The vibe: The moment we walked in, we were OBSESSED. Orange accents everywhere, the cutest uplifting quotes, and a space that is immaculately clean. You can genuinely tell how much care and love goes into this location -- the employees love it here, and that energy is contagious. The staff: Beyond kind. Truly. We're visiting from Oregon, and from the second we walked through the door we were greeted with big smiles and a cheerful "Hey, welcome in!" Instant mood booster. Every single person was warm, affable, and clearly proud of the sweet and savory magic they're creating. The kolaches (the main event ): We're a savory family, so we ordered a half dozen savory kolaches... and immediately regretted not getting the full dozen. Every. Single. One. Was. Perfect. The dough deserves its own shoutout -- fluffy, soft, and lightly sweet without being overpowering. I enjoyed the kolache at kolache cafe. I never heard of a kolache before. When I heard it was a pastry, I thought it would be like a doughnut. I thought it was more like a bagel in flavor and texture. It was not greasy. I thought it seemed baked. There wasn't much flavor to the bagel portion as would be expected. The dollop of jelly on top seemed small. I would have wanted more jelly. I would actually prefer to be able to put the amount of jelly that I would like on top of it from a jar or a container at the store. Otherwise, I will have to get it back home top off the kolache bagel with more jelly or other topping. I felt the same about the bbq buns and the meat inside. I think I could add more at home. I don't even know where to start because... everything about this experience went wrong. First, the ordering situation is a piping hot mess. The line to order is confusing, there are a lot of employees standing around, and somehow it still takes forever to actually place and complete an order. No one seemed to know what was going on. The person I'm pretty sure was the manager looked especially overwhelmed and seemed to be figuring things out in real time, which slowed everything down even more. Then there's the food prep. They microwave the kolaches. In a restaurant. Not a food truck, not a tent at a farmer's market... an actual building. I've had a microwaved kolache once before at a market and gave it a pass because, you know, limitations. This place has the ability to oven bake and still chooses chaos. I ordered one savory and one sweet kolache, and they were microwaved together, which resulted in filling from one leaking onto the other. So that was already not great. But the absolute worst part: I ate one whole kolache, took a bite of the second one, and found a hair. A short, curly hair. Baked into the kolache. I brought it up to the manager, which somehow made him even more flustered. He offered to get me a new one (hard pass), so I declined and went back to my table, trying to process what had just happened. A few minutes later, he came over and asked, "Is there anything I can do for you? I'm so sorry." Which... I'm sorry, but why am I being asked to troubleshoot this situation? I don't work here. I just found hair baked into my food. Between the confusion, the microwaved everything, and the literal hair in my meal, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Do yourself a favor and get a cinnamon roll! I was skeptical at first because they are only $3.75 - are they really as big as advertised, how big is it really, etc. ... all doubts eradicated. This is huge! And super fluffy. Would highly recommend. As for the place, its located in a rundown plaza but the place itself was nice and clean. I've lived in the neighborhood since this place opened and was honestly really excited to try it. Unfortunately, my experience has been consistently disappointing. The first time I visited, I was served a soggy, mushy, lukewarm kolache in what felt like a cafeteria-style tray. I figured it might just be an off day, so I gave it another shot--but nothing has improved. On my second visit, I went around 11:00 AM and they were already out of most of their options, which is frustrating for a place that specializes in such a limited menu. The service was mediocre at best and didn't make up for the lack of quality or selection. It's disappointing to see a spot with so much potential fall so short. I like kolaches and even though this place it not really close to my house, I will sometimes make the trip early in the morning to pick them up. Early because that's when the best selection is available. I prefer the sweet items and lean towards the cheesecake/custard with fruit options. They're not overly sweet except for the chocolate Bavarian cream one, which I found way too much. In general, I have found that the balance of filling to bread is good, though with the fruit only options, I usually want just a little more (practically, I don't think much more would fit without spilling out, but that's why I lean towards the ones that are fortified with custard or cheesecake). This time, I tried the big cinnamon roll. It was good, but not fantastic. I do like my cinnamon rolls with a high filling-to-bread ratio -- and maybe even unnaturally so. Their coffee is hot and pretty good as well, though I wouldn't come here just for the coffee. (I drink my coffee black or with a little cream, so if that helps you evaluate my rating, there you have it!) Service is consistently great and I have never been there when the people behind the counter weren't all smiles, friendly and willing to make suggestions. I was disappointed that I arrived at 7:30 and was told there was a 30 min wait for the Italian sausage and gravy. However that means it must be that good! I ordered the smoked sausage and cheese, sausage egg and cheese, and the blueberry cheesecake. I could eat the smoked sausage and cheese all day long! It was sooo good! For starters, Madison was amazing! Very knowledgeable and informative about the menu and also the allllllllll the flavor options and combinations. When you walk in the facility is so clean both in cleanliness but also in decor. The kolaches are lined up beautifully in a perfect display of all flavors and with all the fruit options, create a very exciting palette! Starting with the Bavarian chocolate, I didn't think the savory Bacon, egg and cheese would even begin to impress me, but I was sooooo wrong! The savory kolache was wrapped in a very subtlety sweet dough and baked perfectly to create a dry exterior with a flavorful moist center of breakfast. SO GOOD. This place is freaking amazing. The food is so yummy. I am not a pastry person and I didn't know what a Kolache was until my friend introduced me but I could not be happier. The Kolaches remind me of a cross between a hot pocket and a hawaiian roll, I have tried a few but chicken and cheese and the pizza Kolaches have to be my favorite. The service here is excellent, the curly blonde was very knowledgeable and helpful!!!! Not to mention, the cafe is so cute inside. WILL BE BACK!!! read more

This is such a fun little breakfast stop. We ordered the brisket and mashed potato and it was delicious. The pecan one was also so yummy. You can ask for it warmed up which I recommend! Some flavors do sell out so make sure you come in earlier. The inside was so cute and they have fun signs around. I will be back as the people working were also so friendly! read more

Came for the Grand Opening on Feb 16, 2025. They were offering 15% off and free coffee, based on their Instagram post, but you had to mentioned it instead of just giving it to you. I was really disappointed and will not be coming back. 1. Layout - the line was super confusing and people didn't know if they needed to wait at the counter after they ordered but it just caused congestion and the staff continued to take orders. 2. Service - when I ordered I mentioned the free coffee and the staff told me it was one per purchase, which was fine. I needed to share the Instagram post and received the coffee. I paid, then realized that I didn't get the 15% off. When I asked, the staff mentioned that I had to mention the offer and had to choose between the coffee or 15% off. It was not clear on the post and the staff did not mention anything. See Instagram post attached. Terms should be clear to the customer. After I mentioned this, the staff said I had already paid so there was nothing she could do. Poor service experience. 3. Food - underwhelming. Lots of bread vs. filling. Taste is nothing special. They heat up the box but it wasn't very hot despite eating in store. Coffee was basic. You add your own sugar and milk. Staff should ask if you want room in the cup... 4. Lived in the Texas Hill country for a couple years about 10 years ago. Was excited to see the Kolache Café on a visit to AZ, now that I'm living in CA. Finally made it in on my last day in town, and was distressed to find that at 10 AM on a Monday the stock was very low, although they offered many flavors. Went in specifically for sausage and cheese (as that's what a kolache is to me, although hubby prefers the ones with the jalapeños.) Unfortunately, they were sold out, as it is their most popular. They only had three jalapeño, they had no ham egg and cheese, which according to the girl helping me, was their second most popular. Although I was only trying to order one, she told me that they were telling clients to pre-order if they wanted sausage and cheese that they were the most popular, and they often ran out quickly because somebody would come in and buy a half dozen. While I was standing there a lady came out from the back with a couple of dozen, but no sausage and cheese. The girl then told me that it would be 20 minutes until they had more. When you have to tell somebody that they have to pre-order a single of their most popular item, that's not a customer problem, that is an inventory problem. Would've liked to have tried, but I can't eat what they don't have to sell. I know the location is new, and I hope they fix their inventory issues. read more

Good Kolaches, bad service. I've driven through this a couple times now and ordered a few different Kolache, which have been pretty tasty. Although the food is good, the service people are not friendly and the Kolache is just in a bag all by itself; no napkins, no condiments, nothing....and their attitude isn't great. If Kolache Cafe improved their service and presentation, I would probably stop by more often. read more

I've driven by this place so many times and they decided to go in with my friend for lunch today. The only vegetarian options were eggs and potatoes like a breakfast burrito. That seems very strange to me. I ordered both options and we had a lemon pastry as well as a cheesecake coconut. The cheesecake coconut was delicious.. The lemon was just lemon out of a can.. the bread used in sandwiches and sweets. It just has no taste. There wasn't a salt shaker on a table and the thing they're missing mostly is dips. Why don't you have some sort of dipping sauces? Basically it was so boring. Tasteless and I won't go back.. probably why there wasn't one other person in the restaurant. I got ham egg and cheese. It was cold so didn't enjoy it much. She ordered the southwest but she got meatball. Nothing special. The sweet ones had not much fruit toppings and nothing inside. My mom has made Kolaches forever. I like them a lot. This place is next level. I got a dozen last week. half savory, have fruit. I ended up only getting to eat half of a raspberry. Extremely picky family ate all the rest. About the same price as any local donut shop, but they are much better than a donut. The service was fantastic and quick. And it was a place where you could feel comfortable to sit down and enjoy some coffee and a kolache. It's definitely my new breakfast place. Or lunch. read more

This place is Awesome. Abby is the best. Great personality, and greets everyone with a smile. I'm originally from Texas and know Kolaches but I now live in Oregon and they don't know what Kolaches are. We come here and stay from January-April before going back home. I researched and found this place and as soon as we got down here this was my first stop the very next day. I make 2-3 kolache runs a week bringing them back to my friends.
