I am more than impressed with ABV Appliance and wish I had reached out to them sooner--i.e., before going with the default GE (manufacturer's) own technician. I called to schedule and Vlad, the Licensed Technician, came the next evening on December 14, 2023. Vlad is a thorough Licensed Technician. He first listened to the compressor sound of our refrigerator, then continued to do additional diagnosis to ensure that the problem isn't caused by something else (which is less likely BUT happened to be the case here! We're so lucky to have found ABV Appliance. On top of that, Vlad explained to me what he was doing and why -- and what the GE technician failed to do -- all while he was making his analysis and testing. Prior to ABV Appliance (Vlad) coming here, we didn't know better and went with the GE (manufacturer's) technician, who simply listened to the compressor and concluded that it's the compressor that's causing the whole issue. WRONG! Most technicians could get by doing haphazard job, providing wrong diagnosis and wasting consumes' money. But not ABV Appliance. Like I said, Vlad took an extra step and used his technical tools to diagnosis to figure out that the compressor isn't the issue here. Luckily, I felt something was shady with the GE technician (unwillingness to provide a written diagnosis for us to file a claim with our insurance (credit card warranty). I trust ABV Appliance fully and know that they have consumers' interests as their top priority. While they could easily recommend me fixing the refrigerator and make more money from me, they were honest and give their honest professional recommendations, which is to glibly a new refrigerator because the cost of fixing this refrigerator is way more than the price of the refrigerator itself or a new one. My insurance (Credit Card Extended Warranty) asked for very specific and detailed information from the Licensed Technician and ABV Appliance has been able to provide a written report of the diagnosis, even refuting the GE (manufacturer's) wrong diagnosis, for me to use to file this claim. They said they deal with insurance claims all the time and from the look at the detailed report they provided to me for submitting to my insurance, I can tell they are experts in fixing these appliances. I would wholeheartedly recommend ABV Appliance and, again, recommend them over the manufacturer's own services--as those are not trust worthy and are just in a hurry to finish their quick haphazard diagnosis without caring that the fridge would broke down again in a few months. As for values, it cost only $95 for their visit and very thorough diagnosis. Note, this is cheaper than GE's technician, which cost $119.95 for a haphazard incompetent job. I believe in ABV Appliance and trust them with all my appliance repairs need. I trust their experts' diagnosis and trust that they have customers' interest at heart. An honest and thorough and competent business like this is bound to succeed and I will be monitoring them as they get more customers by reviews like Yelp here and by word of mouth. Also, note, as of now, there's 20% off for Yelp users , so be sure to take advantage of that--but I honestly would use them even without the discount as I have experienced enough with bad technicians from manufacturers and other services. I had a temperature problem with my sub-zero fridge. ABV quoted $5000 parts and labor to fix the problem. I had another vendor take a look, at the problem was unrelated. It was fixed for hundreds (not thousands) of dollars. Seems like ABV is a national front company that handles incoming requests and delegates out to different contractors. This company receives a 2 star only because the technician showed up on time. What was being serviced: Refrigerator Let's start with the "diagnostic" service, the tech comes into my home, sets up his tools, removes the back cover of the freezer and determines that a wire responsible for regulating temperature needs to be replaced. After the diagnosis the tech tells me that he will relate the information to his boss and move forward with the repair after obtaining the part. I pay for the his service and receive an invoice via email, the transaction was handled via mobile phone payment. This is where things get interesting. A day goes by without a follow up from anyone who works for this company. So, on day three I called ABV in the AM and get in contact with the manager (whoever), he confirms the visit via invoice #, then acts as if he had no information for me, I explained to him what his tech said about the part, then he rambles off about not being able to find a part " I don't use after market, blah, it can take 1 month to a years to find a part" which is bullshit. I'm an IT Technician, I deal with repairs and ordering parts from reputable suppliers. I also repair my own damn car, so I know how this shit goes. Lastly, the guy I'm speaking with tells me " I recommends buying a new refrigerator" (mind you the refrigerator is only 5 years old and practically new in good shape). The man blatantly lied to me, I found the part for under $75.00 within 5- 10 minutes. And guess what, Sears repair center sells the part, why wouldn't they because they sell the damn refrigerator. My conclusion is that the manager took my money and ran with it. O yeah let's mention that along with his rambling he mentioned "he isn't trying to scam me", that's for damn sure what this felt like. Easy diagnosis, easy $120.00. No actual work done. Next I will contact the Better Business Bureau. read more

Prompt response to online inquiry seeking repair of a-now-discontinued Avanti portable washer. Purchased in 2011 - for an apartment-to-sink-hookup - worked flawlessly all these years - until it stopped. Cause? Unclear? Because of its age - manufacturer in Florida suggested "buy a new one". We decided to try and fix it - ABV responded to a Yelp inquiry - promptly - noting the base $95 initial consult fee. We were able to get an appointment the next day - technician, while not English Speaking, came prepared with Mobile Phone Translator - he was careful - worked neatly - found the problem, that was not easily fixable. NONETHELESS - he was able to work around a broken part - efficiently, neatly, and with great success!! Extremely pleased with whole experience - payment was made and receipt instantly generated via Cell phone services. Extremely pleased with this company on a chance well taken. Deceitful company. Shouldve cancelled them when they failed to show up to initial appointment. Gave them benefit of the doubt and had them repair some digital component of dishwasher. Had to have them return as dishwasher was left unsecured and would tilt completely out when opened. They had the nerve to try and charge $150 to "secure" it. Had to remind them it had been secured before they "repaired" it. Took them all but two minutes to secure it with the corresponding screws they forgot to replace. Shady practice. Gosh what to say here -- our LG dryer had a burning smell so we urgently called ABV Appliance to come by. Thankfully they could come the next day and they arrived within the time window. Ivan was our technician and he was absolutely superb -- courteous, knowledgeable, and armed with a can-do attitude. He was methodical, and quickly diagnosed our issue. Luckily he had the part he needed on-hand and fixed everything. Our first call was to Yale Appliance (where we bought our washer and dryer), but they couldn't visit for 2-weeks. We hired ABV to repair our LG refrigerator and they did a great job. We have hired LG for repair and tried this time, but LG was awful whereas ABV was super responsive, they came quickly, they provided a solid diagnosis and most importantly, they fixed the product. The fact that they came quickly for the initial diagnosis and were super responsive (using the Yelp messaging feature) was great. There was still some frustrating aspects because our compressor had a 10 year warranty and so LG would cover the part, but not the labor, so we had to reach out to LG ourselves to get the part ordered and shipped to ABV and there was a mixup about the address, but I think 95% of the friction was on LG there. At the end of the day, we got our fridge working and now, more than a month later, it still seems to be fine. I'll certainly call ABV first when I have my next appliance repair. read more

I appreciated that ABV technicians arrived same day I made an inquiry (the day after Thanksgiving) to install a new igniter in my oven. Artem and his assistant Ivan were polite, professional, and thorough, answering my questions about the igniter replacement as they proceeded. I had diagnosed the problem (oven failing to heat up) and had done some internet research on fixing it myself, but decided to call a service who would have the part in order to get the job done quickly and correctly, while assuming it was a relatively inexpensive fix since I had seen replacement igniters for less than $30 and videos showing replacement in less than 20 minutes (with the proper tools and know how). Artem first turned on the broiler to ensure that the gas valve was functioning properly (it was), and then once he established that it was in fact the igniter quoted me a price of $350 for replacement. When I balked at the price and asked for a breakdown, he said the igniter cost $125 and was certified (whereas low-cost versions seen on the internet were not reliable), and the rest was for labor. The two of them were in my house for less than 40 minutes, so assuming rounding up to 1 hour apiece for labor (Ivan was a "trainee"), that's 2 hours of labor for $225, or $112/hr apiece. At this point, they are in the house, and ready to do the work, and the sunk time/effort of contacting a firm and making an appointment and getting them out here had already been made. While it was hard to stomach paying $350 for something I assumed would cost $200 at most, that's on me for being in a hurry and just wanting to get it done that day rather than shopping around for a better price or trying to take on the job myself, or even just getting an estimate for an igniter replacement ahead of time. I rated ABV four stars because they were prompt, knowledgeable, professional, and the did the job for an agreed-upon price, although the high cost kept me from adding a fifth star. I don't begrudge trained technicians using their skills and time to maximize their profit, but I don't like feeling like a chump, either. Until I learn how to do these types of things with confidence myself, or find a regular person or service I can rely on, I remain vulnerable to what can seem like arbitrarily high pricing for repair work. read more
