There aren't tourist books about the Pascack Valley train line, but I've been enjoying the trees and the food discoveries like this friendly spot with substantial, juicy burgers. On my first visit I was drawn to the exotic hot dogs; I recommend the Italian. The next time I got the Something Bacon and Blue, which put toppings like caramelized onions to fine use without overshadowing the beef, and the excellent fries. Was in the area so stopped in for lunch. I got the lemon pepper wings which taste ok. The lemon pepper seasoning was good but the wings them selves were just ok didn't taste the freshest. I also got the chocolate bread pudding I'm a huge bread pudding fan but this one just didn't do it for me. I am so bummed that we had a poor experience with TLB tonight and hoping it is a one-off. We ordered a plain hot dog, chicken sliders combo, and kids cheeseburger, all which had extremely burnt and hard buns. It was difficult to eat so we took the meat off and ate it like that. The chicken from the sliders had zero flavor so I didn't eat them. Our order of fries was raw and inedible. It's like....fine?? We've been looking forward to trying it, ordered on DoorDash. We live exactly 9 minutes away. Everything: luke warm, at best. Fries....fine...no seasoning not even salt? Sweet potato fries...clearly a real sweet potato but also...bland? Not crispy at all. Onion rings, soggy. So all of these had to go in the air fryer and even then...just kind of flat. Burgers ALL too rare, I'm a medium rare person and this was bloody. Original with bacon. A 5. Max. The remake...little bit of an odd flavor combination, also a 5. Max. Bacon blue, 6. I would give them another try NOT for take out but I'm not sure id spend almost 80.00 for 3 burgers, 3 fries/sides and 3 sodas to have to cook and season again. Everything needed seasoning. The house made ketchup, sort of reminiscent of ketchup as a kid but also, closer to tomato paste. BBQ sauce good Ranch great! Upon further review...the entire problem with the burger is the burger that is a pre shaped brick patty, La Frieda must have seen better days because this is a frozen tasting texturally unpleasant situation. Hit or miss? This was somewhere in between. We got takeout based on the photos provided on Yelp. You can see ours looked a *little* different. The fries were ok, not very crispy but that's what comes with hand cut. They tossed in a couple of ketchup packets for free. The rings were good, but as you can see, the portion was tiny for $5. We did have to pay extra for chipotle mayo, which was good but you can include ONE sauce if we get $9 worth of sides! The burgers were a good size. The tree hugger had potential, but just didn't compare to the picture. It fell apart as you ate it. The Texas burger was also good, but neither was out of this world. Have now been here twice and can certify that the quality of the food is well above average. The chicken sandwiches are crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside, and the beef burgers are flavorful. The Spicy Chicken is definitely a favorite as the slightly-sweet bun perfectly balances the light heat of the Buffalo sauce. Today I had the Morning After and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The fried egg on top was cooked perfectly, as the runny yolk stayed intact until I took my first bite. I decided to swap Mayo for Chipotle Mayo and thought it the perfect compliment to the other ingredients, including the beef burger, melted cheese, avocado, applewood smoked bacon on the toasted English muffin. First off, definitely filling. Solid lunch or dinner. I thought Texas Hold'em was solid. It could use a stronger BBQ sauce. I appreciate the burger NOT being slathered in sauce, so it really is a point of a bolder sauce. Burger wasn't greasey. Clean eat. My wife liked the original. She called it an upgraded Big Mac, meaning that classic iconic burger at a higher, premium quality. I loved my parmesan fries. My wife thought there a bit too well done. So we came here because we are always excited to try something new. The food was really good but very pricey. The vibe of the restaurant had potential but unfortunately not completely met. Either the owner or manager sat outside a long hallway while working which took up a lot of space and there seemed to be a huge water delivery because there was a long table with stacks of water on it. They should definitely invest in a cleaning company because the hall to the back door was gross and falling apart and the bathroom was disgusting so bad so I didn't want to touch anything! Do NOT get ANY of the donuts. They're WAY overpriced and had I given them a closer look or asked the price first before purchasing them, I probably would have just walked out. And to those who ask why anyone would consider eating donuts from a burger place has never had brisket from a gas station in KC. I don't know if this was a great idea by someone there to make a little extra with a couple impulse add-ons to what is generally a good burger / sandwich place or if someone actually said "hey these are good, you should sell them". I hope not the latter. For starters they're cake donuts. Ask anyone who likes cider donuts (or donuts, period) if they prefer them to deep fried. Next, they're tiny. And the pumpkin one wasn't edible. I threw out a $3 donut after taking a bite. This is not a negative review about Lab Burger. Saying nothing would be negative. If I can prevent anyone from ordering these donuts, it may keep them from arriving to the same decision and possibly not ordering anything else. Yesterday, I had one of the best lunch sandwiches in a long time. My server/cashier, Josie, helped me with the order...she was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous! I ordered the "make your own" which included the following: grilled chicken, 9-grain roll, barbecue sauce (excellent taste...I think they made it...not store-bought), lettuce, and tomato. It took about 10-15 minutes to prepare...when I picked it up since I was taking it home to eat, it was packaged perfectly, with a piece of parchment/wax paper over the roll in the box...when I opened the sandwich which was hot - it was exactly how I ordered it...and the price was under $9. - wow! But, the best was the taste...delicious! The grain roll was one of the best rolls I have enjoyed! I highly recommend The Lab Burger for those of us who eat only grilled chicken...the best! Not bad! Definitely filling like some people have mentioned. We both had chicken, based on other reviews about being crispy. I had The Crispy, but not totally crispy. The bun was excellent! My wife had The Brooklyn, she really enjoyed it. The waffle as the bun is a really good idea with spicy sweet sauce. She also had the Parmesan garlic fries, but there wasn't much taste of either flavor. We will try again, to road test the burger menu. read more

Tried Lab Burger for the first time today. Had the Texas Hold'Em with fries and a Boylan black cherry soda. Brioche bun, toasted perfectly separates this from the rest of the burger places. Great start but reserving the fifth star for when Lab hits its stride. The classic burgers are top notch as are the toppings. The bun certainly stands up to a big messy sandwich. The burger cooked on a flat top had a nice crust but mgmt chooses to cook meat to 150+ so not as juicy as it could be. Kudos on the lettuce and tomato. We opted for grilled rather than raw onion but the portion of grilled onion and cheese was a bit scant. Fries were delish but soggy from spending 15 minutes or so in a closed container. Onion rings though were very crispy. Hopefully they will figure out a better order system. Can't always get through on the phone. Pricing is not cheap but quite acceptable given the quality. However, they charge for every extra and every non std sauce. All in all we are glad Lab is here. Looking forward to a return to check out the chicken and hot dogs. read more

My office decided to order burgers from here, I ordered the Tree hugger. Right before I went in for a bite of the veggie burger every corner splattered into the box, looking like guacamole and tasting like it just was pulled from the freezer. I've been a Vegetarian for 6 years and this veggie burger wasn't the worst i've ever had but it definitely wasn't the best. I was definitely disappointed and I had to order food from a different restaurant. Everyone in the entire office had a serious complaint about their order, from the chicken sandwich's tasting super bland/freezer chicken to the beef burgers being extremely undercooked. One of my coworkers had to throw the beef burger into the trash due to the burger being super under cooked, basically raw meat in the middle of the burger. Everyone agree the bread and lettuce was the only thing that tasted decent. Lab burger owns the pizza shop next door and the pizza is great. Far as Lab Burger they definitely need to take some time to go back into the lab to study and recreate better tasting burgers. read more
