Great hot dog with a bite. They have daily specials that adds variety and will have you coming back for more. The toppings are a wide variety offering anything your heart desires from cheese to chili, onions, peppers, you name it. The seating is limited but offer a fun little spot to eat and chat for a bite. Close to a 4.5, Jolly Nick's is a nice little hole in the wall for hot dogs. Decent selection of food in addition but gets a little crowded sometimes. Quality is up there but atmosphere kind of takes away from the whole experience, so maybe take your order to go. Three words: reds hot sauce. It is delicious on their hot dogs. The topping consists of onions, hot sauce and mustard. I was hesitant to try this, but my boyfriend insisted. Their dogs are also deep fried, which is extra delicious. Jolly Nick's also serves a variety of different burgers and chicken sandwiches too. Everything is very affordable, around 4 bucks for a sandwich or dog, and to make it a combo is another 2 to 3 dollars. The best part is that Jolly Nick's is owned by a family. Came in with a friend a couple months ago for the first time. The gentlemen who work here are super friendly and made our experience very well. Not to mention, the food was great with fast service. I got a chili cheese dog and a burger with fries, and both were tasty. What I absolutely love is how simple and classic the food is here. While I do enjoy an overpriced gourmet burger on occasion, there are way too many in this area and not enough of the old school burgers and dogs at a great price like Jolly Nick's has. If you love a deep fried hot dog, this is a great place. I will admit they only serve in-and-out dogs. If you like rippers or sinkers you will not be happy. The hot dogs are labeled by colors. Their are many combinations you can get, the toppings available are: mustard, raw onions, hot sauce, sauerkraut, relish, peppers, red onions (cooked onions), cheese and chili. I love the fact you can get your fries with cheese, always a plus. Also available are cheese steaks and burgers. I cannot tell you about those since that is like ordering a pasta at dairy queen. The owners are very friendly and there are daily specials. I word of warning, it is within walking distance of the local high school, so beware of surly high school students during prime lunch hours. I was pleasantly surprised on how good their hot dogs are. I didn't know what type of hot dogs they used, they use jumbo Thumanns. I was glad I got two instead of three. Three would've sent me over the edge into bloated stuffed heaven. I got mustard, chili, cheese and raw onions. I call that the litmus test. Their chili is so friggin delicious, the cheese is a cheddar spread and the rolls come from Rockland bakery. The place rocks! read more

JOLLY NICK'S WINS HANDS-DOWN. Superb food and service, and a MUCH better deal than regional fried hot-dog competitors Callahan's (formerly in Fort Lee NJ, now in Norwood NJ and Van Saun Park in Paramus and one other location) and the over-rated Hiram's (only in Fort Lee, NJ). The elderly man who works the counter/register (NOT the original Jolly Nick, who is nearly 90 years old and living in Florida) is very friendly and engaging, and his son, who does the cooking, is good with customers as well. It's a pleasure to see and talk with these guys. The hot dogs are amazing, the same as the competitors mentioned above or better. Thursday's deal is our fave: 3 dogs for $7.00. On another day they offer ten Percent off for senior citizens, and they gave my parents the discount on the whole order even though they could see that most of it was for us and our small children. Saved almost five bucks right there. Also, it costs only two bucks to add fries and a can of soda. A bottle of Yoohoo -- a Jersey original -- costs $1.50. Compare that to Hiram's at $3.25 per dog, $2.00 for Yoohoo,and $2.25 or so for an annoyingly skimpy stingy order of fries, with no discounts EVER and dirty bathrooms and sullen grunt "service". Or Callahan's at an absurd $4.25 per dog, unremarkable to indifferent customer service, and also no discounts ever. Whenever we are vacationing in North Jersey to visit family, Jolly Nick's is a must -- and definitely more than once on each trip! We're not even bothering with the ripoff artists at Hiram's or Callahan's anymore. read more
