I have passed by this place several times, and have seen a couple of reviews about it on TT. I love me a hot dog and figured I would give it a shot. Right off the bat, this place does not stack up to other greats in NNJ. The hot dogs were good, but nothing special. The fact that they chose such a thin hotdog to use was a bit disappointing. .The toppings overpower the flavor of the hot dog. First things first it's not Mike anymore and it shows Mike was great he knew how to treat his customers. Mike didn't care when u brought the hot dog cart back as long as it was by the next weekend. Plus I get it PRICES have gone up but why would u to loyal customers RAISE the price of your Hot Dog Cart???? Mike ,because we got the cart like two times a year, only charged us 40 bucks a cart but 2 years ago this new owner charged us $50 straight. NOW they want to charge $80 for the cart ...why? U don't do ANYTHING different , the carts are still the same ,there NO reason to go up on the hot dog cart charges ..You don't do anything different. Great hot dogs, fresh buns and a good selection of soft drinks. It's only counter service and take out, but the folks that work there are first class. They have some picnic tables outside if you wanna not eat in your car which makes for a fun little experience. They also have knishes, which makes them more of a NYC experience. read more

Love it! Wanted to come here for many years, finally moved to Oakland and had the opportunity. Get here as many times as you can. This place deserves the support. Small shop, no indoor seating, but possibly one of the best dogs out there. Hot sausage is wonderful too. Make sure to grab a birch beer while here! read more

Your hot dog will come not grilled. The bun will come virgin, straight from the bag. The same for the onion and relish from a plastic container. Overall, it's a hot dog you can get anywhere else and you can make better at home or down the shore on a George Foreman grill, big grill, or a microwave. On the way to ramapo to fish, this place is right off the exit ramp. Decided to grab my 'dinner'. The style of the hot dogs is New York style. Not fried. I eat different brands of dogs, and they use sabrett franks which in my opinion is a crisp outer coating. You want to eat supermarket dogs? Go buy ballparks. The place serves hot dogs as they were designed imho. Had a combo, two dogs with red onions (little tangy!) and was out the door for around five dollars. I went to this establishment for the first time. I had heard they had good hotdogs, so I gave it a try. Overall, I was not impressed. The hotdogs were very small. The attendant was not friendly and lacked customer service. My order was a "to-go" order and he handed me the hotdogs unwrapped and on a small thin paper dessert plate. No bag. Needless to say, I had to drive with them on my passenger seat and by the time I got home, they were cold. Save yourself the trip. read more

We had just finished an eight mile hike at nearby Ramapo Valley County Reservation. On our way back to 287, we passed this inviting looking place. A quick u turn. Ordered five dogs, three naked, two chili. Some fries and a Boylan's Sparkling Lemonade. The dogs were Sabrett with plenty of snap. The chili was good. Could have used a bit more kick. Fries were of the shoestring variety. Terrific. Friendly owner. Good crunch. A beautiful day. Couldn't ask for more. read more

Mike's is a place to grab some no frills dogs affordably, but you won't find much more. The best way to describe it might be as a hot dog cart with walls. You won't find condiments beyond ketchup and mustard though you can get onions and sauerkraut on your dog. The hot dogs are tasty and well cooked, but to me there's only so much difference between a well cooked and an average cooked dog. My sister and I were driving through Oakland and saw this place randomly, didn't even know it was there. Very glad we stopped though! Very friendly guy behind the counter, basic menu. Nothing special here, just a basic hot dog stand serving Sabretts with the usual toppings such as mustard, kraut, red onions etc. Fries and , soda also available but that's about it. Basically a hot dog truck without the wheels. Of course Sabrett is one of the best dogs, so it gets an extra star for that. read more

Having just moved to Oakland (though always Bergen County residents), we always see people sitting outside at this place. On a whim, we decide to stop by. I got a cheese dog and my boyfriend got the chili cheese dog with raw onions along with two kniches (deep fried potato pockets) My thoughts at the menu: weak and very standard. Almost boring. My thoughts on the cheese hot dog: sad and probably one of the smallest hot dogs I've ever seen. Thoughts on the chili cheese dog: still small but the chili was decent. I probably wouldn't have thought this place wasn't mediocre at best if the hot dogs were substantial size and if you couldn't buy the chili off of a shelf under the label "sabrett". Basically they are just cooking the food I can buy in a supermarket instead of adding any authenticity. If I'm going to spend money on a hot dog, I'd rather have it be unique and offer things on the menu I cannot recreate, like bacon beer cheese hot dogs (which I've had the pleasure of receiving at other venues).
