Generally good facilities, and mostly responsive service - but with poorly-conceived design elements and some service problems: * No fridge, just a thermoelectric beverage cooler. Why? The cooler is almost as large (and as expensive) as a minifridge, but far less useful. Moreover, ours was broken, emitting heat on the outside with no cooling on the inside (probably because the cabinet in which it is located doesn't allow it to ventilate and it broke long ago). This design choice feels both cheap and stupid. * No ice machines or vending machines. Ice and snacks can be ordered from the front desk, but that makes my life more complicated, not less. If I just want a cup of ice, I want to be able to quickly grab it down the hall - not to pick up the phone. * No desk in the room. I see this is becoming more common, but have hotels forgotten that a significant portion of their guests are traveling on business, and not looking to co-work in the lobby, etc.? A small desk easily could replace the rather uncomfortable chair in the room (and perhaps be part of a furniture update to also fix the cooler issue). * To the hotel's credit, in regard to service, they did provide a replacement for the cooler (an actual minifridge, so they apparently do have them), and ice when I ordered it. * On the other hand, the room had not been thoroughly cleaned (I found a dried-up contact lens on the floor next to the bed) and the bathroom supplies were chintzy (tip to management - two people may need more than two towels, if someone washes their hair, etc.) Bottom line: The hotel is putting too much effort into looking hip than actually running a functional business. "Good enough" isn't enough when there are other choices. read more

I can't speak on the Hotel because I have never been customer but I have gone to a few events that they have at a venue called the Apartment a best kept secret that has all types of venues from Trading Plants to a live Podcast plus many more great experiences. I'm so glad I was searching through Facebook to find some things to do because this place always has something going on and I think if you truly check them out you may find something that you like to do or always wanted to check out. I don't know if it is all the venues that they have at the Apartment but you have to be 21 years old or older and they do check your ID so make sure if you sign up for an event you have your ID otherwise you will not get into the venue if that is a stipulation. So going exploring and see what you find and as always.... Enjoy!!! read more

An amazing boutique hotel surrounded with amazing staff and a great speak easy lounge. It's surrounded by a number of restaurants and night life! The only downside is that there is no microwave whatsoever in the building. Couldn't reheat my food :( read more

What a wonderful hotel! My husband and I stayed there last night for our anniversary, and the experience was fantastic from beginning to end. As we checked in (they let us check in early - also an added plus!) they asked the occasion and we told them it was our anniversary. I don't know if that had anything to do with our room assignment, but we were given a beautiful room on the top floor (11) with a gorgeous southern view of the west loop! The room is small but so cozy. We didn't want to leave! After heading to the bar in the lobby and treating ourselves to a few appetizers and a drink, we came back to our room to find a note welcoming us and offering us a free drink to celebrate our anniversary weekend! I thought that was SO sweet! Their rooftop restaurant Cabra is beautiful with fantastic views of the city. The speak-easy type bar in the basement Lazybird is laid back, dark, and romantic. The decor everywhere at the Hoxton is stunning. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you're paying for the neighborhood and awesome location near dozens of award winning restaurants. Not that you even need to leave - the Hoxton has it all. read more

This review is only for the hotel/ room and not the food which was much better. The check in process was a pain. One person working and 25 minutes in line for a 2 minute transaction. The room itself is small even by big city standards. Biggest issues - the ac was so so loud and the shower water pressure was terrible and the shower didn't drain. Hard issues to get fixed when your only downtown for one night. Save your money or stay elsewhere. read more

This hotel is super hipster and a hotspot in the city! The accommodations are great, including mini breakfasts and bottled complimentary water. The pool is smaller then it appears, wellness center requires you to have your own workout which I utilized and the front desk staff is helpful and eager to provide great customer service. I requested a room view and was pleasantly surprised! read more

This boutique hotel is conveniently located in the West Loop and is surrounded by some great restaurants and bars. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel had a lot of nice amenities, including a speakeasy cocktail bar, a coffee shop/bakery, and lobby bar and restaurant. The rooftop pool restaurant and bar (Cabra) also seemed to be very popular. They have lounge chairs upstairs with a great view of Chicago. Everyone was dressed pretty chic, especially during weekday happy hour times and the evening, and there were a lot of instagrammable photo ops for anyone interested. Don't expect to use the pool. One added bonus was that breakfast drinks and snacks were delivered to your room provided you put in a request by 2am. Overall, this was a great stay. read more

First of all, I do not write reviews unless I feel strongly inclined to do so. This being said I would have to say my stay at The Hoxton has to be one of the worst hotel experiences I have been in, in my life. The crowd here is older and as a younger Black woman I could honestly say the energy that was eluded towards me was quite dismissive the entire time. We were quoted a rate for the second night with VERBAL CONFIRMATION which I should've already known was a red flag- and then charged a rate twice the amount - not once ...but twice...( mind you that's 3 days of charges with only 2 nights of habituating the space-do the math) with absolutely no explanation and till this day only god knows why that happened. I will say the hotel is cute but all I can remember is that the shower and sink wouldn't drain and we never had hand soap. Lol. Anyways, i'm leaving out some details I don't want to type more than I already have. Everyone's experience is different but I would say ours was poor resulting in a one star. Side note: They are under the umbrella of Soho house and we al know how their service is... read more

We came into town early for a work/fun trip. Mckaila was working at the front desk and made our day with her friendliness, helpful tips, and getting us in our room early! She is a gem and The Hoxton is lucky to have her! We also love the old/rustic/modern decor and had great service at the restaurant while we got some work done. Looking forward to the rest of our stay. read more

The Hoxton is a boutique hotel chain that has locations across the US and Europe. The wife and I decided to do a little weekend getaway, and we chose the Hoxton because of its proximity to pretty much every place we wanted to eat. Reservations: The reservation process was really unique. We booked directly on their website, and they allowed us to choose our check-in and check-out times. We're not talking about something like requesting early check-in or late check-out, but truly being able to check in and out whenever you wanted. We only booked a room for 1 night, but we were able to check-in at 10AM the day we arrived and checked out at 6PM the next day. That's pretty much two entire days for the price of a single night. Even though the prices might be a bit higher than hotels you can get in River North, it's worth it for this perk alone. Location: You pretty much cannot beat The Hoxton's location. It's at the perfect spot, central to both the West Loop and Fulton Market. It's absurd how many quality restaurants are within a single block. One block south is Restaurant Row on Randolph St. and one block north are all the newer spots they've been building along Fulton Market. Every type of restaurant you could ever want is within a 2 block radius. In fact, if you're a fan of the Boka Restaurant Group, you don't even have to leave your hotel. Cabra (Stephanie Izard) is on the rooftop, Cira (Chris Pandel) is in the lobby, and Lazy Bird cocktail bar is in the basement. We stayed here when it was pretty cold in the city and it was nice just rolling up to all these restaurants without having to carry a jacket or umbrella. I also liked how it wasn't located on a hotel campus that only has other hotels in the area, but rather it was just immersed in the heart of the Chicago food scene. Everything was walkable. The Hoxton truly goes for a unique vibe. Every inch of the place was thoughtfully decorated rather than the cookie cutter layouts of bigger hotel chains. The colors were just vibrant, and there was plenty of sunlight and plants to brighten up the look. It was also cool that the lobby and the elevators had various nods to Chicago baked into the décor as well. The only downside of sharing a space with 3 popular restaurants is that there's a lot of foot traffic going in and out of the hotel. It's hard to tell who's actually a guest of the hotel, so you sort've lose that sense of exclusivity when it comes to the common areas and amenities. Although I think I did see a sign that said the rooftop pool was reserved for hotel guests only before a certain time (it was closed when we went). From a security standpoint, while you do need a key to operate the elevators to the rooms, you honestly could walk right into the hotel without being noticed. Rooms: They really nailed the boutique look. The room décor was a mix of antique and industrial chic. The Hoxton was truly able to do more with less. The rooms themselves were pretty small, but you didn't really notice because you're admiring all the little accents scattered throughout the room. No closet? No problem. They added a cool looking brass pipe clothes rack on the wall. Everything from the light fixtures, wallpaper, old school radio, and the books on the nightstand really fit together well. The shower was one of the most impressive parts of the room. The shower door and frame were industrial quality that you might see at a retail store front. Ain't no water splashing on this floor. My only complaint would be the really outdated TV and the lack of an iron and ironing board. Can't be going out to these nice restaurants with wrinkled shirts! Overall, we really enjoyed our night at the Hoxton. A few years ago I used to pay an insane amount in rent to live on Randolph St, and it still doesn't compare to the convenience of The Hoxton's primetime location. I would seriously gain 50 lbs if I stayed here for more than just a few days. Way too many amazing restaurants nearby. read more

There's hardly any options on the room service menu there's only like four things all day on there. There's a pool here but barely hardly any lay out chairs so good luck trying to get a nice tan in. Billed as a "home away from home", The Hoxton hotel will make you feel like you are staying in a center-city studio, not a run-of-the-mill hotel. What the hotel has in quaint charm, it misses in amenities and service that you would expect at the hotel's price point. While I can appreciate the design and feel of the hotel, the lack of supporting amenities leaves a lot to be desired. Imagine a cute, Upper East Side apartment from Mad Men. That is exactly what The Hoxton feels like. If it weren't for the regulation-mandated fire escape sign on the inside of the hotel room door, you truly would have no idea that you were in a hotel room. The bathrooms are fitted with chevron medium gray floor tiles, dark green and black wall tiles, and retro sinks. It truly feels like a luxury bathroom from a bygone era. The styling does not stop there as most of the room is outfitted similarly. 1940s-era floor lamps are accented by very modern ceiling lamps to create a mix of styles that blend well and do not clash. Where the room does miss the mark is the size. If you are the type that likes to lounge in the room at night or have a lazy morning in bed, this might not be the hotel for you. The bathroom also comes with one vanity and is not really appropriate for two individuals getting ready at the same time. That being said, the size of the hotel room does fit in well with the overall Mad Men-esque apartment vibe. Unfortunately, as quaint as the hotel is, it falls short in the amenities and service aspects. The Hoxton is one of the pricier hotels in the Chicago area, especially on a per square foot basis, and just does not have the amenities or service that one would expect at this price level. While not rude, the hotel staff is not the friendly type that greets you like I would expect at a similarly-priced luxury or boutique hotel. Housekeeping is by-request only and is wildly inconsistent. Standard amenities that one would expect at this price point, such as q-tips, shower caps, a functioning bathroom fan, remote close window shades, ability to connect to the TV via Bluetooth, etc., are not provided at The Hoxton. The rooms are also poorly ventilated, so unless you keep your window open, expect the bathroom to get musty after a hot shower. The bathroom lights are also controlled by a motion sensor that turns the lights off every two minutes, so expect to take a quick shower. It's not that The Hoxton necessarily has anything wrong with it, but rather that certain amenities and levels of services that one would expect at the price point that the hotel is at are not provided. The hotel features two restaurants and a speakeasy bar. One of the restaurants also offers a daytime bar that turns into a lively bar at night. It's a very "see and been seen" vibe. There is also a rooftop as well as a pool. No exercise facility is on site. The hotel does provide complimentary water, but it is by-request only. The hotel's location is excellent. You are a short walk from multiple subway stations and a short ride from several attractions. It takes about an hour from ORD or MDW via train and less with a car. read more

Kudos to the designers of our room for soundproofing the windows along the L tracks (you could barely hear the train as it passes by), but what a complete failure for not doing the same about the hallway noise. Every time someone walked down the hall it sounded like they were inside our room. The rooms were small, but cozy, and there was enough space to store our items. I enjoyed the complementary breakfast (overnight oats, fruit, and juice) delivered to our room each morning. The items in the fridge were complimentary too. The basement has a workout room with yoga mats, dumbbells, medicine balls, bosu balls, and plenty of space for walking lunges. Great space for a brief workout. I would consider staying here again, but only once the crowds die down (assuming that even happens). With this being the new hot spot in Fulton Market, there was wave after wave of hipsters flooding the lobby and bar at all hours of the day. If this is your scene, and you don't mind interrupted sleep, then this is the hotel for you. read more

Honestly - I don't think I've stayed in a better hotel. This was a fun night on the town and we chose this hotel, but I travel for work as well, so am very familiar with all the chains, boutiques and hotels alike! I booked the Hoxton a few weeks prior to our stay. I'll reference that I received a better rate due to the company I work for, so that helped a ton! Upon checking in, the staff was so accommodating. They asked if we were celebrating anything (it was us and another couple) and we said it was one of our parties birthdays. They offered us all a free drink on the house. The rooms are SO neat. I love that they say at check in, "everything in the room is included" so you don't have to guess about coffee, water, etc. The decor was beautiful. View was of the West Loop. For anyone complaining of noise, find me a hotel in the city that doesn't have that problem! Search "White Noise" on youtube and let it run all night. The absolute BEST part of the room was the temperature: WE SLEPT IN SUB 60 DEGREES! It was an ice box! It was GLORIOUS! One of the most important details to me when staying in a hotel is, how much can I REALLY control the thermostat? And The Hoxton knocked it out of the park. I got down to 55 degrees and stopped, not sure how far I could have gotten it but it was amaaaaazing. Check out time is a lenient 12pm and how have I not mentioned the location yet?! If you're looking for a hotel in the thick of it, this is it. Absolutely perfect location for a West Loop extravaganza. After our dinner and several bars in, we stopped back for a few drinks before we went to bed. We were SHOCKED to see how busy the bar was! Every time we walked into the hotel, it was bustling. People everywhere lounging, eating, drinking, etc. Though the bar was busy and crowded, we received drinks quickly and courteously. SUPER small little critiques that I'll add - which is more for if any management reads this, and less concerning for future stayers: -One of the reasons I booked The Hoxton over one of the other West Loop hotels, was because I found it SO neat that there was a Speak Easy/Basement bar. Upon checking in, we were told it was booked for a private event and we wouldn't be able to visit. Big bummer. -Likewise, we were equally stoked for the rooftop restaurant, only to find that it too, was booked for a private event. I recognize that it's extra revenue, but maybe only book one of your restaurants at a time to allow hotel guests the opportunity to at least use one of them. Or - provide discounts when those options are unavailable...or at the very least! Give customers a heads-up prior to booking. -The hotel shower was neat and visually appealing, but the shower head from the ceiling was not ideal for me. I wanted to rinse off and not wash my hair, so had to do some circus-style contortions to make that happen. -Add more towels. If you don't want them front and center (so they aren't all used), place them in the room and outside the bathroom. read more

I have to say the hotel business is a service business...and the Hoxton has a lot to learn about good service...first don't expect anything. Even though the rooms are tiny and noisy and over priced, if you wanna go to the gym, you better be ready to spend 12 bucks to buy a pass to a gym around the corner. Seriously...oh yes that coffee in the morning, over priced and horrible as well. If would be one thing if the manager was cool but nope super pretentious and full of themselves. I travel for a living and am stay in the finest hotels the new hoxton has a lot to learn about keeping guests coming back. Me and my team will go elsewhere as the manager recommended, all for a 12 dollar gym pass. Such poor service...I won't mention that the restaurant gaffes our order and brought the wrong food..oops I guess I did.. This is absolutely the worse experience I had in Chicago. I had a stomachache, so I sat with my friends and I asked for a Baileys drink. The server thought I was " drunk " because I asked for a Baileys drink (apparently) and because I have an accent, she then told her manager that she did not feel comfortable to serve me. Because I have an accent , really? She did not talk to me at all, she does not even try to truly understand what was going on and no leadership either ... super disappointed with the treatment and I hope everyone reading this message thinks 3 times before trying this extremely racist place. This place is sooo cozy and clean! My husband and I were staying here 4 days while in town for a friends wedding in January. It's a bit hipster/trendy, but in a good way. The lobby is a little overwhelming, there is a very crowded bar/restaurant that covers most of the lobby and then a coffee bar and some office space (like WeWork) so I after a 5 hour drive I just wanted to check in and find the front desk of the hotel. I honestly had to ask "are you the hotel people?" to the desk workers because they were behind MacBook computers and wearing jeans (I don't recall nametags but maybe I just overlooked) and didn't look like your typical reception desk peeps. Guess that's what they're going for. They call their rooms "bedrooms" and there's 3 different sizes. We chose the midsized one. Lucky me, I was sick (because January) and stayed in bed most of the days- therefore I can attest to it feeling very homey! They had a lovely duvet (down feather type) comforter on the bed and the bathroom was GORGEOUS. Like I want to copy it and put it in my future home because I liked it so much! Shower was large, had a overheard rain shower head and handheld. I love when hotels have shower doors instead of gross shower curtains- I freak out when a strange shower curtain touches my leg, it's borderline phobia. They have a breakfast bag- which is fruit, juice, and overnight oats which is perfect for light eaters in the morning. Electric kettle with coffee and tea options in room. Small mini fridge in room. Nice touches were usb outlets by bed and the automatic light sensor in the bathroom. Nothing is worse than being in a strange place and fumbling in the dark for the light switch! You need your room key to operate the lights and elevator, just takes some getting used to and didn't bother us much. It's a European thing. We had some drinks at the lobby bar with a group on a Friday night. They have a DJ that starts at 7am and plays all day/night! It's apparently the cool new place to go for locals too since it's only been open a few months. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to eat at any of the restaurants. We popped upstairs on the roof to check out the rooftop bar but weren't able to get in with our large size since we weren't eating. Looked cool though! Only main complaint.... it was HOT. I'm talking we walk into our room after schlepping a bunch of luggage (we were there for a wedding so garment bags etc etc) and the room was 89 degrees F! It never really cooled down properly the entire stay, we had the air on for most of the time and window open a few times (remember, it's Jan). Heard the same thing from others in our wedding party. The rest of the hotel felt equally warm and I would have to wait to put on my winter gear until we were about out the front door after walking through the lobby! read more

We booked a cozy room. It's pretty small and very cozy. 2 adults fit comfortably. No hotel fees! The pet policy is awesome. No pet deposit. We were given 2 dog bowls and a dog bed. My 11 year old pup loved the dog bed. I loved the small booklet with neighborhood info. Note, the water was cloudy from the faucet, but there was flat water in the refrigerator. I didn't find it until later. The water is complimentary. You have a dog door sign to place on the handle of your room to warn anyone coming in. A cute breakfast bag is suppose to be on your tabletop when you arrive. Ours was missing and the front desk agent gave us a new one. We were graciously delivered a cold oat breakfast with a pear and an orange juice. Even cooler, someone gave us theirs so we got more fruit and OJ. Yum. One area of improvement is the pool. Super cool that it's on the roof and it is heated. But, it's in the middle of the very popular Cobra. No way I'm that confident to start swimming with a group of people hanging out. I think this area needed more privacy. Lastly, the neighborhood is awesome. overpriced and overrated. If that's your jam, you'll love it! Decor is cute, sure, but the staff at the front desk had an attitude at all times so I really didn't want to ask them for much of anything after a couple times. Disappointing. Expected better service for the expense and caliber. This place certainly did not meet our expectations: 1) when we got a valet, we had tons of bags for a photo shoot. We had to push our own trolly- no one assisted or even held a door for us. 2) we asked for a steamer multiple times throughout our stay and apparently they only have a few for the whole hotel. None were available to us. 3) the room wasn't ready when we arrived. We had to go to lunch and come back. They advertise flex check-in and check-out but do not commit to it. 4) there was no hand soap in our room. When we asked for it, they claimed they do not provide hand soap to their patrons to reduce waste. So everyone in this hotel walks around with dirty bathroom hands? We had to call and request soap 3 times before they finally provided it. It took about 30 minutes for them to bring it up. 5) the night before, we asked to have our room cleaned at 9am the following morning. 9am- no one arrived, so we asked again. 10:15am- no one arrived... so we asked again. Eventually we received assistance at 10:30am. This was important since we were using the space for bridal photos. 6) only one out of two elevators were working, so there were long wait times to get to and from our room. read more

The lobby area & bar with its fireplace, sparkly Christmas tree and cozy furniture were so inviting. The music added to the " come sit & take a load off" vibe..... think Al Green, Amy Winehouse. The staff was exceedingly accommodating & friendly. We had breakfast at Cira....and it was memorable. A shiitake and butterkase omlette served with thin pickled red onion and oddly but wonderfully a green salad with radish & fennel. Perfectly complimented each other. Only drawback here was a very small room.... yikes small. It was not even the smallest available . The bathroom was nicely appointed but also just tiny. If you stay here you have to buck up for a larger sized room as the " cozy" size was uncomfortably cramped and not inexpensive. The cement ceiling also made for a bit of a cold. UPDATE- We went back to the Hoxton & stayed again. This time in a larger room with a fabulous view of the city. Just lovely!!! The staff was again wonderful and you just can't beat the breakfast in Cira. read more

Situated in Fulton Market, the Huxton offers an inspiring artistic stay. From the moment I entered the revolving doors, I was treated by a warm fire place, a smooth chill beat spun by a live DJ, and a welcoming bar. The hotel boasts an eclectic clientele ranging from a wide span of age groups and backgrounds. The rooms are a smaller compared to the Michigan avenue properties. It has a charming open clothing organizer, a selection of organic coffee and tea, and the Bluetooth speaks and phone offer a 1950's throw back vibe. I was pleased to find some selections of poetry books at the table stand and large size shampoo, conditioner and body wash. What was missing was lotion and perhaps an ability to iron my clothing. Unique to this spot is a cute bag that allows you to request grab and go breakfast for $4 and free bicycles to roam the area. I think the nightlight selections of a dj in the lobby, great craft cocktails, a roof top bar, and a their speakeasy venue made the stay worthwhile. read more

I've stayed at The Hoxton on two separate occasions for week long stays for work. I've dined in the restaurant, had drinks in the lobby and ordered from their very limited in-room dining menu. This place is all hype and not a lot of hospitality. The staff is nice and the decor is beautiful, but that's where it ends. $400/night gets you: No mini bar in room (items located at front desk behind check-in counter) Very, very limited in-room dining. You have to go down to bar and order from there if you want anything other than a double cheeseburger, pasta or salad. No iron No cold fridge (my fridge with just boxed water is off) No robe No gym (they have a "wellness center" with yoga mats) Food is fine (expensive) Prepare to elbow your way through the crowd in the lobby who are enjoying their after-work drinks to try and get to the elevators to your room. Do yourself a favor at stay at Ace if you need to stay in the area. This is not a relaxing place to be when everything is an inconvenience. read more

The decor is A+ and just like the pictures they have online. Check in and out was quick and easy. We had drinks in the restaurant and the cocktails were delicious. It's in a great area of town and were happy to see we were close to great bars and restaurants. 10/10 recommend. read more

I don't know how this place doesn't have 5 stars ... if you are looking for an intimate, boutique hotel experience HELLO HOXTON. From the second you walk in the door, this place is amazing. the lobby ambiance is everything you ever wanted ... they have a DJ starting early in the day to keep the vibe going. the staff throughout our entire stay were so friendly and accommodating. Let's talk about the restaurants and speak easy (lazy bird) you have to dine at one of them - we though Cabra was a better vibe, located on the roof (there was a line all the time!) the speakeasy is so great - live music on Friday and Saturday. They hang breakfast in a bag outside of your door each morning - you mark on your bag what time you would like it delivered. they served overnight oats (amazing!! and gluten and dairy free), fresh fruit and fresh juice. The body wash, shampoo and condition were all high end (things you want to use ... no crappy chemicals), and a GREAT hair dryer :). They offered a laundry service as well (charges seemed reasonable). Behind the front desk they had an array of mostly local items that you could stock your fridge or room with ... these were all at reasonable cost, like what you would actually pay at the store!! they had local popcorn, beer, wines in a can, hangover recovery remedies, gourmet bars, etc. Oh and if you stay here, free yoga at the studio in the basement. and the best location if you are spending time in the Fulton Market area. we will be back. Thank you Hoxton! read more

This is a hotel convient to business yet no coffee until 7:00 AM, that's just ridiculous for those of us who work and get up early. Will never stay here again.! read more
