads, alum and faculty. be nice to your bartenders (BA, Carly and Jeff (; ) and they'll be twice as nice to you - they make all the difference in this little bar. trivia/karaoke Thursdays are a staple, lunch and a beer on a random afternoon after a stupid exam is a requirement and ending up here wasted and needing drunchies during keg crawl is inevitable. they have all the staples and more on tap, have cool breweries visit quite often, corn hole in the back and great tunes. although it may seem like just a bar, it quickly becomes a dancing frenzy so don't downplay this places potential for a great great time. cheers to you maggie's, can't wait till I make it back!

    Not bad deals

Best litle bar ever. Maggie Mays is located in the Sun Hill are of Chester which is a college area. Great place to stop by after work specially when you have a long stressfull day. The bartender JEFF makes his own hot sauce for the wings. Yes , they area great.

Gotta love the local campus bar. Warning, while the fat Maggie is delicious it leaves little room for drinking.

My friend got a raffle ticket past 11:00 even though the raffle ended at 11:00. Besides that great hang out spot.

We were semi-self service in the restaurant because it was only 1 person working in the front. I felt really bad for him. He took sometime to order and brought the food out. Nevertheless the food was good. The mussels were flavorful. The sauce was white-wine base. Very unique. It came with the garlic bread on the side. I highly recommend to try. The wings are tender and juicy inside, good texture, not dry. Many tables and seats inside. Bathroom is ok. Street parking. Overall a good place to watch sports and get rowdy with tasty food.

Tap 24 was the one that had dining area right in front of the entrance with huge large glass window, so we were able to enjoy the beautiful summer day while dining. The dining space was not as big as regular restaurants, few tables in front for larger groups and smaller ones were further inside across the bar. The bar huge though where most people hung out. They also had a game viewing area in the back. But though out the place there were several TVs that had the game on. The menu had plenty of popular American style dishes. I got to try the chicken wings and mussels for appetizers. Both were excellent. My friends loved their sandwiches and salmon dishes as well. All the dishes were served within a short wait time. The bartender was serving our table as well. He did really good job. We had a wonderful time hanging out with everyone while dining and watching the game.

We went in winter but I'm sure it's packed in summer. The Crab Cake Sandwich is a must. It's actually full of lump crab meat instead of just being a bunch of breading and filler. We also got the Loaded Cheese Fries and they were total comfort food. The portions are huge, Great service and we even forgot our cell phone and they kept it for us to pick up. Wonderful group of people.

If you want a four top and two top tables together to seat 5, you have to sit in the land-side dining room. Service after seating was pleasant and helpful. Menu items vary from bar food to upscale dining choices, old school to trendy. The standout here was the old school clams casino. The flavors were nicely balanced and enjoyable. We would order these again and it's probably the only thing that would bring us back. We tried the fried fish sandwich, roast beef dip sandwich and roast pork sandwiches. All of them were generously large and 1/2 sandwich was enough to satisfy. While the roll was delicious and the fillings plentiful, they just did not have enough flavor.

I almost thought it was closed, but nope! There wasn't a big crowd, but it was a Monday at 7pm. A bunch of regulars enjoying the space. It was fairly loud with music. Super friendly folks working here. Our server was very sweet and made some recommendations as well as advised the specials for the night. Small hiccup with the beer I was served, but it was wet, so I drank the beer I was given. Ordered up the baked clam special. BBQ sauce and cheese was an odd combination, but actually quite good. I had the mussels and spaghetti for dinner. I asked for the Diavolo sauce, but not sure I received it. The sauce was not spicy at all, but some added red pepper flakes did the trick. The mussels were fantastic and a ton of them too. Spaghetti was cooked well and swimming in sauce. Small loaf of warmed bread for dipping. My wife had a chicken cutlet sandwich and she found it a bit bland if I'm being honest. She dipped her bread in my sauce to give it a bit more flavor. They put on the home run derby which was appreciated. All in all, a fun stop. Not quite sure I'd return unless I needed a place to hang before that next run to PHL. They were very nice and appreciative of the business and we enjoyed our time dining here.
