This is the third time for us.. the first two times the food was great. This time our little waitress was wonderful, our service was great! However the woman delivering our food treated us as if we were an inconvenience, our breakfast potatoes were over cooked so much that we couldn't even eat them, the eggs were under cooked..runny whites, we all ordered over medium! One of the breakfast was supposed to have blueberry pancakes, they were plain and rubbery.. and so many flies.. I was so disappointed and embarrassed, we drove up from Denver with family here from Nova Scotia.. bragging how wonderful this little place was! I believe this will be the last time for us.. A little overpriced for what you get, but I love the cute old fashioned interior and concept. The fact that they have their own farm where they grow much of their produce is comforting, and the food is delicious, every time, pretty great coffee too. We had a party of 10 show up late morning on a Sunday and everyone was really helpful in getting us situated. I love the set up of the restaurant with the textured walls, great flow, and unique decorations. There were also a lot of fun nooks and crannies for 1-2 seaters that would make a meal solo or with a friend that much more intimate. The food was good, nothing too special. The chicken wrap I got had very little chicken, but still tasted great because it was made well. The fries on the side of the burgers and wraps were stand out. The brunch items (corned beef hash and eggs, veggie scramble) were similar in rating - fine, but nothing spectacular. The line outside the door for the 8 am opening was at least 20 people. A charming interior, delightful staff, and a diversity of food offerings had me sold on the place before we started. There's a variety of " scramblettes" -- scrambled eggs with tasty mix-ins. I had spinach served with crispy-on-the-outside and soft-on-the-inside home fries, and a delicious biscuit that was just too small because it was delicious. It was a gorgeous day, so we didn't mind the 40 minute wait to be seated. Little did we know that the wait for our food would be even longer. We took the opportunity during our wait for the food to observe the dirty floors and sticky seats, the absolutely filthy bathrooms that had flies buzzing around the wet gobs of toilet paper on the floor, and the absence of staff who seemed to be crowded into the kitchen giggling with each other. When our food finally appeared (and our water glasses were finally refilled) after 45 minutes, it was a true disappointment. The fries were cooked in oil that was not hot enough, resulting in a greasy pile of limp starch. The sandwich had no flavor but excess sauce soaked the bread and dripped onto the plate with every bite. My husband's salad was a sad affair, with minimal lettuce, a brick of what may have been salmon at one point, and dollops of veggies added more for color than for flavor. This is the second time we have tried The Huckleberry, and the results were worse than the first. There will not be a third attempt. read more

I let a friend here for lunch the other day and I haven't been in years so I was looking forward to it. The staff is always nice and that is still true. I love the old time family cafe feel and the look of the desserts in the glass case when you walk in. Upon the server's recommendation and against my better judgment, I ordered the Mac and cheese with grilled chicken added. He was right! The Mac and. Geese is delicious and I was good and only ate about a quarter of it and took the rest home. The chicken was a little dry and didn't have a lot of flavor but the Mac and cheese made up for it. This is my first time to The Huckleberry for breakfast. I have been here before for their wonderful afternoon tea and lunch. The food was delicious! I ordered the Garden Scramlette which was served with a biscuit and potatoes. I opted for fruit instead of the potatoes. The scramlette was akin to an omelette. It was the most tasty scramlette/omelette I've had in a long time. The scramlette included tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, onions and cheddar cheese. The biscuit was fluffy and served with homemade jam and butter. I ordered their house-made chai. The restaurant group is connected with The Dushanbe Teahouse and this tea was on the same level as that restaurant. They gave you one refill and the waiter asked if I wanted my refill to go. The service was exceptional. Our waiter came back several times to check on us. We didn't have to wait long for either our food or check. I can't wait to come back here for breakfast. It's been hit or miss on good food so I was happy to find this place close to my hotel. The whole downtown area is nice and this place fits right in. Service was incredibly friendly and prompt. For food I opted for the pulled pork Benedict with the eggs scrambled because poached eggs are nasty. Instead of a biscuit or English muffin, the eggs here came atop a fried grit cake. Good choice. The eggs and pork were great. Their house made hot sauce (made with OJ) was a perfect addition to add a little heat. Louisiana boys need the heat.
