Ohhhhhh how I love popping into Korean Rose -- seriously becoming a total community staple for me. They carry warmed-up vegan pop-tart creations from local 100% vegan bakery Houldens, which are SUCH a treat, and the herbal teas can usually be modified which I really appreciate. It's cozy, cute, and always has that feel-good energy when you walk in. But honestly? The EVENTS are what make Korean Rose a must for me. I recently went to a K-pop event there with my daughter and it was SO fun -- local small vendors, Korean culture awareness, community vibes, music, and just great energy all around. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and ordered a hot matcha latte. They asked for my preferred sweetness level and I requested 50%. The place wasn't very busy, yet it took about 15 minutes to receive my drink. Unfortunately, the matcha was grainy, lukewarm, bitter, and not sweetened as requested. I also noticed several customers who arrived after me waited around 10 minutes without being acknowledged, and they eventually left. When I walked in no one was at the counter to take my order. After standing there for a few minutes I opened and closed the front door which has a chime letting the employee in the kitchen stick her head out in acknowledgment. Apparently if you enter through the patio door they can't hear you in the kitchen. Ordered a Thai milk tea with boba. I was actually surprised to get fresh, warm and perfectly sweetened boba. I ordered my drink at 50% sweetness since their drinks run pretty sweet. Indoor seating was impossibly cold so I set outside and got some work done in their beautiful patio. Went a couple times after eating next door at Taegugki to take advantage of their discount when you show receipt. Their specialty drinks are fun and creative but very sweet and dessert-like. I personally prefer a light fruity tea so the Map of the Soul was my favorite. Though both times I've visited had very few people inside, it does look like they are very community-oriented with bulletin boards promoting lots of events and local small businesses. I love that they offer several alternative milks - almond, coconut, macadamia nut to name a few. I must be spoiled by the KBBQ from LA and Vegas but this place was not at all worth 43.99 per person for AYCE. I would have rather spent that at a steakhouse and not cook lol. The hostess didn't greet us and had no facial expressions, she asked how many and then said "sit down relax and I'll call you when ready", and walked away (guessing it was not her day). Joshua our server was new at serving and very sweet. He was doing his best at attending to all his tables but I think they were understaffed because it would take 8-12 min after asking for the next 4 proteins to receive them, by then our grill would be burning and our vent was not working to top it off so we got smoke inhalation each time we finished cooking. I almost asked for a fire extinguisher :-/ I knew I should have worn a shower cap cuz my hair was not having it lol. They ran out of regular shrimp and ice, so our refills weren't that cold. For an Asian restaurant, they DO NOT serve hot tea which is crazy. The sides were not appetizing except the potato salad and white rice (can't mess that up). Shrimp and chicken were not the best, but I will say the thin cut ribeye and the marinated short rib and sirloin were the only good things we enjoyed and luckily we all were able to get a ribeye each cuz I wasn't sharing that meat, nope! By the last ribeye (you only get 1 at a time) they had ran out so we didn't even get our last ribeye So for $200, my family ate white rice and a few meats. Definitely not returning read more

This was my first time visiting the Korean Rose, but I follow them on Instagram and one of my favorite things is that they are super community oriented. This cute boba shop is right next to a really delicious AYCE KBBQ restaurant, but they also host a myriad of community events with a focus on uplifting local small businesses and creatives. I love being able to support a business that shares the same values as me and not only do they show so much love for their community, but their drinks are good, too! They have the usual trending concoctions but they also create new ones that go viral in your mouth. No matter what kind of taste it is that you prefer, they have a drink for you to try. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. Regular black iced coffee is $6.79 after tax. I tip a dollar so we're at nearly $8 which feels more like a treat to me. Other than that, the coffee is excellent. They might want to add more tables to make it feel cozy since it's pretty sparse, but since I've been there twice in the afternoon I didn't have problems finding a place to sit. I've been to The Korean Rose a couple of times. I don't think their drinks are amazing (they use very generic boba ingredients: fruit syrup, boba pearls, different flavors of jelly), but I do think the owners are creative with the colors of the drinks and the names. The staff is always nice so I guess that makes up for the diabetes-inducing ingredients lol. I do wish the owners would look into adding more fresh fruit or healthier ingredients :) not throwing hate, because.... I get that I'm drinking boba after all. I ended up throwing it away after a few sips. My husband got a coffee smoothie, which he also threw away after a few sips. My sister in law also got old hard boba. We love Korean Rose! We've been stopping at this spacious tea shop on the east side since the day they opened. The menu of drinks is so creative and yummy, and the standard milk used in the drinks is Lactaid, so it is a lactose free base for anyone sensitive to dairy! They also offer a variety of dairy and non-dairy milk options, teas, coffee, matcha, smoothies, lemonades and some decadent dessert drinks. You can customize your drink with flavored boba or jellies, too! (The Strawberry jellies are hearts and the mango jellies are stars, and rainbow jelly is also an option!) It is a really nice place for meetings during the day, getting some work done in your computer, or just spending some time out with friends or family. The tables have so much space between them it feels so comfortable inside, and the spacious patio is the same! I love that the sweetness of the drinks are customizable (no sweetness, 25%, 50%, or 100% sweetness), as I prefer my tea unsweetened. The baristas have excellent recommendations and can accommodate their drinks to your preferences. This business is very eco-conscious, as they serve their drinks in resizable cups and have reusable drinking straw kits available for purchase! It is $6.50 and the kit includes a rainbow stainless steel boba straw that's branded with the company logo, a straw cleaning brush, and a burlap pouch in which to store it all! 5 stars for the drinks and 4 stars for the food! The Korean Rose offers tasty boba teas and specialty drinks (all in the same standard size) as well as coffee drinks (hot and iced). Though the website says no food at this Tucson location, they have a food menu you can order from in store as well as a pastry display from a local baker. For the boba teas, you can adjust the sweetness level which I appreciate, but note that you don't have that option for the specialty drinks! I had a peach black tea with boba at 50% sweetness which was just right as I prefer not so sweet boba drinks; the boba was soft and chewy - not hard at all. My husband had one of their specialties, the POG (a passion fruit, orange, guava drink with passion fruit jelly and basil seeds) which he found really refreshing. As for food, we had the chicken tender bites which had a nice hint of sweet coconut flavor and were easy to eat and share, and also had the garlic parmesan fries which were average. Korean rose is a great place to get your boba fix! During Covid times they are only offering take out, but they do have a pretty spacious indoor and outdoor area. There is also a Korean BBQ place being built next door. Good to have food options with your boba so I'm excited for that place to open. The drinks are pretty darn good. Their signature Korean Rose drink is refreshing and a gorgeous ombré. It reminds me of a decked out Starbucks refresher. The mango slushy with added boba was also delicious. It was sweet, blended well, and the boba was really good. The pearls were perfectly chewy and sweet. Just wish there was more, especially since it costs extra and the cups are so big! My sig other had the strawberry cheesecake and really liked it. It's super rich and creamy with a slight cream cheese tang. If you want a dessert-like drink and don't know what to get, go for the cheesecake specials! They also offer plant based substitutes for some of their products, so definitely ask for those. Overall, Korean Rose has great boba and creative drinks that deliver in flavor. Be prepared to pay up though. There's only one size and the drinks are about $5-6 before adding boba. And if you want a non dairy substitute or extra add ins on top of that, you're looking at a pretty expensive beverage. For me, it's perfect for a treat, but it won't be a regular habit. read more

I happened to be on the east side today, so I finally made my first visit to The Korean Rose. I got one of their "K-POP" specials: "Map of the Soul." What an excellent drink! It's a combination of pineapple and guava white peach green tea and butterfly pea tea with lychee jelly. When it's first served, the teas and jelly are beautifully layered, and then you're meant to shake it up to mix the elements together before drinking. It was great! It's very, very sweet -- right on the edge of being too sweet without tipping over. Think of it as a refreshing post-meal dessert drink. Ditto for my friend's drink, another K-POP special called "Shmang." This one is a nutella milk tea with taro cream. It's rich, almost decadent, like a thin milkshake. We enjoyed our drinks and I definitely plan to sample more of their unique specialty drinks! read more
