For a large store, the employees I encountered were so nice, helpful and cheerful!!! I highly recommend!

This is my second trip to this store. These young kids in the customer service area, need curlstomer service training. They dont care about the customer, they move with no sense of urgency and there just waiting to go home. When ever I have to come to this location I cringe. Not one of my favorite stores at all read more

After much looking, we ordered a refrigerator from Home Depot in Somerville, Ma. A month later, we had a delivery date, and a four hour window in which the fridge would come. We saw a big truck pull up. We were waiting on the front porch. Then they kept going. We thought they would come back. They didn't. Customer service said there was no parking for the big truck as we don't have a driveway and a smaller truck would bring the refrigerator on Wed. Our new window was 7:00 to 11 in the morning and we were told that we would probably be first. No truck came. Customer service said now it would be a later window. A supervisor later said that actually, our fridge was not on the truck at all and maybe it would come on Thursday and he would definitely call at 5:00 P.M. to let us know. No call came. On Thursday a smaller truck pulled up. There were 2 large car size spaces to park across the street and we moved our car to make it three. No, they said, they couldn't park and they quickly left. We canceled our order. There was not a way to get our refrigerator. Three days of waiting, being on hold, talking to various people, food in and out of a refrigerator. It was all a big waste. Big trucks make deliveries on our street all the time. Of course they do. read more

I've been frequenting this location since I became a home owner and have to give a shoutout to everyone who's helped me in the paint department. Each time I've come in, the folks in the paint center were friendly and helpful to a first time painter. My first time in to get some samples I wasn't as prepared as I could've been. When he asked me what finish I wanted I looked like a deer in headlights. He explained the difference to me. Next trip when I came back to get more of the color I'd picked, the differences between the different types of paint were explained to me and this gentleman saved me from buying an extra gallon of paint I didn't need. My bedroom looks great and I've since been back and used the money I saved in the bedroom to put towards painting another room. read more

Unprofessional staff and impolite service. Value was subpar. The place was not erll kept.

Slogan, Where Doers Get More Done. Can't anything done when items arrive broken or don't arrive on time like the order says. Can't get things done when customer service tells you it arrived a day ago and it didn't. Too many people involved and they need to centralize their service because right now it sucks! read more

Betsy was so super helpful in the garden center this morning. Needed burlap and stakes to winterize my garden and Betsy knew exactly what I needed for my viburnum. Curbside pickup is available. It is convenient IF the item is not missing. 2nd time I ordered curbside pickup one item was missing. I had to call the service center and forwarded to Somerville branch but nobody picked the phone. Eventually they solved the problem but I had to go there twice. Waste of time and gas. At the first place why can't they do the simple work: to collect just 3 items? Stupid. read more

**This review is made based off our experience in the appliances department** Although it took about 30-45 minutes for us to find someone to assist us, this location has excellent customer service once you get someone's attention. After a extensive wait time and multiple attempts to flag an employee down, Vinny was great and extremely knowledgeable. We had a ton of questions when it came to fridges, washers, and dryers and he was there to answer any and every question we threw at him. He informed us about the 3 or 5 year protection plans as well. Once we purchased the fridge he gave us a thick stack of papers stating more information about the fridge and the delivery date/process. We were also told to purchase an extension for the water line as the fridge has one but really short. I'm glad he pointed that out to us. Thanks again, Vinny for A1 customer service! Only reason I'm knocking a star off is because it took a while to finally find an employee to help us. read more

Be very careful with buying appliances or getting estimates for other things needing to be installed. I ordered a stove to be installed with the old stove being removed. I had a question about the removal of the old stove and after speaking with numerous employees and being on hold for over an hour, I found one who could answer my questions. I was constantly being transferred to other employees in the store or was on hold for very long wait times. One department seems not to interact well with either the installation department or with customer service. The other issue I faced with them is getting an estimate for some carpeting. The man measured my home then no response getting the estimate for the installation. After 2 days and over 5 hours on the phone trying to reach someone to get the estimate I am still waiting to hear from them or to speak to someone who knows anything about the estimate. It is somewhat difficult to find a salesperson in the store to buy something but once you do Its almost impossible to get any kind of follow up. read more

THE BEGINNING OF THE DISASTER... This review is for my experience buying blinds, which was a total nightmare. We paid for measuring and installation service and was assigned a guy who never responded. It took over 3 weeks just to get him to measure our windows and he messed up the measurements. He mixed up the windows in different rooms, which made it really hard to order blinds because different rooms had different blinds. We had to measure ourselves to correct his mixed up measurements. I mean, we paid for him to measure the windows, so why are we measuring them ourselves? We went to the store twice to look at blinds. The first time we were there, nobody could help us. We found a sales person who said there were custom blinds or blinds that were pre made and could be cut, and knew nothing else. I wanted somehow who knew about blinds to help us. So we went home and came back another day. This time there was a guy who was very new and did not know how to use the computer system but knew about blinds. While ordering with him, we discovered the measurements were wrong so we had to remeasure and go back again to order blinds. After going to home depot a million times, w finally recieved our blinds. We called the same guy to install them but he ignored all calls and text messages. Very frustrating. It was as good as talking to a wall. We paid for this service and the guy refuses to even communicate. Finally home depot send out a different guy who installed the blinds. We found out that one of the custom blinds we had ordered was damaged- it had a huge crack. Now we have to call home depot again, wait more again for new blinds. And I won't even try calling the installation guy cuz he won't respond. This was an absolutely painful experience and such a waste of time. Going to the store a million times was a waste of gas. And paying for measuring service and installation service was a waste of money because you get no service. The guy's job is to measure the windows and he couldn't even do his job properly. And he won't even install them even though we paid for the service. And we get broken blinds. I am going to need to drink a bottle of wine just to deal with this. UPDATE: THE DISASTER CONTINUES We received our replacement blinds since the guy installed BROKEN blinds in our house. We had to wait several weeks for this. Instead of calling someone from Home Depot, we decided to do it ourselves since the guy will never come. The shades were the right size, but the valence was too long and would not fit. How did they mess up again! We used the old valence since that was not broken, which was the correct size. I hope I don't have a disaster part 3, but just wait and see. read more

The Home Depot - Custom order blinds took weeks to make. The installation guy came and installed them even though they were damaged. - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Somerville, Massachusetts

I have experienced a circus of negative experiences with Somerville MA Home Depot. There are problems with their check out hardware, sometimes their machine that processes checks does not work. There are only a few good people who work here. Delivery is the worst. I had a cabinet delivered and they sent one delivery person. He said I didn't sign up to have it brought into my house. (Not true). I sent it back as I'm in my 60's and could not bring it by myself up my stairs. I called the delivery service and he told me he assumed I would not need help bringing it in, as my husband could help. I don't have a husband and told the delivery guy that. He never even asked me! I had them deliver on another day with 2 people to bring the cabinet in. Terribly sexist. Now I shop at Lowes. read more

John at the Sommerville, MA location is great - I had to help my sick college-aged daughter with a project. She is the maker, not me. John was thoughtful, and professional, and helped me with a solution that worked well for my family. He is a trained electrician so he was able to give great advice. Another customer (sorry guys - a male) got irritated that he was helping me solve a problem. John was calm, prioritized my support, and tried to guide the customer to service. All to say, we people of a certain age are normally ignored. John understood what needed to get done and took the time to help direct me to the right products at HomeDepot for the job. I called to ask whether I can return an appliance that I had bought two months ago, that I have a receipt for and that I don't have a box for anymore (I didn't think it would be so problematic). I explained I don't have a car so I wouldn't want to pay for a taxi to bring it in before clarifying what their policies are. They couldn't give me an answer, so I had to wait over 20 minutes to speak to the manager. When he came on the phone, I explained I bought it in July (now it's September) and that it isn't working reliably - doesn't always start and, when it does, it often stops on its own after half an hour. The guy laughed at me and told me that I should bring it in and I can get refund, but if that doesn't work I will get store credit. I asked him what wouldn't work, and he put me on hold without notice. When he came back, I asked him to explain what the policy is and he laughed at me and then hang up abruptly. How can someone be a manager of a store and have such an attitude? He was rude, arrogant, mocked me and refused to give me a clear explanation of the regulations. Absolutely horrible. read more

Downloaded yelp just to write how unhelpful the guy in the tools section was. I wanted to buy a new Milwaukee set for around the house, but he refused to unlock the gate for me. He just moped around and mumbled random words. Guess I'll go to ace down the road and spend the 400 bucks. read more

Not only did no one ask me if I needed help when I clearly was in need of it. I would rather leave and go somewhere that the employees are looking out for me instead of me having to seek them out. Also, when I was cashing out, the cashier made an extremely rude comment. The guy was trying to be funny. Now it didn't bother me but that isn't the point. It was unprofessional and it also wasn't funny at all. If you need something from a hardware store then this should be your absolute last resort. read more

Ordered a Traeger smoker that was a great deal. The wrong smoker was delivered. It's already assembled and won't fit in a standard vehicle, so I can't return it myself. No one on the phone was helpful, so had to deal with 50 minutes of Boston traffic to go to the store to schedule them to pick it up. They have no more of the model I actually ordered in the store (and the reason the wrong order was delivered was because it was mistagged.... Good thing I know my traegers, or I might have thought the much smaller one they sent me was right... seems suspicious). In order to get the smoker I want, I have to order it from another Home Depot store; they won't do that for me. Why? Is this not the same company? But it doesn't seem worth the hassle, so I order from another home depot to get the Traeger I want. So now I have the cost of 2 smokers on my credit card. The other store won't send me an assembled smoker, even though I paid for assembly, so now I'll have to put it together myself. The Somerville Home Depot gives me a pickup day when they will come get the smoker that was wrong, but no time window for that day other than between 6am and 8pm. Sure, everyone is free to be at home for 14 straight hours, right? And now it's 8pm on the day they're supposed to pick it up, and sure enough- no pickup. No email, no text, no phone call. No communication about when they will come get the smoker that they delivered or when I will be refunded my money. I have spent about $20,000 at Home Depot over the last year or so as I've done remodeling on my house, and this is definitely not the only time they have totally sucked in their customer service, delivery, and competence. I wish there was another home improvement store closer, because I would never set foot in a Home Depot again based on my experiences with their laziness and incompetence over the last year. At this point I'd probably rather drive an hour to another option rather than keep on dealing with this kind of crap. Do better. Edit: 3 days later. Home Depot has still not picked up the item. I've called the store 4 times. I've been on hold for over 30 minutes. I've been transferred from this store to another area store, claiming they are the ones who should schedule the pickup, even though I didn't order it from them. I've been hung up on. This is ridiculous. read more

Lotta Haterade. My experiences at this location were absolutely positive. Typically, I find my own shit. Nails, screws, caulk, whatever - I go, I buy with self-checkout, I walk to my car and laugh at the hollow shell of what used to be Circuit City next door. Last trip - early Saturday evening - I was a man on a mission, needing a 10'x10' collapsible canopy, a 6' collapsible table and two collapsible chairs. Yes, a booth in a box. Snake oil needs selling, kids, and ya jest cain't do it without a retail front! One guy in Garden walked me through the store on a snipe hunt for a "seasonal" tent after hand-holding me to aisle 9 for my table and chairs. His persistence became infectious and three other employees helped me de-package and set up two different model canopies to ensure all parts were present. After settling on a $100 model, the supervisor had the cashier drop in a 20% discount because "hey, you never know with open package product!" Everything worked fine, friend. Thanks for the markdown, the manpower and the orange aprons. Pimpin' pimpin'. read more

Ordered 6 flip top 12 gallon totes online and came in to pick them up. The young woman at the customer service desk already had an attitude and brought over 2 bins, one had a huge hole in the bottom like someone had put their foot through it. I asked where the others were and she told me that was it. (Online it said there were 73 in store) Naturally I went to go see if I could find more, there were none where they were supposed to be but after talking to a few (different) associates we found a whole bunch of them (at least 50) right at the front of the store right next to the customer service area... Home Depot management take this as an opportunity to retrain an employee to be helpful and provide customers with service, like she's paid for. +3 for the people for helped me read more

I looked at the HD web site. It said they had what I wanted. I went, and they did not have it. Of course, there is no "Complaints Department" on their web site ... or even a just "contact us". This is not the first time this has happened. Unless it is something veeeery ordinary, call them first. And (by the way) a hardware store like Tags in Porter Square, or Pill in Cedntral Square, is more likely to have the special fasteners (nuts, bolts, etc) you want, than HD. read more

Home of the worst Customer Service in Boston--give them a gold medal for that. Seriously, even trying to make eye contact with an employee in an apron walking toward you, or going to one standing by a register, they still ignore you until you really get into their face and ask for help & make it clear you won't let them pretend you're not there. Then the help never comes, so you have to once again chase down people in the store. Then help comes--and I have had this happen several times--they're surly, as in, "How dare you expect me to help you or ask a question!" I only go here because I live in walking distance; otherwise I'd avoid the place like the plague. The good side? They seem well-stocked on just about everything. read more

Hate to say it but I spend more time here than I'd like. Mostly due to the hours when I am able to complete many tasks up until 10pm seven days a week. Although most staff are not particularly helpful and won't offer to walk you to find what you need, they usually know approximately what aisle to send you to look for what is needed. Bad customer service. After seeing no one in the orange apron for a good 10 minutes, I went to four associates simply to ask if they could send someone to plumbing where I needed help, one directed me to a phone in the self-checkout aisle which I didn't see, the others said I had to get someone with a phone(?), and another said it wasn't his department! (though he finally directed me to the general type of connections I needed.) And I wasn't asking them for help, but to SEND someone. Hmmm. After posting this I just read the similar review 2/25/18 about the plumbing department. Sounds like a problem here. Maybe I'll buy a plant or two, but I'll have to reconsider my next visit if it's something more involved. read more

Hi Home Depot. I was just wondering if you have separate scripts and business practices for Asians and non-Asians. I was the lucky recipient of your "separate but equal" treatment by your employees, not once but twice in the same visit. For the first, I saw how jovial and friendly the interaction between two white customers and a Black customer service associate that I was actually looking forward to a similar interaction. [From the interaction, I also know that they are not friends nor did they even know each other until that point in time.] Alas, such was not the case for me, the smile went away and I was told in no uncertain terms that they were not able to help with my return and there was nothing the associate nor the manager can do. I had to come up with my own solution of asking for your corporate number until I realize I should just write a public review once I got home. With that interaction behind me, I went into the store, hoping to purchase a new washer and dryer set. This time, I found a white sales associate helping a white customer make a sale. The white associate was very helpful, even emphasizing when and how delivery was going to take place. Alas, my interaction with the white sales associate lasted half as long. While still courteous, the associate actually suggested I make the purchase online, even though we were standing right at the terminal where the white customer prior had just made their purchase. While they did point out the quick delivery and suggested an electric instead of a gas dryer, I got the feeling that they wanted to minimize interaction with me. With all that said, I am now currently looking at washers/dryers at your competitors. Even though I'm but a 10 min walk from your Home Depot, I got your "othering" message for Asians and will never plan to return. read more

UPDATE _ CURBSIDE PICKUP IS A FRAUD! I ordered a bunch of stuff excited to try their curbside. Oh... no such thing. "checked in" after I pulled into the curbside space and waited 45 min. Finally went inside and the employee was like, "Oh we don't really do that. nobody watches the curbside portal, we don't have time for that." OMG... speechlesss..... I have had generally really poor customer service experiences here. Their wood cutter device has been broken for MONTHS. How about getting fixed since you sell lumber? On multiple occasions an employee has just randomly directed me to an aisle for an item when clearly it's the wrong aisle (then they rush off). It is absolutely impossible to find help here. the final visit i had i was looking for some simple items (1- a drill that the home depot website showed as '4 in stock' in the store, 2- a chuck for an old drill 3- some child safety items and 4-a piece of wood - which i couldn't buy because the cutter is STILL broken). I am done with this place, sadly. I did get good help once when a kind employee walked me to find something in the screws and nails sections. read more

Customer service: the last time I went I asked someone at the front if there was a cashier open. The store, it seems, has replaced almost all their cashiers with self-checkouts. "Yeah, he's over there if you want to bother him." Bother him? Nice attitude pal. Quality: despite that I went in tonight and bought an emergency replacement for our kitchen faucet, which had failed pretty spectacularly (Niagara Falls!). I got the faucet, brought it home, got the old one out, installed the new one and... nothing from the cold side. All the troubleshooting I did got me nowhere. Finally I disassembled the whole thing, started packing it up, and that's when I realized that the box had been damaged, taped together, and then banded shut. They sold me a used and returned broken POS. A functional faucet would have saved the day for tomorrow; this was a complete waste of time and energy. Thanks for nothing. read more

So, I should have known better than to order from Home Depot -- but I did it anyway -- and sure enough, they delivered to an address that was wrong and when I went to find it at the wrong address, no sign of it anyway and no clue who signed for it. Then, spent hours on the phone with Home Depot "Customer Service" who, as it turned out, could not in any way "serve" me, the customer. They instead decided to send another of the same order to THE SAME WRONG ADDRESS. I appealed, saying that I would then be paying TWICE for the same item that I did not receive. After another few hours of trying to solve the problem with Home Depot STORES, they wound up telling me it was my fault -- and they could not refund my charges. Instead, they recommended I call Master Card to dispute the charges. Which, of course, I will do -- and never order anything from Home Depot again. At least if I order from Amazon and there's a problem, they make it easy to refund/solve the problem. Home Depot -- shame on you. read more

Plenty of parking, big sliding doors, tools and wood arranged on shelves and available for purchase. It's as good a Home Depot as you'll find. I've been here about 300 times in the past year (sometimes 5x in a day), so I figured it's about time to throw up a review. For starters, this place is a little tricky to find. Once you do find it, make sure that you park as close to Mystic Ave as possible. The closer you park to the store, the more likely your vehicle is going to get dinged up by a shopping car or one of their orange metal carts. You want to be on high ground and also where there are the least amount of carts. Trust me. Your car will thank me. One of the best things about this site is that they have fresh popcorn. Walk through the middle entrance and you can get a nice whiff of that movie theater butter aroma. Lovely. Since all Home Depots in the area have similar inventory, the only thing really to compare is the customer service. I'd say the managers here are the least friendly and helpful out of all the HDs that I've been to. You are going to get treated much better if you deal with the folks at the Everett HD. This will matter when you are placing Special Orders (any non-stock item is essentially special order). One time, I came to pick-up some Special Order extension jambs. The salesperson that I dealt with told me to wait at the front counter and that she'd bring them out. This was around 6:55 PM. It's 7:20 PM and no extension jambs, and no one comes to give me an update. By this time, I'd forgotten her face and name and talked to someone else at Customer Service. They began to type some things into the computer and every 10 seconds would start banging the keyboard in frustration. 5 minutes later, she said she'd go back to look for the items. 5 minutes later, she comes back and says she can't find them even though the computer said they were there. She has the next person come, and then she goes back. To make a long story short, it's 8:00 PM by the time I get out of the HD with the extension jambs. It took 1 whole hour... read more
