Ok, it's a hot dog joint. It's been there FOREVER but I was told that it is now under new ownership. Plenty of parking and inside is clean as usual. Service was friendly. It's a deep fried dog. I get mine "all the way" which is with mustard, their chili topping and diced onions. I also got an order of fries with gravy. The hot dog is good quality and the sauce isn't bad. A little sweet for my taste. Why only 3 starts vs 5? I got this during my lunch break and ate this at my work. Zero utensils for the fries with gravy and zero napkins. Am I splitting hairs? Possibly, but trying to type while having fingers slopped with gravy is kind of a put off. Then add the messiness of the dog, which is a good thing, sauce tends to find its way on your face, table, etc. Solid food. You can eat in. A big variety of items and priced reasonably. read more

I've had family living here for years, and we have always avoided this place. But apparently, someone died and someone else took over -- and things improved. So instead of my traditional trip to a 100-year old place a few miles away, we came here. First, the place is clean and seating is plentiful. The counter service is efficient and the dude was polite. I really like that birch beer was a fountain option. (We don't get that in Texas.) Now to the food... This place uses Thumann's hot dogs, which are among the best in the free world. (Vienna Beef is better, but that's about it.) Not sure who supplies the buns, but they are average. They hold up well with toppings, which is very important, but they didn't otherwise add any qualities. I bought three dogs here, and they were all better than average. The slaw dog included cold, crispy cabbage that would make my Southern relatives proud. Other than the wonderful consistency, however, there was nothing really special about this. The mayo base was good, but had no flavor depth. As a hot dog topping, it worked. Even as a dish at a family reunion, it would likely work. Still, I've had tastier slaw dogs. The kraut dog was standard and delicious. Wonderful toppings. The chili cheese was outstanding, Nice spice and gooey American cheese, Way to go! Bottom line: These are decent hot dogs. Mine were fried almost crunchy, and the non-steamed bun did nothing to tone anything down or soften the hot dog. The fries, by the way, are served hot and crispy and made a wonderful accompaniment. This "All the way" jumbi dog had creamy chili that tasted like ketchup sparse raw unions and a trace of mustard on a regular size roll too small for the dog. Dog seemed to be deep fried and lacked taste. Unfortunately, expecting it to not disappoint, I had a plain regular dog that lacked taste. Their Gyros are very good, fresh and large. Service is fast, accurate and the staff is helpful and friendly. New management is much cleaner and newer signage is clear, clutter is gone. This is a no nonsense, basic restaurant! The ambiance is just tables and chairs! Goffle does accept credit card for payment which is very convenient. Our table of 4 got hotdogs and a hamburger. We also got Oreo milkshake!! The curry like chili was all right but nothing to write home about! It was also on the disco fries too. I have been going to goffle grill since I was a baby (I am 25 now) and unfortunately they have gone downhill with the new ownership. I visited with my husband and the grilled cheese is not what I remember and they don't add the free pickle anymore. My husbands hot dog and burger was dry and inedible. I threw out my food. Ever since the new management has taken over, this place is a husk of what made it the step-sister to Clifton's hot grill. The "sauce" formula has been 1000% changed, altered, dare I say eradicated. Even the French fries' cheese quality has also degraded. I used to come here for years. Bogos can't keep me, so this is probably my last time eating here. Not happy with this place anymore. Hot dogs are smaller and all the plastic wrap. Such a waste and so bad for the environment. Used to just be wrapped in the paper plates and kept the hotdogs and the french fries so nice and hot and crisp. Now they're all soggy. Won't be going back such a shame. read more

I've been told the Goffle Grill has been around since 1979, and they (like many other Texas wiener joints in Jersey) are serving up deep fried Thumans hot dogs the right way. My humble opinion based on my first visit... In the fiercely competitive New Jersey hotdog arena, including but not limited to: Rutt's Hut, Hiram's Roadside, John & Hanges, The Hot Grill - (the list goes on...), the Goffle Grill delivers the goods and earns respect. No idea how I ordered a Texas wiener without chopped raw onion, but I did... and like all the other errors, faults and mistakes in today's world, I'll blame my poor ordering on Covid. Long story short... this is a great lunch stop, my hotdogs were served piping hot with fresh condiments and fresh bread. And at $3.29 for a tasty cheeseburger cooked to my temperature request, it can't be beat. And no, the burger wasn't huge, but it was cooked to a medium temperature and with my addition of raw onion, I thought it was delicious. I'm definitely going to jump around the menu the next time I visit, I'm sure most all the sandwiches and sides are well worth a try. read more

I grew up going to Goffle Grill and it was always predictable. New owners bought it and changed many things. When you buy a local legendary restaurant, don't come in and change everything. The new gravy recipe is awful, nothing like the old one. The new roast beef was not fresh sliced, now it's more like steak um meat. It was so gross, I had to throw it away after trying to like it. I feel like a chapter of my life has been closed. This makes me so sad! read more

The food at The Goffle Grill is great, but I have to say that the service has been subpar. Every time I call the number is either busy or the workers don't pick up the call at all. For example, the other day I called and I dialed their number 23 times over 15 minutes because the number had a busy tone. When I arrived and asked the young lady at the counter if there was something wrong with their line--she shrugged her shoulders and deferred to another young man who made an excuse that there was another customer on hold over the last 10 minutes. Obviously that didn't make any sense because why would you have kept your customer on hold for 10 minutes tying up the one phone line you have at this place? The dogs had a good snap when you bite into them which makes it a good hot dog! I wasn't a fan of the onion rings nor the cheese fries. Kinda just tasted like some frozen stuff heated up. I would stick with just the hot dogs. The ordering seemed a little difficult. I don't think the menu says much of what you can have on the dog and the gentleman taking the order seemed to be getting a couple of our dogs mixed up. Visited this place for the first time last night with my parents and really enjoyed it. I've been familiar with the Goffle Grill all of my life since I grew up in the area but just finally managed to visit it. My reasoning for visiting may be a little unorthodox since we mainly went because we're all vegetarians and decided to try the "impossible burger" (veggie burger) since they're one of the few places to carry it in the area. We really enjoyed the burgers overall and they have good service as well. The onion rings were on the smaller side, but I also recommend the chocolate milk shake. Perfect consistency! All in all, we really enjoyed it and definitely recommend visiting whether you're a vegetarian, carnivore, or whatever else. The place is a Jersey staple! read more

Goffle Grill, however, for the money has one of the best hot dogs around and without a doubt makes the best chili you can get on your dog. I'm only taking off a star because they get my order wrong constantly. I've been eating here for years, and I literally get the same thing every single time. Chili cheese dog with onions, NO MUSTARD. Roughly 50% of the time they will either forget the cheese, or commit a war crime and put mustard on it with the chili. For the record: chili is great on a hot dog; mustard is great on a hot dog.
