If you're looking for the PERFECT place to host a private event--or just want the BEST burger, milkshake, and onion rings of your life--go to Mel's Butcher Block in Tenafly. Full stop. We recently celebrated my son's graduation here, and I can't say enough about how amazing the experience was. Mel and her sister, Gina, went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. We rented the entire place for a Friday night party with 20-25 food-loving guests, and every single one of them was raving and highly impressed - and these are foodies, (from - NYC, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Long Island, Greenwich, Philly, Chicago, Maine, Vermont, Miami, Guatemala, Romania, Israel and Egypt); all BLOWN AWAY. The food? Absolutely off the charts. - Perfectly cooked hamburgers, cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches - Creamy, fresh Caesar salad and mac & cheese - To-die-for onion rings - Killer fries and even potato skins that were a surprise hit - And the star: a jaw-dropping Tomahawk steak with my son's name and "Class of 2025" etched into the bone--an unforgettable touch. - And the milkshakes, delicious, were next level Beyond the food, Mel is simply the best. She was responsive, creative, thoughtful, and a joy to work with. She helped plan the menu, presentation, and even set up music and decorations. She made my son feel like a star, and that meant the world to us. My nieces and nephews loved the vintage pinball machines, and the whole space had the perfect energy--cozy but vibrant. Gina was outstanding too - constantly making sure everyone felt welcome, well taken care of, and was having a great time. She brought such a warmth and energy, ensuring every guest loved the food and felt special. You can tell Mel loves what she does. She's passionate, professional, warm, and deeply committed to making people happy through incredible food and a great experience. This place is a gem--whether you're planning an event or just stopping in for lunch, Mel's Butcher Block is a 10/10.

This was my first time trying Mel's Butcher box and I'll definitely be back! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a chocolate milkshake and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything was absolutely amazing!

5 star! We loved the atmosphere and the food was beyond delicious! We had the sliders and sweet potato fries. Can't wait to go back and try more delicious food! The service was fast!

My friend and I stumbled upon Mel's after our original lunch plans fell through. The service was quick and friendly. My friend ordered a cheesesteak and I got the Mel's Double with a side of mac & cheese bites. The food came out quickly and everything was very solid. My burger had a good amount of meat and it was seasoned well. The onions and sauce complimented it perfectly. The meat was juicy and it had the right amount of cheese on top. The bun wasn't my favorite but it was not bad at all. Overall a very, very solid burger. The mac and cheese bites were solid as well. Nothing mind-blowing but I definitely enjoyed. My friend was also pleased with his cheesesteak. The place is pricey but they serve quality food. I would definitely come back.

I will start with the Ambiance. This place is awesome inside!! Love the fun decor, colors, and extras! Decorated for Halloween love that! Seasonal decor is the best! Check out my pictures. Very clean too!!! You can tell the people running this place the pride in it. Love that! Service was really good and they are in a really nice location. The burger! I ordered a plain cheddar cheeseburger and the meat quality was so good! The burger was juicy and had a really good grill char taste! Love that they have different options for cheese and not just American cheese. Nice menu selection especially for sides. Not huge on fries so usually prefer tots which they had! They were really good especially the spicy mayo sauce. The burger also came with homemade chips that were thin and crispy. Pretty good and I am not a big chip fan. Oreo milkshake was decent and they give you the thick straws which is like because the cookies always get stuck in the thin straws so that's a plus in my book! I will definitely be back for more!!

I just came across this fantastic spot just 3 minutes from my house. I couldn't believe I had not noticed this place before. My wife went out for a walk and noticed it so we went for an early dinner. The service was outstanding with the staff being friendly and welcoming. We sat in a nice looking booth decorated in really nice faux hide skins, and comfortable. The Cuban sandwich was truly delicious, using pork seasoned like my Puerto Rican grandmother made it. The sandwich was served with some home made chips and we ordered some sweet potato fries too, that were crispy and delicious. I had the pastrami sandwich which was served with some fantastic tasting slaw and mustard. It was so fresh and delicious I can't wait to go back to try some other items from the menu. This place uses Pat Lafreida meats which are the best cuts money can buy. They have a couple of pinball machines in the place and the design is quite unique which I like. The place is family friendly and is a true gem for some good food. A little expensive but you get what you pay for. I'm so glad they have opened a great place to eat near my house, since I was getting bored with my choices close to home.

Best burgers in Bergen County! Mel and Gina run a fantastic business. I have lunch there a few times a month and every sandwich and burger are part of my rotation. Mel even goes as far as stocking amazing Pat LaFreida meats in her fridge and will often order me a brisket in a pinch. Shakes are worth the trip and the pretzel is insanely good.

So the gal taking the order was super friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic and way too much without an army to finish. Go hungry. Located in Teanfly downtown district this cute little shop is the perfect balance of trendy and traditional. The cheesesteak was amazing. The friend mozzarella and homemade vodka sauce what my favorite. They have happy house milkshake flavors from 3-6pm Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because it was a bit pricey. But loved the experience.

We most recently came in on a Friday night with a 6 pm reservation. Yes, we had to flag down one of the harried but cheerful women working here to place our order. But look around - there's not a white tablecloth in sight. You may have to catch someone's eye, and there's nothing wrong with that. By 6:15 pm, half of our order was on the table, and we were gleefully chomping on fried dumplings and pillowy buns. The small but clean and modern space was packed - packed with people, but also with so much happiness. Almost everyone was smiling, laughing, and joking as they tucked into this feel-good array of comfort classics. Jajangmyun, jjampong, khan poong, gochu japchae... all of these traditional dishes sang. Even a simple plate of sauteed vegetables was delicious. And everything spent just seconds between being finished in the kitchen and sitting in front of us. Is it cheap? No, nor should it be. The ingredients are of the freshest, including the seafood. The cooking couldn't be better. And this is no grimy hole in the wall. If it were a French bistro, you'd have no problem with the prices. So pay these fine folks what they deserve, and enjoy.

This isn't just another all-you-can-eat spot--it's a full, well-executed Korean BBQ and hot pot experience done right. First, the food quality is outstanding. The meats come out fresh, well-cut, and vibrant, especially the thin-sliced beef which cooks perfectly in seconds. Nothing looks frozen, dull, or rushed. The hot pot broth is rich and flavorful, not watered down, and pairs perfectly with noodles, seafood, and vegetables. Everything--from bok choy and bean sprouts to seafood like octopus--tastes clean and intentional. What really sets this place apart is the interactive experience. Cooking at the table is smooth and efficient, the equipment works properly (which matters more than people think), and nothing feels chaotic or disorganized. You're not waiting forever for refills or chasing staff down--service is attentive, fast, and professional. The atmosphere is fun but polished. Modern decor, great lighting, and even small touches like the claw machine near the entrance make it feel lively without being overwhelming. It's perfect for dates, groups, or even just treating yourself to a serious meal. Value-wise? Completely worth it. You get premium ingredients, variety, and an experience that justifies the price. This is the kind of place you leave full, satisfied, and already planning your next visit. Bottom line: KPOT Englewood sets the standard for Korean BBQ and hot pot in North Jersey. We did realize that our reservation time was in the middle of their Sunday single and mingle event which was why the DJ was present and the music was louder than the normal. When the event wrapped and the DJ left i think it turned much more pleasant in the dining with overhead music playing and we were able to talk to one another. Our waitress Jade was so wonderful. She took our order and apologized for the wait time (we didnt mind) and treated us to complimentary shots which was nice of her. I love the tablet menus especially for those of us who can see the menu without glasses, the bright tablet with nice pics of the food and drinks is a nice touch. Now lets get to the food......OMG Amazing!!!!!!!!! Literally the best soulfood i have had at a restaurant in a very very long time. I had the catfish with Mac n cheese, Yams and Greens. Every bit of it was sooo flavorful. Perfectly seasoned!! I was in heaven! The portions are huge that we took food home. My husband had the fried chicken and i usually dont like the breast meat this chicken was not dry at all!!!!! They have a nice cocktail menu and they are perfectly crafted. A bit on the pricey side but i did enjoy it! I highly recommend this establishment!!!! I am still thinking about this meal 4 days later!! I need to come back soon maybe during the week when its a bit quieter.

We got a table right away. The menu had a variety of dishes like appetizers, soups, gyro, kebabs, pasta, pizzas, seafood, wraps and sandwiches. In drinks section, they had the Turkish coffee and tea. We started with their complementary bread, so fluffy and light, we pretty ate the whole thing before any of our dishes came. I ordered my favorite fried liver cubes from the hot apps section, and it was fantastic. It was full of flavor, perfectly sized cubes and properly fried. Tasted so good with the complimentary bread (we requested a second one). For entree we ordered the Mix Grill and Karisik Izgara as it was a perfectly sharable dish for two and we got to try 5 of their kebabs that are lamb shish, ground lamb, chicken shish, ground chicken and grilled meat patties.
