Pitiful to say the least. I brought my laptop in to fix a broken hinge (it wouldn't close right), they kept it for five weeks only to ship it back to me unfixed because the factory couldn't ship them the part. And then BestBuy had the audacity to try and sell me a new laptop. I then brought it into a generic computer repair shop. It took only one day to diagnose the problem, (They then gave my laptop back because it was still usable), And then after they got the part delivered took one day to repair it. It cost me a lot less than what geek squad was gonna charge to. I'm NEVER using Geek Squad again. They were a complete and utter waste of time, and gave me no results. I cant review their service because I can't seem to ever get an appointment. I scheduled an appointment online for an iPhone screen repair (should be straight forward). The appointment was for 2:30 and at 2:40, when I was already waiting in line, I get an email saying the appointment was canceled. One guy said they were super busy that day (there was only one other person waiting, but whatever) and to try again. I booked appointments two more times, and both times they get canceled at the last minute with no explanation. Screw that. Save your time and just go directly to the Apple store. read more

Don't buy the 1yr service plan it's a rip-off. Apparently all the geeks can do is the very basics, tune up, defrag, things a 12 yr old can do. I needed a USB port replaced & the power input jack changed & I was told they don't have a soldering iron in the service room & don't know how to actually build a computer or open it for mechanical service. Got the 1yr service plan 3 months ago & now want a partial refund. We'll see how that goes. Next complaint goes to the BBB. Deceptive sales practice misleading the customer that the geeks can fix electronic issues. Find someone else that knows what to do. read more

Everything I've heard about the Geek Squad has been validated. They don't talk to you as if you have you head up your ass about computer type things, and they are efficient as hell. Dude AKA as Curt was not kidding about the 10 minutes in my house. I was also pleased at how patient he was to answer my questions and made sure to check that I was comfortable with everything before he left. So yeah $159 was well worth the investment. He mentioned to me that this was pretty much the flate rate for house calls. No additional fee's, or cost after the first 10 minutes. No geeky questions, no geeky behavior and poof he was gone. First of all I am not computer savvy by any means. I put my trust in those who are professionals. Or at least I thought I did. I was relocating my business last spring and thought it would be a good idea to bring in my computer for a virus check and tune up. Long story short 5 years of client DATA and history LOST. The "tech" who worked on my computer was on vacation when I brought it back in. Needless to say when I returned a third time I was then told he no longer worked there and they could not locate my files. I've had to call geek squad several times over the past week due to issues with my brand new laptop. They were not available by phone at night and chatting was useless. They were unable to help then asked me to wait 45 minutes for someone that could help. I doubt the call volume was very high at midnight. Frustrating to have that many problems with a brand new device then get no help to troubleshoot!!!! I called Geek Squad to help me with some technical issues I was having. My problem was two computers weren't communicating with each other. This is for a business and to operate quickbooks using two computers. 3 days and about 8 hours of being on the phone with someone that you can barley understand was to say the least, frustrating! Save your money and find a different tech support company. I contacted them because I was having problem with my pc accessing some apps, or pages, fb in particular, and they guaranteed me they could fix it, so I purchased a one year contract. The first rep didn't know anything and when I asked if he could transfer to a senior rep, he told me they don't have that kind of system. On the second call, the person did transfer to a senior tech and he did seem to know what he was doing. He requested a copy of my FB files, and told me to call them back when I received them! They were received an hour or so later, and I did call back, and could never get anyone who knew what they were doing and they said they could not transfer to the original senior tech who ordered the files!!! One if their solutions was to upgrade my windows edition, and because they are just so arrogant did not bother to ask me how I wished to handle software updates!!! They deleted my Norton Anti Virus 360, put in their own, same with add blocker!!! Anyway, to make a long story as short as I can, they spent about 3, 8 hour days and at the end finally admitted they didn't know what was wrong, gave me a phone number for FB, which when you call, says not accepting calls at this time! and totally messed up many other function on my pc!!! And then tried to tell me it should be that way!!! I have spent numerous hours trying to fix what they damaged and I spent almost two hours today on the phone waiting for a customer service rep, I want a refund, and finally gave up!!! Spent another half hour on web chat, with the same success!!! No one ever showed up!!! Save your money, hire a different tech support company! Best Buy Geek Squad are frauds!!! The people that work here are useless. I paid $300 to have my pc fixed and they broke it more. I needed my power button re-wired that's all. They took four days to hard wire my pc. They said they couldn't fix the button and I had to unplug and plug it in to turn it on and off. When I got home my pc wouldn't even show any picture on my monitor, I unplugged it and plugged it back and it went boom and never turned on again. Geek squad cost me about $1,400. Never go here they couldn't tell their left from right. A lot of imbeciles. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service and ability to fix a computer. First greeted by a child who was about 20 years old and throwing around words about computers he thought I would understand. Then had to give the computer to a person behind a curtain (must be the Wizard of Oz). Went to pick it up 2 days later and it still wasn't fixed as he plugged it in and it wouldn't start up...he kept rebooting it and told me it sometimes need to be rebooted a few times for it to "catch" the disc properly...i think he thought it was a frisbee. Then he said it could be the battery wasn't made powerful enough for the computer. It was a 1 year old Dell computer with a terabyte of memory...he tried to tell me that sometimes the computer is too powerful for the battery. Then he went to talk to the tech who supposedly fixed it and came out and suggested the disc could be swapped with a chip to make it faster. Then the tech came out and said he had to work on the disc more and I could come back in a few hours. Today was 98 degrees in Boston at South Bay Plaza and I walked around for almost 2 hours when he told me it would be ready in an hour. Then they are telling me to come back tonight to pick it up....THEN they sent and email to my son saying it would be ready on Tuesday...that would make 3 days they had it...when i called to file a complaint at the Geek Squad headquarters they told me it showed it was closed out on Saturday the 5th and repaired and couldn't help me once the ticket is closed out!! I brought it into the store on the 5th where the told me I either had to pay $350 or I could take out the contract for the year for $200. I took out the contract and then they explained that it's an automatic yearly renewing contract and they keep my charge card on file. Told him I did not want them to keep my card on file and he told me that's their policy. Needless to say, that card will be deleted once I get my computer back. They still have my computer, they have my $200.00 and they already have wasted 4 hours of can my time in one day. WORST WORST WORST service and I can only say that I truly believe they hire any kid who says he knows how to fix a computer. I don't think any of them have ever gone to school for computer sciences...they figure if they know how to play video games on a computer, it's a safe bet to hire them to fix them. First they said it was 5 virus's, then when they couldn't get it to work, they said it was a battery, then they went behind the curtain and the got the "tech", and I use the word loosely, who said he believes it was the disc and it would be another $65 to replace it. You'd think he would have figured it out seeing as they had it for over 2 days. Beware, it should be called the STUPID SQUAD or RIP OFF SQUAD! Your choice!! read more

These guys are first class scumbags,...I brought my computer there on Monday, since it wwasn't connecting to the internet. I was charged $200, so that a diagnostic could be run and repairs made. Last night I received a call, and was told that the wireless compnent was brroken, and that they could install a new one. Also, I would be receiving a portion of my $200 back! Great news! Until, I received another call less than 24 hours later from another Geek Squad employee, John, saying that my hard drive was dying and I would need to pay $150.00 to have it fixed!!!! Huh? I told him of the previous call, and he said that he ran additional tests since he didn't trust the judgement of the other Geek Squad employee. Obviously I was annoyed, and the whole thing feels unbelievably shadey. I intend to pick up my computer tomorrow, and have it checked out elsewhere....DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more

These guys are awful. Save your time and frustration and go somewhere else. Should have never gone back after first time I had terrible service, but I did, and a second...but three strikes and any business is out! First, they have never heard of the saying, don't over promise....what ever date they tell you they will have your "diagnostic" done add two - three days. When you call them because they won't call you, they will tell you they are still running test, but will call you tomorrow. When they don't call you and you call them, they will either tell you there is nothing wrong or, they found a virus but they fixed it,..be prepared to go back in a week with the same issue! If you have a problem, do not hesitate to talk to head geek (manager) Kevin. With this guy leading the customer service, there is no question why they are failing. He will talk down to you, be short, quote policy, and truly does not seem to care if he helps you or looses you as a customer of Best Buy. He told me and I heard him to another customer say don't bother calling corporate, they will just send you back to me. Best Buy is a great company, and there are Geek squads that do a good Job and have customer service at their forefront, geek squad in Everett, MA is not one of them! read more

Do not even bother going to this location. I have the two year warranty for my HTC Hero phone and the speaker and sound functions no longer worked. I had no problem going to geek squad and having it sent to service but after waiting in line for a good thirty minutes, the associate decided to blatantly ring up another employee for a drink and ignored my presence completely. I said "No don't worry, ring out the employee instead of helping a customer.. no problem at all." Spend the extra 15 minutes and go to the Burlington location, you won't be disappointed there. read more

I brought in my 3 year old lap top that really is very good, so I didn't want to replace it. It had 3 years of crap plus "deleted" MacAffe that was haunting me. They kept it 3 days -which I didn't like, I got it back it works great! I signed up for the 2 year service -not cheap- and week later I used it, they remoted in and spent an hour upgrading and making it go -an hour is a pain. It is/was a great experience and it is great having my own "IT" dept. Yes, 3 days is to much, it costs to much, the hour is to long... just like real IT. The folks in store were really very good and the experience is very good. I'd give them a 5 if they were cheaper and faster. :) read more

My computer got a virus and refused to boot so I freaked out and the only place I could think of was the Geek Squad in Everett, MA. So I brought it over on a Monday Morning, I really need my computer for my work you understand. So I talked to the guy, he sounded super confident, said it would cost me $200 but they would fix it. the guy was kind of vague about how long it would take, at least a couple of days he said. So they kept it for over a week, I kept calling and finally got it back. It booted great, no data lost, I had the computer for about 3 weeks and kablooey, it starts screwing up again, going Reeeaallly Sloooowww. So I brought it back and they said no problem, it is under their 1 month warrantly, but then they said that warranty doesn't cover viruses which they think this is. So I pay another $130 and they keep it for a week again and finally I get it back. Now it screws up a 3rd time after a couple of weeks and finally I have learned my lesson!!! No more Geek Squad!!! I found a small computer guy in my neighborhood and he charged me $90 and fixed it great!!! So the moral of that story is: Don't ever use the Geek Squad, they are useless!!! read more

My HP laptop was purchased like 2 years ago,and buying a new Inverta Board would be a few hundred. Gave this store my lop top to be worked on, and lo and behold, when I got it back, it was not how I turned in. For starters, yes they did get my drives up and running. Some of my hard ware was removed, and my audio had a distortion in it whenever you played any kind of video, plus a slight buffering. Took my equipment back, and no one could find the problem. Did a second opinion at the Saugus store, and the same thing. As far as I'm concerned, the Geeks ruined my laptop, took my money, and now will not step up to the plate. Do not trust this company. awful experience with this store and corporate office.I will never go there again.I have had a bad experience with Best buy itself before but figured I would take a chance with geek squad,which was a mistake.They don't even fix the computers there they ship it out and when I was told by e-mail that it was fixed then when I was going to pick it up they called from Everett and told me it wasn't fixed even though corporate said it was so I said I will just come and pick it up instead of them sending it back out.I went to Microcenter in Cambridge Mass and it was fixed in less than 24 hrs ,good price,and excellent service all the way around.They even called me to update me on what was going on.If I ever use geek squad again anywhere it will be in Salem NH when I move to NH unless I can find a Microcenter up there.Salem NH Best Buy and Geek squad is great and they don't charge a shipping charge or deposit there because they fix them there but that could have changed. read more
