The only store in the area that sells screws nuts and bolts by piece , fantastic selection for a small store

The rude girls who work at CCH don't care, don't know, and don't want to know. Today I was told that I had to leave the store because they were closing: after I was already inside. Her attitude didn't allow for back talk, so I am writing this, and I will go out of my way to shop elsewhere in the future. That attitude seems to be a constant. They have pretty long store hours which makes this place perfect if you need a quick fix for your apartment or home. I'm constantly breaking things in my apartment so I can easily run here and I know they'll have what I need. The store associates are super helpful and have been able to answer my questions every time! I would definitely rather go here and pay a little bit more than driving all the way to Home Depot. I highly recommend giving this place a try before the big hardware stores! read more

I've always had a thing for hardware stores, I guess being a bit of a thinkerer does that to you. It seems that these days most people think 'oh just go to home depot', well, for opne thing, I am not tryiong to build a house! Most times I just need a little widget or gromet or whatever to make the whatchamacall-it stop leaking, or beeping, or squeaking. What rocks about this harwdare store is that: 1) It is down the block from my apt. 2) It's between the T stop and my apt, so it's on the way home. 3) It has decent hours, i.e.., they close at 7 on weekdays, so most of the time I can swing by on the way home. They also have a great selection of home improvement needs, and the staff is super friendly: no bitter old men here. read more

I've only ever written one other Yelp review before, and it was for a private music instructor I had for a year or so before he had to move, and it was because he excelled so in teaching and just being an all around good guy. That having been said, I've been to this store a few times before. Once, I was happy with the service. I was helped by what I think was the owner, a man summarized in various caricatures of glasses and moustaches by the front counter. I didn't need help finding much, but I asked for his opinion on different urethanes for a project I was working on and he gave a very helpful and thoughtful response, definitely above and beyond. Every other time since, I have been "assisted" by some 20-something underling with a total dearth of knowledge in anything I might have asked about (which I can forgive, not every employee can know everything, that's totally fair), but far less forgivable was their apathy and complete lack of compassion, and the fact that customers were waiting for assistance while they were laughing it up behind the counter. My most recent experience involved me making a $15ish purchase ($8 spraypaint, $5 damage-free hangers, less than $2 box of chalk). I was using a Visa gift card, which I had used earlier in the day successfully, and used after my trip here for a larger purchase which was also successful. The card kept getting declined, and the employees said "sorry man, you just don't have enough". This is a fair enough assumption, though for my own sanity's sake as well as to eliminate one variable to them, I called up the gift card hotline on speakerphone in front of them and had them read the balance, which was more than enough. I asked them to try the card again, which they did, but to no avail. After several more failed attempts, they issued a robotic apology and suggested that I check the balance. I don't blame them for the card not working, that'd be silly of course. I do blame them for their lousy people skills, as well as for the fact that I had my balance read over the phone to them and they still thought that was the issue. Also, when I pestered them to try it a few more times on the other reader, I explained that I had come a little bit of a ways and didn't want to have the trip be for naught. Knowing this, as well as the fact that they're not some big chain or corporation with very strict policies, couldn't they have offered me the under $2 box of chalk as a consolation prize? Seriously, how much money would they have lost from that, and I wouldn't have even considered writing this review were they to have done some small gesture such as that. But as I said before, I've dealt with what I believe to be the owner of this place, and he is very kind and accommodating, and I don't want to wish him any less business for his employees' shortcomings. I do hope that others will take note of their failures and he can find a staff that better suits his personality and business. read more

Let's summarize: My fiancé wanted: a 10ft piece of PVC pipe, cut into 4 pieces. What happened: he was denied. What happened when he offered to pay for each cut: the store manager stopped the employee who literally was about to cut the PVC (this employee has ALSO been kind to us and said "sure! we don't normally do that but okay!") and said that my fiancé would have to buy the pipe AND a hacksaw right there in the store to do it. Why he was pissed: he offered nicely to pay for each cut, and explained he had to take it back home on his bike. He was outright and vehemently refused. Result: store lost a purchase (however little money that may be) Second result: Fiancé biked from this store to Economy Hardware in the Back Bay, because they are perfectly fine with this and it's only 50cents per cut. What the hell, Cleveland Circle? That is just the silliest thing ever. You may be conveniently close, but whoever you were, mr, store manager, you sure were foolish. read more

Not the world's biggest hardware store, but they make up for it with friendly (but not obnoxiously so) service and willingness to answer and track down answers to questions. So happy to have them in the neighborhood. read more

I went in for some paint having zero idea how that whole process worked. Someone came up after I had been wandering around for about 10 minutes and they were super helpful explaining how they mix up the paints and helped me choose my colors. It took about 10 minutes for him to mix it up, but the price was right and i'm glad I went! They also threw in a free paint can opener, snazzy! read more

The staff are kind, friendly and very helpful! I needed to keep a door shut in my home that wouldn't stay closed on it's own. One of the employees figured out a solution that didn't require using a lock or needing a drill or tools at all(I have none). The solution worked flawlessly and I have been back for other items! They also have a pretty good selection of humidifiers at good prices (I did my homework). I love this little neighborhood business! read more

This hardware store seems fine in terms of what it has available, its location, and its hours. On the other hand, there is sign prominently displayed on the cash register indicating that they don't want people talking on their cellphones while at the register. That's all fine and good - that kind of behavior is annoying. The irony is that when I was here, the people working didn't seem terribly interested in taking my money, or returning my change, since they were so wrapped up in their conversation with one another. read more

Very convenient location. Easy parking on street. Friendly people behind the counter. A good variety of merchandise. Almost always in-stock. Best feature is that they sell screws, nuts, bolts, etc. by the piece. You don't have to buy a package with more pieces that you don't need. read more

Love these guys! They have everything and are super friendly. All your home/kitchen/garden needs met in one superb little hardware store.

This isn't just your neighborhood hardware store, this is a hardware store that has always had exactly what I've needed, every single time I've gone in. From a kit to fix my bathroom sink, to the specific fuses I needed, to bags of sand, and everything in between. They also make copies of keys (my front door has two different locks so when I needed copies, the employee was smart enough to make the keys different colors, for easier identification, without my asking). I've even seen them give out treats to people that come in with their dogs. Don't let the size of the store fool you, they also have a downstairs basement. What I love about this store is that unlike Lowe's or Home Depot, I can easily get help from an employee (they're always nice), quickly find what I need, and be in and out in 5 minutes. Yes, parking in Cleveland Circle is difficult, but I usually walk, and the one time I bought heavy items and decided to drive, there were plenty of spaces...it just depends on how busy the neighboring restaurants are. read more

The guys that work here are really nice, and very helpful. When they didn't have something that I needed they even referred me to other hardware stores in the area that might have it. It's a great neighborhood go to place, and has better hours then other hardware stores in the area. read more

This is the worst hardware store I've been to. I had paint mixed twice and they messed up the color both times AND THEN they REFUSED to refund my money. This was the worst $70 I have ever spent. I am taking my business to Home Depot from now on and you should too. Trust me. read more

This is a "neighborhood" hardware store in a city. I am always impressed by their customer service which is personal and above average. I needed a power screw driver to assemble a play structure at my daycare, and I ran in to purchase paint, brushes, etc. and inquired about possibly borrowing their power screw driver. No questions asked - I walked out with it and returned approximately two hours later. Hands down - amazing customer service! The best thing about it though is the people- I love knowing tht the people who work there will be able to give me advice - on my projects and on all their supplies. I've been living here for six years, and this little, bigger-than-it-looks hardware store has had all my hardware needs (half their store is below ground level). I imagine that for really big projects, you have to go to Home Depot, but I've never needed to make that trek. The people who work here are great, too. They've always been really helpful. read more

This is my go-to hardware store, as it's one of the few that's close to the T. I've been getting all kinds of things from them for about two years now, and I'm always happy with the service. The staff seems to turn over pretty frequently, but they always know right away where everything is when asked. I've asked for help with things I knew a lot about (woodworking tools) and things I know nothing about (wood stain, gardening), and they're always gracious in helping. They have just about anything that you might find that you need in a pinch. read more

I walked into Cleveland Circle Hardware for the first time in August of 2016 because I was initially interested in finding employment there. Right away I was struck by how unprofessional and how almost rude and disrespectful the personnel where when I first walked in. I wondered around for a few minutes passing by people in uniforms and was completely ignored despite my efforts to grab any of their attention (some too busy talking to each other even though I was only a few feet away). What I thought was odd also was that over the speakers an employee must've been playing their own personal music (genre not important) that was both loud and also kind of inappropriate (swears, etc). After all this they didn't even have a paper application to give me, but offered to email it......which they never did hahaha. Seemed like they had a good stock on products and that their prices were reasonable, but where did the the feel of a "ma and pa" hardware store go?? Hardware stores have always been pillars in the community, especially in Boston, but Cleveland Circle Hardware reminded me of how I feel when I walk into Homedepot regarding customer service, and not just what they have in stock and the competitiveness of their prices. More than a little disappointed over this interaction (I wasn't even a paying customer!) especially considering their independently owned and operated. read more
