If you want a quick treat Andy's is a great stop off the road. The custard was yummy and exactly what I wanted in the HOT Arizona fall. The banana split was so big! With hot fudge it was perfect. They didn't give me whipped cream though... Our service through the drive through was quick! Loved their quickness. Disappointed as...in this day and age where everyone is lactose or allergic to ice cream, that this establishment does not provide non dairy, gluten free, oat milk or soy products nor do they have Gelato. I mean, it's a great place to go for ice cream and shakes but since choices are null for us who need any of the listed. This is not the place for us unfortunately! The gentlemen in the drive thru who was taking orders was so sweet though. I took his name but sadly, I didn't write it down, but he was awesome and deserved a raise for having sympathy for my request. Whelp, if you're a normal human who can have dairy... this is your spot folks! The only thing that is Vegan friendly is Zarlengo's Italian Ice which is pretty refreshing. I drove by and noticed a new business. I decided to turn around and check it out. I have never heard of Andy's Frozen Custard. I was told there is also a location in Mesa. The menu is extensive. They only have vanilla and chocolate custard base flavors available. I ordered a chocolate mixed with peanut butter mixed in. It was really good. I had a difficult time deciding because there were so many options. I would probably order something more extravagant next time. There is a drive through, as well as window/counter service. I paid $8 for a melted sloppy dripping banana split. I waited until I got home to open it and this is what it looked like. The man that served it me had on a very dirty apron. Strange policy for ordering custards. Went with my wife who order some cherry infused frozen yogurt in a fairly good-sized container. I only want a single scoop, I am trying to reduce my intake of sweets, so I ordered a single scoop of the cherry infused stuff. Nope, I was told I couldn't get that in in a single scoop and the young lady dutifully pointed out all the other larger sizes. I relied okay, then I guess I totally missed the point, so I naively asked for a single scoop of butter pecan. Nope, you cannot get that either I was told. So, I asked the key question, what can I get a single scoop of? Vanilla and chocolate...not even a nod to strawberry was the reply. We have been here multiple times now. The custard is always delicious. My frustration is the staff. I have always gotten the same thing - a small chocolate custard waffle cone. Today I was asked how many scoops, and I said whatever the small comes with (as I have gotten it multiple times before), and I was given and charged for a child's cone. The waffle cone is huge and literally the tiniest amount of custard was in it. The line was too long for me to ask for a correction. The concretes are so thick and dense, one could easily make a meal out of it. Also, a small is big enough to share with two people. Flavor profile similar to Freddy's or Culver's, all of which are really good. I like Andy's a little more as they have lots of combinations and you can add/remove any topping you'd like. Went to the drive thru on a Sunday afternoon and the drive thru line moved quick. Pro tip: There are a couple full size menu boards in the drive thru line, but you order at the window. Even with the signs saying "order at the window," first timers are often just waiting for a speaker box to come on. read more

The custard here is delicious but their ordering process leaves a lot to be desired. They should have one window to order and one window to pick up (for walk ups) but Instead they do both from one window, which isn't fun for anyone. They should also have order numbers instead of calling out the item because a lot of people order duplicate items. Why not just call out number 56 instead of the James brownie, which 5 people waiting for ice cream ordered? System doesn't make sense and seems like an easy fix. My only other complaint is their only non dairy option is a sad $3 ice stick with flavor. I can't have dairy (not my choice) and I can't ever get anything there, but my husband loves it. read more
