First impression was deceiving. Upon first view (see pics) We thought this would be a great breakfast! Ordered banana french toast with side of bacon (asked for crispy as i loathe bacon that is cooked any other way) and a western omelet with tomato added. Pros: portions were huge; sauce on french toast was delicious Cons: bacon "looked" crispy but it was only that way on half. Most of it was undercooked with chewy texture and therefore was inedible. Asked for tomatoes in the omelet...see pic. That tiny thing was the only one included in the omelet. Sausage inside of omelet was still raw inside. INEDIBLE. It ended up being tossed. French toast was very bland and had no flavor on its own. I see why it needed the sauce. I wont get food from here again.

We much rather spend our money at local family owned businesses. We live pretty close and I recently read about this place so we had to give it a try. My husband had the Sausage Gravy Biscuit Breakfast. He said it was good. Crumbled sausage would have been better than cut up links and it was lacking just a bit in flavor. The biscuits were very good. I had the Bagel Cooks Sandwich. It has avocado, cream cheese, a hard cooked egg and sausage. It was really really tasty. The bald guy cooking was a hoot. Very welcoming and very friendly. We will for sure come back.

Delicious pancakes!

SO TASTY! And a great deal. The interior design is great and the service was excellent :)

The inside of my panini.

I don't know where to start. This is our second trip in but this time our experience was totally opposite our first. There was a staff of one. She did it all. I ordered the Very Veggie Panini which was arugula, tomato, red onion, cucumber and avocado with a basil pesto spread on italian. A strong white onion was used and there was no cucumber or avocado. I expected it to be pressed and warm but was told this is the way they make theirs. My husband ordered the Big BLT which had a significant amount of bacon on it but very little mayo and the half he brought home had a tomato the size of a fifty cent piece. The table we were sat at must have been occupied by a child before us as floor was filthy. A 12 ounce beverage is $2.85 but we were asked if we wanted a refill so I am assuming they are free flowing. This is my last review for this place as I will not be back, nor will I recommend it.

Plains special

Another great visit! Finally tried the stuffed French toast and it was so good! Thick slices of French toast with a layer of marscapone and fresh raspberries and blueberries in the middle and on top. Its so nice to see quality fresh ingredients like this. My daughter and I went on a Wednesday morning and took advantage of the weekday early specials by ordering the Plains Special (2 eggs, two thick slices of toast made from fresh real bread, rosemary potatoes and a cup of coffee for less than $4). The food was ready quickly, everything was hot and delicious and service from the waitress was friendly and efficient. It was nice to have the chef ask how we enjoyed the meal...its a nice touch to know they care about the guest's experience.

Special of the day: Cassata Cakes, Rosemary Potatoes, Cup of Fresh Fruit, Red Velvet Pancake

Way too pricey. Western omelette $9.50, 2 pieces of toast $1.75, 4 oz. Orange juice $4.50. $15.75 total.

I also asked for a lemon wedge, not a slice, since you can't squeeze a slice. Next came our espresso martinis, one for each of us. We actually felt the bang for our buck -- strong, well-balanced, and worth every penny. For our appetizer, we shared the gluten-free BBT meatballs. It was delightful. Then our Cobb salads arrived, each with shrimp added. We requested a side of extra-virgin olive oil -- not a blend -- and the kitchen got it right. For dessert, we shared the cheesecake, minus the graham cracker crust because my friend is gluten-free. I would have preferred the kitchen plate it for sharing and provide dessert silverware with it, instead of us having to flag someone down. I'm also industrial seed oil free, and Hailey was attentive to both of our dietary needs throughout. The manager, Chris Nichols, stopped by to check in and ensure we were satisfied -- a clear sign the restaurant is customer centric. I actually thought Chris was the GM. Kudos to the general manager, Ben Lano, for inspiring great teamwork. Lastly, I give the ambience four stars, simply because we don't have a Michelin-starred restaurant in Ohio.

I found that a bit frustrating. I should've just canceled my reservation right then and said I wanted to be a walk-in. But our server, Heather was excellent. We wanted to take photos from our room to the outside since the lake was the view we were paying for, but the windows/screens were so dirty that we couldn't even take a clear photo. When we opened the window to get some fresh air inside, the window sill was disgusting. We felt that with the lake view being what would make this room desirable, the windows should be clean at the very least. After we settled in we had drinks on the patio. The setting was lovely and we enjoyed the cocktails. We had checked a couple sources online regarding the in-house restaurant and it looked higher end to us. We felt that this would be a good choice for our anniversary celebration. We had 7:15 dinner reservations and we were seated right away. We ordered the shrimp appetizer and it was very good, however, our forks were removed with our appetizer plates. Next, we had soup which was good but cold. After we barely started our soup, our entree was delivered. We still had no forks and it took a while before we could get the attention of our server, but we were able to flag down a different server who brought us forks. My husband had the burger and it was average. I ordered the BLT spaghetti and it was probably the worst meal I have ever been served. It was cold, probably because of the wait for our silverware, the sauce was watery and the pasta was awful. I'm not sure what the chef did to the pancetta, but it was like no pancetta I have ever experienced. It is so embarrassing to complain about a meal and send it back, and we just never do that. But this was so bad that I couldn't bring myself to eat it. Once my husband was almost done with his meal, our server noticed that I did not eat mine. We politely told her the issues and she kindly offered to bring me a replacement meal. But honestly, at that point my husband was just about done eating so it really didn't make sense. We were credited for the meal on our check. We had read via text that if we needed ice or wanted to inquire about a late check out, that we could call or text. There was no phone in our room and we did text, a couple times, and never got a response. So no ice, no late check out. We brought our phone chargers and plugged them in before bed so we would have a full charge by the morning. Apparently the plug next to the bed was dead. We moved the charger to the plug near the TV, which was also dead. So our phones did not get charged fully before we checked out. The TV volume was not operable, we assumed it was intentional to keep the volume low between rooms. But with the window open we could not hear the TV at all. Since check out was at 11:00 am and breakfast was only served until 10:30, we didn't make it up and out in time to be able to take advantage of that. We didn't really want to set our alarm in the morning on our anniversary celebration. We had looked forward to sleeping in a bit. Upon booking our room, at check in and also as we were seated for dinner we were asked if we were celebrating something special. We let each know that we were celebrating our anniversary. Odd that we didn't even receive a "Happy Anniversary" note in our room. We travel often and feel that this was not the experience that we should have received for the price and location. All this being said, we did respond to the feedback request from Vincent Michael Wine and they responded to us immediately. Basically they acknowledged our concerns and will share them with the staff. We hope that others will have a better experience than we did! This may be a nice place to stop in for wine tasting in a beautiful setting but we would never spend the $500+ per night for the overnight stay.

My wife and I went for a Sunday drive and had absolutely no intention of going out to dinner…read morehowever we were looking for a good patio. Auntie Yelp and within a few miles we found the Westfield inn in Troy township Ohio I've never been to either. Apparently it used to be an inn a long long time ago but it ceased being that and currently has clambakes in the fall and looks like the place next door is part of it and also has a wedding venue. It has a nice front porch that was decorated for the season moms and pumpkins and corn stalks and whatnot so it was pretty festive. We got there earlier about 5:00 which is pretty early for us for dinner but lucky for us the place wasn't that busy there was quite a few people inside but not many people sat outside because the honey bees tend to buzz a little close for some people's comfort. I don't mind them at all as long as you don't squat at them everything is good. Our server was the bartender who came outside his name was Alex and he was an absolute peach. He started us off after we got our drinks with dinner rolls and two cinnamon rolls which was an odd pairing for a pre-dinner snack but it was delicious. I ended up getting some tomato bisque soup which I'm an absolute sucker for and it was fan freaking tastic. A+++ Definitely it's comfort food season and this menu supported that. Now normally I make pot roast but I'm not very good at it and my pot roast is normally fatty but this pot roast came out absolutely fell apart on my fork. The carrots were perfect and the mashed potatoes was not lumpy my perfect consistency I told my wife if you want to learn how to make pot roast come cook here. She got the beef and mushroom pot pie now I'm a big fan of pot pie but I do not like mushrooms but she managed to absolutely inhale that and she gave it two thumbs up. We had an ample time for a nice little chat our server Alex was on the spot wasn't too present but wasn't gone too long for us to not notice. Service was also A+. We live in lake county and don't get down to Troy township at all but now I have an absolute reason and excuse to get down there and I will be bringing friends. What a fantastic meal what a lovely place and I can't wait for my next visit.

Well we drove out to River St. in Grand River in NE Ohio. On a heavily commercial road in an older neighborhood there it was, "Sammy's Family Restaurant". An older building with parking on both sides and around the back. So we parked and went inside. At the front door we were greeted by a sign that said, "Seat yourself at a clean table". As we wandered over to a nice location we noticed small, laminate cards on the tables that read "CLEAN". So we sat, and when the waitress came over she picked up our sign... quaint and efficient. We wandered through an extensive menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. It had everything you could possibly want. Really, the choices were 5 pages long. So I ordered a kosher dog with kraut and fresh cut fries. My wife had a cheeseburger with fries as well. Both were large, perfectly prepared and the fries were amazing. It was almost more than we could eat. But, we had to try the rice pudding I saw on the menu. We ordered coffee and a rice pudding to share. The pudding was awesome! It was clearly home made. So, as we were preparing to crawl out of the place because we were so full. The waitress brought us the check. I think my eyes almost popped out of my head. It had a grand total of only $25.00. I looked at it twice and showed my wife. We couldn't believe that excellent experience only cost us $25.00. I told the cashier what a wonderful surprise her place was and we would definitely be back. You should definitely go too.

What makes Scratch's French toast so good is that they don't use plain old white bread for it. Instead, they use sweet bread pudding, which makes for an utterly decadent and delicious breakfast. The pieces of bread pudding had crisp edges while being soft on the inside. They were topped with sliced bananas and a rich bourbon caramel sauce, and served with maple syrup infused whipped cream that was almost practically ice cream. The French toast also comes with your choice of sausage or pork belly. I opted for the sausage patties, which were tasty and homemade. I also ordered the orange juice ($4.50) and home fries ($3.75). The home fries were delicious. Crispy potato chunks that were the right amount of salty. Between the French toast and home fries, I left stuffed. Service was also great. This is a huge portion and can easily be shared by two people!
