Noelle P.

I wanted a free couch from Craigslist Free but didn't want to pay a lot to pick it up-a friend recommended the $20 for the first hour and 15 min truck rental from Home Depot, and it ruled! The guys were super nice, and even thought it did take a sec to do all the paperwork like deposit, proof of ins, etc, the guy was so cool, he made it interesting-an OG Austinite and music lover he talked about music when we brought it up like seeing Deep Purple and cool bands that he liked or that we had in common. The best part is, I got a cute mod sectional couch that's super unique in color and style with nothing wrong with it for freeee!! It took a little longer than an hour and 15, bc the initial couch nearby wouldn't fit through the door, but they were cool about not ripping us off to keep the truck out to pick up my awesome blue couch and I got out of there only paying $55 even though we had the truck out for a few hours (to pick up the couch from out past Hippy Hollow/Oasis Lakeside!) Thanks for your help guys, so awesome!

Practically can find anything you need, but the store is a mess. There are less people helping at the checkouts as the place gets real busy. The pro service desk is a disaster. One person checking a huge line of backed up frustrated customers. The manager is nowhere to be found. Took him 40 minutes to get to attend one customer after being paged.

Inadequate bike parking
Sam P.

Terrible place but this review is specifically for bike parking. 1 Star: bike parking This is the kind of bike parking big businesses install just so they can say "yes! We do have bike parking!" It's inadequate you can probably cut through the flimsy bike rack faster than you can cut a bike frame. I made an effort to look for other suitable lock up locations but there weren't any! Space for 2 maybe 3 bikes at a major retailer is just sad.

Delays at checkout as we snake through products and other items in aisles. No lane notice visible.

This nursery has always attracted knowledgeable plants people, who are also incredibly nice. In a recent visit, some of the folks even got on the ground to love on my new puppy. I can't tell you how touched I was and I will definitely keep returning as long as kind people work there. Of course I have to say the plant selection is always fantastic and the prices are fair. I buy a lot of plants and Shoal Creek is always my first choice.

I'm done…read more I've been shopping at this nursery on and off for nearly 15 years and have spent what is probably an embarrassing amount of money here over that time. For years, I've justified their outrageous prices because of the location and convenience, although between the consistently chaotic parking situation and the overall experience, I'm not even sure how convenient it really is. The customer service has always left a lot to be desired. The staff often come across as dismissive, pretentious, and generally inconvenienced by the presence of actual customers. I've overlooked that for years because I love plants and prefer supporting local nurseries over big-box stores. What I can no longer overlook is the declining quality of the plants and the increasingly disappointing selection. When you're charging premium prices, customers should be able to expect premium plants, knowledgeable and welcoming service, and a worthwhile shopping experience. Unfortunately, lately, I'm not seeing much of any of those things. It also feels like their pricing reflects the lack of nearby competition more than the actual value of what they're selling. When the closest alternative is Lowe's, I suppose they can get away with it. After nearly 15 years, I've finally reached the point where I'd rather drive farther for better quality, fairer prices, and employees who actually seem happy to have customers. Two stars for the location and the years of convenience. The rest has become increasingly difficult to justify.

The selection is incredible. They have everything- indoor plants, outdoor plants, trees, shrubs, succulents. Whether you're looking for something small for a windowsill or larger trees to transform your yard, they've got it. And the prices were honestly great, especially for the quality and variety. I loved it so much that I brought my husband back the very next day, and we stocked up on even more plants and trees for our yard. The staff were friendly and helpful- they carefully wrapped up our plants so they wouldn't make a mess in the car and even helped load everything into our vehicle. That extra level of care made the whole experience even better. Safe to say we'll definitely be back again. Highly recommend if you're in the Austin area and love plants!

She was doing something with a plant that was so interesting, I kept sneaking little glances. I didn't want to ask her what because I didn't want her to know I was clueless about the world of beautiful plants. But I was in the area with a client, and the store caught my attention. It says "plants" and "parties" on the outside. I stopped in, saw all the greenery, and thought, "This is the perfect place to host a plant party." I have two young ladies in the family who are building their own plant garden, including veggies, and I'd like to surprise them with a plant party. I walked around admiring the plants; they stood so tall, healthy, and gorgeous in their containers. I actually wanted to purchase one, but didn't know the protocol, like whether it would stay inside the container or if I had to take it without the container. So I decided I'll do a little research and then return. But most of all, this is such a beautiful store and a great place to have a plant party! In route to a bookstore, I noticed the succulent store and decided to pop in. Succulent Native is a plant boutique in Austin, Texas, specializing in succulents, cacti, and creative plant arrangements. Quite honestly, I never knew that there were so many permutations of succulents. I actually believe I might be able to keep a succulent alive since they require little maintenance. I learned from the store manager that they host succulent parties. That would be a cool way to spend time with family and friends. In addition, while they have some beautiful plants, some can be a bit pricey. With that said, there is a section of the store that has some reasonably priced smaller plants. There's a little something for everyone.

My fiancée was excited to treat me to some replacement plants from the store that stated it all and got me a gift card. We drove up to Plant Party last weekend and were shocked to find out that the brick and mortar store that used to be there is completely empty. This was pretty confusing to us because the website said absolutely nothing about this status of the store changing. Neither do any of their social media platforms. We drove home disappointed and my fiancée reached out to the store owner to ask about how we could get our plants because my store gift card was for the in-person store. We were informed that we could either get a refund or use the credit on the gift card towards the online store. Unfortunately, the options on the site were pretty limited and the store online has a 75 dollars order limit, which was more than we were intending to spend (hence the 50 dollar gift card). As such, my partner decided to reach out again to try and get her refund. It has been several days and several attempts of contacts later and we have heard nothing. So my partner has filed a claim with her credit card company. To say we are extremely disappointed with the service is an understatement. We really had such fond memories of Plant Party prior to this, but this entire situation has definitely soured our opinion. Update: We have still not received our refund, and we were never communicated with that the refund would be going through until I posted this review. I feel like there is a general struggle with communication. I understand that business close and go, but based off of their social media and the website, one would not think that the store was closed and that led to multiple issues on our end. We drove all the way to Austin to try and support a business we both enjoyed just to find an empty store. Clarity would have been greatly appreciated.

I went in looking for one glorious Casablanca stem, which retail for $10 to $25 at most florists in the US, IF you can find them. This is a flower that can't be found in Austin, Texas. Instead, I walked out with an armful of Casablancas - some withered, banged up and stained - for a price that was so unbelievable that I'm not even going to share it here. When I got home and appraised my purchase, I realized that I had approximately 10 mostly extraordinary stems along with several throwaways. Austin Flower sells wholesale and retail flowers to people willing to make their own arrangements... or folks like me who are obsessed with Casablanca flowers. Do not come here expecting a lot of service. Come here if you are looking for flowers you cannot find anywhere else in the city. You might be bitterly disappointed. Shopping here is a little tricky. It's not likely that you will get what you came for. Or you might walk out feeling like you've robbed a bank.
