They have a decent menu and I love how many dishes they have for brunch. Service has always been great, I've never had a bad experience. There's a huge outdoor seating and it's great for big groups. Good usually comes out promptly so I've never had to wait too long even when it's busy. Pros: the portions are huge, I can easily share with another person and still have leftovers. I love their pancakes and French toast. Their lunch and dinner options are great too. Cons: parking can be hard to find (street parking). There's also parking garages near by.

The server said the chicken fried steak was really good, so that was my choice. I thought that I would also enjoy the pork sausage gravy served on top of it since I love biscuit and gravy. I was quite disappointed in my choice because the steak as very tough, and dry, like it was not made in-house but probably frozen, and deep fried in house. The generous serving of gravy on top was lacking any flavor and was on the pasty side, so it didn't help the steak in any way. My toast was cold, which was not too much an issue, but the hardness of the toast was like day old left over toast. I told the server the steak was pretty tough but he chose to ignore my comment twice. I did like the potatoes, which were nice and crispy, but if anything, would've like a fresher piece of toast. One of our guest gave me her butter and that did not spread well on the hard toast. I took the steak home, and heated it a little because I was still hungry, but after one bite, I just tossed it. Just wasn't good. The guest next to me did order the omelette, and her omelette did look very good. I was just unhappy with my meal, for the price, which would've been worth it, if it were good.

It's a bit noisy inside due to the small room but tolerable, they also have some tables set up outside which is great for people watching. Sadly the Egg Benedict was sold out by the time we went at about 12pm. We got Croissant egg sandwich and ménage a trois (with buttermilk pancake and sausage), house orange juice and salted caramel latte. Food was delicious, and the perfect portion: the croissant sandwich was light, fresh and had the perfect amount of seasoning. The buttermilk pancake literally melts in your mouth. Orange juice is with pulp and sweet. And the coffee was a warm/hot with the perfect amount of sweetness with no burnt taste. Will definitely try to go earlier for the Egg Benedict and try their other bakery items.

IE: Huge paintings of caricature like dogs in fluorescent colors, dreadful landscapes and yarn owls. Also, the antique capital of Northern California, yawn. (money laundering?) A lot of really nice boutique type shops with fine products and a brand new record store, Paradise Found which is quite fantastic. It is also an oasis with goo-gobs of creative talent and cool people you will find. Ranchers, farmers, construction workers, normal hard-working folk, authors, athletes, chefs, sound engineers, sculptors, craftspeople, photographers, and inventors. A full cast of interesting characters. The home of the world's ugly dog contest (I tend to stay away during this event to avoid becoming a contestant) and wrist wrestling championship. Once famous for being the egg capital of the world. I once heard this conversation in a bar, "Hey Steve remember when we got paid to inseminate chickens when we were on acid?" Steve: "Those were chickens?" Sam Shepard would've had a field day here. Some newer buildings made to look old with crafted Styrofoam façades. You get the feeling you're on a movie set, which it has been on several occasions. I lived here for a number of years, a bit of a Peyton Place aura. Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more. Some of my favorite people I've met in the last 30 years hale from here. And, a disappropriated amount have left this earth too soon. One of the best foodie destinations north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Superb coffee shops and bakeries, some award-winning. So, back in 1999 I took a wrong turn off the freeway and discovered Petaluma and the first place I went was the "Tea Room" and it's still pretty much as awesome as it was then. A real nice vibe, nicely decorated with some incredible pastries to include the orange cranberry scone as I recall, sold out today. My breakfast today was quite good with the walnut toast, and a huge portion of very large potatoes that could've been cut into smaller pieces and maybe I only needed one third of the portion. Dem tatters were 'nuff for four people. Great atmosphere, nice friendly staff, and a very pleasant ambience. There's mirrored signage that says TEA mounted high on the wall across from one another so as to appear as if it were a reflection. I personally can also see the word EAT in there every time I glance at it. I was told years ago that it came from an old Texaco gas station sign. It makes sense, check it out. On Western Avenue. I used to tell folks it's across from the pink Catholic Church rectory. That's been painted to a rather unattractive conservation brown. A lot of nice outdoor seating and cool shops nearby, check out next-door thrift shop and the ever remarkable Petaluma market around the corner, with superb produce display! Famous for cheese, wine, cider, breweries and happy cows! If you're coming from the south cut over through Fairfax to Olema and take the back road up to Petaluma which is a stunning drive!

The backyard seating is also lovely with all their plants and shaded spots. We had their Turkish eggs, duck breast sandwich and the Shrimp toast appetizer. Everything was amazing. The service was pretty good, seated fast, pretty attentive with all the tables they had to serve. We ordered a traditional caramel macchiato (it is nothing like a Carmel macchiato that you are thinking of) and a matcha latte. They were pretty but lacking flavor. The Mach was very bitter, but I am sure that's the traditional version in a little bitty shot like glass -not my fave but I was trying to order stuff i wouldn't normally get. ‍ the matcha came in a giant mug, and it wasn't sweet at all and just kinda of plain. For food, we ordered the wagyu steak and eggs. It came with some interesting garlic herby potatoes, a piece of sourdough cut in half, scrambled eggs, 6 slim slices of beef and a little jam of some sort. We also asked for a side of their house made chili crunch. The steak was mediocre, the potatoes tasted a little weird. We enjoyed the bread and eggs the most. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. I'd come back and try other items. It is a very cute location.

We reviewed many menus on our walk about and decided to circle back to KINSmoke! Whitney, our server, was the best! Very hospitable, disarming, and charming. The ambiance was super casual but clean and tidy, exactly the kind of vibe we were looking for. The food was excellent! Together we split a steak sando and fries, plenty filling for the both of us. We're looking forward to trying more menu items the next time we are visiting. If we lived a bit closer, this would definitely be our local haunt! Highly recommend giving this gem a shot, we will be singing their praises for a while

It took a good 15-20 minutes for the food to come out but it was good! Great place for big groups. This little downtown area is so cute and quaint. Pork shoulder pulled pork: 3/5 very fatty and not as much flavor as the brisket. Chicken: 3/5 a bit too dry for me but others in my party enjoyed it. Pork belly burnt ends: 4/5 good but fatty and sweet. Horseradish slaw: 4/5 could use more horseradish flavor but refreshing as is. Cornbread: 5/5 excellent! And that side butter was sooo good! Liked the crispy edges. Mac n cheese: 3/5 ok shell shaped Baked beans: not a fan or baked beans so no comment. Potato salad: 3/5 ok nothing memorable about this. Fries: 4/5 good Sweet potato tater tots: 5/5 these were better than the fries.

Unfortunately, I didn't get our waitress's name, but she was incredibly attentive and accommodating. She graciously allowed us to substitute side dishes that weren't normally interchangeable on the menu, such as replacing hash browns with mashed potatoes and gravy. This restaurant might become one of my new go-to's for early AM excursions to nearby Graton…read moreResort-Casino. That's because the casino has very limited early AM food offerings open this time of day. I was one of the few patrons dining breakfast here on an early Tuesday morning. My entree was the Bear's Choice breakfast, which is likely among their best selling breakfast options. 2 eggs, 2 sausage links & 2 buttermilk pancakes. Price-to-portion value with this entree @ $16.99 is ok, but, there's other diners and deals out there with a little better value imho. And regrettably, Black Bear oddly doesn't have any kind of rewards or frequent customer program. Which could boost more frequent patronage, despite their noticeably higher prices over other chains. I'm still not entirely accustomed yet to shelling out $20+ to $30 (including beverage, tax & tip) for your very basic sit-down breakfast. That's inflation-gate for ya' I suppose? And it's good to know at least that the restaurant is sandwiched on both sides by fast food staples Burger King & Jack in the Box. In case I ever balk last moment on Black Bear, lol. The food and little service required for my solo visit was fine. The restaurant's about a 5-7 minute easy drive to & from the Graton Resort, without having to get back on the busy 101 freeway. Which is another plus.
