I could see how parking might be tough during a busy lunchtime, but we lucked out. I ordered a BLVD Ripper (foot long Windmill Dog) with chili, cheese and kraut and one of the Thumann's deep fried with kraut chili and mustard. Also shared some tots with my lunchmates. The shop itself is nice and set up for both sit-down and take out. Guy behind the counter, who I assumed was the owner, was super friendly and seemed pretty enthusiastic about his place. My take...I thought the dogs were done perfectly and the chili and kraut were delicious. I would have preferred a little more cheese on the ripper as the flavor got buried. The hot dog buns were just ok...they didn't hold up to contain the toppings, which was a little disappointing. Tots were great. My two lunchmates gave a mixed review...one loved his two dogs and the other liked the dogs, but was just so-so in the toppings and the buns. You can't please everyone I guess. Overall I had a great lunch, but it's pretty far out of our way to become a regular lunch spot for us. That said, if in the area, I would definitely stop in again!

I've heard comparisons between Marty's patties and those of Five Guys, and I can see why. They're fresh rather than frozen, and they're thin enough to approximate a smashed burger with those occasional bits of char while still maintaining enough heft that you can taste the beef. Their build-your-own burger menus are also similar, with plenty of free toppings to choose from. But I would argue that Marty's offers a fuller range of toppings from diverse cheese options to more premium ones like fried eggs, bacon, and avocado. I tried two of their signature burgers, and while the Swiss mushroom dijon was a hit with my husband (he pointed out the visible mustard seeds in the dijon sauce), the bacon avocado was the clear winner in my book. It not only had bacon that was texturally perfect (crispy and densely packed atop the patty), but also picture-ready slices of avocado. For that to come out of a fast food restaurant kitchen within a matter of minutes? Color me impressed. The banana pudding is dynamite. I'm usually neither a fan of banana nor puddings because those things combined just sound like mush. But here, the pudding is more of a whipped, airy texture, and I believe it when the lid says 'made fresh' because there were chunks of banana nestled in every bite. I admit it might not be much to look at, but I was hooked after a single spoonful (I'm actually greedily scraping the bottom of the container as I type this review). The restaurant has a diminutive dining space (I counted four two-tops at most), but it feels super cozy and casual. I took my food to go and found nothing had deteriorated - in flavor, temperature, or texture - during my drive home because everything is well packaged. There's paid street parking available, but this area of Hackensack is pretty dense so you might have to circle around for a bit before finding a spot.

The fries were nice and I enjoyed them both but I think I liked the Truffle Parmesan more--I'm a sucker for all things truffle. The poutine was surprisingly good too though. Came here with two work buddies and we were a little early so we had the place to ourselves (though a few people came in while we were there for to-go lunches). I love Thumann's dogs so I had the Cruz-Missile specialty dog with a Thumann's. Came with hot chili, spicy cooked onions, spicy mustard and pickled jalapeños. I also had a Snap-O-Razzo brand dog with chili, mustard, and kraut. We also shared fries, onion rings and the owner let us try his mozzarella sticks. I thought the Cruz-Missile would be a bit sloppy, but it was the perfect amount of toppings and as good as the toppings were, they didn't overwhelm the flavor of the dog. This was my first time tasting the Snap-O-Razzo dog and it was a home run. The flavor of the dog just popped and it's really delicious-unlike any other hot dog I've ever tasted. The fries, rings and mozzarella sticks were also delicious. Owner actually brought us out a second round of onion rings because the first ones weren't his hand battered rings and he wanted us to taste the real thing. Owner is a former police officer and the decor around the place is very first-responder friendly. We spoke with him at length about opening the place, why he uses the dogs and ingredients he uses, and some of the issues he's had. It was a great experience. I've eaten a LOT of dogs in a LOT of places in Jersey and while I'm not gonna put them at the top of my personal Top Hot Dogs list, in my opinion...it's in my top five...another trip is needed to perhaps move it up slightly.

We ordered a regular philly stacked (which is 50% more meat), and a regular chicken bacon ranch. Neither were very good. The philly tasted like they just heated up some roast beef, and the chicken bacon ranch tasted like the frozen breaded ground chicken patties you get from costco. The bread was pretty good though, so I'm thinking their hot sandwiches may not be so popular, and people probably come here more for the cold cuts. I wouldn't mind trying a cold cut sandwich in the future.
