Upon walking in you get more of a bar vibe than brewery vibe, while not a bad thing just not what I expected. They had one beer locally brewed as our server explained they were in the middle of moving locations. I did however have my first Key Lime Pie Crush! I'm a HUGE beer fan, so my sister recommended visiting a couple of breweries after seeing some family up north. This was a secondary stop for us after we went to a brewery nearby. In fact, the beertender recommended that we check out the food. Parking was a bit tight, even for a Wednesday. I can't imagine how one would find a place to park on a Friday or Saturday. It seems like limited parking. I loved the environment when walking in. Big space with plenty of room. We decided to belly up to the bar for food and drink. The first order of business was the beer. We were greeted and given samples to try, but the guy insisted that he couldn't take our order. Strange... anyhow, none of the IPAs were up to par, and I was tired of trying beer, so I just requested their best porter. The beer was okay. It now made sense why 2/3 of their drink board is filled with cocktails and other mixed drinks. We ordered food. I got the Bama Brisket and fries. While the brisket was a tad dry, the overall sandwich was amazing. The fries reminded me of Thrashers fries and gave me some beach nostalgia. While enjoying my meal and drink, I would periodically get pelted by the dropping condensation from the HVAC. I understand that it's hot outside and cool in here, but that wasn't a pleasant experience. I wonder if it could be fixed. Overall, I wouldn't visit again for beer, nor would I sit at the bar. Doing a brewery tour through Harford and Cecil counties and decided this was the worst of our stops. I had super high hopes on the way here, and they have such potential - what with their branding, location, and size of their building, but, what's bad just outweighs the good, unfortunately... Pros: - The one beer I tried, the Hikin' Viking IPA, was okay, not phenomenal, but not bad. - The wings came highly recommended and were, indeed, very good, though they were out of some of their sauce selections. - The place itself and their bathrooms are clean and nicely decorated. Cons: - 7 of 12 of their beers on tap weren't brewed by them, which, is fine, if you're just a craft beer bar first and a brewery second, but not so good if you're trying to give folks a chance to taste what you can do. We were warned that this might be the case but for as large as the building is, I would expect them to be able to showcase more than 5 beers. - The service is EXTREMELY lackluster despite the brewery not being very busy at all. With the exception of one young lady, who was only just average at best, the other 2 young servers behind the bar were more interested in socializing with each other or with the patrons with whom they were obviously friends and spent time sitting with them at their table. - As another reviewer pointed out some time ago, the TouchTunes jukebox is only for show. The place has it on but blocked off from playing anything so we lost money trying to play a few decent songs. The music playing was largely rap or modern pop and not at all music you normally hear at craft breweries. This tells me that they either don't monitor what their employees are doing (also evident by the lack of decent service) OR they don't understand the craft beer market. Overall, I'm happy I stopped in just to check this one off the list, and the wings WERE good, but I can't say I would recommend the brewery experience itself or make a special trip to come back. The food here is amazing, an actual party in my mouth with every bite of that sandwich. And there is something about those fries, they are salty with a little sweet and a tiny spice, so so good. I've also gotten bite sized cheeseburgers and loaded nachos from here, I am always very satisfied with my meal and can not wait to try more of the menu! read more

Pretzels were good, scrapple fries were fun, and then I saw wings, brisket, sandwiches, and the biggest hub cap of nachos I'd ever seen. This ain't just a brewery!! Great menu, great beers on draft plus wines, martinis, crushes and others. I can see how on a nice spring or summer afternoon this place is probably packed! Small parking lot and kinda tiny inside, I bet when business is popping service is probably a little slower and service too. That seemed to the the most negative thing for previous reviewers. This place is very small town feel and they make you feel at home. My girlfriend and I tried the BBQ Chicken Nachos and the maple sriracha wings along with the beers pictured and I must say! I was going to google Valhalla to get a definition but I'm OK with assuming it means 'place where great concepts go to fail miserably.' The beers were mediocre and not much of a variety. The worst part is half the beers were guest beers and there was still no variety. The service was horrible. I asked the male bartender if they had a beer list he told me to look at the blackboard. There was no description of the beers on the blackboard. The other bartender was slow. The busgirl's friend was making the most loud obnoxious bird call sounds. The food was amazing. Whoever runs the kitchen, immediately separate yourself from the rest of that place. I got the petite crabcake on a pretzel roll. This was heaven on earth, complementary ingredients in the proper portions and prepared perfectly. Carole got the sliced turkey special. Another example of how nice little touches can make an ordinary sandwich taste great. The big ass pretzel and it's three sauces were to die for. The maple sugar sauce is an absolute 'can not live without' item. If it was feasible I would use it everytime I use a liquid. It is an interesting Viking inspired microbrewery where the wifi name is "son-of-odin". (creative) Great food, great beer, great atmosphere. I had been wanting to try this place for awhile. We stopped by for food after picking cherries at nearby Milburn Orchards. So glad we did! Everything we ordered was delicious. Portions sizes were much larger than we expected. We all took leftovers home. It's not a full service restaurant so food is ordered at the bar and taken to a seat. Drove out of our way to visit this brewing company after a few other brewery stops throughout our day. The place had been recommended by someone at our prior stop who noted they had good wings. That's probably the only positive thing we experienced.... The wings. They have TouchTunes but it was being overridden by a staff playlist and we never heard our songs. The workers were all very young (which is great) but they all had friends there that were drunk and the workers would go sit at the tables with them. During a recent trip to MD, we visited 3 breweries in the area, and this was the only one that had cider. We also tried the Angry Asian spicy wings. We were expecting the spiciness to be a more Tabasco vinegary spicy, but was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't, it was a bit sweet. Very delicious and spicy! Visiting Valhalla is becoming an annual pre-Thanksgiving tradition for our family. Every visit we have received excellent and friendly service. We always enjoy trying the variety of wing sauces, and particularly enjoyed the spicy Thor's Hammer and tasty Carolina Mustard on our most recent visit. The beer drinkers in our group enjoyed trying out some flights, and there are also some wine options available for those of us who don't like beer. We will definitely be back! read more

Heard about this new brewery in my hometown (which is not a place known for "up and coming" or trendy things) so I was super excited to try it out. Went on a sunday afternoon before football started. We were greeted warmly and the beer menu was explained to us along with how to order food. Drinks are ordered at the bar, food can be ordered at the bar or the self serve kiosk. We ended up getting a flight which only had 3 of their beers and a "guest beer". From what Ive heard they cant keep up with the demand which can be a good and bad problem at the same time because most people want to try what they have to offer. I love that they are thriving but this needs to be remedied as I go to a brewery to try their beers. Keep up the great work though!! The beers were tasty, my favorite was the chocolate pumpkin porter. It fufilled my pumpkin spice need without overkill of spices. They do offer mead and local wines. Some of the other beers they said were local but the one sesdion ipa I looked up was from CA. Still a good selection of brews for all tastes. We also decided to order wings and a big ass pretzel (thats what they call it). The food is smoked on site. Wings were big and meaty, the asian sauce was fabulous! I did find the meat a bit tough on some wings but they had great flavor and Id order them again. The pretzel was certainly big and accompanied by beer cheese, honey mustard and maple dipping sauces. All were delicious!! This place is definitely kid friendly during the day. Parking is at a minimum so get there early on game days because it was packed! I appreciate they had tunes playing but not so loud you couldnt have a conversation. Theres a good mix of long tables with benches and high top tables as well as seating at the bar (complete with outlets to charge your phone). We visited at 6 pm on Halloween. There were two people seated at the bar, and 6 people in the small dining area. Not crowded, but it took the bartender/owner, Kevin, ten minutes to acknowledge us. There was a woman hustling around organizing the shirts and hats and delivering food who ignored us. When Kevin finally walked over to us he was friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. The board behind the bar gave the Valhalla Brewing beer choices and guest beer choices. We had to request menus and flagged him down to give our orders. The menu is small but varied. I liked the selections -- it is a step up from pub food. Husband had Valhalla IPA and gave it a thumbs up. I had the chocolate porter and it was superb. The appetizers (Memphis Style Wings made with their house porter) and our dinners (Korean Pork Tacos and Southern Dip Sandwich) arrived at the same time; we would have preferred the appetizer before the meal. The wings were very tasty (6 for $8). The Southern Dip Sandwich ($13) was unevenly heated -- perfectly warmed in some parts and HOT in others. I'm assuming the filling was heated in the microwave before putting on the roll. The Korean Tacos ($12) were delightful; just enough heat to be enjoyable. While we were eating dinner a fellow from the liquor board popped in for a surprise inspection, so Kevin was occupied for about 15-20 minutes and the server was nowhere to be seen. My review is 3 stars because of the service. I'm assuming they were understaffed. I sincerely hope Valhalla hires more servers because their product is great. read more

We went missing quarantine for take out crowlers and food. The wings we delicious, fall off the bone perfectly cooked. We like the chili lime wings the best, sweet with just a little bit of spice that cuts through. The Juice is Loose crowler was so good we went back for a second one. The staff was super friendly and also respectful. People were wearing masks and came to greet you at the front door or out at your car. Stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon. Very nice place. Very friendly staff. Food truck out front. They offer wine, hard liquor, and beer (not just theirs). I had a sampler of their beer (all but the IPA's). They offered a variety of styles and I was able to find lots of choices In which I had an interest. The Double Belgian was excellent, if a little boozy. Their Lemon Moon Shandy was great for a hot day. Oh, the Butterscotch Porter tasted like it's name - I just wish it was a bit colder to really enjoy. Only downside was the parking was a little tight. If the place was very busy (say on a Saturday night) I can imagine it being crazy to find a spot. Their are three breweries in Elkton. Great places to stop if you want to try a number of local beers. I have been to Valhalla Brewing Company on a number of occasions. Its a good night out. However, now that I have had time to think about it, I have mixed emotions about the place. #1. My friend and I went there for their Scrapple Fries. YA'LL NEED TO TRY THESE! THEY ARE SPECTACULAR!!! #2. We also ordered the Jumbo Lump Crabby Nachos. Everything about these were great but there was no JUMBO LUMP crab in them. There was crab, but it wasn't JUMBO LUMPS. #3. The best drink we had at Valhalla was the mead they offered. Valhalla does not brew this mead. Some other place makes the mead and I am going to go to that place to fill a growler with mead. A place named Valhalla should make their own mead if they are going for a Viking type of theme. In fact, Valhalla has lots of beers made by other brands and companies. Most breweries I have been to, you look at the beer menu and its mostly THAT BREWERY'S beers. Finally, the Valhalla beer I tried did not excite me. The mead I tried I totally want to drink again but it wasn't made by Valhalla. The nachos- I loved the way the chips, queso, old bay tasted all together but they skimped on the JUMBO LUMP like advertised on the menu and Matt the bar tender seemed too busy to talk to us. First time here for me and the hubby. Went out on the Harley to enjoy the nice weather and decided to try this place out. We had heard about it but haven't had the chance to visit as of yet. I don't drink beer or wine and I thought that is all that they had, so was very happy to see a full service bar with alcohol as well. But I gotta say the food is the winner here. Hubby got the Maple Siracha Wings, which were the most beautiful, shiny, glistening basket of food I have ever seen! Lol. He didn't even order them extra crispy like we always do and they were nice and crispy. My husband absolutely LOVED these. However, I wasn't a fan of the smoked flavor in the wing. I know I'm probably on my own here, but the wing and sauce itself was so phenomenal that I felt the smoke overpowered the flavor of it all. But that is probably just me. Please make regular ones too!! I got the Crabster Balls (a cross between hush puppies and crab) with Maple Siracha and Old Bay Drawn Butter sauces (they were out of the Carolina Mustard unfortunately). WOW! I am headed back JUST for those!! They are tender, and flavorful. They don't even need any dipping sauce at all. I didn't get to try the Scrapple fries, but believe me, I will not miss them the next time! Their Maple Siracha sauce is absolutely amazing. It's more flavor than it is hot and spicy, which is more me. But enough "tang" to make me very happy. They have much hotter sauces as well though. Can't wait to head back soon. read more

We stopped down with some friends who live in the area. It was full bit not overly busy. Their concept is pretty cool. It's all self order. They have a kiosk or you order at the bar. I wish that was a little more obvious but it's really easy to do. There was one server and she was friendly and busy, also very helpful. We had everyone of their beers and the Mead, all excellent. We had both flatbreads and 4 flavors of wings as well as the big(and boy is it) pretzel. All were excellent. Some of the best wings I've ever had. We live about an hour away and I can't wait to go back down there. If I lived close to this place I would probably be reported missing by my wife until she thought to look at Valhalla.
