With that in…read moremind, I had just moved to a new apartment in Brighton and it had this hideous purple covering my walls. It was a truly disgusting element for an otherwise ideal bachelor pad. I take the pike to work, so I always drove by the Sherwin-Williams and figured why not give it a shot, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. I walked in and pretty much had the place to myself, I was guided through some initial samples to try and find a suitable color as I was most interested in a shade of dark blue. I spent $20 and left with enough from three sample shades to paint what felt like my entire house. Finding the right color ended up being easier than I imagined, so I went back to the store the next day to make my final purchase and figure out what other supplies I would need such as a floor cover, brushes, etc. It was pretty jammed in there, but I ended up getting the store rep's attention after about 5 minutes. Despite the crowd, the guy (different from the day before, I can't remember his name even though he shared it with me) seemed to do a good job of balancing out everyone's needs, and I ended up with my paint and gear ready to go in less than a half hour. I didn't do a ton of comparison shopping, but I don't think the service could have been better. My paint job is now complete and I know where to direct any friends with similar projects in the future.

Awesome, this saves me a trip to Home Depot after my stop here! Well, I only needed a quart but they were out so I bought a gallon. Unfortunately when I got home and started painting with it, I found that it was a few shades lighter than the color I started with. I can't use it. I called to let the girl know I'd be by today to return the gallon, and she said she would leave a note explaining the issue. Now here I am with the gallon I intend on returning, standing in front of the store's sign which states they are open until 5 PM today and the door is locked. When I called, no one answered. Apparently the stated hours are arbitrary. It was stressful finding out the color match was inaccurate. It's more stressful to show up during normal business hours to find the store closed. Especially because now I need to make another trip over here tomorrow before my 13 hour overnight shift. :-/ I'll be calling in advance to make sure they're open.

Counter staff helped direct me downstairs. The guy (Carrie?) was super helpful, and cut a light chain to size and attached a magnetic two sided key ring to hold together. He was great, particularly as I had lost my voice and it was clearly an unusual request. A star off because one of the store managers took my paint chip, analyzed in with the color match tool, but then added more pigment to the can and showed me on the tiny swatch that "it matched better"... I went home, put it on the wall and .. it didn't (it was too dark, no extra pigment should have been added). I was back the following day, in line again, buying more paint.

I had a great experience at City Paint…read more I get the keys to my new rental unit in Union Sq next Friday and the wifey and I want to paint it up, so we found City Paint because they carry Benjamin Moore. We had our colors picked out online, stopped into City Paint mid-afternoon on Saturday, and received great service. We walked in and actually approached one of the guys for assistance rather than expect to be helped by merely standing around (shocking, right?). When we told him we were painting our rental, rather than try to upsell us to the "Regal" grade paint @ $38/gallon, he suggested we just use the commercial grade @ $26/gallon. He took our colors and gave them to the guys in the back to mix up, and then proceeded to usher us around the store to help us find all the supplies we needed - trays, brushes, rollers, drop cloths, etc. As we were being helped, several other people walked into the store, and the guy helping us was quick to whistle to the back to get other employees out to the front to assist them. After the paint was done mixing, he rang us up and had one of the other employees box everything up and wheel it out to our car on a dolly.
