So happy to find a local family-owned hardware store since relocating from Brattleboro VT, home of the great Brown and Roberts. The owner Manny cut some keys for me, resized some shades, and found the right adaptor for my kitchen faucet, all the while tolerating the needs and questions of my four-year-old. More than I can manage on some days. I thought the prices were reasonable too. We will check with Manny and Mike before going anywhere else! read more

This is the place to go for your hardware needs. Nice, friendly and knowlegable people are here like Manny and his son Mike. They do a good job making keys and advising for your painting work, You won't get the charm of Coolidge Hardware at many hardwares. They listen to what you need and are friendly. You get that special warm feeling of being appreciated as a customer. This is rare today. Coolidge Hardware is a part of the culture of Watertown and has been for a many years. We are kucky to have them here! read more

Great selection and a very helpful staff. Manny helped me find exactly what I needed. Awesome store.

Coolidge Hardware is our go to place when we want professional service and need high quality products. We have been going to Coolidge Hardware for over 30 years for high quality paint, paint brushes, hardware (screws, locks, keys...) and advice. I once brought a small chip off of an old wall we were repairing, and they were able to match the paint EXACTLY. Always professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful! read more

Super helpful staff; honest and knowledgeable. Did a great job guiding me about paint/brushes/etc., even (twice) in cases where I ended up spending less money based on their advice. read more

Great service and knowledge, huge inventory ... i want everyone to shop here so they won't be a home depot casualty

Local hardware with good Benjamin Moore paint and a little of everything but very pricey, I'd rather use them for emergency situations..

Love it. Just feels like you neighborhood hardware store. It's packed with everything you'd ever need, and the people who work here are really friendly and helpful. Let's keep stores like this alive! read more

Doesn't have everything that the big orange box store does, but makes up for it by caring the best in painting supplies. They also have the best staff that will help with any questions you have about a project. Not open on Sunday and I think they close by 6:00 durning the week. read more

Love this place - always get my Benjamin Moore paint from here. Very knowledgable and helpful. Was sent here from home depot employee so even HD acknowledges their superiority :) read more

Great local hardware store that specializes in paint supplies. The staff is super knowledgeable and want to help you. Since it is a smaller than Home Depot they don't carry everything under the sun but if you don't want to deal with HD and you want help from people who know what they are talking about this is the place to go to. They carry top quality paint brands and supplies and really take the time to find out what you are trying to do and help you pick the best paint and supplies for the job. I was in there today and they were telling a woman to buy less expensive brushes than she had selected because she could get the same results with the cheaper brushes with the paint she was going to use. Also if you need something they don't have the owner Manny will pick up the phone and find it another local store for you. For your next do it yourself project go to Coolidge Hardware and experience getting help from people who know their stuff and actually care about your coming back to buy from them again. read more

THE most knowledgeable hardware people! They can answer any tool question.

I love local businesses, and try to "vote" with my dollars by shopping at them. This store seems bigger on the inside than on the outside-- I think they have everything anyone might need (and I don't have to shop at a Big Box store)!!! The plunger (I had a choice of a couple) and bucket I recently purchased were reasonably priced, and the staff are always helpful and kind. read more

I called them asking for J-B Kwik Weld epoxy, and they told me they had it. Excited, I rushed over. Turns out they had J-B Weld and J-B Wood Weld, but not J-B Kwik Weld. Why did they waste my time? It may be a good place to buy hardware--I don't know--, but they need some help in paying attention to customers on the phone. read more

Love the staff. They're very helpful. This place has met all my hardware needs. The also duplicate keys - which is great. read more

Coolidge Hardware is a wonderful local hardware store has everything we need for home projects and very knowledgeable and helpful folks who run the store. read more

Coolidge hardware has everything HD has at the same price. Granted CH doesn't have wood, but Sterritt on Arlington St does, and need be they will happily help you load on to the roof of you vehicle - try getting that at HD. Coolidge hardware has the best Ben Moore paint section, and the staff there actually know what they are talking about, and have given me great advice on my DIY projects. CH is not a warehouse in which you can walk for hours and still not find what you need. read more

Grew up around the corner from this place and I could still walk in and put something on my mom's account. As in, they know and trust that she'll come in and pay up. (Being a responsible adult with my own money, though, I don't do so.) Just saying this is a TRUE neighborhood store. SUPPORT LOCAL hardware stores! This is one of the last few that haven't yet been driven out by the giant conglomerates. In the heart of Coolidge Square, home to terrific shops, bakeries and restaurants, this is a great place to buy paint, get keys cut, find tools and gadgets and wallpaper... Check it out! read more

So thankful to have this place nearby. So much easier and friendlier than having to deal with a trip to Home Depot.

very very helpful for paint and paint supplies. Love having this option nearby. LOVE being able to support a local business.

It's nice to go to this place with pictures and ask questions. You can tell them you don't have that much experience doing a perticuler job and get good advice. You can even tell them that you have to much going on. And get a referral. Oh on Sunday they are closed. Go to Home Depot. They have so many of the brand you need. But they don't have what Coolidge had! Home Depot is a good value.. But not the special service that Coolidge gives you! read more

After a nightmare experience at Home Depot in Watertown, my mother suggested I go to Coolidge Hardware. Boy am I glad I did. The lovely man behind the counter helped me find the correct paint I needed and even had his co worker bring the paint out to my car. Talk about customer service! Coolidge Hardware has a new customer for life. So long Home Depot! read more

For big bulky items, you might be better off at a big bulky orange store, not far away from here. For everything else, if you value your time, come here. Ever spent hours roaming the aisles of HD just to realize they don't have what you want? Won't happen here. Ask anyone, and within a few minutes you have whatever you need in your hand, with explanations on how to best use it or take care of it. You can't beat this. The paint counter is GREAT. Knowledgable, friendly, fast, professional, you name it. Color matching? No problem. Uncertain of the surface you paint on? no problem. Want to go lower budget? No problem, and you will know on what you compromise, because their expert staff will be able to tell you. This shop is as a shop should be. read more

I went there to pick up paint for a project. A very simple job. Right?! While I was waiting, the two workers were spending their time complaining about past customers while ignoring an older women who could barely stand. This was very unprofessional. They had an easy job to do to instead, I was unimpressed. I wouldn't spend another minute or a penny in that store. read more

For painting supplies this is the place to go. All of the staff treats everyone like a neighbor they like. Store is small. Non painting items are a bit limited. Other than that this place is as good as it gets. read more

I wander into this store to look for items I never thought of. They have a good supply of old fashioned hardware items that inspire projects. Today one of the staff helped me figure out a way to display two Japanese fish kites in front of my home, using a combination of hardware that differed from the standard clunky support for a larger flag. I know the staff enjoys solving problems as much as the customers love taking problems to them. This is an old fashioned hardware store with, as others have said, the best supply of paints as well. read more

LOVE this place. The guys that work there are super helpful. When my husband and I were painting our new house we got to know them VERY well. We can even call and give them orders for the Benjamin Moore paint over the phone and they have it shaken for us by the time we arrive. You cant beat the service or the products. Top rate! read more

I really wanted to give these guys some business, but unfortunately not open Sundays. I did have a nice window shopping experience - looks like a nice place from what I can tell. Fortunately I found a Home Depot up the road who was open. While unfortunate, I understand why Home Depot is putting the squeeze on local guys like this. Saturdays and Sundays are when the vast majority of us, who don't earn a living as contractors, are tackling home improvement projects. These guys should rethink their business hours as they are probably leaving a lot of money on the table. It's like an ice cream shop that only opens for the winter. read more

I shop here often, and it's always a positive experience. But today, they outdid themselves. I brought in a sliver of a paint chip in order to purchase a match. The gentleman in the paint department went above and beyond in terms of time and interest in finding the correct color. The wall is painted, the match is perfect. Quality is what this place is about. read more
